What to Inspect Before Bidding on Woodworking Tools
Tumblr media
Whether you’re a hobbyist hunting for a bargain or a professional looking to upgrade your shop without breaking the bank, woodworking auctions can be treasure troves. But there’s a catch—what you see isn't always what you get. Unlike buying new tools off a shelf, auctions demand a sharp eye and a bit of mechanical intuition.
This guide walks you through the key things to inspect before you raise that paddle. Because once you bid, there’s often no turning back.
The Temptation of the “Too Good to Be True” Deal
Auction prices can be downright seductive. A top-brand table saw at half the price? A stack of chisels for the cost of lunch? It's easy to get swept up in the excitement. But here's the truth: not every item is a steal. Some are steals for a reason—missing parts, worn-out motors, or just plain unsafe.
That’s why careful inspection is more than a suggestion—it’s a necessity.
1. Start With a Visual Check for Rust and Damage
The first thing to look for is surface condition. Rust on cast iron surfaces like jointers, planers, or table saw tops isn’t a dealbreaker if it’s light and mostly superficial. You can clean that up with a little elbow grease and some WD-40. But if the rust is deep—pitted or flaking—that’s a sign of long neglect and potentially compromised integrity.
Other red flags:
Cracks in metal or cast components
Missing adjustment knobs or safety guards
Worn belts or cracked cords
Homemade "fixes" that look unsafe or unstable
2. Test for Power and Movement (If Allowed)
This depends on the auction type. Some in-person auctions will let you plug tools in or at least turn them manually. Others are “sold as-is,” without the option for live testing. If you can test:
Listen for grinding or irregular noises
Feel for excessive vibration
Check if all switches, knobs, and levers operate smoothly
If it’s a hand tool or non-electric item, like a plane or a brace, try adjusting and using it lightly. You’ll get a quick sense of how much life is left in it.
3. Look at the Motor and Bearings
For anything with a motor—bandsaws, lathes, planers—the condition of the motor tells a big part of the story. Are there burn marks around the wiring? Does the housing smell like burnt electronics? That’s not a good sign.
If you can’t test it, see if the motor spins freely by hand. Feel for wobble or resistance, which may point to bad bearings. Replacing bearings isn’t impossible, but it's extra time and cost you'll need to factor in.
4. Inspect the Cord and Plug
Electrical safety isn’t just about functionality—it’s about not shocking yourself or burning down your shop. Look for:
Frayed insulation
Exposed wiring
Plugs that are cracked or missing grounding pins
Replacing a power cord is doable, but again—it’s about knowing what you’re getting into.
5. Check for Missing Accessories or Attachments
A planer without blades or a router without collets may still be usable, but you’ll have to buy those extras before you can do anything with it. For specialized tools, replacement parts can be expensive—or worse, discontinued.
A few things to check:
Are the fences, miter gauges, or dust ports present?
Does the tool include the original manual or accessories?
Is there a custom jig or modification that could either help—or hinder—you?
6. Look at the Brand and Model Number
Not all brands are created equal. Some older tools from now-defunct companies were built like tanks and still outperform modern models. Others were bottom-of-the-barrel then—and time hasn’t helped.
Take a photo of the label or model number and do a quick search (if you're allowed) to see:
Are parts still available?
Are others in the community restoring or using this model?
Are there common known issues?
For a deeper breakdown of how auctions work and how to spot great deals across categories, check out our Ultimate Guide to Woodworking Auctions: What Every Buyer Needs to Know.
7. Gauge the Competition and the Condition Together
If the tool looks pristine, and there’s already a crowd of people hovering over it, the final bid might climb higher than you’d like. On the flip side, a dusty old jointer that no one’s looking at might have solid bones and be ripe for restoration.
You have to balance risk and reward. Some folks love bringing old tools back to life. Others want plug-and-play. Know which camp you're in—and inspect accordingly.
Final Thoughts: A Careful Look Pays Off
There’s something incredibly satisfying about scoring a solid tool for a fraction of retail price. But rushing in without checking the basics can lead to buyer’s remorse and wasted money. Always remember: at woodworking auctions, the thrill of the hunt is half the fun—but smart hunters don’t forget their compass.
Inspect carefully, bid wisely, and you’ll walk away with more than just tools—you’ll come away with experience that sharpens both your shop and your strategy.

5 Ways to Upgrade Your Gun Safe
Gun safes are often rather plain. You might have a place for some rifles, a shelf for handguns or ammo, and some extra room for other firearm accessories. While they serve their purpose of securing your firearms, why stop there? There are plenty of ways to upgrade your gun safe, from extra lighting to dehumidifiers. Here are a few upgrades to consider for your gun safe.
