YutaMaki all canon evidence! Read this if you lack knowledge about Yutamaki. Why they have development and not a lackluster.

Yutamaki deniers and Yutamaki defenders, take note!

If you’re wondering about Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin ending up together, Im here to show you why many people believe in YutaMaki and why the evidence strongly supports it. There is no headcanon, there are numerous hints throughout Jujutsu Kaisen that point toward their romantic potential. I will list them them down here, using only canon source material. I will also list down counter argument that denies Yutamaki endgame.

1. Hints from Jujutsu Kaisen 0

Even in JJK 0, there were clear signs of YutaMaki being set up.

Panda ships them. Panda first teased Yuta about Maki, showing that he sees potential in them. One example is when he asks Yuta what kind of boob size he likes, and Yuta answers, “Big ones.” Panda immediately cheers Maki on, implying she has a chance. Another moment is when Maki playfully hits Yuta on the head, and Panda blushes and giggles at them like a shipper watching their OTP interact. Maki, confused, asks Panda why he’s laughing.

Maki’s only blush in the series is because of Yuta. During their classroom scene, Yuta praises Maki, and she acts like a tsundere, clearly touched by his words. When she leaves the room, she blushes, something she doesn’t do for anyone else in the entire series.

Rika’s jealousy and Yuta’s protective reaction. After Geto injures Maki and the others, Yuta heals them, but he’s especially concerned about Maki. Rika, jealous, snatches Maki’s unconscious body and shakes her, yelling, “It’s not fair! It’s not fair! Always thinking of you! Always thinking of you!” Yuta, visibly angry, scolds Rika, saying, “What are you doing, Rika?! She saved my life! Hold her gently, like a butterfly or a flower!” This moment is significant. it shows that Yuta deeply cares for Maki, to the point where Rika, who represents his deep emotions, feels threatened. It's also been months since he's been with his classmates with the real rika so during those times, Rika watched Yuta and Maki interact in a way that made Rika jealous, Although he is close with all his classmates, it should be a coincidence why Rika would specifically target Maki. It is worth reconsidering the reason behind her actions.

2. Gege Akutami’s Interviews and Official Hints

When asked, "Will Yuta like another girl other than Rika?" Gege responded, “I'm sure he will from now on.” Note that Gege included "from now on" hinting that he already had it in mind, and who could that be? Who is the only girl Yuta is close to at this point? Maki.

When asked how Maki’s view of Yuta has changed, Gege replied, “From an annoying beansprout to an incredible beansprout.” This shows clear character development in her perception of him.

When asked, “Who is Maki’s first love?” Gege replied, “I don’t know,” but placed a manga panel of Panda shipping YutaMaki right next to the question. Coincidence? Probably not.

3. Light Novel Evidence (approved by Gege)

The JJK 0 light novel gives even deeper insight into Yuta and Maki’s feelings.

Yuta is shown admiring Maki, thinking:

"To Yuta, Maki is like the shining star in the winter sky."

This is nothing romantic for them but

This kind of poetic description looked a bit romantic in perspective. It also enhanced their chemistry.

After their conversation, Maki feels warmth in her chest and blushes, recalling his words.

There’s also an interesting parallel:

Yuta’s thoughts on Rika’s spirit disappearing: “Rika’s body became more and more transparent, the form that had been imprinted in his childhood memories began to melt like snow under the winter sun.”

Yuta’s thoughts on Maki: “Like the shining star in the winter sky.”

The winter imagery is a deliberate connection, suggesting Yuta sees Maki in a way similar to how he once viewed Rika.

4. Anime Q&A Hint

In a Q&A segment where the girls (and gojo) were asked about their type, Maki answered, “Someone who is stronger than me.”

Who is the strongest sorcerer alive by the end of the manga? Yuta. And Maki knows Yuta is stronger than her.

5. Yuta and Maki’s Bond in the Main Series

-before Yuta appears, Yutamaki was foreshadowed. Megumi introduces Maki by saying she’s rough with others, but Panda, blushing a little, adds that she’s much softer when she’s with Yuta. This suggests Maki treats Yuta differently from everyone else.

-When Yuta finally reunites with Maki after a long time, his first words to her are, “Are you okay? Can you move?” showing his immediate concern for her well-being.

-Maki is the one who reassures Yuta that he’s stronger than Hakari. Given that Maki specifically said her type is someone stronger than her, this is a meaningful statement.

-Maki comforts Yuta after Gojo’s death. She places a hand on his shoulder when he’s in deep distress, showing emotional support.

-Maki is the only one who visibly showed strongly opposing Yuta’s self-sacrificing nature. Even though his friends also oppose him, Maki is the only one who voiced it to him. She stresses about him risking his life and argues against it multiple times, showing how much she cares.

-After the final battle, Maki lectures Yuta for being worthless (actually more like risking his life that he almost died)

Yuta, kneeling with his head bowed and even tearing up, apologizes to Maki, something he hasn’t done to anyone else except Rika.

Maki yells at him, worried despite her tough demeanor.

I'll also quote during that scene:

Maki: "I'm not trying to blame Yuta, I got hit by multiple blackflashes! But this guy... ugh! nevermind."

