Ausflug für 4 Stunden mit dem Longtail Boat zur Maya Bay, PhiLe Bay, Monkey Beach und dem bekannten Viking Cave. Die Lagunen um PhiPhiLe sind ein Paradies zum schnorcheln und Tauchen. Sometimes you need to just get away from everything and left you phone behind... as scary as that may sound! . How have we become so depend on the devices we grip tightly in our hands, afraid to let go? Bouncing from place to place in search of free WiFi? . Yesterday we headed off to Maya Bay, home of ‘The Beach’, it’s now closed off but a boat ride will get you as close as you can. But after 18 years since the film was released and 5000 tourists and 200 boats per day, the fragile eco-system has suffered the consequences. . Back in 2000, smartphones,Facebook, Instagram, selfies and other social media induced things were a long way off and visitors to this beautiful spot were as in the film, word of mouth and crossing your fingers hoping the film developed. But looking at the #mayabeach tag and there are so many “I’m glad I got chance to visit” posts but all of them are full with strangers and boards of people... that wasn’t what “The Beach” was about. Has it become what it was hoping to not become in the film? It’s sad to see 😢 . I was fortunate to have been to this place multiple times and lately I really felt it was high time this place needed to be cut off. Located in the Phi Phi Islands, Maya Bay was temporarily closed to tourists in June of 2018 and set to reopen in October 2018. But the site will now remain closed indefinitely. Throwback to September and our trip to the beautiful PhiPhi island, lunching on the beach and not wearing shoes all day 🏝🥰 . It’s been wet, windy and dark all day this week, I’m definitely in the mood to hunker down and hibernate until the summer 🙈 . I love Christmas, and I love getting cosy at home with a blanket, fresh PJs and Netflix movies; but I am also a creature of the sun and love feeling it’s rays on my skin warming me up, flip flops and beachwear. It’s not really the right time of year for those at the moment, but I did wear my flip flops this week as they were the easiest thing to put on 😆 . Phi Phi Ley is a beautiful point of attraction, with its beautiful rock outcroppings, stunning coral reefs and picture perfect beaches.
