okay so I have been going on a decent deep dive for Legally Blonde stuff because sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. it mostly started when I remembered a post I saw on here a while ago around late August/early September. in short, it was a bunch of questions Christian Borle had answered, I remembered bits of it but couldn't find the post, I SOMEHOW managed to track it down and find it!!!!
anyways, one of the questions was "An Incomplete List of Cut Songs", to which Christian responded: "Bad Idea", "Here Boy" (I think he meant Good Boy lol. this is on the official demos), "To Hell With Them", "Beacon of Positivity", "Love and War" and "You're a Rockstar Lawyer Girl." (all of which i will HAPPILY dive deeper into if anyone is open to that conversation. there is much to discuss)
I mostly stopped there (this was like 3 days ago atp) BUT yesterday I was on a hunt for quite literally anything and stumbled across A WHOLE CUT SONG. which i THINK is supposed to be the "You're a Rockstar Lawyer Girl" song Christian mentioned!
When I first re-read the title in Christian's response, I assumed it was a sort of early version of Legally Blonde (Remix) (just felt right), but after listening and thinking it out with myself I think it's actually an EARLY version of Chip on My Shoulder. As in, I'm pretty sure Chip replaced it once they reworked some things.
So, my first listen through I sort of assumed it was actually a Callahan song. Andy Karl is singing it, and he was an understudy for Callahan, so it sort of made sense. It sort of gives that vibe that Blood in the Water sets up (the "And me and that rockstar/had so much freaking fun" line reminded me of "he can get you high and laid" from the song), particularly "Can’t you feel the power?/There’s no greater thrill." But there were a few moments and other things that didn't line up.
For one, I couldn't figure out where it was supposed to take place. I'm pretty sure Orfeh sings Elle's part, and the only time Callahan and Elle are alone is right before the ballad. And while it COULD still sort of fit there (it doesn't make sense story wise to have an earlier scene with this happening), it doesn't fit quite right.
There's also a part where Andy Karl sings "Make a boyfriend beg you/For a second chance/Baby, please give me one more chanc/Pooh Bear, give me one more chance." The use of Pooh Bear obviously implies Warner, which I ALSO considered for a second, but the first part of the song talks about passing the bar.
But what I think makes the most sense, leaning back into the Chip on My Shoulder feels, is that this song is a reflection of an early draft of Emmett's character as well. Andy Karl was also an understudy for Emmett, so that checks out. The Greek Chorus in the background (from the recording at least) also checks out since they're part of Chip.
The main reasons I think of this particularly is how, even from the beginning of writing the musical, Emmett's character was one they wanted to flush out. In the context of this particular song, he's already gained the confidence that Elle helps him find in the final version of the musical. He's the one inspiring her in this version to sort of win back her own confidence which also sort of happens in Chip?
It makes sense that this one wasn't on the official demos mostly because Take It Like a Man was there; if this really is an Emmett song then Take It Like a Man doesn't make much sense. I remember reading somewhere that both Laura Bell Bundy and Christian Borle had sort of pushed for a love song for Elle and Emmett which is allegedly how Take It Like a Man was born. And this song having a more confident version of Emmett makes sense that they wouldn't exist in the same iteration of the musical.
I mean, there's a lot to draw from Emmett's character but like, these lines I think can easily be connected to having a chip on his shoulder lol
He’d tell me nothing keeps a rockstar off that stage And I’m a rockstar No one’s gonna put me in a cage ‘Cause I’m a rockstar
And then also:
No, I make my own rockstars And that brings us to you
Probably just setting up how he's trying to help Elle realize her potential, which follow in these lines:
Make a boyfriend beg you For a second chance Baby, please give me one more chance Pooh Bear, give me one more chance
were just Emmett giving Elle that motivation to do what she had to do, since, at this point, she's likely doing this to win back Warner.
There's also the use of "ignoramus" which is a word I had to google... which checks out because Emmett uses big words sometimes
And the ending of the song parallels Chip, too:
Nothing keeps a rockstar off that stage No one’s gonna put me in a cage I’m gonna get in touch with my inner rage Rockstar’s got to get on that stage
It was just thrilling to think about! Especially consider an early iteration of how they were trying to give Emmett more to his character. The song is a banger but I do like what Chip does for the story more. that's all really

Hello yes it is that time of year again, I am listening to the 1970 OG recording of JCS on vinyl and have decided to finally make a list my rankings for every role and aspect of this show. For the record I am a pagan whose only real knowledge of the Jesus story is from this show so forgive my unhinged takes.
Characters:
Jesus:
Ian Gillan (OG album/broadway)
Ted Neeley (1973)
Ola Sålo (Swedish 2014)
Jack Hopewell (North American Tour 2022)
Morgan James (all female cast 2022)
Judas:
Carl Anderson (1973)
Brandon Victor Dixon (2018)
Murray Head (OG album)
Shoshana Bean (all female cast 2022)
Peter Johannson (Swedish 2014)
Honourable mention to Colm Wilkinson (it is a CRIME that there isn't a full recording of the Irish cast)
Mary Magdalene:
Yvonne Elliman (OG album/broadway/1973)
That's it, no one else even comes close
(Maybe an honourable mention for Gunilla Backman)
Pontius Pilate:
Barry Dennen (OG album/1973)
Filippo Strocchi (Vienna 2018)
Orfeh (all female cast 2022)
Caiaphas:
Bob Bingham (OG broadway/1973)
Norm Lewis (NBC 2018) I will ALWAYS stan Norm
Victor Brox (OG album)
Simon Zealotes:
TIE - Larry Marshall (1971)
TIE - Eric Grönwall (NBC 2018)
John Gustafson (OG album)
Tony Vincent (2000)
Herod:
Alice Cooper (NBC 2018)
Mike D'Abo (OG album)
Chris Moyles (Arena Tour 2012)
Overall - staging/set design/costumes:
1973 Movie
NBC 2018
North American Tour 2022
Arena Tour 2012
Honourable mention to the OG broadway production -- I haven't seen enough footage to accurately rank it but I LOVE Jesus's cape in Superstar.
