although we do encourage you to join our discord server but this is not a necessity for you to join!

The first rule is that you must have an ao3 account and tumblr, all the work added will be published to our ao3 collection and you will share a snippet to tumblr with the link so that we can add it to our master list after!

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but I’m rewatching Teen Wolf as an adult and:

-Derek isn’t an interesting or even good character til like season 3

-Isaac and Allison shouldn’t have been a thing (but could’ve been something w Scott 👀)

-Boyd and Erica should’ve had more time and been flushed out more

-Kora felt very thrown-in and wasn’t given any respect frfr

-Isaac my Beloved sassy man you are missed every scene you’re not present

Best Teen Wolf Ship: TOP 10

Hey all! To round out the best teen wolf ship tournament, I'm going to give the rankings of how every ship placed of the 128 ships included in this competition. How I'm ranking them is going by the rounds. So the ships that didn't make it past the first round are the lowest, then second, third round etc - within each round, they're ranked by how many or few votes they got.

So if a ship made it past the first round, I'll put their total votes just to see how many they got throughout the whole competition, and just for those who might be curious - but total votes don't have any bearing on their placements. So a ship might have gotten a lot one round and very few the next round, but have more total votes than the ship ranked above them because that ship got more votes the second round.

I know this ranking isn't full proof, but I'm just doing this for fun, so again let's not take it too seriously. This way just made the most sense for how each ship should be ranked. Also I will highlight a ship's vote count red to indicate that it was eliminated that round.

"This is the first issue of Aspen, the Magazine in a Box. In calling it a 'magazine,' we are harking back to the original meaning of the word as 'a storehouse, a cache, a ship laden with stores.' That's what we want each issue to be.

Since it comes in a box, our magazine need not be restricted to a bunch of pages stapled together. We can do what editors have wanted to do since Benjamin gave his name to Franklin Gothic -- we can put in all sorts of objects and things to illustrate our articles. And each article can be designed as a separate booklet with the size, format and paper dictated by the article itself.

For this first issue, we've started out with a rather dignified format, but who knows what the next issue will be! Perhaps the booklets will be done in the manner of illuminated manuscripts or Japanese scrolls. Perhaps each will be a different size and color. Perhaps they'll include blueprints, a bit of rock, wildflower seeds, tea samples, an opera libretti, old newspapers, jigsaw puzzles. In short, 'Aspen' is the first three-dimensional magazine."

Idade que chegou ao Acampamento: 01 de fevereiro de 2014, eu tinha 15 anos.

Quem te trouxe até aqui? Minha mãe sempre soube que eu era um semideus, e sabia do acampamento. Quando ficou impossível fugir dos monstros, ela me contou a verdade, fez um mapa e me levou até onde foi possível. Uma quimera nos seguiu e a matou, e eu percorri o restante do caminho com o Otto, meu gato.

Seu parente divino te reclamou de imediato ou você ficou um pouco no chalé de Hermes sem saber a quem pertencia? Fiquei 1 ano no chalé de Hermes, até meu pai decidir me reclamar. Até hoje não sei o motivo para ele decidir fazer isso, nem o motivo para ter demorado tanto. Quando minha mãe me contou a verdade, disse que suspeitava que meu pai era Dionísio, mas só tive certeza quando ele me reclamou.

Após descobrir sobre o Acampamento, ainda voltou para o mundo dos mortais ou ficou apenas entre os semideuses? Se você ficou no Acampamento, sente falta de sua vida anterior? E se a resposta for que saiu algumas vezes, como você agia entre os mortais? Voltei para passear com meu irmão Brooklyn, e com alguns amigos, mas nunca morei fora daqui depois que cheguei. Já passei uns dias fora, em viagens, mas nunca muito tempo e nunca de maneira fixa. E eu agia... normalmente. Quer dizer, quase isso. No início, eu ficava atento se visse algum monstro, mas depois aprendi a relaxar mais e curtir a vida lá fora.

Se você pudesse possuir um item mágico do mundo mitológico, qual escolheria e por quê? As asas de Ícaro, talvez? Se bem que teria que voar baixo para não repetir a história dele, então não sei se teria tanta graça. Já sei! O anel de Giges. Deve ser legal ficar invisível, descobrir umas coisas, pregar umas peças.