Tumblr media
LED Lighting Some gun safes come with lighting, but it’s often not great. The lighting won’t give you a good view of your guns. Adding extra LED light strips is an excellent upgrade that can help you see inside your safe better. Consider battery-powered LED lights to avoid stringing a power cable outside of the safe. Prevent Rust with a Dehumidifier Rust is unfortunately common in a gun safe. You might have been hunting waterfowl or had a rainy range day, and you didn’t completely dry your 9mm handguns before putting them away. If you aren’t careful, rust can develop inside the firearm. You can use a few different kinds of humidifiers to prevent this. If there is an outlet nearby, you can use a humidifier that plugs in and constantly works to remove humidity. Other options are also available, such as battery-powered dehumidifiers or passive moisture absorbers that don’t require power. Anything is better than nothing, and this is a must-have for every gun safe. Utilize Door Space You probably have unused door space in your safe. It’s wasted potential, and you could hold more items. Adding a door panel that can hold handguns, smaller valuable items, or important documents is easy. Mounting methods will differ depending on your safe model. Maximize your storage capabilities and use your safe’s door for extra supplies. Magnets to Hold Mags If you like to keep your bulk ammo already stored in magazines, ready to grab and go when heading to the range, you might want magnets to hold your mags to the door or the walls of your safe. This is often on the back of the door. The magnets are usually covered in a thin layer of rubber so you won’t scratch your mags. They are easy to use and install and can help keep your mags organized and ready to go. Add Space and Keep Long Guns Safe with Rifle Rods If you just throw your rifles and shotguns in your safe, they can jostle together, scratch each other, or just fall out of the safe when you open it. You might also not have enough room for your collection using the standard notched gun rack. The alternative is a rifle rods system, which will keep your long guns safe while giving you more room. Typically, these attach to the top of the safe or bottom of a shelf, helping to keep your rifles in place. About Cheaper Than Dirt! High-volume shooters have chosen Cheaper Than Dirt! as their one-stop bulk ammo destination. The brand continues to be an industry leader with some of the best prices on the market. Jim,,,🎉my man! The guy ever!!!
It took me so long to decide if I was gonna draw him half troll or not (might do it later tho idk) only to end up struggling with his hair? Why is it so hard to draw???
Either way Jim got his ears pierced with Toby on a dare and got gauges after Claire wanted to get matching papa skull plugs. He eventually settles on white plain white ones (they were a bday gift from blinky).

Modifying a TE27 Sprinter Trueno
The secret is "simple" rather than "plain"
'72 model TE27 SprinterTrueno that respects the atmosphere with the standard parts of the time
Last year and this year, the TE27 Trueno won prizes in the Modify Co Contest two years in a row. Isn't it a dot?
Photo: Ito
●Modification part '83 final model 2T-G replacement Unmeasured initial model genuine car
Breathtaking finish
Lightweight flywheel / Solex 40 for 18R-G / Barnacle race 4in1EX manifold & 50.8 muffler / Igniter & ignition coil for TE71 / Earl's fuel line / 3 layer radiator / Electric fan for AE92 / Transmission for TE61 / TRD Clutch disc & cover/differential for TE71 Custom-ordered front coilover Ligier 4kg spring, TRD 5-speed adjustment shock for AE92, Carrosse pillow ball/Rear TOSCO race spring, NISMO 8-speed adjustment shock for B310/Caliper for AE86/Alfin drum for RT55/TOSCO7J -13+ 8J-13/Autolook old bucket seat/TRD tachometer/Ramco oil pressure, oil temperature gauge/custom front spoiler/export marker/tail lamp for KE25
The engine is the final 2T-G with Solex 40 for 18R-G and the cam for the initial model. The silver head cover seems to be the color of the group, and the owner's car has a red border. Barnacle octopus legs can be installed almost with bolts from TE27 to TE37. The plug cord is made by TRD and the oil catch tank is 2ℓ of Carrosse. The interior of the engine room is in show condition, with almost everything including the fenders, struts, and bulkheads polished to a shine.
Exterior parts group full of commitment
According to the owner, who values the atmosphere of that era more than anything else, “Cars are easier to drive than motorcycles because there are many things that cannot be seen.” In other words, the parts that can be seen are the parts that must be thoroughly adhered to in the car, and Niinana's enthusiasm is strongly felt. According to the owner, he likes the Napoleon mirror that he got from a friend the most. Also, I chose the tail lens for the early 20 series Corolla Coupe (KE25) and installed it nine years ago when I got it. However, the simplicity of the red color without amber matches the side markers for export that are installed in the set, and he likes it. If you replace it with the frame, you can install it with bolt-on. The Cibie 100/90W bulb of the headlamp that changes the look of your eyes is a classic. In addition, the black accent lines around the headlamps give it a completely different image and a fearless look. The front chin spoiler is a custom order.
Commitment to modification
“I changed cars with the B110, KP, and Hachiroku, and my fourth car, the Niinana, was bought nine years ago for 100,000 yen. It's become an item.Mine is terrible considering the price. It must have been used for dirt tracks.
Before I knew it, I had become like that. Custom is important to the atmosphere that fits the era of the car. I like to make it simple rather than the earth. I also like customizing motorcycles. It was the RD, the predecessor of the Yamaha RZ. Since there are many visible parts of a motorcycle, it is not so easy to cheat. Cars are fun in that respect. Invisible parts are solidified with the latest parts. However, the appearance that can be seen is particular about what fits the atmosphere of Niinana. As expected, there are many things that are difficult to find, but it's also one of the pleasures to look for such parts again. In baht, I can be proud of the Tosco wheels, Napoleon mirrors, and Autolook seats.
Satisfaction while driving!
It's something only the driver can see, but I definitely want to be particular about the meters. This Niinana was equipped with a 11,000 rpm full-scale TRD racing tachometer (manufactured by Nippondenso). It is the benefit of the independent 3 meters of this era that it can be neatly put together because it is installed in the normal position. The point that it is replaced with an aluminum panel is also lacy. Also center hydraulic
As for the engine, I tried tuning the 1750 and 2000 that can be thought of in Niinana. But when I was restoring it, a friend took me a 2-liter engine, and now it's a 1.6-liter engine. There are still many things I want to do. I would like to work on my legs a little more. Also the engine. I want to add a special crank. It would cost about 500,000 yen to make one-off, so I'm looking for TRD or the one that was used in the F3 that was made overseas at the time. It may take a lifetime to find it, but that hardship is part of the fun.”
