1984, is the first time Neil Gaiman released a book. 

In 1985, he got married and started his career as a comic book writer and in 1986, he assaulted Julia Hobsbawm.

This took place in Chalk Farm, London, where he forcibly kissed her and shoved her down on the sofa at her own studio flat before she escaped. According to The Crown Prosecution Service, “sexual assault is where one person intentionally touches another person sexually without their consent. The touching can be done with any part of the body or with an object.” In her own words, she described it as “an aggressive, unwanted pass” and that she still remembers it even now. 

Through 1987 and 2002 he progressed his career and published the famous book Coraline. A new year happens and he is in his early-forties and is thriving off of the success of his several money-making works, at a book signing event in Sarasota, Florida. There he hits it off with a young 18 year old (K) and they start dating. Two years later, in 2005, with two more awards under his belt, he forcibly penetrated that young twenty year old who told him not to because of a painful infection.

After another two years, he and his first wife divorced.

It's 2012, five years later and one year into a new marriage and at another book signing, Neil, age 52, immediately assaulted Claire (pseudonym) with a non-consensual kiss. Throughout keeping contact Neil had escalated this with video and phone calls that had a heavy sexual connotation where he appeared to either be naked or tried to instigate something. All of this accumulated into sexually assaulting her on a tour bus. Neil’s contact with her lasted until 2014 where he had promptly accused her in a text message that she had used him for sex.

Within the same year, Neil had enough money to buy a property, and met Caroline Wallner, 55, and her at-the time current husband. With a deal to do odd jobs for Neil and his wife to live there until she could own a five-acre plot, it wasn’t long before things turned sour. A divorce in 2017 sent everything spiraling, with her former husband fired, she in a once financially stable position, was now completely dependent on Neil Gaiman who used that to his advantage. Using her lack of financial stability to get himself sexual favors, he coerced her into a sexual-only, notably uninformed BDSM-entering territory while she was emotionally vulnerable, not accepting denials. This lasted until the summer of 2021, and in December of that year she and him went to court, what awaited her was $275k of compensation and a non-disclosure agreement (nda).

It wouldn’t take long for another woman to experience Neil Gaiman’s repeated offenses as well because in February of 2022, Scarlett (a pseudonym), age 23, a newly hired nanny, was sexually assaulted in the bathtub at his house. Neil, age 61, climbed into the bathtub with her and coerced her into having sexual relations. He too, in his coercion of her, made her financially dependent on him and brought BDSM elements to an inexperienced young woman who could not say no.

Since July 3rd of this year, 2024, five women have come out with sexual assault allegations aimed at Neil Gaiman. They all have several things in common with each other: either being young and naive, a fan of his, or put in a vulnerable spot financially or emotionally. Throughout the years and according to the stories, Neil progressively gets more bold and aggressive in his attempts for sexual gain. There are many more stories out there and whispers on the internet of how predatory Neil Gaiman has been in the industry. However, focusing on the five women who came out to speak and pushing their voice is an important part of the discussion.

It looks like there are only 6 personality choices? Based on their little quirks and whatnot, I think you should make Golden Cheese "Kind" and Burning Spice either "Energetic" or "Stubborn". All the "kind" abilities sound like things Golden Cheese would do" particularly "donate" (giving things to other Miis if they need something but don't have it) and "cover" (she would totally go out of her way to protect a Mii with low health, look how far she went to help her dead citizens lol). It's a little tougher for Spice because I think the quirks for both personalities suit him well (esp Hang On and Charge for Energetic + Again and Bluff for Stubborn. Refusing ally help is very Burning Spice core lol). But either Energetic or Stubborn for sure

collected some stats on the man from uncle books vs novellas because i love numbers

final stats are here but theres breakdowns by book under the cut!

i think its a little bit funny how much higher the numbers in the novellas are despite them being, for the most part, shorter than the books. congratulations to napoleon for coming out on top (or tied for) of most of these categories in both the books and novellas. commiserations to illya for being UNCLE's most holey agent.

(here's the raw numbers in case the graph is hard to read) (also, it gets long under the cut because i do love to yap. consider this a warning)

i will, for clarity's sake, mention that it has been a while since i've read the books. my criteria may have changed without me noticing, but my base definition for 'capture' was "unwillingly taken to somewhere they should not be able to escape from", including when they get bundled into cars if the car starts moving. i also only recounted recaptures after escape attempts if they managed to leave wherever they were being held.

also, this was REAL close in terms of the novellas until the last couple. proud of illya for his shockingly good average of 1 capture per book though! this is also the category which, when showed to my friends, prompted the statement "man, these guys suck at their jobs!" multiple times from different people. yeah. yeah they kind of do

this one is also specifically times drugged "on-screen", and doesn't include antidotes. it does however include one instance of illya shoving some kind of capsule in napoleons mouth because napoleon is completely unwilling to take it and also bites illya in the process (mainly because i thought it was funny). tear gas wasn't counted but nerve gas was.

some of these drugs are just your standard knockout/truth drugs but i will say. THRUSH loves a bit of variety.

i did count getting shot via darts in this category, and i have a sneaking suspicion i did count illya getting hit by an energy cannon at some point in the books. he may have also gotten shot more than twice in the hungry world affair:

"He wondered how many bullets had picked at him. Time enough later to count the leaks."

but because only two shots were detailed on the page that's what i counted.

this is the one that shows the biggest difference in the novellas vs the books to me. the books are always careful to keep one agent safe and whole while the novellas will just kick both of them down and make them keep going. shoutout to the multiple novellas that end with one or both of them a) in hospital, b) slathered in bandages or c) not quite escaped yet.

further evidence that the novellas treat them much more harshly! i do admit i had a pretty loose definition of torture so if anyone else takes stats these may contradict, but i think i was pretty consistent within my own criteria.