Existe alguma profecia ou visão do futuro que o assombra ou guia suas escolhas? Nenhuma me vem à mente agora.

𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐀 𝟑: 𝐏𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐒

Fale um pouco sobre seus poderes: Meu poder é comunicação com felinos. Consigo entender e me comunicar com gatos, por exemplo. São os que mais falei na minha vida, aliás. Poderia me ajudar a obter informações úteis, mas nunca usei meu poder dessa forma. Uso mais para conversar, acalmar ou influenciar os gatinhos que encontramos perdidos pela praia aqui do acampamento. Já conversei com um leão num zoológico quando criança. Ah, já usei em uma missão para encontrar pistas. É uma conexão especial que eu tenho com esses animais.

Quais suas habilidades e como elas te ajudam no dia a dia? Eu tenho duas habilidades principais: velocidade sobre-humana e um fator de cura acima do normal. A velocidade me ajuda a me mover rapidamente, é claro, o que é ótimo tanto para batalhas quanto para tarefas diárias que exigem agilidade. Já o fator de cura significa que eu me recupero de ferimentos e fadiga mais rápido do que a maioria das pessoas, o que é uma enorme vantagem, considerando que eu não tenho muita habilidade de luta ou horas de treino.

Você lembra qual foi o primeiro momento em que usou seus poderes? Sim! Eu tinha oito anos e estava no zoológico com minha mãe, então ouvi uma voz grossa e imponente pedindo socorro. Olhei para os lados, ninguém pareceu ouvir. Achei que estivesse ficando louco, mas aí eu vi que a voz vinha... de um leão! Eu perguntei se ele estava pedindo socorro, ele se surpreendeu porque eu o entendia, e eu fiquei mais chocado ainda. Fiquei de olhos arregalados e queixo caído, escutando ele me contar como era mau tratado naquele zoológico e que queria fugir dali com sua família. Eu fiquei emocionado e... abri a jaula dele. Fiz o leão prometer que não machucaria ninguém, é claro, mas ele cumpriu. Só tentou ferir quem tentou machucá-lo primeiro. Foi uma confusão, e eu voltei para casa chorando quando vi que atiraram um dardo para adormecer o leão, e o prenderam novamente.

Qual a parte negativa de seu poder? A parte negativa da comunicação com felinos é que, às vezes, é difícil interpretar as intenções e sentimentos deles, que podem ser imprevisíveis e enigmáticos. Além disso, eu não consigo controlá-los para que façam o que eu queira, nem invocá-los para me ajudar numa briga. Basicamente eles são amigos com quem posso conversar. É legal, mas não é útil em batalhas.

E qual a parte positiva? A parte positiva é justamente essa conexão que tenho com eles. Ter mais amigos para conversar, ajudar os gatinhos que já encontrei e até proporcionar algum conforto quando eles precisam.

Você tem uma arma preferida? Se sim, qual? Seria a espada. Não é exatamente arma preferida, é a única que eu sei minimamente manusear.

Acredito que tenha uma arma pessoal, como a conseguiu? Tenho a Shadowblade, uma espada feita com ferro estígio. Ela diminui para o formato de um pingente, que fica numa pulseira que ando quase sempre comigo. É só apertar no gatilho e a espada ganha o tamanho normal. Fica presa no meu pulso, como uma forma de não escapar da minha mão durante uma batalha. Meu pai quem me deu.

Qual arma você não consegue dominar de jeito algum e qual sua maior dificuldade no manuseio desta? Várias? É sério, tem várias que eu não sei nem como segurar direito. Mas acho que arco e flecha? Minha mira é péssima.

Qual foi a primeira que saiu? Fomos resgatar um colar de Dionísio que era capaz de se comunicar com felinos. Foi tranquila e quem estava com o colar era um mortal, então não foi exatamente um desafio.

Qual a missão mais difícil? Uma missão para resgatar um... sátiro. Geralmente, eles nos resgatam, mas estava causando um caos no mundo mortal depois de ter sido atacado por alguém com poderes de indução à loucura. Ele ficou pirado e começou a atacar mortais. Foi difícil contê-lo e levá-lo ao acampamento, mas depois que recobrou a consciência, ele não se lembrava de quem fez aquilo com ele. Até hoje não sabemos.