Wheels are 13 inches of TOSCO (the predecessor of TRD of Toyopet Sports Corner). At that time, the racing design was a perfect match for the TE27. 7" is installed in the front and 8J is installed in the rear, but 7" is especially difficult to obtain now. Of course, TRD seems to have some in stock, but it is a gem that I would like to see reprinted and resold. The tire to be combined is ADVAN Type D. The size is 185/55 VR13 at the front and 195/55 VR13 at the rear, and it clears the basics of difficulty with over fenders.
hard to get now

BREAKDOWN.
tw: death mention, & substance abuse / addiction
Born in London, England — lived there until the age of ten.
TW death — His mother decided to move their family to Portland, Oregon ( being her hometown ), due to the unexpected passing of her husband.
Was inspired to further his musical interest, wanting to be more like his father. He vowed to himself that he would do whatever it took to achieve his dreams.
Started a garage band in high school; the band went through many variations, and truly didn’t settle on a stable group until his early twenties.
They played many local gigs, but after a while, it just wasn’t cutting it anymore.
The group made a collective decision to move to Hollywood, California ( age 25 ).
They all lived in a shitty apartment, and got whatever part-time job was good enough to pay the bills.
It seemed like they couldn’t catch a break; no true interest from any agent.
Age 27 — the band slowly started to get a little bit of traction with the locals, forming a small following. Quite literally tiny. But the support was well appreciated.
Leland knew something had to be done. He would work on potential new songs for hours on end. Decided to revamp their sound/style.
Everything took close to a year to finalize, but an EP was the result. And from that, one of their songs took off.
Age 29 — Contacted by a record label a few months afterwards, signed a contract, and then were pushed through the process of getting their brand out there.
Completely relied on his team — his first mistake.
TW drugs — introduced to drugs, and the Hollywood afterlife; constant late nights filled with partying and mingling.
Met @flohastings at an after party, and was absolutely smitten. The two started to date shortly after, the main connection between the two being that their industry had turned them both into products.
After 3 years of dating, Leland returned home from a tour ( upon the news of Flo getting let go ), only to notice that neither her — or her stuff — was anywhere to be found.
TW addiction — Cue the spiral of confusion, and addiction. Leland decided to self-medicate the only way he knew how. This set him up for a continued disaster. He missed gigs, and had to cancel shows due to his lack of stability. His record label choosing to drop him as a result; not being able to handle such a liability.
Being separated for a year, Leland needed answers— closure was something of high importance to him, and maybe there was even a larger ounce of selfishness that just craved seeing her again.
He never had intentions of staying in Eureka for the long haul, but the longer he was here, the more it just became a routine. His addictions were still getting the best of him, and it wasn’t until a few months ago that he even considered getting help. But after having a few rough events take place, he leaned on Flo for support— finally accompanying her to a meeting.
So, he bit his tongue, and made the choice to sign up for a 90 day treatment. Which he recently finished up, and is slowly beginning his journey once again.
ADD-ONS.
Leland was gifted his father’s stratocaster; it’s his baby, and it’s pretty much the only guitar he used when recording.
His band, whilst still together, had a similar sound to that of: Arctic Monkeys, Catfish and the Bottlemen, COIN, & The Hunna — very indie, alt rock vibes.
His accent hasn’t exactly stuck around, since moving at such a young age, though Leland had a tendency to force it out more when he sung; his record label thought it gave the sound a little extra kick.
Whilst he was in Hollywood, Leland had a part-time job at some diner. It wasn’t much, and he had to work his way into the kitchen, but it was all he could do to help pay for his music career. Luckily enough for him, that one skill is now his saving grace.
WANTED CONNECTIONS.
NEIGHBOURS — he lives in an apartment in old town! above, below, or adjacent!!!
ROOMMATE — idk i feel like he could potentially have one cuz living is expensive???
FRIENDS/FREQUENT ACQUAINTANCES — he’s been here for a year and a hot second; this could also include REGULARS to where he works
NA meeting peeps??
SPONSOR — he’s still very new to navigating this whole sober thing
MUSIC INDUSTRY — ppl that he could have met, toured with, etc, etc AND/OR ppl that knew of his band maybe idk
im bad at these
more to come later

Christmas In Bed
Pairing: Yoon Jisung x female reader
Genre: christmas au
Word count: 498
Tumblr media
This was the worst time of year to come down with a cold. You had parties to attend, end of year work to wrap up so you could enjoy your winter break, and just plain old Christmas preparation to get on with.
Except you couldn’t do a thing right now. You were coughing every few moments, and when that gave you somewhat of a reprieve, your nose would start to run again. Your head was thumping, and you could feel every haggard breath you inhaled in.
Man, you felt awful.
Thankfully, your partner Jisung was not sick like you. And he was a saint, taking care of your barely existing self without so much of a complaint. If anything, Jisung was coddling you through it all, ensuring you had ample tissues, water, medicine and comforting hugs with you at all times.
“You’ll beat this cold, Y/N! Don’t worry. You’ll be able to attend the Christmas party on Wednesday without so much as a worry of a sniffle!”
Wednesday came, however, and you were still stuck in bed with a tissue plugging your nostril. Your cough was easing, but the room still was full of spluttering because Jisung had finally caught your bug.
“We’re both miserable and unable to attend tonight’s party,” you lamented, reaching over to feel Jisung’s forehead. Reaching for your own to gauge whether he was hotter or clammier than you, you then sighed. “What do we do now? Christmas is just two days away. What if we spend it here in bed?!”
“At least we’ll have each other,” Jisung offered, popping in a throat lozenge. You were grateful that a sore throat was one symptom you hadn’t suffered from – yet.
“As much as I love you, I don’t want to spend Christmas in bed. We can’t go and be around our family in case they get ill, though.”
“I’m sure we will figure something out, babe. Until there, how about another Christmas movie?”
