The Technology We Have Already

Today I want to talk about one Solarpunk-thingie, that kinda annoys me - and has to do with a lot with how real-life politians deal with talking about technology and especially energy technologies.

And this is the following fact:

We already have the technology! This is not some SciFi shit!

See, the issue within the politics tends to be, that a lot of folks go: "Oh, yeah, we would LOVE to go renewable. But right it is not possible! Once the technology gets there, we will totally go 100% renewable!"

And basically a lot of Solarpunks online are also waiting for the technology to get there. Again, there is sadly a big group of folks who technically love the aesthetics of Solarpunk and also generally the idea of a Solarpunk future, but do not engage with it over it. And they usually will also wait for technology to get there.

But it already is.

Let me talk about it.

We can produce enough renewable energy

In a way I get it. If you are not working in any fields related to this - and do not follow science news - you might just not know how fast the renewable energy field is moving right now. 10 years ago, yes, a lot of countries would have been able to go 100% renewable, but not all. It depended basically on the climate and environment. Partly because the photovoltaic (what most people call solar, but us engineers use solar for something a bit different) cells were just not as efficient in certain climates. And while the mix of wind and hydro power could do A LOT for many countries, it could not for all.

However, that was mainly before China really pulled all the stops for their research. No, it is not only China, but holy shit, China's research in terms of photovoltaic is insane. If you follow this, you basically will see a new breakthrough - often from China - every couple months. And by now, the efficiency of photovoltaic is insane. Sure, it might not make sense as the only source of energy in places were you basically do not get any sunlight for half the year, but outside of that? It is so darn good.

Other than that, we are really darn good with wind energy (which to my opinion is still the best way of producing energy) and hydro energy.

Don't get me wrong: We can totally improve those things further and further. But we can absolutely power the world on renewables right now. We do not need fossile fuels right now!

We can build climate-friendly transport!

I will remind y'all once more: Electric cars are definitely better than gas powered cars, for those people and situations in which cars are needed. (Read: For emergency services, certain forms of service work who need to transport stuff outside of the rail network, and probably also some people who live very isolated for certain reasons.) However, they are still cars and suck for this reason, if you do not REALLY need them.

Still, we are fucking good by now in building electric cars and for those scenarios where they are needed. Heck, by now in my city pretty much all public transport runs electric, including the busses. And no, they are not tram busses.

And yeah, turns out, we figured out how to build railways more than 200 years ago, and we figured out how to electricize them in 1881. Yes. 1881. 18 in the front. Almost 150 years ago. Sure, back then we were not that good with it, but we managed to build one for intracity transport that worked - and worked for long.

Yes, admittedly, there are some forms of transport that right now we might indeed need fossil fuels for. Right now, we have no method to fly planes and helicopters in a way that is both mass-producable and renewable. And the same is with transcontinental transport via the ocean.

Yeah, sure. We can technically just go fully low tech and just sail. That works. Heck, while it is about half as quick as modern ways to transport over the ocean, it is feasible. However, we just cannot move the amounts of cargo we might need to move with sailing. There are people figuring this out (partly through creating much better sails that work for MUCH BIGGER ships) but yeah, we are not there yet.

Still, a) a lot of the intercontinental stuff we technically do not need to transport (most of it is using cheap quasi-slave labor to save money), and b) that should not stop us from just doing sustainable on-land transport which we can do.

We also know how to build a better society

Now, a lot of the folks going for the Solarpunk aesthetics rather than philosophy are quite often very mistrustful of both anarchism and communism - or heck, just socialism. They often have drunken the capitalist cool-aid of capitalism being the "only system that works". But here is the thing: It doesn't.

Sure, there are versions of capitalism that would work a whole lot better than the Chicago-flavored one, but it will never really work - especially in regards to saving the environment. I talked about that a lot before.