Qual a missão mais fácil? Quando resgatamos um pégaso mamãe e seu filhote que haviam sido roubados do acampamento. Fácil é uma palavra forte, mas foi tranquilo, comparado a outras situações que já ouvi meus amigos contarem.

Em alguma você sentiu que não conseguiria escapar, mas por sorte o fez? Eu só fui em três missões, as que mencionei agora. A do sátiro foi bem difícil, mas não pareceu descontrolada em momento algum. Eu que sou muito medroso e em todas as vezes achei que não voltaria com vida.

Já teve que enfrentar a ira de algum deus? Se sim, teve consequências? Não, ainda bem.

Qual você desgosta mais? Não é desgosto, é... medo. Deimos e Fobos. Corro deles e de suas crias.

Se pudesse ser filhe de outro deus, qual seria? Afrodite ou Hermes.

Já teve contato com algum deus? Se sim, qual? Como foi? Se não, quem você desejaria conhecer? Só com meu pai, no acampamento. E, uma vez, Afrodite respondeu uma mensagem de Íris minha. Ela não disse nada, só deixou cheiro de flores no ar, mas foi lindo. E, se eu pudesse vê-la de novo, seria incrível. Também gostaria de conhecer Hermes ou Poseidon.

Dos monstros que você ainda não enfrentou, qual você acha que seria o mais difícil e que teria mais receio de lidar? Todos seriam difíceis para mim, já disse. Mas acredito que a Quimera seria mais porque tenho trauma e talvez ficasse paralisado se visse uma novamente.

Estaria disposto a liderar uma missão suicida com duas outras pessoas, sabendo que nenhum dos três retornaria com vida mas que essa missão salvaria todos os outros semideuses do acampamento? Nunca! Morro de medo de morrer, não gosto nem de sair em missão. Admiro quem tem essa coragem, mas prefiro me esconder na minha covardia, mas continuar vivo.

Que sacrifícios faria pelo bem maior? Eu sacrificaria uma lembrança, um objeto importante, até me manteria longe das pessoas que amo se isso fosse o melhor para todos. Só não quero morrer, me machucar nem ferir ou perder quem eu amo. Mas eu me arriscaria, sim, numa luta para salvar ou resgatar alguém.

Danir "the light on the surface of the water" Cove

excerpts from Petra Shannon's novella Blossoming Blue...

The sky, the sky, the sky. As big and expansive as the ocean itself. Sometimes, Danir tilts his head back and looks up at it to remember what it felt like to be in the water, to be free...

When Danir first leaves the water, the droplets roll down his chest, catching in the rough scales on his chest. They glitter futile and violent violet until he is shoved into a cage. The sun is gone and so is the gleam of his scales. His legs tremble as he rises to unfamiliar feet. His hands reach through the bars.

He doesn't understand this small space. It is a cave, like his mother always warned him. Dark and suffocating.

Peter sees the monster fall away from Danir. There is blood in his teeth but otherwise he looks just like any boy. Lost and scared.

When Peter reaches for him, he draws away.

Danir tastes freedom for the first time since being taken from the sea. But it is not the taste of salt on his lips. It is the touch of another's lips. Warm and good.

Nothing could replace the warmth of summer currents, but for just a moment, Danir lets himself be swept away.

"You cannot come with me to the water, you will drown."

"And you cannot stay here on land," Peter said, solemn. His cheek rests on Danir's sun-warmed shoulder. He feels the way that Danir sighs.

"No, I will drown."

It ends with a parting.

Peter holds the pearl, still cool from the water, clutched in his hand. Along the horizon line, he watches a shape cut through the water. Dark skin a shadow, purple tail flashing in and out of his vision. There is one final moment and he will wonder his whole life if he only imagined the hesitation as Danir dives down...

What the fuck is this, Tina? You might be asking! Well: I was thinking about who I wanted to do for my queer awakening task. And I was bouncing around different ideas, but I kept circling back to Gem. Many of my characters have either kind of always known they were queer or came to it through someone they met who opened up that world to them.

But Gem? Gem spent most of his childhood in a tumultuous situation where he was just trying to survive. And then, his first few years with the Moreys was learning how to be part of a family and have people care about him. By the time he went to prison, he was just seventeen (verging on eighteen, which is why he was tried and sentenced as an adult and sent to Abracadabra's higher security prison block, due to his crime being a "violent crime.")

