Why do you think the Savior dying would have broken the curse? Did I miss something?

Maybe it's because I haven't seriously sought out OuaT fanfic in years, and maybe it's because when I did/do I was mainly looking for SwanQueen fics, but I don't think I ever saw anything that used the fact that the Savior dying would have broken the original curse.

Like I get being wary of Main Character death, but I feel like there's so much potential for the curse just breaking one day, for no discernible reason, and it hasn't been 28 years yet, and everyone, at different rates, figures out the inevitable answer. And the the havoc that wreaks on Storybrooke.

And without Emma "slaying" Maleficent, there's no egg to bring back magic, so Mr. Gold can't use magic to shape things or find answers. Maybe he can convince Charming to do to get answers about his daughter, maybe he can't.

And has Henry been born yet? Has he yet learned that he's adopted? Does he learn to hate his mother, or does he love his mommy and doesn't understand why everyone suddenly hates her? Does he get taken in by Snow and Charming? What happens to Regina? Do they kill her, or lock her up? Does she escape? Does she take Henry?

Emma doesn't even have to stay dead for all of this to happen. She could have had a heart attack, or a surgery or something where she temporarily flat-lines long enough to be legally/magically dead, but is successfully revived.

Fate could still bring her to Storybrooke on her 28th birthday. Hell, it could still be Henry looking for his birth mother, but maybe instead of trying to find a savior, he's trying to find someone to help him rescue his actual mother, Regina. Maybe this becomes a SwanQueen story while we're at it.

Just there's so much possibility, and I genuinely don't recall encountering a single fic with the premise of, "what if Emma died before the start of the show?"

The conversations between Dark Swan and Dark Hook were so fascinating. Seeing the darkness go back and forth between them, and seeing the bits of humanity still left in these people, and then seeing the moments the darkness takes over and dials up their emotions and reactions to 100—so well acted. I wanna analyze this in more detail at some point. (For now though, I'm glad that I'm through with those episodes because those scenes were very painful!)

Rumple: Right off the bat I think this could be controversial, but Villain/Jester feels so much more true to his character than if I’d tried to stick Magician somewhere in there. He’s SILLY

Regina: Unfortunately there’s no Horse Girl type so we’re going basic for her. I actually changed my mind from when I posted (the crusty versions of) these on bluesky, I think Witch/Queen fits her vibe more than Villain/Queen.

Belle: Just Hero/Princess does her such a disservice imo but I couldn’t just leave her out ☹️ if there was like a “Scholar” type or smth she’d be Hero/Scholar

Snow: Self explanatory but I just want to say that I stan her bad S1 Enchanted Forest wig 🤍

Red: Also self explanatory and I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LIKED HER WHERE TF WAS SHE IN LATER SEASONS

Emma: I debated a lot over this one but I think Hero/Divine fits best with how both the characters and the narrative treat her. Still feels a little weird to me but I’m sure she also feels weird going from “bail bondswoman Emma Swan” to “🕊️✨The Savior✨🕊️”

I finished OUaT S1 a couple days ago and actually it was a really strong season! I feel like the show really knew what it wanted to do, and the major themes—belief, parents and children and history repeating itself, moving beyond your past into a new future—were on display in most of the episodes. The ensemble cast are well-written throughout the season, and it’s nice to feel like you know that character in the background better as it goes on. And I was surprised by just how strong the acting in this show is! Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, they’re all putting their hearts and souls into these characters.

Thinking about the unhinged villains in my Once Upon A Time in Hatchetfield au

We have Evil King Solomon Lauter, hell bent on revenge, even at the cost of his daughter, granddaughter, son in law and great-grandson (sorry gang u deserve better xoxo). Winds up ruling the Underworld and coming back to seek revenge on his granddaughter. truly a nasty piece of work.

Becky Barnes, the Wicked Witch Of The West. Blown to Oz on a wind, she never fit in bc of her magic and when she found other witches, Stanley, the Wizard, pitted them all against each other and now she just wants to save the sister she managed to meet like once. She can’t drive and she becomes a hero in the end. Ily wicked witch becky ur not wicked you’re just green/ref

Ted/Rumpelstiltskin, the Dark One. A coward and spinner, all he had left was his brother. He is the king of self sabotage and ruins everything he touches. But he wants to be good and redeem himself.

Pan, the Spirit of Neverland that never let go of Pete after he left for good, seeing potential for chaos and evil rivalling the Dark One.

The League Of Evil PILFS: Wilbur Cross AKA Maleficent, cursed Lex just for ruining his party. Linda Murray, the Sea Witch (the little mermaid is just an undersea cat fight that leads to a war) and Sheila Young Née De Vil, will skin puppies alive for clothes and steal your souls to remain eternally young, except she can’t directly harm a human being so she survives off of Dalmatians (thank you sherman)

I'm having so much fun revising and refining my Kingdom Hearts/Once Upon a Time crossover. There's been a lot of ideas popping in and out of my head.

Emma constantly being confused by Heartless, Nobodies, Keyblades and all of it but just going with the flow of it. Eventually, it all gets explained to her by Riku while the group is heading to Neverland.

Lea gets his Keyblade during the Neverland arc, so when the gang returns it surprises the shit out of them. Fast forward to the Snow Queen arc when he's throwing said Keyblade at Elsa's ice wall because he's too frustrated since his flames won't melt it.

Werewolf!Isa/Saïx. That's where the scar comes from in this AU.

The thought of Cursed!Lea and Isa being dog dads to another famous pair of Disney dogs is also playing in my head.

Snow losing her status as Princess of Heart because of what happened to Cora. Unknown to them, she had passed on the Light long ago when Emma was born.

So the Dark Swan arc leads to some issues. Being the Dark One conflicts with the Light inside of Emma's pure heart. It makes her physically and mentally ill to the point that it might kill her. After finding this out, Hook decides to take on that burden from her to save her.

Princesses of Heart being able to sense Darkness. That said, they have trouble being around the Dark One because of the amount of darkness said person with the title holds. One on instance, Kairi gets physically sick. Belle seems to be an exception, but in reality she just got acclimated to it so it doesn't bother her anymore.

Once the Curse breaks, the Keyblade Wielders find themselves struggling to summon their Keyblades again. By the end of Season 2, Sora, Riku and Roxas are able to summon their Keyblades again.

The Destiny Trio each have two hands ;)

Roxas's cursed counterpart is another one of Regina's sons, leading him to be fiercely protective of Henry. (Curse or not, he still sees him as family).

The family tree of Radiant Garden's royal family is something since Kairi is its princess in this AU. Not only does that make Ansem the Wise her father (a pretty crappy one tbh), but she also gets two older brothers. Two brothers that abandoned her for ten-ish years and so much worse stuff, but at least one came back before the Curse was cast. (Ienzo. It was Ienzo--)
