⚡️ ZAP!!! ⚡️

Today's my birthday, which means I get to be self-indulgent and post art of my favorite fictional little man! \o/ And I do mean self-indulgent - this one was such a delight to make every step of the way. I'm always excited when I get commissioned to make papercraft art of Jiang Cheng, and even more excited when I get to craft him some beautiful robes, show off his Zidian skills, and spatter him with a little blood! I was especially happy with the paper for Zidian - it's holographic irl, and reflects all sorts of vibrant blues and coppery pinks when tilted. It really looks like lightning flashing as JC strikes!

huge project from 2022ish that took over a year to finish!

I was honestly expecting The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe to stay in development hell forever but when it came out I fell in love instantly. the original game was one of the first video games I'd ever heard of/watched a gameplay of online so it felt so so awesome to witness the release of its follow-up and experience it as a player this time!

had to make something to pour out my love for this game and I decided on depicting some of my favorite moments in 3D! never made something like this before so I severely underestimated how long it would take, haha (all of the layers in this were cut out by hand with an x-acto knife).

Papercraft Reigen! I've had that gray paper for a while, and I really like it, but unfortunately hadn't found an opportunity to really showcase it. This piece seemed like the perfect chance to do so! Doesn't Reigen look stylish doing his beautifully-patterned spin!

In an effort to gather works of beauty for the Tabernacle, the artisans, such as Bezalel, that G-d had endowed with “divine spirit of skill, ability, and knowledge of craft” were summoned to contribute their crafts in the presence of the Lord, as Moses had commanded.

This mural papercut was made for the former Fiber Art Center in Amherst, MA as a way to honor all manner of crafts. x

Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity

Measurements: 20″ diameter papercutting

Medium description: single unbroken sheet of cut acid-free paper

This papercutting is my depiction of the largest planet in our solar system, using music from Gustav Holst’s Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, part of his orchestral Planets suite (transcribed for and frequently played by wind bands). Holst’s stately Thaxted hymn runs across the center bands of the planet, surrounded by other more exuberant melodies and motifs to the north and south. At the poles are frenzied polyrhythmic layered ostinato which open and close the piece.