Yuta: "??"

Panda and Inumaki giggle at them, as if they know she’s being a tsundere.

You see, This scene shows that Maki was really worried about him because he almost died.

-The last panel of Yuta shows him walking with his classmates, but he’s looking at Maki and smiling stupidly.

6. The Final Illustration and Epilogue

After the last chapter, Gege released an illustration of Yuta and Maki together, with Maki side-hugging Yuta while they both smile.

In the epilogue (JJK year 2080), Panda meets two children:

The grandson looks like Maki (or another Zen’in), with a clear resemblance.

The granddaughter looks like Yuta and wears Yuta and Rika’s ring necklace.

Panda directly calls them Yuta’s grandkids and says about the granddaughter, “She has a bad personality.”

Maki once said, “I have a bad personality.” in jjk 0. So The granddaughter’s personality seems to mirror Maki’s.

This heavily implies that these are Yuta and Maki’s descendants. Gege could have easily drawn random kids, but instead, he made sure one resembled a Zen’in and the other resembled Yuta, making the connection almost undeniable. Gege drew the grandkids for a reason.

7. Yuta’s Character Theme: Love

Yuta’s entire character revolves around love. He’s not the type to move on quickly or start a relationship with someone random, he deeply values strong bonds. Geto once called him a womanizer, but Yuta refuted it, saying, “How rude! It is pure love.” If he were to end up with an unknown NPC woman, it would completely contradict his character theme.

8. Jujutsu Kaisen Is a Shonen Series. Gege Doesn’t Care About Making Ships Canon for Fanservice

Let’s be real. Jujutsu Kaisen is a shonen battle manga, not a romance series. Gege Akutami isn’t interested in writing love stories or confirming ships just to satisfy fans. If they were, we would’ve seen explicit romances like in other series that cater more to shipping.

Gege barely focuses on romance in the story. The only “confirmed” couples are ones that existed before the story (Toji & Megumi’s mom) or happen entirely off-screen (Jiji & Yuji’s mom). semi-canon ships but less screen time (Mehamaru & Miwa ) and implied (Hakari & Kirara) , they all weren't focused enough so it should be the same way with Yutamaki.

That’s why most relationships in JJK, romantic or not, are built through implication rather than explicit statements.

Gege doesn’t care about confirming ships, especially since he purposely rushed the story. Yet, YutaMaki is one of the most developed pairings in JJK. Even though they remain friends throughout the series, their strong chemistry supports the possibility of them ending up together.

This is exactly why YutaMaki wasn’t shoved in our faces with a dramatic confession or wedding scene. Gege left hints instead of outright confirmations because that’s his style of storytelling.

Gege is more of a subtext writer than outright confirming. Yuji's mom being kenjaku wasn't stated but only visually shown, Kirara being trans wasn't stated but was visually shown in a bonus. So YutaMaki endgame not stated but visually shown would make sense. Explicitly confirming it wouldn’t matter and would be out of Gege’s writing style, especially since it’s irrelevant to the main story.

The idea that “it’s not canon unless it’s stated” ignores that JJK simply doesn’t operate that way. If Gege wanted to make an obvious fanservice couple, he would’ve done it, but he didn’t. Instead, he gave us Yuta and Maki’s bond, the implied grandkids scene, and all the subtext without spoon-feeding the conclusion.

At the end of the day, denying YutaMaki just because it isn’t “confirmed” is missing the bigger picture. Gege doesn’t care about forcing ships, but he still put in all these YutaMaki moments for a reason.

9. The "Yuta’s Grandkids Could Be Megumi’s Descendants" Theory Is Nonsense

Some people argue that Yuta’s grandkids in the epilogue must be related to Megumi instead of Maki, just because one of them looks like a Zen’in. Heres why this theory doesn’t make sense at all:

-Megumi Has Nothing to Do With Yuta’s Story

There’s no logical reason for Yuta’s grandkids to be linked to Megumi when he has nothing to do with Yuta’s personal story.

Yuta and Megumi barely have personal interactions in the manga. They respect each other as allies, but their relationship isn’t deep or significant to Yuta’s character arc.

If the epilogue was supposed to hint at a connection between Megumi’s bloodline and Yuta’s future, there would’ve been some kind of setup or foreshadowing in the main story, but there wasn’t, Thats why that would be an Asspull.

-assuming Yuta and Megumi got laid by some random npc girls

Straight to the point without process Megumi ending up with some random NPC girl out of nowhere makes no sense narratively. As for Yuta, if he ended up with a random NPC girl, it would contradict his character, making him a womanizer like Geto once said to him that Yuta despised. He already developed a strong bond with Maki, so why would he need to form another one when someone already compatible with him exists?

- If Yuta’s Descendants Weren’t Maki’s, It Would Undermine His Relationship with Her

If Yuta didn’t end up with Maki, then all their moments in JJK 0, the main series, and even the bonus chapter with the grandkids would have zero payoff.

What would be the point of all the hints, their strong chemistry, Panda shipping them, the deep emotional connections, and the grandkids both resembling Yuta and Maki if they weren’t actually endgame?