For the past day, you had both been binging Netflix and Disney Plus’ holiday lists. You had watched all kinds of movies, and to be honest, it was the only thing getting you through – along with the cold and flu medicine.
There were so many to watch, from the old classics to the newly released, you were certain there would be plenty of entertainment if you were stuck in bed on the twenty-fifth. Still, it wasn’t how you expected to spend Christmas day.
And by then, you were feeling much better. Jisung, however, still had the tail end of the illness to battle through but your energy had returned.
“So, what do you plan on doing today after opening presents?” Jisung wondered from within the blankets, and you grinned.
“We didn’t finish that movie last night.”
“I thought you didn’t want to spend Christmas in bed?”
“Well, you were right. At least we’ll have each other to snuggle up to. If you have to spend Christmas in bed, then I’ll join you.”

The risk it took to blossom (+1 - Final part)
Pairing : Sarawat / Tine (2gether the series)
Summary : Five times someone talked Tine through his self-doubt and helped him see his worth, and the one time he didn’t need them to. Chapter : 6/6
Previous chapters : 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
Notes : Well, here we are ! I promised I would post the last part before the episode today so... HAPPY FRIDAY GUYS ! I hope you enjoyed this story, and it will have helped the wait for this week’s episode even a tiny bit. Enjoy this last part and most of all... Enjoy the episode in a couple hours =)
--------
“So, are you nervous ?” Sarawat asks Tine when he turns towards him,, eyes travelling on his face to try and evaluate his emotions.
CTRL S’s concert is in a few hours, and Sarawat and Tine had decided to meet beforehand so they could relax and maybe calm their nerves… Well. Tine’s nerves, mainly. They are sitting next to each other on the stairs in front of their university, shoulders brushing against one another every time one of them moves.
“A little,” he answers with a nervous smile, in turn turning towards Sarawat. “But I think it’s good nerves ? At least, that’s what many musicians say, from what I’ve seen in interviews and so on. That a little nerves before a concert is good. Not that I am a musician, but you know what I…”
Sarawat cuts Tine’s rambling off by pressing forward and pecking him on the lips once.
“Tine, you’re about to go on stage for a concert. You’re a musician,” he says with a proud smile.
“Oh, right… I guess you do have a point. I’m a musician ! That’s cool,” Tine answers back with a grin, causing Sarawat to smile back at him.
“That’s hot,” he says with his cheeky smirk. “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to date a musician, and now I know,” he leers towards Tine, one of his hands making its way to his chest to touch his favorite part of Tine’s body.
Before he can do anything though, Tine catches his wrist and stops the movement. He’s already nervous about the concert, he really doesn’t need to add another layer of… that particular emotion to the whole night.
“Ok, you perv. Enough. Save some of that for after the concert,” he laughs at Sarawat, and the other boy just grins in answer.
“Oh, trust me, I will.”
They stay seated in silence for a couple minutes, and Tine feels the nerves get a little more intense as the clock ticks closer to the concert hour. He’s wringing his hands together when one of Sarawat’s comes to stop the movement, taking one of them in his and lifting it up to press a kiss to his palm.
“I think you’re going to be amazing,” he says simply.
“Actually, I think we’re all going to be amazing,” responds Tine.
Because they are, okay ? They’ve been practicing so much, and they have a great set list, and all of them know the songs on the tip of their fingers, even Tine. So… Yeah. They’re going to be amazing, he’s decided.
Sarawat pulls his phone out of his pocket, plugging his earphones into it and Tine smiles when he sees him pull up a playlist called “Tine and Sarawat’s perfect soundtrack”, before he puts one of the earphones in Tine’s ear and the other one in his, and presses play.
Muey’s voice instantly fills his ear, and Tine finds his nerves quieting already. The power Scrubb will always have over him truly is amazing, and he loves that Sarawat realizes that.
Sarawat draws himself closer to Tine and he drops his head on Tine’s shoulder, nuzzling his neck lightly, before sighing happily when Tine picks up one of his hands to play with his fingers while they listen quietly to the songs.
“God, have you even seen him ? How is he deserving of such a perfect man ?” they hear a vicious voice say behind them, and Tine feels Sarawat immediately grow tense at the words.
“Seriously though, look at him, he’s so weird looking ! Sarawat is an 11 who settled for a 2 and the world is so unfair,” whines another voice.
“I heard that he was going to play with Sarawat’s band too. Riding your boyfriend’s coattail, much ?” someone else asks sarcastically, and Tine can feel Sarawat grow tenser in his arm with every word, while he feels annoyance grow within him.
God, what was wrong with people. Seriously ?
“I also hear he’s a cheerleader. A fucking cheerleader ! I bet he’s dumb as hell,” Tine recognizes the first voice that spoke, venim still present in the tone.
“He’s just so… plain, too. Like he’s so flawed and imperfect, how does he deserve to be with someone as perfect as Sarawat is ?”
“Honestly, I give them one month before Sarawat snaps out of it and finally comes to his senses, dumping this boy’s ass and finding someone who is better suited for him,” says someone in the group, prompting the other two people  to laugh.
At those words, Sarawat, who looks ready to wring some necks and looks angrier than Tine has seen him in a long time, pushes on Tine’s knee to use it as leverage to get up from where he is seated on the stairs neck to Tine. Knowing the other boy is probably going to confront the group, Tine catches his arm before he can get up fully and pulls him back down next to him.
“It’s okay Wat, forget it,” he says when Sarawat turns towards him, fury evident in his eyes.
“It’s not okay Tine,” he answers angrily. “Do you not hear the filth that is coming out of their mouths ?”