He hadn't really had time to explore his sexuality much. And, growing up primarily (before the Moreys), it had been a mostly conservative household. It never really crossed his mind. He only managed a few kisses and everything anyway before he went to prison, so there really wasn't much time to experiment.

However, he spent most of his intensely formative years in prison, surrounded by other men. And, of course, he found some of them attractive, but it is is easy to kind of brush that off when you're only really interacting with other men. Besides, you're in prison, so romance or sex isn't really your top priority.

What Gem did have, though, was books.

And Gem read through the entire library at Abracadabra. There weren't a lot of books featuring queer characters. Most of the books were older and not really geared towards progressive reading. But, one of the last books in the library that Gem came across was Blossoming Blue. This slender little novella.

In it, a merman gets captured and brought to a lab to have experiments run on him. During his time in captivity he befriends one of the young scientists. They end up falling in love and the scientist helps free him, only for Dinar to choose the sea over his lover. It is a very poignant little story and, for obvious reasons, has parallels to Gem's own life.

But it was also one of his first real experiences with queer love. Of course, in Swynlake there are lots of queer people, but he didn't have a lot of friends. And he has queer brothers, but none of them had long term partners--so he wasn't like intimately acquainted with it in any way.

It was his first time realizing that, in any capacity, he yearned for that kind of tender romance. He'd read romances before, but that was the first time he really felt like he saw himself reflected in the narrative in a way that let him enjoy the story and fall in love with the characters properly.

So, yeah. <3 I know this is only sort of how the task was supposed to go, considering I made this book up. BUT -- I didn't want to try to find a published book that fit the narrative I was going for.

Review: Dead Simple - Peter James (Roy Grace, 1)

Mini-Review: I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. I didn't hate it, but the writing felt… all over the place in some ways. Or maybe it was just me, but there were a lot of plot twists that were explained in a passing sentence. Other than that and some of the more scandalous descriptions of sex or an autopsy, I did enjoy this. Numerous plot twists had me going: EXCUSE ME?!?!!?

Hmmm, actually there may be something to this. Because like I said, I tend to get drawn to pieces of media based on interest in what others have said about particular characters on their own, outside of whatever ship they're in....but I AM more particular about the ships of any other characters I end up investing in once I start engaging with that media....like, the characters I was introduced to as part of specific ships or having specific dynamics with one other character in particular, after I'd already started investing in that source material?

Like what I mean by that is....take Teen Wolf. Even though Scott was my clear and undisputed fave, and I was there FOR him more than any other character, its not like there's not plenty of characters aside from him that I'm heavily invested in as well....and I'll absolutely dig deep and explore all kinds of different permutations and options for these other characters as well. I mean, TW followers know I may be a Scott stan first and foremost, but its not like I skimp on imagination when it comes to fleshing out side characters like Danny to a far greater depth than the show ever did, or that I haven't written tons about Kira, Mason, etc.

But those characters, I tend to have more specific ships in mind. I don't really ship Danny with anyone but Scott, but its not due to like....a lack of interest in Danny himself, or that I'm not perfectly willing to spin off a whole universe's worth of headcanons about Danny's life outside of Scott in a Beacon Bay AU where most of the werewolves are dolphin shapeshifters but Danny comes from a multi-generational family of weresharks who have a shit ton going on with Scott not a factor in that whatsoever.

So its not like I only ship Danny with Scott because I default to seeing Danny as an EXTENSION of Scott rather than a character in his own right, and I'm totally down to dig into his character as a singular individual.....BUT because my interest in Danny did INITIALIZE with his specific dynamics with Scott, a character I'd already heavily invested in.....my subsequent interest and exploration of Danny, while not DEPENDENT on Scott, is less likely to end up fully divorced FROM Scott to the extent that I'm shipping Danny with as many options as I ship Scott with?

Or even Mason....I've written a fair amount about Mason in his own right, meta and headcanons about the parallels between Mason's possession by the Beast and how it hails back to Scott's Season One struggles with Peter's attempted hijacking of his life and how Mason was done such a disservice by never being given an opportunity to have feelings, trauma, or even much of an opinion about the narrative role he ended up having in the end of Season Five and it was just like lol oh he's over it because he's too good, too pure, too Mason to have like, any kind of DEPTH to actually explore due to how that affected him haha why would he - oh wow, hey, look at that, I'm not actually over how much that pissed me off. Huh. Good to know.