Gege isn’t the type to waste character arcs like that. If Yuta’s grandkids weren’t connected to Maki, their designs wouldn’t have been so obviously linked to her.

At the end of the day, Jujutsu Kaisen doesn’t confirm ships outright, but the subtext is undeniable, the epilogue strongly implies that Yuta and Maki ended up together and had a family. People can stay in denial, but the hints are all right there.

- The Epilogue Is from Panda’s POV

The perspective of the grandkids scene was from Panda.

And who has been one of the biggest YutaMaki shippers in the entire series? Panda.

If Panda sees Yuta’s grandkids and immediately connects them to both Yuta and Maki (especially pointing out the girl’s "bad personality," which Maki literally said about herself), then there’s a reason for that.

7. "timeskip Yuta had many years to develop a relationship with some girl" is nonsense.

That statement is bullshit. Jujutsu Kaisen is a written story, not real life. Fiction follows narrative structure and character development, not random off-screen events that aren't built up in the story.

If Gege wanted to establish Yuta forming a new relationship, he would have at least hinted at it. But instead, the story had Yuta’s bond with Maki. Fiction isn’t about "realistic possibilities" it’s about what is shown, implied, and developed within the narrative. Saying "it could’ve happened off-screen" is just an excuse to ignore the evidence in the actual story.

Conclusion

The amount of hints and foreshadowing throughout Jujutsu Kaisen strongly suggests that Yuta and Maki were intended to be endgame. Their relationship has been built up since JJK 0, and continued to develop throughout the main series. This leads up to the epilogue, like connecting pieces of puzzles together. However, the pairing is never explicitly stated in the story, but the evidence makes it clear.

If you still don’t see the YutaMaki vision after all this… well, you just don't like the ship and you're in denial and have no reading comprehension. But at least now you know why so many fans believe they’re canon.

Btw I'm not saying Yutamaki is canon, they are actually semi-canon because they're just hinted, not confirmed.

So she turns her attention to something else, and her eyes find in this particular light, the short hairs at Lisk's nape, that her ever-present ponytail can never quite catch, acquire a soft look. They're cute, for a lack of a better word. She fights the urge to touch them.

...Until Greyy has to step away. As Lisk's hand drops in farewell, Franka shifts forward to chin herself on Lisk's shoulder, sighing dramatically, fingertips drawing through those short locks. "So is my partner finally done talking work overtime, in the bar?"

Lisk raises a brow at her, but doesn't shrug her off. She must be feeling pretty comfortable. "Greyy's quite knowledgeable; it's interesting to hear his perspective."

"You don't know how to treat a lady on a date."

"I'm sure you have some thoughts about how I can 'make it up to you'," she drily replies, while sliding her arm behind Franka's back, a gentle yet firm hand brushing against her tail.

Franka smiles with teeth.

Hi! I would love to hear why you think Klaus and Bonnie would be a compatible or at least fascinating match :) I can tell you're going to turn me into a Klonnie shipper even though the last thing I need in my life is another doomed OTP!!

Hey :D I love a good doomed ship it makes the fandom more interesting especially in terms of creativity tbh.

Bonnie had proven herself to be just as morally corrupt as other characters as needed. Sure, it wasn’t to the extreme of others but it existed especially if her friends were threatened. That type of loyalty and strength would be what Klaus would like because of how possessive and selfish he is.

There’s Bennett-Mikaelson connections through the lore of TVD. Ayana was Esther’s mentor. Abby entombed Mikael. Then in present there’s Esther prasing Bonnie for being the one to fight Klaus. Elijah recruited Bonnie to do it. Both Bonnie and Klaus have parental struggles on both sides. Klaus is more forefront than Bonnie’s but it exists. Tagging my friends content here :).

Klaus was introduced with an affinity for witches (Gloria, Maddox, Greta..)it was just dropped after well you know ;). But in a sibling light I could see both Rebekah and Kol taking a liking to Bonnie. Rebekah wanted that normal highschool experience and Kol was formerly a witch. We got a little bit of Kennett moments in s4 but that was dropped. Bonnie is the only TVD character to never have her own side friend out the group.

Narratively TVD would’ve just had to work with their few key points to make Klonnie a slow burn ship from s2-4 tbh. Bonnie kept getting the short-stick. Season 3 she got cheated on, her mother abandoned again, she had all the reasons to distant herself from her friends and end up in someone’s darker arms. The Mikaelson Ball ep Esther is leeching off Bonnie and her bloodline yet Bonnie is no where to be found… huh… Bonnie doesn’t get enough in universe credit for her actions because she has not only nearly killed Klaus she has saved his life(and everyone else’s.)

Season 4 Bonnie was dipping into a darker side with Expression and she blindly trusted Shane just to learn magic. It would be another moment for Klaus to try and get in her good graces. Klaus would have to open up emotionally for Bonnie to sympathize with him. I think they would challenge each other. Bonnie is one of the female characters who can fight back to people who are trying to harm her in a way Elena or Caroline can’t tbh.

