Summertime - A Gray Ghost Story
(Hah)
It's summer, it's hot, and Valerie hasn't seen Phantom in over 6 months. Hasn't been with anyone for longer than that... and can't decide if she should go for what she's feeling now that their truce has been standing for years... or default to ignoring it. Which is harder now. She's been starting to like the cocky little ghost boy, who's very capable of taking care of himself... the problem is just about everything else.
But this is her last summer before college ends. If there's a time to try, it's now.
Chapter 4 has been updated - more to come soon! Happy New Year!!

Suddenly struck with an idea - Ferrix crew on Ghorman from the very beginning of the season. They settle down there after fleeing from Ferrix at the end of Season 1, finding work in the countryside on spidersilk farms. Still experiencing the injustices and discrimination that undocumented workers are vulnerable to, they nevertheless become involved in local resistance efforts -maybe a rural alternative to the more urbanized Ghorman Front?- when the Empire starts flexing its grasp over the planet, recognizing it as part of the same struggle on Ferrix. Cassian visits when he can, and passes on their intel to Luthen.
As Imperial oppression ramps up, they are Luthen's immediate people on the ground and keep him up to date on what's happening. Syril arrives and is recognized by Bix, but perhaps due to infighting between their cell and the Front (a rural/urban divide?), the Front doesn't believe her when she warns them that he can't be trusted, insist that his career history means he has as much reason to dislike the ISB as they do. The stakes become even more personal as people start dying - who knows, maybe Brasso is the one killed when the inexperienced Ghor rebels accidentally fire a weapon. When Dedra finally arrives on Ghorman to oversee the final stages of the plan, Bix recognizes her and wants to go after her with a vengeance. She convinces the rebels that Dedra is the one they need to target, and when they try to get intel from Syril, his negative reaction is what causes them to finally question his trustworthiness.
All this building up to the massacre which becomes the ultimate moment in Bix' radicalization; not that she didn't know before the Empire's crimes and injustices, not that she didn't want to bring them down, but witnessing the massacre spurs her to commit mind body and soul to the Rebellion and truly sacrifice everything for the cause, including her relationship with Cassian, including potentially her own revenge on Dedra (let her still kill Gorst though because that shit ruled). Maybe she becomes an active operative for Luthen, maybe she joins the Alliance as a seasoned rebel leader and builds up resistance cells on oppressed planets across the galaxy.

genuinely admire those who were optimistic for dishonored 3 but in this videogame industry climate and [insert a 4hr video essay about arkane's recent history here], honestly, not getting dh3 is good news

I do wonder if dandadan is going to stick with this formula of introducing a new character and a new threat for each little arc or if it's going to mix things up. I've seen a few people theorize that this new girl is going to be the last one added to the 'gang' since that would put us at 9 members, the same as the amount of circles shown when "dandadan" is mentioned

the shit mgsv and to a lesser extent pw did to the implications of the first 4 games in retrospect is soooooo fucking funny to me actually. mgs2 ocelot put liquids arm on his after losing it. sillay. mgs4 ocelot was lying actually its just an advanced prosthetic. nanomachines. lame. mgsv in a world where advanced cybernetic prosthetic arms have existed since the mid 70s ocelot instead opted to pretend he took some dead british guys arm to further sell the being possessed by a ghost bit he was pushing so he could stop information control. sillay again

wanted to rant about these comments I’m seeing about the new movie Warfare, which i have not seen but has been all over tiktok bc of the usual movie promo actors do.
1.) tiktokers don’t know what propaganda is. shocking. but seriously, “even anti war movies are propaganda”? that’s not what propaganda is?? if it’s anti war, it’s ANTI WAR. if you come away from the military movie with the understanding that war is bad and the military shouldn’t be doing that bc of the movie’s messaging, the movie is anti war and is not “pro war propaganda”, you illiterate fucks. like are we really at this level of unintelligent on the left? fuck.
“portraying americans as victims” yeah, they were. THAT’S what propaganda is and what it’s for. so many americans join the military and then realize too late that it’s not what they thought, they don’t actually believe in what they’re doing, and end up paying the ultimate price for it because of actual propaganda. you not falling for it does not make you intellectually superior to those that did, nor does it make you morally superior. have whatever fucking opinion on the us military itself that you want, that doesn’t change the reality for individual soldiers.
I’ve spent my entire life around service members, and while a lot of them remained conservative they also became insanely critical of the government’s military actions after seeing it firsthand during deployment. have you never heard a vietnam veteran speak on their opinions after getting home? SO many vets who served in Iraq/Afghanistan are against that war, against the government for going in, and advocate against it happening again. to write off military members as “The Military” is fucking ridiculous. “you had to see it for yourself to believe it??” yeah no shit, it’s almost like that’s what happens when you’re spoon fed pro military, pro america propaganda your entire life. looking at the shit doesn’t always tell you what it smells like until you actually step on it. that’s life.
we can have actual conversations about this topic and I like hearing different perspectives on it, but I’m so tired of the ignorant internet leftist that screeches nonstop just like “WAR 🫵🏻 WAR 🫵🏻 WAR 🫵🏻 WAR 🫵🏻” because we get it. we know. it’s like those people that don’t understand Huckleberry Finn and want it banned for ‘progressive’ reasons. congrats, you’re part of the “doomed to repeat it” crowd. did you get your cookie?

