(almost) fully independent at clicky and zoomy stuff

this morning i received training to use an electron microscope independently! i'm now allowed to open and close a vacuum chamber on my own and play the video game of aligning everything to make the focus better! it's honestly mostly just clicking buttons in a software and carefully sliding a door open and close lol

in the afternoon after installing all the equipment i'll need in the vacuum chamber i was allowed to operate the microscope on my own and managed to measure two samples. the other seven i'll hopefully manage in the next two days :)

You could read as many metaphors as you like into how this matches the general Watanuki narrative here - Watanuki mirrored against a distorted image of himself. Is that his past self? Or Lava Lamp? Or the hole in the universe he's causing? His grief? The general weight of his existence? The influence he has on other people's lives? They all work well, especially with one Mokona being black and one being white.

And that’s such a cute way to round it off! Watanuki hears Lava Lamp’s voice echo through the universe, making him promise not to vanish. And this time Watanuki can accept it honestly, because he’s already decided to do the same - for the people around him and for Lava Lamp.

also, the timelines man. they're fucking up the timelines. I have to rethink how this ties to S1/S2 because way too many details don't line up. but I'm gonna guess now that we're not in S1/S2 timeline anymore, actually. we're in the timeline that was created after lu guang's S2 dive in the finale.

so is yingdu actually post-S1/S2? I'll try to logic this out in the weekend probably

I will say that I am very intrigued by wang qing's role in all of this and I'm glad she exists. link click doesn't always have a good track record with female characters but when they don't kill them off they are intriguing in their own right (qiao ling, wang qing, and even xu shanshan I really enjoyed. noodle soup ladies and anime con girl as well).

ive been replaying kh1 (going thru the whole series on steam since i never got the chance to play all the games) and i was struck by something a bit odd. i have been dyinggg to talk about it

it's about kairi and her past.

i don't think she's a replica or construct necessarily

but in kh2 there's a parallel drawn between her and sally in halloween town; and the same i think could be true in kh1.

sally is a Frankenstein monster/doll made by the doctor. the entire plot of Halloween town centers around the need for the dr to make a "heart" which requires memories from Sally (the scene of her picking the forget me nots looks a lot like kairi holding a flower for aqua too)

sora takes interest in the project to restore a heart to the heartless too because of his desire to restore Kairi's heart.

i havent really come up with a coherent thought about what this means.

but given that we know kairi was experimented on in a way that involved her heart, it just seems suspicious that this parallel was made twice to her and a doll that was stitched together and animated by a mad scientist.

shes also compared to chirithy in kh3, which from my understanding were created by MoM for keyblade weilders; and to Pooh, who is a toy/story book character that came to life

given too that Kairi already has a weird thing going on with her heart, it just seems possible that theres something..more to it that i have yet to piece together. and its driving me crazy

NO, WAIT… ANON YOU’RE COOKING. Idk what it all means either, but those parallels are so good and so true. Cause there definitely is something artificial about Kairi’s heart, even if just partially. It was experimented on, like you said, and it looks completely different than the organic hearts we see, and I suspect that’s why we’ve never seen Kairi’s heart station. Because it’s (at least partially) artificial. It would look totally different than all the other heart stations and would probably give away what’s going on.

i saw a commercial for some random hallmark movie the other day and since then i've been batting around an idea for a fic. it could frankly apply to any of my ships but the one I was having the most fun with was grimmichi (if you see a similar post for another ship later it's because i like this idea too much to limit it to one fandom, shhhh). so, set up: human!grimmjow has exactly one guilty pleasure -- this old-as-balls manga series that focuses on shinigami striving to bring lost souls to peace. it didn't sell well, was never adapted into an anime or a live action series, it didn't even finish properly, just got axed one day with a messy, rushed ending that left all thirteen of its avid readers unsatisfied. so why does grimmjow like it?

the protagonist is hot as fuck and swings around an oversized sword, cleaving bad guys in two with that permanent scowl on his face. grimmjow has thoughts about the guy, okay, daydreams, wet dreams, what the fuck ever. he's hot, and grimmjow found the series randomly when he was going through a dry patch in terms of relationships.

it's been a few years since he got into it, and he knows it's rare to ever see it mentioned online or at cons, let alone to find fanart or -- god forbid -- cosplayers. which is why he's so surprised to see the orange-haired guy in the black robes wandering the seedy streets grimmjow generally spends his time at. especially because this cosplayer is on some god-tier shit, he couldn't look more like kurosaki if he'd gotten plastic surgery to look the part.

and, look, nerdy hobby aside, grimmjow's never one to pass up the chance to score with someone who ticks all his fucking boxes and then some, so he goes to hit him up.

only for the cosplayer to call him by name before grimmjow even gets to open his mouth. the fuck is with that?
