I'm not a zombie film aficionado, but I'm fairly certain Resident Evil (2002) popularized the concept of zombies being the result of an infection. My understanding is that zombie myths as we know them originated in Voodoo and the fear that Black bodies could be subjected to forced labor even after death. Obviously, the genre has evolved for a whiter audience. I think zombie stories now play on the fear of a persistence predator and the desire to prove oneself in a survival situation. I also think, for some, zombies offer a fantasy where one can vicariously kill human beings without any conflict of conscience. My enjoyment of this movie is entirely shallow. It's stylish. I love the music. It's a great premise for the creation of all sorts of monsters. It blends well with the creature feature genre. It’s fun.

Y'know, I really do think just about every mention of God in this show is something of a double-edged sword and ought to be interrogated as such.

I've written before about "More than God loves them.", for example.

How, at a surface level, we might take it to mean "Gee Captain, you sure do love your men a lot!" But it carries less weight within a story where we're shown that God doesn't appear to love them all that much and may even be actively against them.

To love your men more than God loves them just doesn't mean as much when God doesn't love them in the first place.

And now I'm thinking we ought to interrogate "And remember - God lies in all realms!" in a similar way.

It's meant to be a comfort - "Don't be afraid, Mr Collins, God will be with you even as you venture into a brand-new, dangerous place!". But, again, we're presented with with very little evidence that God loves or cares about or offers any protection to them so perhaps the question ought to be asked - Why would you even want a god like that to be with you in all realms?

How can it really be a good thing to have God with you when he's inflicting such pain on you? And what means of relief have you when he's always there, with you in all realms, inescapable?

I've been seeing a post on my dash where some USAmerican tumblrina feels sorry for the rest of the world because we don't have Halloween, and that we should steal it for ourselves, too.

I just... uuuugggghhh. Dear worried USAmerican tumblrina: please do not feel sorry for us, at least not about that particular issue.

Like. As far as Finland goes (but I'm 100% certain this applies to a bunch of other countries all over the globe too), our supermarkets and our shopping centres are trying their absolute hardest to shove Halloween down our throats. They really, really try. From Halloween themed doughnuts to Halloween balls and Halloween garlands (for our Halloween trees?? I really have no idea), it's all over the place. It may not actually be celebrated to the extent it is in the US, but it certainly cannot be escaped, and as long as there's plastic crap to sell, it's not going away.

If I could, I'd shove all that nonsense into a cargo container and return it to where it came from. But I can't! You'll catch me dead before you'll catch me buying a Halloween themed Runeberg torte, though.

one of those fun little traits that endlessly humor me about writing miranda but that i dont really get to talk about is that shes a reverse monsterfucker. and shes REALLY obvious about it once you notice it.

like shes out here just talking like all the monsterfuckers do but its specifically about humans. their hands are so soft, so small, so dexterious and light... their skin is so soft, so smooth. they are covered in fuzz and hair and have such an excellent mane right up on top of their heads that makes them look so proud and noble. they curve so excellently, all supple and with so many excellent handholds to keep them close. they are even self-heated! they feel so warm all of the time! perfect for cuddles, perfect for holding close, they let you know all of their little parting touches and make it so obvious every time they do touch you!!

honestly, to miranda humans are like... a luxury good. like thats the association in her mind, between the feeling of our hair and skin, and the way that it is skin and presses inwards to provide cushioning, and are warmed, and fit perfectly against her. shes like someone getting flustered for a werepanther. its really very cute.

It took me like seven episodes to see and integrate the bi Buck vision, but it's taken three entire seasons for me to warm to Buddie. This whole time I've wondered what was doing it for people, besides liking when hotties fuck (fair). I was like half of this ship is my close personal friend and half of this ship is making me mad at my dad somehow. But, "I bequeathed you my only begotten son in the event of my death and thinking about making my long-term girlfriend his stepmom is giving me a panic attack so bad I ended up in the ER," has really done a lot of work for me. Like, okay, gayboy, I see you, third eye is now engaged.
