Summary: You're the one who stole the Dark Lord's heart, yet you're dying in his arms.

A Forbidden Promise

"Don't go. I — I cannot follow you there. You can't go. You can't go." His voice was frenetic, desperate in a way the dark lord never sounded. How could he not be? You're dying in his arms, the only sweet touch, warmth, love he's ever known. And he will never be able to follow you to Mandos. "Please, I will never be able to go with you there, please."

His plea sounds like he wants to go tho. A begging, maybe the first time in more than two ages that Mairon of the Maiar actually regrets his choices. In you he found his perfection. And now he would lose it. Was that the vengeance of the Valar?

You raise your weak hand, resting it on this face. With your thumb you wipe one of the tears from his cheek. Even now he is as beautiful as the first time you saw each other.

"I — I will come back. For you, I will come back." Your voice is not much more than an whisper. Yet, somehow you make a disbelieving smile appears on his lips.

"Who would give up paradise for me? For Sauron?" The name disgust you as much as it disgust him, and your face probably shows it because he sighs. "If you're leaving me, at least leave saying the truth. It's too... cruel to say it. For I never hoped before."

That makes you give him a pity sad smile. Ignoring the pain, you do everything you can to raise yourself. He holds you tighter, his warmth is what you need to concentrate even when your vision starts to fade.

"Mairon, endanya¹. Hear the last words of the one who stole your heart." This make you see for one last time the sweet smile that he only ever directed to you. "As I promised once, I will never lie to you."

He presses his forehead against yours. For the last time you breathe the same air. "So I dare to command you, Mairon or whatever name you desire to hear now: learn to hope." I little cry escapes your lips, and you feel his hands tremble where he holds you, for a moment you lose your mind and all you can hear is the blood dripping. It's a shame, his always beautiful tunics will forever be stained within your blood now.

Even so, he won't stop holding you. So you do everything you can to reassure him again. He needs to understand, he must believe.

"Learn to hope." You mumble. "For I shall return to you."

You no longer can see or feel, your hand falling from his face is the first sign you went to the undying lands. But you were right. And Mairon, Sauron, does not let you go. He holds you tightly, in a crying so long it's impossible to believe that that destroyed and devastated being was once Morgoth's heir.

The grief is too much and, when he finally let you, there's no one to hear but the wind while he whispers:

"I — I'm yours to command, endanya. I will hear whatever name you call me. I will do whatever you wish. I will hope — I will hope for you."

A promise and a threat. Because in his soul he knows; you were the only one that could stop what's coming for Middle Earth. You were the only one that could stop him.

So now even the wind hopes. You need to return.

Endanya¹ = if i did the word correctly it should be quenya for "my love/my soul", but in a deeper way of calling the one you love "your everything". In my mind, when Sauron says it he is also telling that the reader is his light.

Long rambling post incoming...

This has been going round and round in my mind and I have to get it out.... I just have to say it. I do not want a BTVS reboot, and my stomach drops every time I think about it. I am happy for the people who are excited, but quite honestly I am dreading it. I have loved Buffy since I was a child, and I watched it through properly as an adult 15 years ago. Spuffy is my OTP, my number 1 ship. It goes without saying that I love Buffy, but Spike is one of my favourite fictional characters ever, and their fictional relationship literally changed my DNA. The ending of BTVS was bittersweet, but perfect; no, they didn't end up together, but I found my peace and happiness in their beautiful ending. And of course, Spike was then ressurected, so I could also headcanon that one day they would find their way back to each other. I NEED that headcanon. I was perfectly content in my freedom to believe what I wanted to without it ever being confirmed either way, and I would give anything to just be able to live in that space of freedom forever. I have had Spuffy as a beautiful gem to love and cherish for 15 years and return to for comfort whenever another of my ships gets destroyed, it is everything to me.

There is now a good chance that the Buffy reboot will come back and confirm anything and everything that I never wanted to know- that although Spike was alive, he and Buffy did not get back together; that God forbid (sorry Bangels) Buffy and Angel got back together; that Buffy ended up with some random guy (the Sookie treatment); that Spike's life wasn't happy after his ressurection; that he and Buffy never played a meaningful part in each other's lives ever again. I just don't want to KNOW that, and if anything that goes against my headcanon is confirmed, I can never unlearn it. I wish I could be like the fans who just choose to ignore canon that they don't like and don't let it ruin their ship/show, but I can't, I've never been able to. If I learn something about Spuffy, Spike or Buffy that goes against everything I ever hoped and dreamed about, it will change and potentially ruin my love of the ship and the show, and I don't know if I can handle that.

Also I've never read the comics, but checked in with the storyline every so often- and although I don't consider it canon in the way the show was (I know it *technically* is but YKWIM) it was always a HUGE comfort to me that they continued with Spuffy's story and actually had the end up together! (I know they ended the comics apart, but again, I can headcanon that they reunited down the line).

