Let’s normalise checking peoples boundaries before we write for them <33

*tagging sapnap and tommy because these are the ones I see most commonly having boundaries broken and this is important information, especially for new writers

I see so many people break peoples boundaries and I understand that for some creators they can be hard to find, but when a creator has clearly stated them and people still break them it’s upsetting and just plain wrong. For mcyt this blog is a brilliant resource but otherwise, searching [name boundaries] on google, Twitter or YouTube will normally give you some results. As a general rule: DON’T WRITE ANYTHING BUT PLATONIC FOR MINORS (and only if they’re comfortable being written for at all), AND IF YOU’RE A MINOR DON’T WRITE OR INTERACT WITH NSFW. This isn’t just to protect cc’s - it’s also to protect you!!

I know a lot of writers, including myself, write our own characters who are inspired by these people rather than seeing them as the actual cc, but at the end of the day we need to remember that these are REAL PEOPLE with REAL AND VALID FEELINGS.

This isn’t attacking anyone, but please, PLEASE check boundaries before you write for creators. As I said, I understand not all of them are clear or accessible but please at least look.

However, on the flip side, if you notice someone breaking a cc’s boundaries: inform them POLITELY. Sometimes it is a genuine mistake or boundaries change. If it’s not a commonly known boundary in the community, it can be helpful to send in the clip or resource you heard it from. If you are made aware that your content breaks boundaries, please change or delete it!! I know that it’s upsetting to delete something you worked hard on but at the end of the day you did it because you like a cc- you can show that even more by removing the content.
