ONEWE Deep Dive: Day6's Rock Ballad Cousin

ONEWE is classified as an alt-rock band, and debuted in 2015, as part of the 3rd generation. They have five members: vocalist Yonghoon, rapper and bassist Giuk (a.k.a. CyA), guitarist Kanghyun, keyboardist Dongmyeong, and drummer Harin. 

Here are my credentials: This is (I think) the 4th full band I’ve covered on this blog, after The Rose, Lucy, and Rolling Quartz, but to be honest, besides that and the fact that they’re having a comeback today, I don’t know much about ONEWE. But I’m hoping to change that. So, let’s get into it!

HARIN:"What made me write this song was when you are filled with too many emotions because you miss someone, could be a family member or a friend, this too much emotion you get when meeting with these people for the first time in a long time made me write the lyrics first, i tried writing it with the feeling of 'i'm glad to see you again! I've waited for so long!'"

GIUK:" "Nice to meet you again, Pleasant" is written by HARIN. I believe he was thinking about WEVE when he made it.So I also wrote my part thinking about WEVE."

YONGHOON: "Affectionate and sentimental band song where someone who's supposed to forget his partnerpromises that he'll forget about her, telling her goodbye, but then,he just couldn't forget about her, so once again, he looks for her again. While writing this album, I've been obsessed with the lyrics. I was thinking long and hard about how to make the lyrics not sound so sad, yet not too bright either. I thought about how to make it sound vaguely sad. Aside from that, I also thought hard about the best melody and voice that I can pour."

Giuk: "I wanted the hook to sound kind of dusty and dreamy as well, so I tried to sing in that vibe. So I even intentionally shook my voice so much while recording. I think I tried to sound kind of hazy while recording"

This is definitely an official part of the fanchant. Absolutely. I expect to hear it at their upcoming O! NEW! Evolution concert.

YH, drama queen, decided to make everyone coo over their formation story one more time, and then told the members thank you for choosing him back then :')

On a lighter note, apparently hyungu spent his time in the military collecting fanboys. I get it, unnamed officer of the 55th division who messaged the radio station just to support kanghyun. I get it.

Also, Hyungu sang. It went as expected. I love him still.

This post is a hot mess timeline-wise, but going back to their livestream from this morning (well, my morning, their evening).