man i really enjoyed reading these. if i have the time and the willpower to do this again, i might record a couple of different categories like times knocked out, injured and stabbed because i think those will be interesting.

a couple of additional thoughts:

illya normally suffers much more in both the books and novellas when he gets shot/captured compared to napoleon (more severe injuries, worse treatment etc). napoleon solo main character syndrome endures.

april dancer and mark slate show up in the novellas quite a few times! i wonder if their appearances coincide with the matching girl from uncle novella series, considering how they mention specific affairs a few times

every time they mention how much napoleon spends on shoes i die a little bit inside.

there's exactly one book which gets a perfect 0 score and that's the utopia affair. whether this is a positive or a negative i am unsure

these guys think each other are dead so often. at one point, they get into a car crash and napoleon just kind of. assumes that illya is dead and walks away, which causes about 95% of the problems for the rest of the novella

these guys are terrible at their jobs. how they are the top two UNCLE agents i have no idea. i would hate to see what a mediocre agents stats would look like.

The set up premise might be.. different? so ignore if inspiration doesn't tickle ur scrote but I am a person who eats spicy food on a daily basis and if it's painful enough it can look like a damn sexual experience(panting, sweating, flushed face, gr/moaning(in pain), whines, milk spills, the works). I can see bay Mikey doing some kind of prank or dare without knowing what would stir within until suddenly ur being dragged off to his bedroom trading one heat for another-

I'd hoped this was just about blurbish length and that I make sense ;-; (I am so nervous about sending request asks in I am ill)

It takes exactly three wings for you to realize that you’ve made a mistake. You pause when the heat hits your tongue, and that is another mistake. You swallow without tasting anything and look at Mikey’s expectant face with a shaky smile. “No problem!” You give him a thumbs up, hoping he’ll ignore the increasing redness you can feel in your face.

When Mikey came to you, begging to recreate those videos he was obsessed with where people eat progressively spicier food, you knew this would happen. You knew. But one look into those tearful puppy dog eyes and you folded faster than wet cardboard. Now you (and your relatively low spice tolerance) find yourself wishing that you weren’t head over heels for him.

“Yes!” Mikey cheers with his hands in the air, and all the pain you are about to endure is immediately worth it. Damn him. You look back down at the remainder of the wing in your hand and both dread and determination run through your veins. Well, mama didn’t raise no quitter. You bring the little bomb to your mouth and eat the rest of it, trying and failing to keep the sauce off your lips. Shit.

You nibble on some bread to help with the heat, saving the milk for later when you’re truly suffering. Your fingers tap along to the beat of the music Mikey put on as you look for the next spicy little enemy. Instead of offering you the next saucy wing, Mikey is staring. At your lips, specifically. You touch them hesitantly. They feel a little inflamed but dry. “Did I miss some sauce or something?” Mikey shakes his head with an unusually (even for him) loud “No! You’re fine.” You shrug and reach for the wing he offers you.

Sweat forms on your brow before the heat hits, and you brace yourself just in time. A breathy “oh” leaves your parted lips as the heat rolls through your mouth like thunder. You give in and reach for the milk as the heat crests, gulping a little too quickly and spilling some. When the teasing you expect from your best friend doesn’t manifest, you try to contain your panting and look up to find him once again staring at your mouth. “Okay, I know what’s up with me, but what’s up with you?” You reach up and swipe at the line of milk dribbling down your chin with your thumb, and Mikey visibly swallows.

“N-nothing, angel. Just wondering if you’re still up for this. You look… heated.” You groan loudly at what you assume is a very bad pun, holding out your hand for the next torture device. The heat in your mouth is now at an alarmingly high steady burn, but you are trying to ignore that in favor of getting through this ordeal.

“Hit me, Michelangelo.” He mutters something under his breath that you can’t hear over the music, and you study him as he hands you the next wing. He is twitchy, eyes dark as he watches your fingers wrap around the meat. Wondering why Mikey is acting so weird is a good distraction from the pain in your mouth, so you continue to observe him as you raise the fifth wing to your mouth.

It seems almost like Mikey is the one on the spot, you muse as you chew, with the way he can’t sit still. He’s looking everywhere except at you now, fingers tapping agitatedly on the can of Orange Crush in between his hands on the table. Then the heat hits you like a brick wall, and there is no room in your head for anything except the stinging pain. Tears fill your eyes as you whimper.

Mikey’s chair scraping across the floor startles you as you chug some milk, and you spill some again. Your whimper turns into a groan as more milk dribbles down your chin. How embarrassing. The milk pools in your hand as you try in vain to keep it from getting everywhere.

“Okay, that’s it!”

Before you can process what’s happening beyond the fire raging in your mouth, Mikey rounds the table and picks you up. You stutter his name, hands flailing, beyond bewildered. He ignores you and beelines for his room, squeezing you firmly against his plastron.The door closes with an ominous snick, and you brace yourself, still panting from the heat of the wings. The tension leaves you though, as Mikey tosses you on the bed and shows you exactly why he was acting so weird. Oh. Ohhhhh. OH.

Can I paint y'all a picture please. So I'm in Seattle right now on a #vacation and I decided to go out to Mt Rainier for a lil day trip because I need to touch grass. So I signed up for one of those excursions and it was me and four other people in the group. We'd just finished our first foray out on the mountain and we were settling in the visitor center for lunch so I was like yeah okay let me take off my jacket so it'll dry. Imagine my surprise when the only other girlie in the group saw my Terrible Influence Tour shirt and fucking immediately clocked me. She was like 'oh where did you see TIT? I saw it in NJ' and can you imagine that of ALL the people to meet on a day trip to a mountain, I was there with another Phannie. Of COURSE the icing on the cake was when we both got YT notifications at the same time because DnP chose today to upload a video