“I hear them, I just don’t really care,” Tine reassures him with a shrug of his shoulders, and Sarawat stares at him, probably trying to assess the truth in his words.
“You don’t ?”  His eyes still roaming over his face to gauge his reaction, as if he can’t quite believe what his boyfriend is telling him.
“I really don’t,” Tine says with a smile, before he pulls Sarawat forward to kiss him, feeling Sarawat’s lips turn to a smile against his.
And the thing is, Tine isn’t even lying. He’s annoyed that this group of people made Sarawat go all tense that way and ruined the soft moment they were sharing, but he really doesn’t care one bit about what they think about his relationship, or of him, as a matter of fact.
It’s taken him a while and been quite the journey, but the only opinions he cares about in this situation are Sarawat’s and his. And as much as it surprises even himself… He has all the confidence in the world right now. Confidence in their relationship, as well as confidence in himself.
Because surely, if he is surrounded by people as amazing as his friends, and his boyfriend… Then he figures he has to be pretty amazing himself.
Sarawat pulls away from the kiss and smiles happily towards him. And faced with a smile like this one, Tine thinks that maybe he can take the high road on this one and just ignore the rest of the world.
“Do you think he’s just using Sarawat for his fame ? Like he’s with him because he wants to become popular, and as soon as that happens he’ll leave him ?” they hear one of the voices behind them say, and Sarawat’s smile immediately dims at the words.
But then again, maybe taking the high road is overrated.
He takes Sarawat’s hands in his and squeezes them once, before he lets them go and gets up himself, taking the steps two at a time until he arrives in front of the trio of people that have been talking about him and Sarawat behind their backs for more than 10 minutes now.
“Hello, ladies and gentlemen,” he says with a fake smile, and he has to admit, the pleasure he gets from seeing their faces drop and morph into shock is pretty intense.
“I couldn’t help but overhear you have quite a lot to say about me and my boyfriend. But then again, it’s not like you were really trying to hide it, were you  ?” he asks saccharine, and he sees one of the girls start to pale, while the boy sitting in the middle looks everywhere but at Tine.
“So let me make a couple things clear, yeah ?” he asks, smile still in place. “First, I find it pretty sad that all three of you apparently have nothing better to do than spend your time talking behind our backs, as if you actually knew anything about either of us. Just so we’re clear, I don’t really give a crap what you might think of me, Sarawat, or our relationship. But maybe this would be a good moment to take a good look at your life and reevaluate, don’t you think ?”
He waits a couple seconds to see if either of them will dare say anything, and when the silence persists and he sees one of the girls swallowing nervously, he smiles mockingly towards them.
“The second thing I wanted to say was, you can pine and trash talk all you want. Clearly, it helps make you feel better about your lives and I wouldn’t want to deprive you of that,” he continues, and he sees one of the girls open her mouth to answer back, before she seems to think better of it and closes her mouth again. “You should just be aware that Sarawat will never give you the time of the day. You know why ? Because he loves me. He loves me.”
By now, there is total silence and Tine knows that a few students other than the ones he is talking to can probably hear everything he is saying, but he really doesn’t care what any of them might think right now.
“You are right about one thing though, Sarawat is pretty phenomenal, and I’m far from being perfect. Then again, neither is Sarawat, as you would know if you had ever talked to him in your life. The mouth he can have on him sometimes.... Let’s just say, you’re lucky I’m the one doing the talking right now. So yeah, neither of us are perfect. But Sarawat and I though, we are perfect together. And really, there is nothing you can say or do that will change that fact.” he finishes, and he sees them fidgeting in front of him.
“Now if you don’t mind, I’ll let you go back to your gossiping and I’ll go join my amazing boyfriend. We have a concert to go to, and I know you being the kind hearted people you seem to be, you will understand that I can’t stay for more pleasant chatting. Have a good day !” he says with a wave and one last parting smile, before he turns around, only to find Sarawat looking at him in shock not even a few steps behind him, surely having heard his entire speech.
“Look Sarawat, I didn’t want to make a scene and state things for the both of us, but they were…” he starts to explain as he can hear the three people behind him get up to leave.
Before he has the time to finish his sentence though, Sarawat has made his way up the few steps that were still separating them and he cradles his face to pull him in a deep kiss.
Tine pulls back a minute later, realizing that this isn’t really something they should be doing here, and thinking he should give his heart some time to recover and stop beating so fast before their concert starts.
He looks into Sarawat’s eyes, and he finds the other man looking at him with a huge smile, eyes shining with love and pride radiating from his entire being.
“So you get it now ?” he asks softly, still cradling Tine’s face in both of his hands. “You get that you’re perfect for me just the way you are ?”
Tine’s breath gets taken away by the words, and he doesn’t try to stop his urge to pull his boyfriend closer to himself and hug him tight, his face falling perfectly in his neck while one of Sarawat’s hands finds its way to his hair and starts to caress there.
“Yeah, I think I’m starting to get that,” he ends up saying softly in Sarawat’s neck, and he feels the other boy hug him even closer to his body.
He’s not naïve enough to think that this is the end of his insecurities and that he won’t have moments where he ends up feeling awful again. Right now though, in Sarawat’s arms ?
Right now, all he can think about is that he’s pretty damn lucky to be Tine Teepakorn, and he wouldn’t change anything even if he could.

★~BTS REALITY~★
BTS is holding a special reality series with fans as a celebration of ten years performing. The goal is simple, be the last girl standing and you might win yourself a big ol' prize.
Now who in their right mind would pass up on an opportunity like this? Definitely not you.
Rated: M (it doesn’t seem like it now, but it’ll get there eventually)
Relationship: OT7/Reader
1 | 2 | ?
