{ So I was having a discussion with @flintlxck-vocxlist the other day where we were swapping details of character psychology and backstory and I gotta tell you, it’s amazing how sometimes people can point out/ bring to life details about your character that you’ve never caught yourself. 

I’ve mentioned a few times before that my Zorin’s personality is based off mainly what she remembers of her sociopath brother’s personality and beliefs; as she completely tried to erase anything that tied her to her ‘old life’ as Heidi - save for her interest in history. But my friend made an interesting statement: It seemed like ‘Zorin’ is an alter ego that Heidi made out of her memories of her past abusers.

They’re entirely right- Zorin adopted really more than just Zacharias’s sexist beliefs and sadistic attitude, there’s actually a multitude of people she’s borrowed traits from in the near century of her existence- and I don’t think I ever noticed to what extent that’s true. Her drinking problems are very similar to ones her father had, and her double-crossing nature when it comes to Millennium that’s displaying in a lot of threads right now is something her other brother, Richard, would probably have also done. She cuts off limbs, gouges out eyes and crushes bones in a manner that’s similar to some of the torture she went through as well. 

I don’t think I ever put together just how easily influenced Zorin/Heidi is as a person- not only does this really fit in well that the impressionable young Heidi was easily convinced by the Naz.i propaganda she was fed back in Germany as this girl from an abusive family who was desperate to become something more; it also explains that weird habit she has of picking up other people’s speech patterns when they’re close friends of hers.  

Is this enough to talk about to get its own headcanon post someday? I don’t know. But it certainly is interesting. }