Again, I'm happy for those that are excited. If they just bring Buffy in as a guest star role to mentor younger slayers and never confirm how the specifics of her (love) life has played out, that would be great! Spuffy, Bangel, Fuffy, other Buffy x ? shippers, fans of single Buffy and anything else can all keep our own headcanons alive. I doubt it though. If they confirmed that her and Spike ended up in together and are still together, that would be a fucking dream come true and my soul would literally ascend from my body, but again... I highly doubt it.

It's just if there was anything I would have wished to stay ended, it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have already had so many ships destroyed that I now try to just have low/no expectations anymore when I'm enjoying new fandoms, but Spuffy was a ship I thought was frozen in amber and that I could love with all my heart, forever. I feel like the reboot is about to change that and I am on a slippery slope to getting my shipper and fandom heart irreparably broken, and... I don't know what I'll do.

I just finished Mag 39 Infestation, and I have stuff to say

First of all, I've lost count of how many times I've replayed the part where Jon screams during the worm removal. (I swear I'm not a freak.) It's just so funny.

Second, Elias is a terrible employer. If he doesn't give them extra pay for this, I swear- I don't care if I have to face eldritch horrors, as long as I'm paid for anything that wasn't in the contract. And judging by their reactions, I'm pretty sure "worm queen" wasn't in the job description.

Third, what happened to Sasha?! Is this the same thing that happened to the guy who munched on notebooks? I ?1 know Jon should have listened and destroyed the table, but NOOOO. She was saved, right? I mean, they're in The Magnus Institute!

Fourth, I love how Jon still finds time to sass Martin even when they're in mortal danger, e.g., 'it's not my fault we're going to be eaten by worms.', 'Even you must be aware that that's not normal for an archiving job?', 'He didn't think at all.', etc.

Fifth, why does Jon say Martin so much? Even when they're alone, he slips his name into almost every sentence, he doesn't do that with Tim or Sasha. I only noticed because I love the way he says Martin, it scratches a very specific itch in my brain.

Sixth, my OTP for this season would be, Jonathan x tape recorders. Try to find a better enemies to lovers and fail miserably.

Seventh, I strive to be as iconic as Tim was in this episode.

Eighth, just... Jon's screams. Him screaming for the entire episode. Perfection.

Ninth, Jon: You know what would be fucked up? If Tim opens the door and Jane Prentiss is waiting for us on the other side. *Tim opens the door to Jane Prentiss waiting for them.* Jon: Shit.

i want your billdip headcanosn i recently watched gravity falls and i see such potential for them but id like to hear otherintwrpretations

The JOY I got at receiving this ask!!! Billdip has been my otp for years I've got so many.

Dipper is obsessed with finding answers and intrigued by basically everything, which is of course what drew him to Bill.

Bill finds the Pines family in general fascinating, they're his playthings and Obsession in his own way. Pinetree is the only one who he's really focused on though, the way he talks back and is determined for answers entertains him more than anything

Dipper needs Bill, he's the only one he can really decipher and understand as he's been bullied and outcast his whole life.

He's also the only one who can keep his busy mind occupied

Bill keeps Dippers nightmares at bay as he's got a lot of troubles from his adventures, doesn't mean he won't give him his own little dreams on occasion with a special cipher touch

Bill teaches Dipper magic and runes, mostly out of curiosity but he ends up silently impressed at how much he is capable of as a human.

They fight and argue a LOT. They're at complete different ends of morality, and that makes them clash. Though Dipper finds himself less and less concerned by Bill's behaviour as time passes, and if Bill happens to gain a soft spot... who can say anything.

I think there relationship would be initially built on a deal, something that protects the rest of the Pines family for certain. But Dipper is Bill's. He can do what he want with him.

They do have soft moments, despite it all. Dipper sharing stories of humanity that Bill would never truly understand, and the demon in turn sharing tales of the past and the universe itself.

Bill initially just wanted to use Dipper and manipulate him through whatever means necessary but instead he fell hard.

Bills only capable of a very obsessive kind of love, anyone who gets too close to HIS sapling should be wary.

Dipper has a moral crisis about weekly, he's dating a demon. Who tried to destroy his entire family. But god he can't pull away and Bill makes some very compelling arguments.

If and when Bill would be able to get his own human form it would be built specifically for Dippers pleasure and want.

Being human does make Bill seem more human, though he is of course still himself sometimes he finds himself feeling a new kind of fondness he never knew before

Dipper also sometimes forgets until he pushes too hard and his demon side makes it clear where they stand. Bill will always be the more powerful one in the relationship and Dipper will always be HIS.

I think I'm going to leave it there for now. But I could probably rant forever about these two. I tried to keep this broad so I can definitely do more specific hcs in the future.
