Lördagskänslan…. stanna för länge vid matbordet, helt random bläddra mellan bok, Instagram… rensat i Kindle-plattan så att det det går att ta sig igenom raderna av sparade artiklar som aldrig kommer läsas. Laddat ner Kara Swishers bok, köpte James Allens ”As a man thinketh”, vars fysiska kopia jag beställde från Amazon var ett oläsligt digitaltryck… Jag har 61% kvar av ”A Little History of Religion”… skall komma tillbaka till den….

Gjorde en ansträngning och läste klart You2, alltså You Squared av Price Pritchett. Den resonerar verkligen just nu, jag plockade upp den vid rätt tillfälle. Den är som en destillerad ”Think and Grow Rich”, det handlar om att sätta mål högt ovanför vad man tror att man klarar, att kasta sig in i processen, och surfa på vågen av det momentum man satt igång.

Detta känns centralt just nu. Så mycket av mina framsteg har handlat om att kasta sig in i situationer och hoppas på att ens kapacitet kan bära en. Tänker på när jag startade MAN och började jobba på engelska utan att verifiera detta. Eller när vi började skriva pitchdeck till investerare. Utmaningen många gånger är att identifiera det som just en SKILL. Saker som kommer naturligt för mig har jag svår att identifiera som unikt, eftersom det inte KÄNNS som att jag jobbar. Detta är värt att meditera över eller skriva poesi om.

Fall in love:

Quantum leaps won’t happen if you’re living life with a lukewarm heart.

Give yourself permission to purse what you want most.

Set your sights far above the “reasonable” target.

Make your move before you’re ready:

You don’t “prepare” for a quantum leap.

Strategy formulation evolves naturally out of your discovery process.

A quantum leap is something you are already prepared to do!

A quantum leap is a move that is yours for the taking. Right now. It represents a giant step you can make merely by deciding to and opening yourself up to the resources presently available to you.

“Getting ready” is quite frankly a stalling tactic.

You are already positioned to escape to a higher plane of performance.

Det finns en bekräftelse här att hämta också. Så många av de stegen som nämns i boken, att kliva ur sin komfortzon, att ta risker, göra misstag, lära sig från dem, har jag redan gjort under de senaste 7 åren. Jag har kastat mig in i stationer, lärt mig navigera nya vatten. Det jag INTE gjort hittills, eller fram till för ett år sedan, är att bestämma mig för att jag ska bli framgångsrik, att framgång tillhör mig, att jag är värd att bli en av dem som höjer sig över massan. DET är min största och sista utmaning. Det är den jag antar just nu.

Bud pågår. Kommer vi köpa det här huset? Ja, det känns så. Märklig denna process. Jag känner mig utom mig själv, jag är inte en del av det som händer. Jag är en observatör.

Sitter ju redan och tänker på inredning. Scrollar mig långt ner i Jay Fieldens Instagram-flöde för att hitta bilder på hans hemmakontor. Sparar bilder som representerar ”bookshelf wealth”, en TikTok-trend tydligen. Hittar en inredare som heter Laura Jenkins som gör lyxig americana/Hamptons-stil på ett sobert och inspirerande sätt.

Gjorde nyss misstaget att kasta in en Gott och blandat-godis i munnen och självklart lossnade den tillfälliga kåpan över rotfyllningen på direkten. Jag är så trött på detta. Ska jag in och laga denna på måndag? Orka! Verkar som om det finns lagning ovanpå, kanske kan jag hålla mig tills jag ska dit måndagen innan påsk.

Läser Wild Geese högt för mig själv. Det är en rutin jag gör flera gånger i veckan. Jag kan den utantill nu.

Så vi köpte huset. Efter lite fram och tillbaka och en annan budgivare som önskade vänta till måndag för att bekräfta höjning av lånelöfte så lyckades vi stänga det. Mäklaren mycket glad. Helt otroligt omvälvande, och jag kände bara glädjeyra på vägen dit. Vilken vecka! Tog en och en halv timme att skriva, gå igenom avtal. Fick veta att arkitekten som ritade huset bodde i det själv i 40 år, tills hans änka tog över i tre år, innan J köpte det med sin dåvarande fru. Måste försöka forska i denna arkitekt, vilken information som nu kan finnas. Måste också fråga säljarna om de har bilder på hur det såg ut när de köpte. Fanns exempelvis originalkök?