Bonnie wasn’t just any witch either she was a Bennett which her family is responsible for nearly everything in TVD. I don’t think Klaus would’ve suddenly became a “Disney prince” type of BF by any means but I could see the relationship working. Klaus is still an elitist bastard with years of knowledge Bonnie would want. Bonnie is willing to give that loyalty to anyone who is good to her. Cami is seen as good and she even falls for Klaus lmao.

Last point people only play morality clauses with Bonnie because the series does. By the end of TVD Bonnie considers Damon not Elena or Caroline or Matt her bestfriend. That should say enough about what Bonnie would allow but….The writers and fans will argue that Bonnie doesn’t deserve to be paired up with toxic men or women but TVD never introduced anyone that was “morally good” by our world standards. Even Enzo physically harmed Bonnie pre-relationship. The other leads are white and never held to the same standards. Elena said it was Stefan until it wasn’t. Caroline said no to Klaus until she didn’t. Hayley’s arc includes with her fucking Klaus and dating Elijah… the list could continue.

thank you so much for the tag, @theoneandonlysemla! 💖 I thought I'd join in on the WIP Wednesday train and share an excerpt from the in-progress ninth chapter of i fear no fate (for you are my fate), especially since said chapter made it to 1, 000 words yesterday! so, here's Miraak admiring his new manicure courtesy of Elentari:

Miraak blinks. He blinks once, twice, thrice. Then, so slowly he could still be wrapped up in the web of a dream, he turns his trembling hand over and over and over again, palm-back-palm-back in a blur of ink-stained fingertips and scarred, sun-starved skin. This time, his gaze is fixed, hunting for the tell-tale flicker of something that would break the spell and betray the illusion, because the part of him that has not yet escaped Apocrypha is certain that this must be one final trick of the mind from the Prince who’d sought to claim him forevermore. After all, he remembers it all too well, the way he’d once stood by and watched as those already half-maddened from decades lost pacing the same paths through Mora’s realm had exclaimed aloud and gripped a tome like a treasure, and the way their shouts of victory had sharpened to screams as the knowledge for which they’d damned themselves twisted before their scouring eyes. The way it must have felt almost like a relief after that, to give in to the inevitable. And still the sight before him refuses to alter. Still he remembers the warmth—the light—that had flooded him the moment his same-soul had granted him the sound of his truest name ringing from her lips like a golden bell hung in the very heart of her. His claws are gone. His claws are gone, and the woman whose healer’s touch had purged them from him— Elentari is still elsewhere, neither here with him nor lingering behind in their shared dream of his homeland. And that's where many "russian" fairytales wihout an actual origin come from? Did you know about the Night of the Executed Poets? It's like Розстріляне Відродження but in Belarus. Please learn the actual history of Belarus instead of spreading stupid harmful russian propaganda. russians are rapists and mass murderers.

2. Same thing, but now posted by a roleplay Latvia account. Op, you should visit real Latvia one day, I'm actually curious how fast you're gonna end up being beaten to near-death experience.

3-4. *heavy sigh* It always amazed me how people in this fandom refuse to educate themselves, refuse to improve their knowledge based on the real world but just stick to same ideas FOR YEARS, to ideas once drawn by a crack-addicted prorussian Japanese who wasn't even able to graduate. Lithuania is such an amazing country, with an opulent history and culture - but the only thing you're interested in is... drawing russia abusing Lithuania? Why are you, guys, so addicted to genocide and violence? Why do you think mocking our national tragedies is funny and acceptable, dear artist from "China, Hong Kong"? Would you like it if somebody drew, e.g., America or India beating up your home till blood, calling your home "a kid in the basement"? I don't think so! The fact you think it's funny and totally normal to post publicly is genuinely pathetic.

Also, the fact many artists here use "russia abusing Lithuania" trope to put their OTP in the best light (usually LietPol, occasionally AmeLiet)... it's making me speechless. See, one of the countries who actually has been protecting Lithuania from russia for centuries is Ukraine - due to our geographical position and resources - nevertheless, I, as a Ukrainian, would never dare to draw Ukraine "saving poor little Lithuania from russia." Because this is REALLY offensive. In Ukraine, we know perfectly well how much suffering russia caused to others, and how many, e.g., Lithuanians died protecting their home - portraying them as Damsell in Distress means just nullifying and mocking all their sacrifices and tragedies. Once again I am convinced that only Eastern Europeans are capable of understanding this. Personally, as much as I love Lithuania, I would hate to see anyone drawing Glorious GDL saving poor little crying Ukraine from the Golden Horde - because the majority who suffered and who fought the Horde were still Ukrainians. Even if Lithuania still helped us a lot and fought with us, too. With Poland, it's even more complicated and fragile, because Poland used to kill a lot of Lithuanians and destroy their culture, and even making alliances with russia to divide my land - and even the Poland's partition by russia didn't prevent the 1920s massacres.

Being for cereal Dana, I'm only surprised you resisted the urge to ask about them first!

Aporia:

Why I like them/why I don’t

I took a while to warm on Aporia and admittedly a lot of that warming was because of a rewatch in light of Dana's S-tier propaganda re-contextualizing him. With the benefit of getting the full experience, I can very confidently call Aporia a very good villain, one who's given some great duels and some interesting character dynamics- especially with Leo and Z-One before the end of his journey.

