A new trend of evolution started to appear in the city from the 1980s onwards. A major factor in development activities in Punjab has been the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Agency. Now, the Development Authority of the Greater Mohali Area (GMADA) has adopted the manger of development and started with GMADA aerotropolismohali plots.

Land will be purchased in ChauMajra, SainiMajra, Patton, Manauli, Siaun, and Matran in the district of Mohali during the first phase of the Aerocity Project.
In accordance with Section 19 of the Land Acquisition Act, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) released notifications for its seventh independent city, the Aerotropolis, which extends the USP to its proximity to the International Airport of Chandigarh to the tune of seventh independent city.
The GMADA aerotropolismohali plots project covers 5,400 hectares.
The sum to be assessed as compensation is referred to in Section 19 of the Act.
GMADA has also previously provided the notification of the acquisition of land under section 11 of the Act which calls upon owners to object.
The municipality will have both residential and commercial areas and will take the Zirakpur-Banur road on both sides.