                           Chapter 2: ★ INTERVIEW★
Unfortunately, the ride was not as long as you had anticipated. As quickly as you had fallen asleep, Mr. Park was shaking you awake moments later telling you you had arrived.
The hotel wasn’t as luxurious you had expected it to be, but it was cozy. Cold air welcomed you as you walked through the doors, the contrast in temperature from outside further waking you up. As you lounge on the comfy lobby couch, Mr. Park was talking to the receptionist, probably getting your room set up for you. You had to make sure to thank him later.
As you slumped into the couch, your mind wandered back to the interview. BigHit hadn’t mentioned any requirements besides the designated day and location within the email. Supposedly you were going to be given the information regarding your specific interview later today, though a specific time of when you weren’t sure. You glanced over at Mr. Park, trying to gauge how things were doing.
He seemed deep in conversation still, though things seemed to be running smoothly. You were too tired to translate what was being said between him and the lobby receptionist, instead, settling on going back to running over tomorrow's plans. Your mind soon begins generating questions that could be asked tomorrow.
Question one, ‘Why do you deserve to be on this show?’
You blanch at the question. How were you supposed to answer this without sounding entitled? On second thought, maybe this wasn’t such a good idea, it was only adding to your stress for tomorrow. So caught up in your thoughts, you don’t notice Mr. Park making his way towards you as you continue trying to come up with an answer to the difficult question.
“Are you ready for room?” Mr. Park asks. You gasp, startled. You shake your head to clear your thoughts, and quickly stand, leaning on your suitcase for support.
“Yes, yes, thank you, Mr. Park,” you respond shakily, still startled by the interruption.
You follow Mr. Park as he leads you to your room silently. You feel tense as you walk behind him, too tired and stressed to make conversation.
When you arrive at the room, Mr. Park turns to you with the key.
“My boss was going come here, but he busy, so he’ll email, okay?” He says, using his hands to enunciate the words.
Taking the offered key card, you bow slightly and unlock your door.
“Yes, I understand, thank you Mr. Park” you respond. Bowing once more, you turn and enter your room, immediately making your way towards the bed. A soft click sounds as the door closes behind you.
Closing your eyes, you sigh. You could feel a headache ebbing its way at your temple from lack of sleep and the toll of a long flight on your body. You turn towards your phone one last time to check your email for any updates; but alas nothing new. Great.
Pulling your shoes off, you plug in your phone and set an alarm for three hours. Hopefully, you could get some sleep for now, and later you would check your email for updates on the interview. You tuck the sheets tightly around you and quickly drift to sleep.
----------
Three hours later the shrill tone of your phone is jolting you awake. Clumsily flinging your hands, you seek your phone on the dresser beside you.
Why was it so hard to shut the damn thing off.
Two minutes and many aggressive taps later, the alarm had quieted. Groggily, you open the email app, clicking your inbox for anything new.
You find BigHit’s email and begin to read through the information. Your interview was at 12:30 pm. You hoped the staff wouldn’t be too tired by then, especially with having to go through the same interviews over and over again. Luckily for you, though, this gave you enough time to wake up at a comfortable time and choose a nice outfit for the day, worry-free. You hum, content with the information given. You continue to read down the email but stop short when your eyes hit the next line.
Though it is not guaranteed, the seven men of BigHit’s BTS may decide to make an appearance during the interview process, in which we ask that you kindly pay them no mind and carry on answering our questions.
In an instant, your mind was reeling at this unexpected statement. Your palms grew sweaty and you could feel your heartbeat pick up pace.
How could they just drop this on you and not expect you to freak out?
Sure you wanted to meet the guys, it was the dream of a lifetime, but how were you expected to sit there and answer questions normally with seven international idols watching you?
“Ugh” you cringed inwardly, slapping your hands onto your face. This added pressure was not what you needed right now.
You slowly unravel yourself from the sheets and walk your way towards the bathroom. At that moment a hot shower sounded like the perfect way to clear your head.
Except now here you were, naked and burning in scalding water, still freaking out over the fact BTS could decide to make an appearance during your interview. How you were going to manage a full night of sleep with this knowledge was beyond you.
After you’re sure your skin has peeled off from the sheer temperature of your shower alone, you step out, grabbing the fluffy hotel towel closest to you.
Drying yourself off, you sift through your luggage for your pajamas before making your way back back to the bed. Despite the three hour nap you had taken, you were still tired, though you weren’t sure you’d be getting much sleep now with your mind still overwhelmed with thoughts of what may happen tomorrow.
Sighing to yourself, you reach over and shut the lights off. Whatever happens tomorrow is out of your control now, no use losing sleep over it. You close your eyes to the darkness and allow yourself to fall back into sleep.
------------
You were running late.
Waking up at 10, despite getting more than enough sleep, was not a part of the plan. You had only woken up when room service came knocking at your door, in which you leaped out of bed when realizing the time. Now you only had 2 hours to pick an outfit, do your makeup, and make it to the interview on time.
Rummaging through your clothing, you begin throwing clothes into piles around you. Finding an outfit was proving to be difficult and your time was running out.
Finally, you settled on wearing a short floral summer dress, it was a flush pink that made you feel cute. You weren’t fully comfortable wearing dresses casually, but this one was easy to wear and could easily match with a plain pair of sandals.
Running to the bathroom you check the time, 10:45 am, you were going to have to leave your hair natural. You quickly apply your makeup, opting for a more natural look since you were already running behind.
Finally finished, you make your way through the room, grabbing your wallet, phone, and charger for your trip out. As you pass your room mirror your attention shifts towards your reflection and you pause, taking yourself in.