But here is the thing. We know how it works better. We know how to build a better society. We know how to make economics work better. We know how to make better schools. We know how to build better cities. We know how to prevent at least a lot of wars. We know how to make society safer for kids. We know how to make healthier families. We know how to make medicine as a system work better. We know it all.

Heck, we have known how to make schools that are better in every way since the early 20th century - so more than a hundred years. This proposed school system since has been proofen time and time again in studies to be better for kids, and better in terms of education. But do we use them? No.

Again, politicians love to go: "We would love to change things, but we do not have a better system." But it is not true. We know how to do it better.

Same with the police and prison and stuff. We know how to do it better.

But right now, a) a lot of the stuff works in the favor of those who hold most power (aka the billionaires), b) a lot of people just do not like the idea of changing stuff majorly (which makes politicians who want change unpopular), and c) politicians also would need to fund the change - and that is going to be hard.

So, yeah. Change would be hard.

But it is not because we do not know how to do better.

And I really just wish people would stop propagating this idea that we do not know better. We do. But folks right now profit from things staying the same. And it sucks.

A few things to keep in mind, these beans are protected under the A.A.O [Astronia Agricultural orginaization] which means you CANNOT hurt the beans. You must collect them and take them to the docs. A ship will be waiting there to take the beans back to their home on Astronia!

You won't be alone of course, you'll have the one and only BeeBe ai to help guide you! BeeBe is an ai that can randomly appear on any electronic device, it's soul purposes is to inform and help you with anything smol bean related! [BeeBe does not have to be included in the prompt, they are an optional addition]

Beans do not have teeth, if they have teeth that is not a Smol bean, that is a Fur Bean in Smol bean form, which is a similar but different species

Beans can have wings so long as it fits the theme of their liquid

The liquid they are based on doesn't have to be edible

Beans must have a liquid tail, it doesn't have to be supper big, and can be a nub tail, but they must have a tail

Beans don't Have paws, toes, or toe beans, these can be added as a style choice, but are not cannon, they simply have nubs

I’m overthinking the dress up scene (DRDT theory *mild chapter 2 spoilers!*)

I’ve been rewatching DRDT and am very curious about the whole Dress Up Room scene in chapter 2, episode 2. Mostly, I’m curious about Whit’s inclusion in it. For one— unlike Teruko and Hu he does not get a very noticeable change in wardrobe.

There *are* differences (mainly his eyes and… socks) but they aren’t very noticeable to the casual watcher, especially after a production hiatus. Hu even points out the lack of change, therefore the viewers are pointed towards and intended to notice it.

So why was Whit included in this scene when a lot of characters got sprite revamps (such as Ace who got an entirely new haircut) between chapters?

I think it’s because of the information he gives to us (and Hu and Teruko) during that scene, which is why I’m gonna over analyze it!

Some people in the game take prescriptions and (assumably) only Whit knows who needs/takes pills and which ones. Here’s a mini theory — When asked, David told Whit that he takes anti-depressants, which could explain why Whit gave David the benefit of the doubt surrounding his motive secret.

2. I don’t think the show runners are trying to ensure comfort. They just don’t want anyone to die naturally or to die as a result of not taking their medicine. The whole point of the show is for the students to kill each other (even suicide is prohibited).

3. If a future murder takes place at night, and Whit claims to be asleep, he might be lying, since he’s supposedly a light sleeper. He only mentions light, though, not sound, bothering him but still I think it’s worth considering.

4. Here’s a mind experiment — who do YOU know in YOUR life which knows YOUR sleeping habits?? You can find a lot of private information about yourself online; but not many “ordinary” people share their sleeping habits online. Therefore the mastermind must (at the very least) know Whit personally, and personally ENOUGH that they found out about his *sleeping habits*. That’s the sort of thing that only immediate family (like the dead mom he tries not to mention??) or a partner (which is interesting because 1. Whit is a matchmaker, so it is fair to assume he has dated before; 2. Despite the lack of romance in DRDT Whit is being someone set up with Charles; 3. Whit is bi so this doesn’t narrow down the mastermind to one gender) or roommates have reason to know.

