aaaaa geez im so sorry this post took me so long to get around to!

i got the top secret journal! it's... a little lacking compared to what i thought it was going to be like, but there's still some cute things to note!

prepare yourself for some terrible quality photos

i guess i thought there would be more banter or interesting facts about from hoops and yoyo (and everyone else too). but unfortunately, most of the pages are blank for you to write on with only small renders of the gang and speech bubbles :/

i did think this render was cute

oh well, there's still fun things i noticed. first, this book was published in 2011.

i can't share every render, but one thing i noticed were some characters rarely seen in h&y media, like the blue bird who appeared in early homepages, chili bear, puck, and newbie, who i didn't even know about until recently.

yoyo's best friend is hoops (awww)

hoops' best friend is newbie (but he's not sure what he is)

hoops likes to be in charge (which yoyo says isn't a secret and that he is a loud talker)

hoops oftentimes goes too far with a practical joke (yoyo says it's been 17 times)

hoops likes being small

piddles is bilingual (cool fact that carried over from the ecards!)

yoyo loves donuts

yoyo doesn't have elbows (huh?)

piddles' big dream is going to move to los angeles and become a rock star

another thing i noticed is there's a place to put a lock. maybe it came with a lock and key? hmmmm

Possible Storyline (press read more)

"after working for Hallmark for many years when they were young adults making e-cards, physical cards, merch, a Christmas and Halloween TV special, a Christmas album, and a collaboration album with Parry Gripp, Halmark no longer needed the relatable cat and bunny duo in the late 2010s. They tried to get acting gigs to in bigger roles no one wanted to hire them, so they decided the leave the famous internet webtoon life style and went back to their normal life as it was before and went their sperate ways until years later in the present decade as they are now roomates having terrible jobs"

Hoops: "the pink kitty now in his late 30s turning 40 has been working at another office job, with shitty co-workers, and a boss who out right hates him for making those e-cards in the past, Hoops sorta regrets his Internet celebrity past as he somewhat hates to be recognized by his fans but in a way it brights his spirits whenever people tell their stories of how both hoops and yoyo brought people joy from their childhoods along with living as a roommate to his long time friend and now possible crush Yoyo"

Yoyo: "the green bunny who is also in his late 30s has become a part time indie musician, as he is now a stay at home employee, he doesn't even know what this job is as it's a mixed bag of online orders type for different corpate stores, as he also has to deal with multiple orders at once along with costumer service calls he gets as stress gets to him Along with Hoops he is mixed on getting recognized by his fans he hates it but still loves to here the childhood memories stories that his fans tell him as it also brighting up his spirits to keep him going along with his long time friend also possible crush hoops"

Piddles: "both hoops and you don't know what happened to piddles. The last time they talked was the day Hallmark no longer needed them, they both theorize Piddles probably wants a private life and no longer wants to be associated as a famous webtoon celeb, and wants to live a normal life"

HOOPS AND YOYO'S HAUNTED HALOWEEN STUFFF!!!!

Hoops and Yoyo’s Haunted Halloween Is a 2D Special made for the Hallmark channel by Bent Image Lab and released October 2012 making it 11 years old.

Its a neat little short that changes the dynamic up a bit with Piddles being a voice of reason type character. It has a few good jokes its alright worth at least 1 watch. Following the film is the music video for Wacky Werewolf, they were definitely made at the same time as they release within the same time span and also reuse background characters from Haunted Halloween. I have a DVD copy of the movie and uploaded the movie and its behind the scenes video to YouTube for you all to watch.

Now for some facts and trivia, 

The short was nominated for Best production design in an animated television/broadcast production for the 40th Annie Awards as seen on the DVD’s box and on the site of Pedro Martin who has an interesting connection with Hoops and Yoyo as he did A LOT of work with the franchise including a lot of merchandise work but thats a topic for another day. Heres some of his background/key art he did for the movie.

The Intro to Haunted Halloween was reused in a youtube video with a more generic message

An official spanish dub exists as the movie was broadcast in Disney XD Latin America and only exists through a tv recording of it airing in 2013

The Power Rangers franchise has been a part of my childhood since I got exposed to it through Samurai, even though its source material, Super Sentai, is better in my opinion.

Happy 5th anniversary, Total DramaRama! (Premiere date: September 1st, 2018)

Though this spin-off of the Total Drama franchise is very controversial, Its still one of my favorite shows in that series for its off-the-walls humor

Despite its initial rocky reception, many have warmed up to the show for its comedy, absurdness, and its titular character being credited as the "survivor" of the HBO Max (now called Max) purge.

Though JDF is no longer with us, his legacy and likeliness will forever be a part of us. May he rest in peace.

Happy 25th anniversary, Oggy and The Cockroaches! (Premiere date: September 6, 1998)

One of my favorite French cartoons when I was younger, having a formula akin to Tom and Jerry but with the title character winning most of the time. Truly a classic from Xilam.

And finally, I present you 20th anniversary of Hoops & Yoyo!

(yes I know the actual release date for the cards is September 11th, but I really don't want to be insensitive during that day)

Initially starting as Hallmark greeting cards before becoming a web cartoon and eventually a franchise, Hoops & Yoyo has been a personal favorite to some due to its simplistic artstyle, the titular characters plus Piddles being adorable creatures with lovable personalities, and its vibrant setting. I have to admit, Bob Holt and Mike Adair really deserve the appreciation they got when creating this line of cards.