You squint at the details of your face and body staring back at you. Admittedly, you looked cute, you wouldn’t deny that, but thinking of the other girls applying today you most likely were nothing special. Who knew what the other applicants looked like, either way, ugly or pretty, you were going to have to do more than look good to get noticed by BigHit. Shaking your head, you carry on, now was not the time to dwell deeply on these thoughts.
As you leave the room, you close the door behind you, jogging lightly to the elevator down the hall. You hadn’t seen anything about transportation in the email, so you had assumed you were going to have to call a taxi to get to your appointment.
Stepping into the elevator, you press the lobby button hurriedly. You tapped your foot with impatience as the machine glided down to your destination.
The elevator jerks to a stop and you hop out the elevator quickly. Checking your phone once again the time flashes on the screen, 11:45 a.m. Shit.
Looking outside, you spot a couple of cars lined up in the front driveway of the hotel drop off area. Hoping for the best you, speed walk out of the building, heading straight towards the cars. As you approach them you wave to one of the cars hoping it is a taxi.
The man in the front of the car gives you a slight nod and it’s all you need to wrangle the door open the moment your hand hits the handle. Jumping into the back you collect your purse near you and tell the driver the address.
“5 30-gil, Hakdong-ro, Floor Yangjin Plaza 5F, I’m heading to Bighit headquarters” you yelp out.
Though he says nothing, you assume he heard you as he begins driving wordlessly. The adrenaline is still coursing through you and you can feel your hands trembling slightly in your lap.
Looking through your phone camera, you check your makeup and hair in hopes of distracting yourself from your nerves and making sure nothing was ruined in the rush. Taking a deep breath does nothing to stop the trembling of your hands.
You notice the city passing by and you stare in amazement. You had always dreamt of traveling to Korea and exploring its many cities, though you couldn’t do much exploring now. Maybe you could try checking out shops in the area after the interview, and if worse came to worst, and you weren’t chosen for the show, you could always travel through Korea with the time you had left here.
You feel the car come to a stop, the tall glass building in front of you indicating you had arrived. Quickly paying the driver, you make your way towards the leering building.
After stepping through the sliding doors, you look around lost before making a beeline to the front desk. You were nervous, unsure of what to do now that you were here.
“Hello,” you start nervously, placing your warm hands on the desk, “I’m here for my interview at 12:30” One of the receptionists eyes you suspiciously and you begin to fidget nervously.
“Name?” she asks, turning back towards her computer.
“Um, (y/n) (l/n), it’s the interview for the BTS show” you answer.
She types in what you’re assuming is the information you just gave her, before printing a piece of paper and making her way around the desk separating the two of you.
“If you’d follow me please.” She hands you the paper, which you read has your name and interview details, and begins walking towards the elevators down the hall. Jogging lightly to keep up with the receptionist's long strides, you make sure to stay close behind her, not wanting to get lost.
By the time you reach the interview room (on the 3rd floor as you had made sure to remember), you are already sweating from the effort of trying to keep up with the receptionist. The woman had long legs.
“You can take a seat here until they call you in.” The receptionist points to a chair outside of the doorway.
You nod in acknowledgment and place yourself down into the chair, “Thank you.”
With a curt smile, she bows quickly and exits swiftly, most likely returning to the front desk you had first approached her at.
As you sit and wait, curiosity gnaws its way into your mind. You couldn’t help but wonder who was in the room and what they were talking about.
Just as you begin moving your ear towards the said room, the door slams open, causing you to jump back in fear. People begin exiting the room and you try to straighten yourself as though you hadn’t almost just been caught eavesdropping.
Looking up, your breath stutters as you catch sight of the most gorgeous girl you have ever laid eyes on. She was tall and pale, her skin practically poreless. Despite her baggy sweater, you could make out her curves as she sashayed her way out of the room. Her hair was long and glossy, the black color complimenting her pale skin. You realize your staring and hurriedly turn away towards the nearby wall.
You can hear her laughing before she says something in Korean, something you can’t quite catch. But soon after a second voice is responding. A deep and very familiar voice. One you’re sure you’ve heard before. Swiveling your head back to the beautiful stranger your jaw drops at the scene before you.
Not only is this woman gorgeous, but she’s having a very amusing conversation with the seven other boys of Bangtan. A gasp escapes you involuntarily and you turn your head away once again, you didn’t want them to notice you.
Before you can delve further into the situation you had just witnessed, a woman calls your name from the room.
“(y/n) (l/n), if you could please enter, it’s time for your interview.”
The chair squeaks as you stand up and briskly make your way into the room.
There are 4 people inside seated at a long table. In front of the table is a single chair illuminated by a studio light. It reminded you of picture days back when you were younger.
Each person at the table has papers in front of them in what you assume is a script of the questions as they wait for your arrival.
You gulp nervously before walking in the direction of the woman who had called your name. She leads you to the center chair before walking away, leaving you alone, and feeling vulnerable.
You want to close your eyes and think, some time to calm your raging nerves. If you were going to get through this, you had to act confident, even if you didn’t feel it.
You straighten your posture, pushing your shoulders back, head up, and turn your eyes straight, looking directly at the group in front of you. You were going to get through this.
A cough escapes a man on the far right of the table, catching your attention. He looks to be around late-40’s maybe older, with salt and pepper hair and slight wrinkles around his eyes. He smiles as you face him.
“Hello (y/n), welcome to your interview for BTS Reality,” he starts with a warm tone, “I hope your stay has been comfortable so far. Now if we may, we’d like to start by asking you some questions.”
You nod in response and make sure to smile. “Of course.”
