need some more information on hunter x hunter in order to write some lore accurate fanfiction + good theories? well look at that, i'm right here.

canon details about hxh that makes writing and theories IMMENSELY easier.

kurapika seems to have a soft spot for younger children, as he doesn't target any of the younger princes in the succession war (in the manga). not only that, but when he held woble (an infant) for the first time, his eyes softened.

chrollo doesn't seem to enjoy hurting women or children. the only time in the story (kurta clan excluded, we never actually see it happen + it was for a job) where chrollo harms a woman is when he steals neon's nen ability. however, he had even made sure to catch her when she fell, taking care of her at least a little bit. chrollo didn't cause any harm to gon and killua even though it could have been convenient to. plus, during his match against hisoka at heavens arena, chrollo does not control or harm any of the female spectators + the female commentator.

chrollo fools the phantom troupe a lot. in chapter 90, nobunaga states “chrollo/danchou did it again!” when phinks tells nobunaga that chrollo had fooled nobunaga. so chrollo has played trickster a few times within the troupe.

meteor city residents live in extremely small cottage-like “houses” made of wood, although much of the houses have patches. however, many people tend to place cloth over their houses, possibly to keep out rain or snow. outside of many houses in meteor city, older people sit on mats and rugs, perhaps selling something.

the most extravagant and cleanest building in meteor city is the church, which also has numerous sun symbols and signs, implying that chrollo might have gotten the sun and moon ability that he fought hisoka with from the pastor of the church (father lisores).

hisoka seems obsessive over cleanliness and always being clean. he has a total of 6 mobage cards where he is showering, and he showers a total of 4 times in the series.

chrollo is implied to have been groomed as a child by the meteor city elders. the elders imply that chrollo is the key to solving all of their problems when he is an ELEVEN YEAR OLD CHILD because of how intelligent chrollo is. phinks makes a subtle note of this when the troupe goes to meteor city to fight the chimera ants, saying that “they still don’t know what they’re doing” (about the city elders). and in a sad way, they succeeded in their grooming, because chrollo did essentially solve their child k!dnapping problem and decreased much of the crime rate in meteor city.

chrollo is the oldest of his group with sarasa, pakunoda, sheila, phinks, feitan, franklin, and shalnark (therefore debunking the “feitan is 28” myth) due to his backstory, where sheila says that “you're the oldest out of all of us, and yet everyone treats you like the ‘younger brother'”, which chrollo is visibly disappointed at.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Feitan when he’s mean but something just tells me that he’s have a soft spot for his s/o.

He tried to keep his cool, he really does..!! But he just can’t help the way your nose scrunches up and your eyes fill with tears, the way your cute pout when your upset, it’s tormenting for him to refuse. However, one flaw he has that he hates himself for, he can’t comfort you. The most he’ll do is pat your head or so but when you’re in private, he can’t help but snuggle up like a little kitten.

But you know when he’s sweetest? When you’re asleep. He can’t help but admire you, looking around swiftly before planting a kiss on your cheek, he’s embarrassed of that. He’s embarrassed how captivated he is by you. But slowly, slowly but surely, he’ll start warming up to you and become even sweeter as time goes by.

In the past, he’d easily be able to tell you to shut it or threaten you but now, he’s fallen so deep in love that he can’t help but give into every whine.

If you’re in the phantom troupe, your relationship is like this; everyone knows but he won’t admit it till you’re at a certain point in the relationship. It’s honestly so obvious, the way he picks you up when you passed out or are just too tired to, well he’s basically dragging you but being careful not to cause any injuries. If there was a lot of rocks or anything that could cause your already wounded self to get extremely hurt, he’d pick you up. He would either drag his friends or just leave them there so that was a bonus. The way his gaze becomes much softer when he sees you, it’s so obvious that he likes you. The way he even stuffs his face deeper into his bandana to cover the slight warmth around his cheeks.

He really loves you, just doesn’t know how to show it. Be careful and guide him through, he’ll be grateful. :3

Random thoughts on how I think a potential lover could change Chrollo:

🕷️I feel like Chrollo is the type of person who walks a fine line between craving connection and rejecting vulnerability. His emotional detachment doesn’t mean he’s indifferent to others. He expresses a clear sense of responsibility for the Troupe while simultaneously maintaining a certain distance. To me, this paradox reveals that he craves connection but cannot afford to be vulnerable without risking his authority and identity.