I also just have to bring up Aporia's name and the symbolism tied to it, given it's referencing either the personification of perplexity, powerlessness, and want of means, or the theorem related to confusion caused by multiple pieces of evidence supporting different answers, tying back into his origin point as three different takes on the same person and their despair.

What I like about their appearance

He's this big massive motherfucker who looks like an architect's worst nightmare for door design with them massive shoulderpads lol. I do love the shoulderpads ngl, especially with how they make him resemble Astro Mekanikle!

But for real I do love how Aporia genuinely does look like a patchwork of the three Emperors while still having a distinct style and identity of his own. His new design also leans into a divine angel much more heavily, and while I don't quite have the words or ability to explain it very well, I can still point at the wings he creates and go "Hey look he's a fallen angel here to represent his one true God."

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?

Same in both, fortunately.

Performance wise it's a close toss up. Masakazu Nemoto's turn in the Japanese is a great performance, and he's obviously allowed to show much more range than the dub actor due to the circumstances of the dub's ending, meaning he gets much more time to strut his stuff like in the duel against Jack and the Twins.

Jamal Najum Khan gets less time in the sun but I've always been fond of his odd little enunciation habits that meant I clocked him in seconds as the voice of Christopher in Zexal as a result. I find I play Aporia more in DL when I have the English voices installed, if that's any indicator? Largely because I adore how Khan says some of the lines like "Meklord Army of SKIEL!" I also like that they gave Khan a chance through the taunts and win/loss lines to say a lot of the major lines he missed a chance to.

You know it's that horrible, no good, fucked up old man yaoi in Zoneporia baby. Aporia's absolute trust in Z-One when they work together to rebuild him, the intimacy that it must have taken to trust Z-One with the knowledge of his three greatest despairs, and then trying to use that trust to win Z-One over in their duel only for Z-One to coldly shoot him down (and then warmly shoot him down by burning him alive :) :) ). I have a soft spot for relationships where elements of worship and divinity creep in so this is very much an up my alley ship.

Favourite card they use

Torn between Fortissimo just because of how awesome it is that we get a spin on the "Marik merging with Ra" thing that every series homages eventually by having Aporia merge with a Field Spell, and my big asshole friend Astro Dragon Triskelion with whom I have cheesed several wins with on Duel Links.

Favourite moment they were in

It's either his matches against Jack and the Twins or his last stand against Z-One, but honestly these flow into the other as one big collected moment. I think his role as the villain for Jack and the Twins takes it though, with him being this literal wall that tears Jack and Luna to shreds (while he has a needle being stabbed into their hearts no less!) and leads to Leo stepping up and locking in enough to generate an entirely new Signer Mark, causing Life Stream Dragon's creation! What a good duel.

Least favourite moment

Sure is funny how in the dub continuity Aporia just rolls up, talks some mad shit about the future, Yusei goes "OK," kills him so hard he explodes, and then the world is saved. Almost like Z-One saw that happen and went "OK we're not fucking with Yusei, prevent the apocalypse and run, leave him Bruno as a peace offering."

And when I say funny I mean kinda lame. :/

Why I like them/why I don’t

I didn't give much thought to Z-One for a few years, largely because a lot of the discussion around him for a while was just dominated by the whole "Was Z-One meant to be an evil future Yusei" argument that I've... never really had a horse in the race for.

With time though, I've become a convert and I'd now comfortably put Z-One in my top 3 final boss list alongside Yubel and Ai. I love what he represents as a threat, his backstory is super fucked up and tragic, and his duel with Yusei is just a pinnacle of spectacle with them flying in and around Neo Domino as the Cradle comes closer and closer. I love that he was born from a need to just try and save everyone, even sacrificing his very identity and sense of self to try and save the world, only to be let down and fail in an ugly, horrific manner that leaves him a broken old man.

It's also great that mechanically, Zone's deck feels appropriately alien by the standards of that era of Yugioh. He casually summons out Level 10 monsters, he's playing literal hand-traps, and the Timelords mechanically fit their theme well. "Damaged me? No you didn't, I'm back at 4K. Summon a bunch of monsters? I'm resetting the board state and sending them to hand." His deck denies his opponent the chance to even exist against the Timelords, and that's sick.

It also must be stressed that his themes are so good. His anime theme has a wide range to represent the full duel but it's a non-stop banger throughout, and his Duel Links theme re-contextualizes him into a tragic figure with a much more lonely and ethereal theme that also, because Duel Links music is GOATed like that, calls back to Yusei's theme to both show that Z-One views his actions as heroic and to show the influence Yusei has had on him.

Would Evil Yusei have been neat? Maybe, but I'm perfectly happy with what we got for Z-One.

He's the source of the world's most ugly kin drama, who can hate that?

What I like about their appearance

That weird flying conch shell that makes him look like a magatama... his massive grabby claws for his cards, the shattered mask showing Yusei's old, weathered face, it's all so good.

I also love that if you look at Z-One's cosplay look as Yusei in the future clips, he gets stuff wrong! Yusei's orange circles are made squares, the shirt has a different design, the bike has different stripes, it's a bunch of small touches that add up to create a very good Uncanny Valley effect!

