It’s actually so crazy how you read book 1 of great cities and it’s like oh manny views love as ownership and wants to serve Neek bc of supernatural city magic reasons but then in book 2 you meet his mother (who btw explicitly and textually resembles all his past lovers) and she speaks about him using object metaphors and talks about using manny as a tool for the family business basically since birth and it’s like ohhh ok. He’s just like that. Because he’s sick in the head.
#sometimes I feel bad for not talking abt the other characters as much but tbh they just don’t have interesting enough extreme psychological#defects except for Neek. and Brooklyn maybe.#aislyn also I guess but she’s kind of passive so not as much fun to rotate in my mind#outside of the Neek/manny couple Brooklyn is prob the most interesting to me personally#warlock wartalks#I think bronca and padmini are interesting in concept more than execution I just don’t feel like they have as much inner stuff going on