Now, the mastermind has to be someone who knows the students personally, not just through online research or questioning any of their casual friends. If the DRDT cast lost their school life memories, then whoever Whit was roommates with (assuming they had dorm mates at Hope’s Peak) is suspicious.

5. How would he have “checked around”? Did he ask politely? Did he break into everyone’s rooms? Hu and Teruko sure weren’t aware. Most curiously, Whit might have asked MonoTV…

But also, Whit is the only person to have such a thing?? What if, instead of Whit being the only one who needs accommodations, thr mastermind singled him out, potentially because the mastermind only has information on Whit. Maybe all of the “hints” we’ve seen towards Whit being the mastermind are actually clues towards him being related to the mastermind.

If the mastermind was a previous romantic partner, then it would tie in Whit’s matchmaking talent and incriminate Charles.

If the mastermind is his mother or some kind of family then his morbid interest in recording the executions and puns surrounding the victim’s death can be explained by how he was raised.

So yeah. Cute clothes!

TLDR: Whit was likely included in the dress up scene in order to establish information only he could possibly know about the game and himself.

Ok so I’ve been sitting on this for a while, as I just kept forgetting to post, however, this is the final post for my Artful Gambit run of Sea of Stars (I will. Probably post more about this game in the future too ofc). With this, I have defeated every enemy in the game with this relic equipped. This all started because I saw the achievement for defeating 10 bosses with it equipped, and chose to take it way too far.

Just as a reminder, the Artful Gambit reduces HP of all party members by 95% (even with buffs from armor or accessories), will double damage the player deals if the attack is timed correctly, but will also reduce damage the player takes down to 1 point of damage if timed correctly, meaning that later in the game, even one blow is fatal. It also makes enemies invincible while casting, which was made harder with the introduction of hidden locks.. right as I was going through the Flesancer’s Lair for the basic ending.

To start this off, I have the screenshots from the fight against The Queen That Was/The Gun Goddess. This wasn’t a particularly hard fight, it was just long. It doesn’t help that as mentioned, I was doing this fight while my work was on lockdown due to gunshots being fired in the building (nobody was hurt), so I was just not in the mood to post about it day of lmao

And I have some screenshots for the screenshot where you have to free Duke Aventry’s soul. Admittedly, a guide was in use for this one, as I am.. not great at navigating the areas you have to go through for this one. However it was still fairly easy once I got to the actual fight, with the biggest threat being the bone cage that she would sometimes trap one of my party members in.

Those were the last sidequests I needed to post about, and so now I get to show some stuff from the sidequest that ensures you get the true ending.

Major spoilers for that, and the final boss below the cut

Admittedly, I didn’t get a lot of screenshots of this sidequest, as it is genuinely such a charming part of the game and I do want anyone who hasn’t done it to go in blind. However, all I’m going to say is that what happens in this quest is partially revealed in the screenshots I took for the final boss fight. If you’ve been keeping up with this playthrough, you’ll know perfectly well what’s different now.

And as much as I love this sidequest, the way it was written just kills me (in a very positive way). The fact that this is where we finally get to use Garl’s cookie jar from the start of the game is always such a punch in the gut. It is so worth it though. Not to mention, thr fact it is purely centered around just.. bringing together all the major characters from across the game instead of a large boss fight or a difficult puzzle just says so much about the impact the main party had on everyone, and I just love how it’s handled. Honestly this whole quest could be its own post, all things considered.

And here we have what I have been wanting to post for days- the final fight against Aephorul. Obviously first I had to get a shot of everyone at the last campfire, because why wouldn’t I?