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?

Same in both!

Vocally this is such a hard pick, because I legit thing both performances in dub and sub are perfect 10/10s... with the caveat of the dub getting Duel Links. Hideo Ishikawa really does capture how old and desolate Z-One is, barely expressing emotion for the majority of his screentime- and what little he does express is usually buried underneath a vocal filter that strips away his humanity. It's only when Yusei cracks his face-plate and shows the man under the mask that Ishikawa begins to get more expressive (and shows in his own way that even a God can bleed), it's a good touch for the performance.

Marc Thompson though, is a legend. And his turn as Z-One is one of his best performances in my opinion alongside Astral in Zexal and his audiobooks as Thrawn in Star Wars. He's a bit more expressive than Ishikawa, a little bit more sadistic and enjoying himself. I don't know why Marc decided to purr and chuckle for half of his lines but I'm not complaining, I assure you dear viewer I was Very Normal about the voicelines.

I may just give it to Marc though purely for how in Duel Links, Z-One has summoning chants for Yusei's ace dragons so I got to hear this old man shout LET'S REV IT UP and that made my day. Both are so good though.

I love all the Timelords, but I'm especially fond of Michion and Sephylon! They're such freaky little creatures.

His entire duel with Yusei is just a fantastic final boss battle all around (Quasar summon lives rent-free in my mind alongside Z-One whipping out the literal Tree of Life to summon Sephylon), but I think my favorite singular moment is when he lets Aporia stake everything on hope only to casually show how much he was holding back when he summons Lazion to ruin Aporia's plan and dares him to draw Afterglow again, using his crushing victory against Aporia to try and demoralize Team 5D's. Absolutely fantastic scene-setter for Z-One.

I don't think I have one for Z-One? Beyond that his stuff just wasn't dubbed, I guess.

Favorite thing about them

Well, everything about Ludwig is just great: the design, the lines, the ost, the lore, the bossfight after all - he's one of my faves in Bloodborne! But for this question, i would choose insight/bestiality dichotomy in Ludwig. Usually these parameters are opposed, both in lore and in gameplay. They are opposed in Ludwig, too, but he seems to possess both and at the same time. he saw the arcane knowledge (and quite literally took it for himself) BUT ALSO he is a hunter who has become a malformed beast, roaming in a pit with his victims… i think this feaure is pretty unique to him, and this tells about him a lot.

Least favorite thing about them

As i said earlier, i like pretty much everything about Ludwig :'D but i think the thing i don't enjoy as much as the rest is fighting his second phase... it is still great and fun, i just needed to choose one.

Favorite line

Good hunter, have you seen the thread of light? Just a hair, a fleeting thing, yet I clung to it, steeped as I was in the stench of blood and beasts. I never wanted to know, what it really was. Really, I didn't.

Random headcanon

Keeping in mind the lore implications (Sword description + Guidance rune description + Tomb Prospector set/remains of clothes on Ludwig), I headcanon that he used to be among first prospectors. More than that, he formed his workshop mostly of his past buddies who agreed to abandon the tombs, at least for the first time. I also think he really liked doing the research and appreciated this period of his life very much, and became a hunter not because he wanted to change his occupation but because he felt like he MUST do it (his tragic chivalric ideals)

Unpopular opinion

I haven't interacted much with Bloodborne communtity for a while (I have interacted with the same community but mostly regarding Elden Ring because yeah but you got what I mean), but I think my opinions on Ludwig are pretty common? The only thing that comes to mind is that i enjoy fighting first phase more than second but can't say it is very rare

Some fresh art because I saw this trend and just couldn't resist.

So I've drawn Irna on her first days in Dwemereth and many years later. From the assassin and priestess who lost her place to well-respected mender and loved woman.

She had to flee Morag Tong order despite being one of its most loyal and devoted assassins. Knowing that MT might hunt down her then friend, Arkndchal-Savak, she went to Nchuleftingth where he was at that time and warned him of the danger; eventually they left Vvardenfell together and moved to the Silent City where Arkndchal-Savak was born and lived most of the time.

Arkndchal-Savak asked the king for protection on her behalf; Dumac agreed, because Irna is Nerevar's sister (and she offered her knowledge as well) — but not before they could test her. Apart from being basically not being able to leave the city for a whole year, she had to spend her first month in Light Negation, the artifact which not only didn't let her see anything, but also suppressed her ability to sense magic beyond a small radius. This artifact isn't meant to humiliate anyone though, it's just used to not let noble and valuable visitors see what shouldn't be seen. And still... For Irna it was quite difficult.

And there is she again, but years later and not alone. Despite almost dying after the Morag Tong attack on her and lots of other hardships (pretty traumatising sometimes, to be fair), she became a respected medic and is happily married to Arkndchal-Savak, and they (who would think? and yet here we are thanks to Nerevar) mutually love each other, always protecting and deeply caring for each other. Fun fact: this is the first (and only) time they both fell in love. Neither Irna nor Arkndchal-Savak previously had any experience with love relationship like this.