AHEM. Point is! Even with Mason, as much as I could talk or spin off into a million tangents about him, I never really got into Mason/Corey in the sense that I never DISLIKED it, but I never heavily invested in it.....because I'd already been shipping and invested in the possibility of Mason/Brett ever since Mason expressed interest in him way back in S4, long before Corey existed, let alone ended up with Mason. So I'm not like UGH, Morey, UGH, but given the option, I'll pretty much always default to an AU take that pairs Brett/Mason together.

Hmm. THAT SAID....I can't help but notice that my examples here are of noncanon ships that never actually got fulfillment in canon, so were left as just tantalizing possibilities, the exact kind of thing I love to seize upon and explore precisely BECAUSE of canon's failure to explore any of the possibilities that caught my interest. Whereas like, with characters who have ships that are explored in the source material before they end up paired with other characters, as in like, they get the option of being part of multiple ships rather than just the one or unacted upon possibilities....I may not be a multi-shipper with them exactly, but I'm still more likely to ship them with different partners than just the one singular ship I'm most drawn to, so they're like....kinda in between how I approach Scott and his potential ship partners versus Mason.

So now I'm wondering how much this might link back to the intensity of focusing on one specific ship being related to whether or not that ship was actually canon (or how well or thoroughly or not that ship was explored in canon) vs that ship never actually being realized in canon, or if it was, remained largely superficial or unexplored. As in....how much of the....rigidity about two characters being in THIS ship over all others might stem from the dissatisfaction of never actually seeing the potential they might have realized in any kind of fulfilling way, and thus being more driven to explore that ship in particular in various ways in fandom.......whereas once a ship HAS been made canon and at least has some kind of exploration in the source material, its easier to acknowledge the possibilities one or both ship partners might have in others, or dive tangentially into exploring different ships instead of just the one, even if that one WAS the ship that drew you to them initially?

Hmm, The Sequel. Still musing, still percolating, but I think I'm getting closer to whatever actual point of interest got me hooked on this line of thinking today in the first place....

Its always been curious to me how little opinion I have on ships, when I invest so heavily in like, every other aspect of a character and I'm like, no, I Have OPINIONS on what is right and what is not right about this character! But then it comes to ships and its like, I LIKE ships, I have preferences for ships, but I've never really like.....reached that point where I'll fight about a ship? And this is not meant as a "Oh ho, I am so much better than people who fight about ships, I am An Intellectual" like no, not the mood here at all, this is coming from a place of "I will fight someone in a back alley for saying Dick Grayson only eats cereal, I am not better than anyone here."

Its literally just me musing on if there's anything in particular that makes that a character axis or angle that I'm generally just like 'eh, as long as its not squicking me, its not a dealbreaker even if I prefer other ships than this one,' but have an Incorrect Headcanon about a character's basic routines, behaviorisms or mindsets and I'm like loooool here's fifty ways in which you're just fucking wrong and should feel bad about it, there WILL be a quiz at the end.

Just funny, is all. I wonder how much it has to do with the angle from which I'm introduced to a character? Like I know a lot of people get introduced to various media via hearing about certain canon or fanon ships that catch their interest, so it makes sense that even after getting to know each character and having an interest in both, or more of an interest in one than the other, they'd still have a heavier investment in those characters as part of that ship rather than outside of that ship, because like, that's what drew them to it in the first place, its what engaged their initial interest and emotional investment?

Whereas I've never really been drawn to particular ships, even if I do end up enjoying them, but its like....you need to hook me on a specific character and engage my interest and emotional investment in them singularly and then from THERE I look at potential ship partners or canon ship partners, and like, I tend to like exploring options just in general so it makes sense that I'd be predisposed to multi-shipping, given that angle of approach?

Idk, idk, just musing, as I said. Anyone else have thoughts? Does this reflect your patterns at all, or do you have a mish-mash of some faves that you got invested in as a singular character versus some you initially invested in as part of a particular ship, and if so, have you ever noticed any difference in whether you're more likely to multi-ship with a character that falls under the former heading while being more of a stickler about not really shipping characters under the second heading with anyone other than each other?