Vi satt upp till midnatt och kollade inspirationsbilder på Instagram och gnabbades över planlösningen. Så många idéer snurrar i huvudet.

Below is a summary of what was discussed between our team and Chris during our pitchdeck presentation, anything in { } represents my own reflections, either said in the meeting or thought about after the fact.

Loops

Second to Second loop - Puzzles. Work offer (contract) take / solve / paid (credits). (payment is a reward) how do i get these? {through the terminals mentioned above.}

Minute to Minute Loop - Using credits - to personalise your living space. (what is it like) why? {space can be a relaxing atmosphere, and we as a team thought it was fitting.} Have you looked into feng shui? {no- this definitely something important to research.} Interior design. Music packs - and radio. (hitman) 

Hour to Hour loop - (Talos Principle, Outer Wilds) fragments of story - come together over time. - how do I get these fragments? {audio logs, writing, evironmental clues, these are all valid ways we could do this.} What is this story? {unsure at the moment- may not even be a part of the vertical slice.}

Puzzles - all puzzles are random? {puzzles will be randomly generated within their ruleset.}

How many attempts? {infinite.} Do I get paid less? {no, there is no punishment for failing a puzzle.} How do I feel as a player being bad at puzzles? {Failing a puzzle should have no long lasting negative impacts. The player should understand they failed the puzzle, then are allowed to try again.}

What purpose do the puzzles serve - are they actually needed? {we have them to make up the second to second loop, without them the game lacks structure.} Seems like speed bumps? Are they? - think more about who your target audience is? {these raise a good point about the implementation of these puzzle- are we happy with how they combine with the room-building side of the game?}

Room - buying things - zen.

What other customisation? if I dislike the visuals, can I undo? {yes and yes, customization will be a really important part of this.}

Can room items tell the story? {this would be a potenital way to combine the room-building with the puzzles, so maybe.}

Workplace monotony burnout and depression / no longer the theme.

Mental health 

Focus on relaxation for the player rather than the game focus on the theme.

Cozy games need more focus.

Feeling like a means to and end… think this needs to be refined. {agree with this statement completely, reflection is need on how the puzzle side of the game fits in with the room-building past just "puzzles give money, spend money on furniture." There needs to be more there to give it more of a reason, and make it feel less like 2 different games.}

The biggest takeaway from this meeting is that while our idea has potential, the biggest gap is why are we we making the player do these puzzles to get to the room-building?

There's no link outside of needing the money for it. Having money in the first place may not be something we want anyway, as thats something that could affect someone's mental health in real life.

Week 9: Pitchdeck Version 3

This iteration marks my third attempt at refining my pitch deck. Despite my efforts, I find that it still carries an elementary appearance. While I've experimented with incorporating grids into the design to enhance its structure, the overall effect falls short of my expectations. I remain discontent with the color scheme, which I believe contributes to the flatness of the presentation. I do like the hand drawn element of the ink - it creates a breakage in the two dimensionless of the deck.

Our Pitch

The Pitchdeck Link

Last week, our big moment; presenting the pitch deck. As the producer of the project, I was definitely feeling a mix of excitement and nerves leading up to the presentation. There are so many major things I'm dealing with in production for the first time, such as working with a child actor, and working with a bunch of exterior locations. This made me a little nervous in case I got a question I was unsure about. I think I tend to doubt myself even when I feel confident about a project, so I think pitching definitely helps to develop this.

Despite the nerves, I reminded myself of the passion behind our project and the dedication of the amazing team I have. We had rehearsed, fine-tuned our pitch deck, and believed in the story we were telling. I tried to focused on sharing our enthusiasm, confidence, and conviction, letting the excitement of our concept shine through!

One thing I've learned is that nerves are a natural part of the process. I think they show that you care deeply about your project and want to do it justice.

Receiving feedback after the pitch was incredibly valuable. It was reassuring to see our story resonate with others, and the constructive feedback helped us further strengthen our pitch.

Our main feedback consisted of:

Small issues with story, not convinced without the name that the story would make sense, why is Arthur in love with the sky?

Nice design and feels professional

Confidence and enthusiasm about the project which was nice

I was also super happy with my design for the pitch deck. I recently did a work placement with Restless Natives Studios to which I got to review and learn how to refine pitch decks to ensure they are in the best state for funding!!

We also had a sizzle reel which I feel really captured the tone we are going for. We combined this with Gaby's soundscape to save time and I really feel like it came alive.
