one of the most fucked up things w/ retrospect from hylics 1 to hylics 2 is how pongorma doesn’t seem angry at who put him in the vault. There’s no indication in the current duology that he’s ever gotten angry about the time he lost from that vault, or even the people he perhaps lost as well. He’s been alive since the Sage’s times and interacted with them enough to learn some of their gestures, but why does he remain so blank on emotions towards that situation? Why does he join Wayne’s crew without a second thought or even really a cursory glance? What kind of values were instilled within him to produce someone so steadfast in his fighting ways and yet he neglects to spit upon the name of whoever key him under lock and key for eons?

Does he even want to remember? Or can he not at all? Was he trapped before or after the accretion?

share some hylics headcanons perchance?

HIHELLO yes of course i can share some headcanons! will try to share just a few random ones sorry if some are repeats of ones i have talked about in the past my memory is soup lol

one that i don't really remember if i have talked about is with Blerol and Fleam! i hc that Fleam is Blerol's child and that Fleam grew up wanting to be a guard so that's why they have like armor and stuff! Blerol is probably super supportive of them and is like "hellyeah lemme get you some armor and stuff have fun and stay safe" fkdhdksh also i feel like Fleam would really look up to Pongorma as a major inspiration because of that!!

genuinely don't remember if i ever talked about this, but have some silly hcs for what the main four were up to between h1 and h2! for Wayne i feel like they would have spent some time still at their H1 house afterwards to just kinda recover and process over everything that happened with Gibby and the moon, but i feel like after some time either be would have decided to move back to Waynehouse (hc that he moved away years before H1) either on his own or from Old Wayne flat out offering and leading up to H2 he mainly just hung out there and possibly helped the other Waynes with training and with raising the Wayne Larvae! for Dedusmuln i feel like they would have continued their studies after spending a little time at Wayne's (probably a week) recovering and would eventually start traveling with Smuldunde more! Smul would probably show them new locations to excavate and explore while also giving them access to some of their studies so that they can further their own studies! this leads into how you encounter them on H2! with Somsnosa i feel like besides them running their juice ranch, some time before that (as further detailed with The Way Back Home from Absent Moon) she would begin searching for the call that is mentioned with the song, but after a long while she would begin to struggle and decide to stop for the time being (after H2 thought she would become even more motivated to resume this search). she would then begin his juice ranching! for pongorma i feel like he would do a lot of traveling since it had been years since he was released from the vault. feel like he would tag along with dedusmuln in a lot of their travels! since i hc that Smul lives in New Muldul, i think the Dedus would eventually bring Pongo there to both see it but to also meet Smul and from there he would decide that he'd like to reside there!!

also here is a Drac one because oufjdhdhdjdhsjhdjsbs already have talked about Drac and Old Wayne as a ship in the past and still do but i think like yeah even if that isn't canon i still think that Drac was still some sort of parental figure for H1 Wayne (and H2 Wayne if you think it's the same Wayne from H1)! i feel like if Drac knew Old Wayne (regardless if just friends or more), he would help with watching over and raising the Waynes. if the two didn't meet though, i still feel like Drac would still somehow meet Wayne if he was out on his own, and maybe Wayne would just tag along with Drac in his travels and Drac would just sorta start watching over and protecting Wayne! also then links to my hc for the act screens being dreams with Drac trying to reach out to Wayne about Gibby and everything

They're all still around, but they're the ambulant skulls- they got transformed from dread knights post-accretion and it just stuck. Only reason pongormas still himself is because he got stuck in the vault

I HADNT THOUGHT OF PAST DREADKNIGHTS BEING THE AMBULANT SKULLS thats a really really neat idea. i had just thought of them as being separate entities Made By or at least harnessed by the dreadknights.

as for the only reason pongorma being the last dreadknight is because of her time in the vault HARD AGREEEEEEEE!!!!!

pongorma to me has masculine titles but shes on of them she/hers. old old powerful lady whos constantly monologuing about the good ol days

Okay I've finally listened to at least one cover of each oingo boingo song and have determined what I think would be each one of the Waynecrew's favorites!

Wayne's fave is Just Another Day.. highly influenced by this lines "And just when I think/That things are in their place,/The heavens are secure,/The whole thing explodes in my face!" And also just talking of general madness.. there's a lot of talking of people being mad in mundane shit in Oingo Boingo songs which makes it so so easy for me to link it hylics heheh...

Somsnosa's fave is Insects because :) she do be hurting those insects while she dance. (But the song Mary makes me think of her most. If I further develop hcs for Soms they'll probably be at least a bit influenced by Mary)

Dedusmuln's is Reptiles and Samurai, one because of the internal mental health things I hc they find interesting, and two because Samurai would be something an anthropologist finds interesting probably!

Pongorma's fave Same Man I Was Before, because it reminds him of how the being in the vault and reflecting on his actions and morals made her majorly grow and change as a person :) and makes her think of his journey with the crew.

On top of that I want to add Home Again makes me think of Somsnosa and Wayne, and Where Do All My Friends Go makes me think of the whole crew.. especially in the gap between the two games, and then also when Wayne leaves.

Also! Like I said in a prev post 6/9 songs on Boi-Ngo makes me think of the crew too.. it just feels weird saying "Ah yes this oingo boingo album is hylics yaoi/yuri to me"

Okay okay, mine are mostly amalgamations from other people's hcs I've seen and I haven't pieced them all together cleanly so just saying that first!

Firstly I'm a he/she bigender Pongorma truther <3

Then, mostly because I adore the way Gloopdimension draws her, I imagine her as so large and big and strong, like a big ol bear in both senses hehehe...

Speaking of the bear thing, in my head Gorma is like a mix of bear, lynx, and goat... goat mostly just to give her horns.. she also bleats like one sometimes when shes upset... Lynx because I'm a fucking furry because I like making big scary characters look like something "cute." And because I'm a big fan of this one piece of fan art I can't remember by who rn that draws him essentially like that.. also to make her able to hissss

He USED to have big scary horns but in the battle that got him ultimately sent into the vault the sages went like "suffer bitch" and cursed his horns not to grow back

Why was he against the sages? Because I think the Dread Knights worked for the moon kingdom (either gibby or his predecessors I don't have that sorted out yet) I think the rest of the dread knights got their asses kicked in that battle, and when gorma went back to his boss they put his ass in the vault for failing them. (This hc is largely inspired by a specific ao3 fic series I read a little bit ago)

Continuing with ideas I got bc of that fic, I think the afterlife wasn't a thing before Gorma went into the vault, but whatever caused it to exist happened while he was in there (big surprise to her when she died while in the vault but ended up back in the fucking building again)

I'm also a very big fan of the hc that he really wanted babies but never could before she got locked away for the 1000 or whatever years

I also share a lot of smaller sillier hcs with Gloopdimension because I'm stealing the energy they use to think of things about him... I might add more to this later in the rbs