And yeah, drawing so many details in such complicated angle kills me, but I caught a hyperfixation on this idea. Sooooo now I can cherish one of my best OTPs :D

What are your writing strengths? I think I'm pretty good at nailing down characters, or at least knowing when I'm getting a bit OOC. I also feel like I do a great job writing internal thought processes!

So ... on the one hand, I enjoy having personalized character or ship tags based in some relevant quote from the source material. The only major exceptions are for P&P, my favorite book. My Darcy/Elizabeth ship tag is #otp of otps for obvious reasons, and my Darcy tag is #lady anne blogging, which is just a silly joke about him being my #1 fave—a sort of "I love him as much as his own mother could" and "I don't have a crush on him, ew, but he is my blorbo of ultimate destiny."

Presently ears-deep in Destiny/D2 but I am also a big Titanfall2 fan, LOVE Trigun, and Final Fantasy 7 and its derivatives will forever live in my heart. I also have a marriage and over 25 year relationship built on Star Wars and I've seen The Nightmare Before Christmas 109 times.

Obviously I write, and draw, but I also enjoy painting resin figures (I can't really call my preference for larger scale models 'minifgures' but like that). I'm a actively practicing and learning lapidary (I carve rocks) and rockhound (I go out and search for and collect rocks) and rock collector lol. I love rocks. XD I'm also big into plants and have a huge indoor houseplant collection, and a pretty robust garden, and start a lot of stuff by seed most years. Removing myself from the earth, I'm also a license pilot although I haven't flown in years due to both medical and financial restrictions. (renting an airplane is fucking expensive RIP lol) Flying isn't something I actively practice anymore but the knowledge, culture, and fascination and love of flying and airplanes is burned into my bones and I don't think it's ever going to go away. <3

I think I'm a pretty decent writer. I'd like to think I generally am pretty good at understanding people too. Like, seeing things from their perspectives and understanding their needs and wants and intentions and all that. It's what I like to write about too, fundamentally so they go hand in hand I guess.

What’s the origin of your blog title?

It’s a line from Mark Owen’s song “Come Back”, which has been speaking to me lately. (Actually, I think if I’d heard it in any of the time since it came out, it would’ve spoken to me the whole time, but that’s neither here nor there)

Favorite Color

Yellow 💛 , though I love red/black/white/gold together in any combo. Light blue also really speaks to me as well. I just love colors…

Weirdest Habit/Trait

Can’t talk too much about eyeball stuff or even really look into someone’s eyes in person without my eyes watering aggressively. It’s fucking embarrassing as hell and has lead to a fair few awkward moments.

Hobbies?

Not even sure I’ve got a lot of what constitutes as ‘hobbies’ right now? I guess my occasional photo editing and rare bead bracelet making would suffice, though the bracelets especially have been solely for myself.

If you work, what’s your profession?

I sort clothes at a thrift store, pretty much. It’s a lot more physical labor than you’d expect, but I get to listen to music or podcasts or fic all day long, and I rarely have to face customers, so I’m pretty happy there even if it feels like I don’t exist in the eyes of my coworkers 95% of the time.

If you could have any job you wish, what would it be?

The dream jobs that always cycle back regardless of impossibility are: special education teacher, music journalist, drummer/bassist/singer in a band though not all at once, and fashion designer…what lofty dreams I have, huh?

Something you’re good at?

I pride myself at being a good listening ear, if nothing else. I’m also pretty good at identifying 80s hits, but that’s not helpful unless it’s trivia night.

The complexity of romance/friendship/sex.

I apparently forget people’s birthdays…so sorry about that!

What’s your love language?

Shared experiences, always. Call it a side effect of my lifelong loneliness, but I cherish experiences with people I hold dear.

Favorite movie is Ocean’s 11, favorite show is 21 Jump Street :^)

Red beans and rice first and foremost…but beyond that I’m pretty basic and just love peel and eat shrimp.

What were you like as a child?

I’m probably not the one to ask about this if I’m honest haha…I was dealing with not properly diagnosed autism and social issues stemming from not talking until I was 4.5 yrs old. I used to chase boys on the playground and threaten to kiss them if I caught them (I never did but once) because I thought being boy crazy was something everyone did but I went too far with it. I was obsessed with dogs and cats, obsessed over cartoons and animation history, listened to oldies music from the 60s-80s while my peers were obsessed with Disney Channel music and hip-hop…I was a bit of a bookworm but not in the way other neurodivergent kids were to my knowledge. I had noise sensitivity issues that made social situations in large crowds REALLY tough. I’ve been told I was caring towards classmates who didn’t have a voice when I was able to lend that support. I wanted to be friends with everyone even if I wasn’t good at keeping them. Besides the constant company of my older sister, my childhood was pretty lonely on the whole.

Favorite subject at school?

Anything with computers, then history/social studies, then English. Could take or leave everything else.

Least favorite subject?

Math, but turns out it’s probably because I have the math form of dyslexia (along with ACTUAL dyslexia lol)

What’s your best character trait?

I…I don’t know. You should REALLY be asking my mutuals about that, I can’t come up with anything besides my kindness, I guess?

What’s your worst character trait?