Best overall rendition of Superstar (incl. staging, costumes, etc)
1973 Movie
NBC 2018
Arena Tour 2012
Swedish 2014
Best facial expressions:
Carl Anderson during Simon Zealotes
Carl Anderson right before he engages in respectability politics to slut shame Mary
Tim Minchin when the priests take his joint lmao
Best Superstar costume:
Carl Anderson's white maxi fringe jumpsuit (come ON)
Peter Johannson's shirtless #lewk (I have a whole thing about how Judas should not look like a demon but the sparkly red pants and the Legolas hair are too fantastic)
Brandon Victor Dixon in the full silver fit
Best WTF moments:
That bit in the 1973 film where they all form The Last Supper for a quick second and no one comments on it
When the 1973 crowd says "won't you die for me?" in Hosanna and it just FREEZES on Jesus's face
The Swedish cast pushing Jesus into Jerusalem in a shopping cart
The fighter pilots swooping at Judas after Blood Money in 1973. What WAS that. How did they get that.
That is all lol. Every time we watch even a clip of a new production my mother and I spend 2-3 hours discussing how it fits into our rankings, so this could change.

5 Chanel Is Wrapped In Ribbons For Fall 2025 On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel presented a distinctly feminine collection for Fall 2025. Inspired by the brand’s signature bows—an accessory beloved by Coco Chanel and turned into a house code by Karl Lagerfeld in the ‘90s—the label’s studio team crafted a ribbon-filled collection, presented on a black ribbon-shaped runway in the Grand Palais. Its newest collection featured a mix of red, green, blue, black, and white tweed skirt suits, blazers, formal gowns, and minidresses, most layered with floating sheer skirts in homage to ribbons’ lightweight nature. However, one of the biggest runway moments was the brand’s newest show crasher: a stray pigeon that strutted down the runway before taking flight! An impressive front row was also in attendance, including Tyla, Camila Cabello, Dakota Fanning, Raye, Whitney Peak, and more. All images: Courtesy of Chanel Gigi Hadid Embraces Jazz Age Glamour For Vogue‘s April 2025 Issue Vogue’s latest cover star is Gigi Hadid! The supermodel is front and center for Annie Leibovitz’s lens, fronting the publication’s April 2025 issue. Posing in a gauzy Valentino dress styled by Alex Harrington, Hadid’s Jazz Age-themed editorial finds her outfitted in similarly nostalgic numbers by Chanel, Fendi, Dior Haute Couture, Prada, Miu Miu, Schiaparelli Haute Couture, and vintage pieces from Timeless Vixen. Her interview with Chloe Schama finds Hadid opening up on her multi-faceted nature as a model, mother, and founder of her Guest in Residence knitwear brand—as well as her recent romance with Bradley Cooper. “I think just getting to the point where knowing what you want and deserve in a relationship is essential,” Hadid says, “and then to find someone that is in a place in their life where they know what they want and deserve…and you both do work separately to come together and be the best partner that you can be. I just feel really lucky. Yeah, lucky’s the word. I respect him so much as a creative, and I feel that he gives so much to me: encouragement and, just, belief. For those people you admire to encourage you, it can create so much belief in yourself. Like, what’s the worst thing if I auditioned for this? You jump and take the leap.” Awww… Gigi Hadid (Annie Leibovitz) The Cinema Society & Neon Toast The Actor’s Premiere With Gemma Chan & André Holland Cheers! On Monday night, The Cinema Society and Neon hosted the official New York premiere of Duke Johnson’s latest film, The Actor. Starring Gemma Chan and André Holland, the historical crime film was screened at Village East. Afterwards, guests convened for a chic afterparty at The Twenty Two—complete with plenty of martinis, prosecco, and light bites from French fries to peach tarts. Outfitted in contemporary pieces by Gabriela Hearst, Burberry, Michael Kors, Saint Laurent, and more, Johansson opens up on her life in front of and behind the camera—including how she’s quite camera-shy herself! In her accompanying interview with Jason Wheeler, the star shares how she’s developing new film Just Cause, starring in summer’s Jurassic World: Rebirth, and balancing both producing and acting projects with parenting and her skincare line, The Outset. “It’s understanding how to delegate,” Johansson says. “I’ve gotten better at that with more experience. I am kind of a control freak. I have a very active mind. People always describe how they’re ‘zoned out’ and I’m not sure what that means.” Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson All images: Courtesy of InStyle Mona Tougaard Blooms As Viktor & Rolf’s Newest Flowerbomb Face   Mona Tougaard’s in full bloom!
