Our Modest Abode

Wednesday 12th February 2025 – On Board Seven Seas Voyager.

I know you are all itching to know, so….

Our accommodation for this voyage is an A-grade Penthouse but it is in fact a mid-range suite on this all-suite ship. At 300 sq ft plus balcony, it’s almost twice the size of an average cruise ship cabin and while on this ship there are two grades lower (and smaller) than ours, there are, believe it or not, 4 grades of suite higher!

However, our ‘Penthouse’ is quite comfortable, with separate sleeping and sitting areas, as well as a large walk-in wardrobe.

The marble bathroom is spacious too, with a full size bath and separate shower. There’s also plenty of shelf and under-sink storage space.

The TV, however is a bit of a disappointment, (these days you expect something a bit bigger in a suite like this) although I was pleased we were able to trade the standard coffee maker for an electric kettle – many ships won’t do this on the grounds of ‘health & safety’. Mind you, the kettle they gave us is metal and the first time we used it, Andrew scalded his hand on it, so…..’nuff said!

Plugs are an issue too, in that there are very few and there are no USB sockets, as this ship is 22 years old. Indeed, although generally well maintained, there are signs of wear and tear.

But the big let-down for us is the balcony, which at about 50 sqft is only the same as a standard cruise ship balcony and, as my followers will know, we’ve become rather fond of somewhat more generous private outdoor space with our choices of suites in recent years. But to give you an idea, on this ship the next suite grade up, a Seven Seas Suite, has a wrap-around balcony of 215 sqft but to get that for this cruise would have cost another £5,000 (no comments, please!)

Nevertheless, ours is good enough and, equipped with rattan chairs and soft cushions, at least that’s a step up on the bog-standard plastic chairs!

Left Brain: I ship Kacchako because I think there's the possibility for tons of parallels and nuance in their relationship, both as individuals and as foils to Midoriya, and strong themes of self-confidence and self-improvement deeply connected to both of their characters could push them both to even higher levels of awesomeness while still retaining the core of what makes them them, and also-

Right Brain: Honestly, I ship Kacchako because Uraraka would be able to throw Bakugo very very very far, and I think both of them would be into that.

Stanford quickly moves away from the wormhole a chain connected to his ankle pulling taunt as he holds up a gun pointing it at Alex. His grip on the weapon falters once he recognizes who it is. "Alex?" Stanford relaxes and slides the gun back into the holster. Crouching down next to Alex, he starts poking him. "Hey? Kiddo, don't just drop out of nowhere and die on me. What happened? Are you injured?"

Gonna hide this due to varying levels of spoilers! Particularly for Chapter 2’s trial and Day 20!

The sounds of confusion when Tamba did the whole “it was poison” bit the first time around are just gold. It’s kinda nice to hear Okazaki so flustered.

“Can I use excessive force?” Why Okazaki. Why do you want to use excessive force.

“They’re erasers, yeah.” There’s a reason that’s my banner. She eats five of them. Why are you like this.

“She’s in your backpack, right? Right?” is definitely up there because of the way she says the second “right” it’s so intimidating for some reason.

“I’ve been reading up on how to therapize much more efficiently.” Purely for the word “therapize.”

The way she says “Hi :)” to the research team. Queen shit.

Literally any time where Okazaki enables Watari. Especially in [Hall Patrol].

“Hey Wada? You’re a bit of a loudmouth, aren’t you?”

“Wada, if you tell a single person what happened in here, I’ll come back. Over, and over, and over. Do you understand that? Goodbye. Hopefully I can leave you alone from this point on.” Because [Good Child] is genuinely one of Okazaki’s best episodes. I would write down everything Okazaki says in that episode between these two lines if I could. Maybe I should memorize it as a monologue. Might be fun to recreate.

‘I love you,’ Suguru’s soul says for Satoru. It’s true. They both know it is. Suguru is constantly looking out for Satoru, steering him down the right path, making sure that he comes back down to Earth before he can fly too close to the Sun and get burned.

‘I love you more,’ Satoru’s soul replies. Suguru feels a weight in his chest because he knows it’s true. They both know it is. He takes his word as law because he trusts his decisions more than anything. Even after it all goes to hell, Satoru doesn’t kill him like he should. Satoru is the only person on this planet that could possibly bare the curse that is Suguru’s existence, after all of the shit he puts him through, he leaves him, he forces him into an even worse place with the higher ups since he refuses to kill him, he kills people for his cause and because Satoru is the only one who can stop him and doesn’t, the blood is partially on Satoru’s hands. If Suguru just died, none of those people he killed after taking over the cult would be dead.

Suguru feels guilty. He wages war in front of the Jujutsu society. He tells Satoru where he’s going next. An opportunity. Kill me now and stop the war. Satoru doesn’t. He loves Suguru. He can’t kill him.

Suguru hurts Satoru’s students but he loves him enough not to kill them. Still, they’re close to death. He doesn’t love Satoru enough not to lay a hand on them, not like Satoru, who lets his entire family escape. Suguru ends up mortally wounded by Satoru’s student and Satoru only kills him to put him out of his misery. He would have let him walk if he could have.

Satoru loves Suguru after he kills him. He can’t part with his body. Something stops him. He loves Suguru too much. But somehow, it still isn’t enough.

There’s just something bitter and beautiful about the notion of Satoru unconsciously saying “I know you don’t love me as much as I love you but that’s okay because I love you anyway and I’ll love you without asking for anything in return, even if you make a mess out of my life and turn it into hell on Earth,” to Suguru. And then living by it.