If he were fully detached, he wouldn’t care about Uvogin’s death or go as far as holding a requiem to honor him. But if he were fully vulnerable, he wouldn’t be able to maintain the ruthless control required to lead a group like the Troupe.

That said, how he would treat a potential love interest depends very much on who they are to him. For his potential s/o to move beyond mere curiosity and become someone he genuinely cherishes, they would need to be irreplaceable in his eyes—someone no one else could ever replicate or replace.

This person would have to be able to pull him away from his habitual detachment, drawing him out of his constant way of analysing the people around him. They wouldn’t just capture his attention but anchor him in the present, making him live in the moment/lose himself in the emotion he’s feeling in the moment.

But it’s very likely that the same qualities that draw him in would also shake him. Someone with the power to make him lose himself in the moment also holds the power to change his worldview. For a man who survives by maintaining intellectual and emotional control, being vulnerable a would threaten the stability he’s built around himself and the Troupe.

At first, his instinct would likely be to push him away. I don’t think this would be due to indifference but because their influence on him represents a loss of control, something he cannot afford when his leadership hinges on his ability to stay emotionally untouchable. Letting someone see or discover his unfiltered core means risking the detachment that enables him to make the kind of ruthless decisions the Troupe’s survival demands.

Though I can definitely imagine how someone who makes him feel something beyond duty and cold calculation would eventually become a pull he cannot resist, no matter how much he tries to maintain his distance. 🤭

It’s likely that this relationship would redefine his existence. For once, he would have something outside the Troupe’s mission that holds genuine value. This could manifest in subtle ways like small acts of protectiveness or moments where his calm facade cracks, or even instances where he prioritizes their safety over the Troupe’s objectives. If that person were in the troupe themself, his actions would ultimately go against his motto that nobody is more important than the whole.

The Phantom Troupe auditioning for Romeo and Juliet (chaotic headcanons)

Letting these rascals live up to their theater kids fantasies… how bad can it get? 💀

Chrollo: He wants to be Juliet AND Romeo because he believes he’s got a deep understanding of both characters on a level no one else does, and he gets cast as neither. He ends up getting Prince Escalus’ role as the director thought Chrollo had the regal and commanding look for that.

Machi: She doesn’t bother auditioning—clearly not a big fan of the play. But the casting director is very adamant about her being the perfect Tybalt.

Pakunoda: Gets cast as Lady Capulet, Juliet’s mom, after so many people insisted she was so ‘mother’. Casting director said bring me the mother in question!!!!

Feitan: He wanted Tybalt’s role so badly but got everyone thinking ‘Damn, even Tybalt isn’t that much of a demon.’ No. Surprisingly nailed the Nurse’s role??? And no one in the Troupe is letting him live that one down.

Shalnark: Everyone thought his boyish and mediator (lmao) vibes were 100% Benvolio. Surprisingly he did very well, but kept cracking up every now and then during rehearsals—to the point Machi almost stabbed him fr during the early Benvolio vs Tybalt show off. No one knows how she snuck that sword on stage. Props staff had to make sure the rest of the weapons were fake.

Phinks: Was in competition with Feitan over Tybalt’s role even though he secretly wanted to be Romeo. Almost became Tybalt if not for Machi. He gets to play Count Paris ultimately. Hated the role but eh.

Nobunaga: Lord Capulet your honor, and Shalnark couldn’t resist making comments about him looking like the perfect ‘distinguished-but-not-so-much middle aged man’ for that role. But he was one of the most convincing on stage!

Kortopi: Wanted no part in it. Absolutely none. Got eventually cast as Peter and even that was too much for him.

Shizuku: Casting director wanted her to be Juliet but she couldn’t remember any line for crying out loud. She let out a very rare laugh over reading R&J’s first ever flirting sene. Also deadpans ‘Why must I say Romeo so many times in one sentence? Was Juliet summoning a demon?’ ‘This sounds so bad. They’ve known each other for 2 hours, why is she asking him to get disowned?’ She ended up walking out of the play, and bringing confettis with her to cheer on the others during rehearsals. The Critic no one asked for (Kept pointing out their mistakes all thorough and shouting/whispering every characters’ respective lines to fumbling actors. So much for not being able to remember her parts—)

Uvogin: Got Mercutio’s role a bit too easily. Was proud of himself until he got absolutely livid after finding out he’s gotta die in the play, by Machi’s hands no less! Each time he took a bit too long to give it up, drew out his last lines in the most dramatic ways possible. But audience loved it.