I’m self introspective to the point of obsession, and it kinda leaks out into other factions of my life, especially my self esteem/image.

If you could change any detail of your life right now, what would it be?

I wish I had a more solid support system, but that’s something I should’ve been working on for years. But I think that would change my life/outlook on it more than anything short of systemic social change right now.

If you could travel in time, who would you like to meet?

There’s living people I’d like to meet right now (Robbie Williams and Michael Stipe spring to mind first), but if we’re speaking people who have passed, I’d say I’d either like to meet Michael Hutchence, or I’d like to have one more day with my late grandfather.

11. What is their love language?

They just do things for each other. So what is that? Acts of service? Scotty just takes care of things that need to be fixed or done before McCoy thinks to ask, and McCoy just takes care of Scotty without thinking about it.

12. How Are there communication skills?

They read each other very well. They are that couple standing behind everyone communicating by just a brow lift or glance. They may each have times where they kind of shut down and aren’t ready to talk, but the other is patient and waits and they can talk through it like adults.

13. A little personal… but… Hot and Steamy or Soft and Tender?

Both, depending on the mood. Probably soft and tender more often (as they are growing older 😝 ) but after a stressful mission and Jim’s antics, a rush of adrenaline and the actual knowledge the other is safe could spice things up.

14. How did they first meet?

AOS gives us that moment where everyone is on the bridge (Can I get a towel?) but we don’t get that on TOS, so that’s more interesting to think about. (And even though I don’t watch it, who knows how or if SNW might make that happen.) But this is asking what I think, so, I think Scotty was on the ship first and McCoy joined later when Jim became captain. Through Jim they probably became aware of each other (obviously as senior staff) but probably didn’t think much about the other. Scotty probably showed up in medbay, injured of course, and McCoy fixed him up and they got talking, because how could Scotty get hurt and not make light jokes about it? And from there they probably connected a bit more at meals, after shifts, sharing a drink and Jim stories.

15. Why do they like each other?

Scotty loves McCoy’s huge heart, that he hides away under his grumpy and gruff exterior. He cares for everyone so much and so tenderly even if he is berating them, because he worries so much about everyone and it’s how he shows how he cares.

McCoy loves Scotty’s outgoing nature. He’s upbeat and makes everyone around him happier for them being near him. Even if he gets mad at his younger engineers, he wants to teach them how to be better next time.

7. Who's clumsier?

In the day to day neither of them are all that clumsy. Consider that a product of their bending and training. However, there are instances when Lin might be more clumsy than Tenzin. Have her out of her element doing something she may not be particularly used to and she's on rocky waters so to speak, well, good luck to her 🫡 

Tenzin as a bender is not only self aware of his body/movements, but years of training as an Air bender he is particularly light/graceful on his feet.

If either of them catch a glimpse of the other’s booty, all bets are off and they’re tripping on their own feet.

17. Who is more competitive?

Ooh this one I can see going either way. Lin is blatantly more competitive when they are sparring and things like that. However, Tenzin also has the tendency to take things and himself too seriously. So he’ll make a competition out of the trivial things that don’t matter, such as how well either of their art came out or how much Oogi likes either one of them.

27. Craziest place they had sex?

I did answer that one here, suggesting Raiko’s office out of spite and a changing room in the shopping mall.

5. Who is the cheesier one of the two?

Bumi. He’s more expressive with his affection. Pet names, big gestures, PDA… things of that nature. Lin gets embarrassed and acts like she hates it, but she can’t deny that part of her secretly loves it.

15. Who's the first to cry during movies that don't seem sad?

Lin. She’ll be crying happy tears the main character, despite all the trials and tribulations they were put through, were able to get their happy ending. Bonus points if the movie had a found family situation. I can see her internalizing any of the conflicts the characters had in the movie and it ends up spilling over. Meanwhile, Bumi enjoys the movie for what it is and has a higher degree of separation of himself from the movie.

25. (a lil sappy, but..) What do they like about each other?

Lin loves that Bumi underneath all the foolishness he can exude, is actually a genuine and standup guy. He is quite adept when it comes to reading others, and it's helpful that she doesn’t always need to tell him what may be wrong or what’s on her mind. Somehow, he just… knows. He makes *a vague circular hand wave* everything easy for her.

Bumi loves that not only is she a strong and capable woman who doesn’t take shit, but there’s a part of her that would do anything for the ones she loves. She’s not afraid to tell it like it is and he appreciates that realness.

I went with 1. Who is the better cook? (Linzin and Linumi)

Lin is technically the better cook. However, I say this meaning that she has a small rotation of dishes she cooks out of a sake of efficiency. But because she is so efficient in the kitchen, the few recipes she knows, she has on lock. 

When she takes time off, she’ll use that time to practice/try something new to swap in and out of her rotation.

Tenzin is not that great of a cook. He is an excellent baker though. 

With their powers combined, they eat well. They try to make kitchen activities a bonding moment for them.

Bumi is actually quite the excellent cook. He’s had to be resourceful and has also had greater exposure to local/traditional cuisines from around the world in his time in the United Forces. He’s gained knowledge on what spices and techniques to use and applies them to impress Lin on occasion.