Zombieland Saga is like 'Watch this ragtag zombie idol group gain popularity in Saga (WHICH IS AMAZING OMG PLEASE VISIT SAGA) and get yelled at by their eccentric producer (in the best prefecture in Japan); it's funny and their limbs pop out a lot!' and the next thing you know, you've just watched one of history's best pieces of media on the theme of resilience.

I’m finding that the laziest moments of Doctor Who’s writing are the ‘retroactive twists’ - when the show runner reveals something happened way back over there, in the past, before they were even running the show. And we swear it happened, way over there, far back, and you didn’t see it because of reasons but it’s definitely been happening! And it totally makes sense and I absolutely didn’t just pull it out my ass to justify my paper thin plotline! All this kind of writing does is make me miss self contained season length plots. We’ve had people complaining that Moffat was guilty of the “this thing is big and scary and it’s going to happen, oh god it’s showing up, we’re going to discover what it truly is….. next season!!!!!!” plotline (and yes. he was. twelve is my fav doctor but yeah Moffat loved a mysterious horse and a big stick) but now suddenly when RTD gets out his own mysterious horse and a big stick, it’s got to be genius! everything is eventually going to make sense! and we’re absolutely not being had by a man who used to be able to write this show and is now a hack!
#FUCK OFF RUSSELL#write a good show or go home christ alive#it’s just nostalgia glasses. we could get an episode where all 10 does is sit in a daybed and list the symptoms of shingles#and a lot of people on this website would be falling over themselves to try say that yeah it’s not good! it’s not well written! but it’s fun#and obviously that’s all doctor who needs to be. fun! not good or interesting or well written or good scifi but fun. just mediocre mush fun.#im sorry that you love dave 10nant so much (name censor bc tbf this ain’t his fault he’s just here)#that you cannot handle admitting that RTD is bad at his job now or that bringing 10 back as 14 was a shit idea#and that plotline was boring and kinda dumb#but it’s true. it’s gone downhill. RTD does not know what this show is anymore#and I frankly think he’s gone from a fanboy being able to write his dw dreams and make them episodes#from a man who views this show as his little pet project that sprung him into success#the best episodes are written by people who love this show. adore it. think of it as something big and grand#and are so thrilled that they get to add part of themselves to it with their stories and words#it’s why he used to be good. and now he doesn’t really care anymore and it shows.#it’s why my favourite doctor is my favourite doctor (and probably why people adore 9 + 10)#because you can feel the love exuding from every performance. it’s a childhood dream. there’s not time to waste a second of it.#sorry but this season was bad and the overarching story was bad#and the Christmas special is going to be bad. because it hinges on the idea we’re going to ‘find out more next time!’#shut up and tell me now. or at least in the season. ‘ooh ruby’s snow power will be explained next season’ NO! EXPLAIN IT NOW#doctor who#dw#dw negativity#rtd2 era#rtd2#rtd

adventure time movie can be promising depending on premise but am i the only one kind of iffy on a prequel series of which the synopsis atm is just “finn and jake fight monsters” especially since we’re already getting a s2 of the OTHER spinoff who’s main plot was already hastily wrapped up in the really short first season

The Iron Wizard
I was just thinking. You know how the narrative diverted us from Ironwood's more negative traits by constantly using Jacques Schnee as a foil? That we were so busy cheering to see the weaselly rich jerk getting shot down that we didn't pay much attention to the smug, bullying dictator in the making?
I can't help but wonder if we're not making the same mistake with Oz...