Franklin: Friar Laurence excellence. Pretty much the only person besides Pakunoda who didn’t make much fuss, although him having to stick around as Romeo and Juliet turned to sleeping beauties had him stand like 🧍‍♂️ ‘I thought that was supposed to be the greatest love story of all times?’

Bonolenov: Acted unbothered but begged the director to let him be one of the musicians during the ballroom scene instead. He got in a few nights just fine before some fussing spectators and sponsors inquired about why a mummy was on stage during R&J’s most iconic scenes, and if that was supposed to be a Halloween rendition or something.

Hisoka: You can bet he acted his arse out thinking he could bring a brand new flavor to Romeo. He’d have LOVED having to act it out with Chrollo as Juliet lmao, especially if the decors and stage burned down as the two ended up more busy aiming props and unlucky spectators at each other than acting.

All in all, the ones who got no roles: Shizuku (hates her character and can’t remember her lines), Hisoka (self-explanatory).

Members who got kicked out after a few performances: Bonolenov (stood out too much), Phinks (got out of character by bickering way too often with Feitan, made people think Count Paris was into the Nurse), Machi (she took her Tybalt era a bit too seriously), Chrollo (he kept trying to steal the spotlight like sir YOU’RE A SECOND ROLE SIT DOWN).

You doubt even he knows what he wants from you. 

Truly, Chrollo doesn't care for much at all in the world, only the Phantom Troupe and whatever captures his interest at any given time. He doesn't talk about things like the past, but you're sure it carries weight to it from the way the Troupe always put nothing but their utmost faith in him.

‘Hedonistic’ is the word you think of when you think of Chrollo, spoiling himself and the Troupe in the items he steals. Whatever shiny thing catches his eyes will be his. Sometimes you think that with the way he looks at you, perhaps you're just another shiny thing he wants to possess. 

He carries himself like a true gentleman, a well crafted veneer of class and sophistication. The slight bow when he meets others, straight posture, ironed suits, and his finely manicured hands.  

He loves to read, and you can tell, Chrollo, ever the quiet romantic. He can speak endlessly on anything, with a wealth of knowledge beneath his expensive belt. A thief in the skin of a Victorian nobleman. He always insists on taking you to fancy restaurants in Yorknew, even though he always makes you two leave without paying. Gifting you artfully crafted bouquets and expensive jewellery that he almost certainly didn't pay for. Sneaking into orchestras and ballets with no tickets, yourself dressed in the fine jewels and pretty dresses he gets for you, and him in his patent leather coat over his well tailored black suits. 

Sometimes at night, before either of you are tired, he’ll read to you whatever limited edition classic he made off with from a private auction, his soft voice lulling you to sleep. Or perhaps it’s more of a siren’s song than a peaceful lullaby. As you fall asleep, you always feel it, the soft press of his lips against your forehead, right where he has the tattoo on his. 

But at times his gentlemanly charade slips, the facade of a well mannered man falls for just a moment.

You’ll never forget the way he so intently looked at the scarlet eyes of the Kurta, fixated on them, watched them, severed and put into jars surrounded by a yellowish liquid, and faint trails of blood. Like he just couldn't get enough of the sight, a light smile touching his mouth, eyes unable to tear themselves from the sight, needing to indulge himself in the pleasure brought from his spoils, over and over again. 

Sometimes it seems like he wears that same expression when he’s on top of you, with his hair down, shadows cast from his brow to his eye, the flat of his torso splayed across yours, and you can feel every inch of his skin pressing against yours, the slight digging of his hip bones against your flesh. That same fascination and intensity in his stare, boring deep within you. You can feel his attention fall to every minute reaction your body gives up. How he knows every way in which you respond to his touch. His slender hands clench your waist like they're his to hold onto so tightly. His tongue unable to leave you, his eyes drawn to the sheen of his saliva on your skin. He kisses your knees gently after you bruise them on the tough hotel carpets in front of him. He leaves bruises decorating your neck and collarbone for you to wear alongside the necklaces he gifts you. Sometimes he bites down hard, not hard enough to bleed, but hard enough to remind you that he’s the only one allowed to rough you up and treat you kindly after. In all fairness, Chrollo's the only one you let treat you in such a way, the only one who would treat you in such a way. 

And perhaps it is all just a charade, an evocation of old-timey traditionalism to mask his selfish desire to possess you like another one of his stolen treasures. Or maybe he does just want to treat you nice, take you out to rooftop dinners under a setting sun, show that, in a gentlemanly way, of course, he maybe feels something akin to love for you.