“Okay great!” He exclaims happily, “For starters, my name is Bang Si-Hyuk, next to me is Lenzo Yoon, Tae-Sung Jeong, and Kim U-taek.” Looking down the line, you give each man a nod and return your gaze to Bang Si-Hyuk. “So (y/n), tell me, do you have any hobbies?”
You still, surprised at the question. It was much simpler than what you had initially expected, putting you at slight ease. Quickly regaining your composure, you wring your hands together and let out a nervous giggle.
“Well,” you start, “I enjoy a bit of everything, I wouldn’t say there’s one particular thing that I have a strong passion for. It’s always been kind of an issue of mine, my inability to stick to one thing.” laughing at yourself, you begin speaking more comfortably, “But when I’m home I enjoy baking and cooking new foods, I also don’t mind trying to sew new things, though most of the time it doesn’t work out. At the end of the day, I’m just someone who tries everything and hopes to have fun doing it.” You finish your answer happily, momentarily forgetting the men sitting in front of you.
All the men seem slightly intrigued at your answer, the one on the far left, Kim U-taek, speaking next.
“You said you like adventure? Could you please elaborate for me (y/n).” Crossing your legs, you smooth your dress.
“Of course,” you respond lightly, “I will admit, I enjoy doing things that are out of my comfort zone. Things such as zip-lining and tubing are things I always love. But I can be hesitant at times before getting on scary roller coasters.” At this, you hear some of the men chuckle. Smiling yourself, you continue. “You could say I love a challenge, overcoming something I didn’t think I could, and something that many others couldn’t. It’s the competitive nature in me, I have to win.”
The four nod impressed, and scribble into their papers, you wanted desperately to know what they were writing. Did you do good?
Bang Si-Hyuk’s voice interrupts your mental questions suddenly with one of his own.
“What are your plans for the future?”
“Oh!” you exclaim happily. Your future is something you loved to think about often, so answering this question was no issue. “Right now I’m in my third year of university, but I hope to one day graduate medical school and become a pediatrician.”
The man in the middle of the table, who you think is Lenzo Yoon, interrupts you, “That’s refreshing to hear, most people so far have said they wanted to be singers or dancers, I was beginning to worry.” He finishes with a hearty laugh.
“I can imagine many people feel a sense of opportunity saying that here,” you respond politely. You couldn’t blame those who had tried putting their name out there, it was hard nowadays to make it big in the entertainment industry.
“Yes, well, please,” Lenzo Yoon waves his hand in a circular motion, “continue.”
“Well, I’ve always had a soft spot for children, often contemplating whether being a teacher or nanny would be better suited for me. I eventually settled on becoming a pediatrician because I felt in that position I can truly help children’s needs,” you answer. “I’ve often been referred to as the mother of the group since people have always thought I act mature for my age.”
“I see, so you’d say you act mature for your age? I see here it says you’re 21, much younger than all of the band members.” Bang Si-Hyuk states. It was true, the oldest being almost 10 years older than you.
“Yes, I’ve been told countless times I am very mature for my age.” you speedily affirm.
The men return to writing their findings onto paper while you sit and wait for them to finish. Once all men place their pens down, they stand obliging you to do the same. Walking over to you, Bang Si-Hyuk holds his arm out for you to shake.
“Thank you for today (y/n), we will make sure to get back to you by tomorrow with our results. Best of luck, I hope to see you again.” Firmly grasping, you excitedly shake his hand. You make sure to bow to him and the other three men once more before exiting the room.
On your way out, your mind wanders back to the encounter you had earlier with the girl and BTS. You weren’t necessarily jealous, but you felt, for lack of a better word, strange. Not because she had been talking to them, but because you knew they were here, yet they hadn’t made an appearance at your interview.
Instantly you scold yourself for even feeling bad over something like that as if they didn’t have other things to do besides listening to people answer questions about themselves. They were busy people, they probably had practice to go to and only had time for one interview today. You felt the guilt settling in as you entered the elevator to return to the first floor.
Exiting the elevator, you walk towards the entrance of the building, making sure to wave bye to the receptionist who had helped you earlier. The gust of fresh air is refreshing when you leave, it has the cooling effect you need after the stress you endured this morning. Although you wanted nothing more than to return to your hotel, snuggle up in your comfy bed and watch T.V., you were starving.
You were going to have to grab some food to go before you could think about laying down and relaxing. You retrieve your phone from your purse and type in a search for food nearby. You felt like walking and getting some fresh air.
By the time you arrive at the restaurant, your stomach is rumbling, the interview and walk had taken a number on you. A bell rings above you, alerting the staff of your arrival.
“Hello!” a young voice greets you in Korean. “How can we help you?” A teenage girl, likely still in high school, stands before you.
“Hello,” you return the greeting in Korean, “I was hoping to order food to go.” She nods and hands you a menu to look over.
“Sure, here’s a menu, let me know when you’re ready to order.” You nod in response, already distracted by the food presented to you on the menu.
Once you’re ready you call over the girl and relay your order. After taking your order, she goes on serving other customers, leaving you alone.
As you stand and wait for your food, a familiar laugh catches your attention. It sounded exactly like the girl from the interview, though you weren’t completely sure. The laughter continues and your resolve of not going over and investigating slowly begins to crumble. Hesitantly, you make your way towards the source, leading you farther back into the restaurant.
You approach what seems to be a doorway leading deeper into the restaurant. Looking around you, you make sure no one notices what you’re doing.
You had some time before your order was ready, and if anyone asked, you were looking for the bathroom.
Swiftly shoving yourself through the doorway, you’re met with the sight of two or three doors, all leading to rooms where you can see tables made for groups of people to eat at. You look over to your right, the only occupied room and practically jump back in shock.
There, in all her glory, was the beautiful girl from earlier eating with none other than BTS.