You wouldn't know. You doubt even he knows. Chrollo has always been enigmatic, even from when you first met him. And just maybe, he is to himself, too.

Nobunaga definitely doesn’t like the heroes but oddly enough would be open to any of them “opening they’re eyes” and switching sides if they’re strong!

not to say he immediately trusts them tho! Especially around you! His beloved! He hardly lets anyone near you! Those darned heroes aren’t even gonna be able to touch you with a 10 feet poll before they’re sliced into shreds 😤✋

there’ll be no “saving” you on his watch! 😒 he heavily watches over you, if he can’t he’ll have his buddy Uvo do it! (And boy you don’t dare try to escape when he’s around) otherwise, he’ll probably pay Shalnark to do it, this is VERY rare tho

he doesn’t really trust him like that knowing he’s a sadist…..but he’ll do it if it comes down to it. he has faith in the troupe so there’s no one else he’d rather go to

overall you have a pretty decent life! You always have essential needs met like food, clothes and shelter. And! Nobunaga actually does really well controlling his temper around you, so you’re pretty good! He keeps security tight so your chances of getting away are slim. You won’t be going anywhere, but ask for something and he’ll deliver!

Feitan

oh gosh….I LOVE this man but I feel for you when I say your in for it…😃

no. I don’t hc him to abuse/torture you cuz no. I just never liked those hcs tbh 😅 but I don’t exactly think he’ll be all kissy over you LOL

yeah he’s like 100% guaranteed no escape 👍 your not leaving and the heroes ain’t savin you so your best just negotiating with him

he has set rules you CANT trespass, you don’t dare to find out the punishment behind them….yes I think he would threaten you but it’d be the types you don’t know if they’re empty or not. Like the ‘you set foot past this red line and I’ll make sure you never think twice about it again’ type yk?

except that’s TERRIFYING coming from him so you never wanna test it 😭

he’s not sweet or anything but he knows what you like (he knows literally everything about you. You have no secrets) so he makes sure wherever you live has plenty stock of all your fav foods, equipment, merch, clothes whatever!

Machi:

Machi gotta be one of the most skeptical ones ngl. She won’t let you within a 30 meter radius of a single hero no matter how weak they are. She just can’t risk it. If you see them you might try to ask for help, and if they see you and figure something’s “wrong” they, once again, might try to help or “save” you.

she’s always watching though, so even if that situation does come into play, they’ll get they’re neck slit by a thread that leads back a couple blocks down (to her ofc).

she’s very motherly so as long as your not a slob and you don’t try to escape you shouldn’t have much trouble. 😃👍 life with her can pretty much be almost domestic if it wasn’t for her yandere tendencies…😁

The most she would trust to look after you is probably pakunoda. She knows she can take care of someone (like with the cat she saw, she isn’t always hostile like uvogin or smth) so she’s always her go to. Chrollo would be on that list but she doesn’t wanna bombard her boss with her personal affairs n such.

Machi also keeps an eye out for other villains as well, like I said she’s a skeptic so she puts nothing past her. Looking at hisoka here ngl….😑 if he was still interested in pursuing her she’d flat out state she isn’t into him and to drop it. If he doesn’t leave it at that, she’ll ultimately decide to ask the troupe about the matter since members aren’t allowed to fight. It’ll have to be a new rule not to get into each others personal affairs or smth bc hisoka is a MENACE. 😭🗿 At the end of the day, shes still gonna tighten security on your house 😊👍

Phinks:

Phinks is another very possessive one. He’d get so angry if any dumb hero tried to save you and you’ve probably seen him kill before considering how angry he gets. He bashes their head into the ground and……yeah it’s a whole mess.

he likes to take you out a lot despite all the heroes that attempt to save you, oddly enough. He just wants you to get out and have some fun, get some fresh air! You know?? And those stupid heroes always try to ruin it!! Catching themselves tryna be a savior and what not….😤 it just makes him so angry!! Like?? you’re happy aren’t you?!

you get asked that a lot and you’d better give the right answer when he’s in that type of mood. If you don’t he won’t necessarily punish you but he’ll walk off and ignore you for a while. He’s trying to cool off, really, but now you can’t ask him for anything. Like when your mom is angry but you want something so you just go “nvm” 😭😂😂

anyway! It’s become very causal for multiple heroes trying to save you to get pummeled while you’re out on dates, so I hope you can handle some blood…😅 This probably deters you from trying to run away, even though you two go out often. Also the fact that you’re never not practically glued to his hip too.

ultimately you’ll be pretty comfortable in your life with him if you don’t run away and agree with him on his “heroes suck” rants. LOL 😂 he’s a pretty decent cook/at cleaning. He’s still practicing on cooking tho ….but hey! It’s not too bad!

I also forgot to mention he may send some heroes to his buddy Fei, just because he knows he can handle them better in the sense of punishing them 😗 And he’ll call up his buddy Shalnark to track you down if you ever do manage to get away (after that he places a tracker on you—yes it’s connected to his phone)

Shalnark:

Shalnark is like your ultimate op if you’re trying to get away 😭😭 no matter who your yandere is! Because they all go to him to track you down 🙏

so if your his s/o? Yeahhhh no you’re not leaving buddy. First of all he has a crap ton of technology, there’s no way the house isn’t practically bullet proof and you aren’t buffed with trackers- LOL 😭 it’s true tho and I feel for you 😔🙏

as we know he’s pretty sadistic and I don’t really know where I stand as to whether he’s like that towards you or not…..I’d say he’d do it more so mentally than physically, like Chrollo. Let’s face it he probably does view you as a toy, but thankfully one he doesn’t wanna break, so he takes extra special care of you.

for the record I don’t think he’d wanna break you mentally either, then you’d be no fun since he couldn’t even get a reaction out of you! On another note I think he’d realize Uvogin is a bit too rough to watch over you in the case he somehow can’t….(IDK HOW 😭🗿) but Phinks might do the trick! He makes sure you’re safe and demands authority! Plus he won’t hurt you physically! That perfect!

as far as the heroes go, your (missing persons—bc he erased all evidence of him kidnapping you) case will probably close for two reasons 1) he also erased you from the internet, scrubbing every nook and cranny of info on you and 2) he closes it LOL! Ez enough to just hack in the system and change it 🤷‍♀️

Franklin:

Franklin seemed pretty scary at first because he had to assert dominance, making sure you know where you stand and that your his, then he becomes a a sweetheart <3 your relationship is probably something like his and Shizuku’s 💗

Franklin isn’t worried about any heroes “saving” you, he knows he can fend off any that try, and he always keeps a close eye on you no matter what. Plus he made sure to drill ‘no escaping’ in your brain before he started being kinder to you. Don’t mistake that for him letting his guard down though, that’ll be your first mistake.

he wasn’t mean when he was training you not to leave, just strict. But now I think your life with him is second most domestic to Machi tbh! He’s a decent cook and knows how to clean, so as long as you don’t act up- life’s good! 🤗

as far as who he trusts to watch over you while he’s gone, I’d say it’d have to be one of the girls, like any of them really. Machi is caring but a good amount of strict, like him. Weird question but do you think chrollo has a soft spot for kids? Superpowered kids like gon and killua who purposely antagonize him aside (and the whole massacring kurta thing), if he ran into a kid on his off day would he take the time to talk with them and indulge their interests? Personally, I feel as tho he does have a soft spot for kids, not that he couldn't kill a child but that if he doesn't have to he'd prefer not to. However, I'm unsure if he likes to indulge in conversations with children. Chrollo is an interesting, compelling character who seems to enjoy exploring himself but also not. Children are often blunt and speak their minds, and I often think about that time Gon asked a rather direct question with contempt. He worded himself carefully but rather vaguely, which was some of the first few times we as the viewers got to see him sort of uncomfortable. I feel as though children are kind of a reminder of his former childhood innocence which may not be something he wants to be reminded of. I think that his attitude towards hurting children is similar to his aversion to hurting women. Unless it's necessary, or the person is attacking, he doesn't go out of his way to hurt women. The only time we saw him hurt a girl was when he needed to steal Nen and knocking Neon out. Chrollo is way more callous and recklessly violent towards adult men, (Like in the Hisoka vs Chrollo fight with the spectators who were noticeably all men that he turned into cannon fodder) Though, I do think he seriously would avoid killing a female child if he could. I just figured despite how far he's gone, Sarasa's death still greatly impacted him. I feel like if he had to kill a child, it would still leave a bitter aftertaste and not feel good. (Im aware the Kurta clan massacre throws a wrench in that theory, considering the gory details, but I'm also someone who believes that the Spider's involvement may not be as clear cut as we originally thought.)