After that though, I started the actual fight. It’s important to note that yes, Garl being present for the fight actually adds more dialogue. Aephorul is fully aware of how the main party used time travel to bring Garl back, and he’s mad. (Not pictured, Garl throwing an apple (or tomato?) at Aephorul’s head to get his attention)

It should be mentioned that Garl does get his own unique attack.. which is easily the best one in the game. It deals every kind of damage possible, and is completely busted. It is why I didn’t die in this final fight.

With all that said and done though, after the World Eater boss fight, all that was left was to watch the ending cutscenes. The biggest difference, once again, is that Garl is not only present in them, but now he’s an Elder (I think it’s implied he’s the elder of Mooncradle?) of course, ignoring him, everything else goes almost identically to how it does in the basic ending

As the cutscene ends, we get the best possible thing- Confirmation that despite their duties as Guardian Gods, Zale and Valere still take the time to visit on Garl’s birthday just to see him. When I say i am in shambles every time, I mean it. I genuinely love this game so much.

Anyways while I won’t be documenting it, I am starting a no death run on the hardest difficulty now for some reason 👍 I may post the final results though

MAGNUS'S FATE

In my opinion there is 3 possibilities, but we all know Cassie; she is able to find 5 fates more that we don't. I will write the fates in order of less likely to more likely to.

3rd) His fate is the inevitable one that we already knew until know. He will be still the Great Witch living and alec will die in the future (like for age on in a battle but in the FUTURE) That if Alec doesn't die in TWP, but anyways the case is Magnus still living.

2nd) He dies in TWP. He has been in every single shadowhunter book, that smell dangerous. No more explanation to this.

1st) He doesn't die, BUT I think he will have to sacrifice his immortality. I don't know if the word is sacrifice, but like he will lost his immortality (which doesn't mean he will lost his powers) Maybe he doesn't sacrifice, but he lose them in a battle against someone/demon.

-Why I said that he might lose his immortality but not his powers. Well, Cassie has shown us how she love to create twist of what we think it is constant. For example: we though vampires couldn't never get the Ray of sun in their skin BECAUSE THEY DIE. bu then he did all the thing with the angelical blood. Or the Cain Mark even we can include it here. So I think he will lose his immortality but not his powers even when we know that warlocks can't be mortal.

-Also, do u guys remember how devastated was Magnus when he discovered Alec investigating how to make Magnus mortal and lose his powers? Now he has a family and I know Max is a warlock too, but something in my insides tell me that Magnus will lose his immortality AGAINST his will but that at thr he'll find comfort to die with the love of his life.

-Why do I think he will lose immortality, but not his powers? GUYS, something needs to happen with him, he has lived for all this books. It's this fate or getting kill. (Cassie has in the archives a wrtting advice, do u know what it says? "If u have a character evyone loves so much, ASSESINATE IT. And if u can make that the main characters is who killed it, even better" She is unhinged. Let me explain this. In the Last King Of faerie, the main characters are Dru,Kit and Ty. But let's say Alec is another POV in the rest of books because of his relationship with Magnus. This will make the killer one of them and we are not prepare for that. So choose between Magnus dying or losing his immortality. Also, I think Cassie would find a way to conserve Magnus powers cause losing the powers for Magnus would be like a death already. That's why I think he won't lose his powers.

-We already have a Tessa Gray, what happened with Will and what will happen with Jem I don't think is going to be repeated with Magnus.

- I don't know if the 3rd book of Magnus and Alec gets released before or after TWP, but if its after we can see like how they die together cause I'm sure Cassie is going to pull a shit like "she forgot the precise blue of his eyes" but them being old together. Or maybe is a the last book, but we are having a sob ending about those 2.

After talking to Wayne about the safety of the princess, Eddie returns to his room and looks at himself in the mirror. He feels his hands too light, feeling he is missing something. He is definitely missing something.

He wonders if this is the end. It is, maybe it is. He has to let go of the fire that ignites the chimney on the coldest week of winter and stay at home with the ray of sun that has lightened his face every day in the morning.

It would be stupid to run and see you, it would be so stupidly wrong. But for a moment he thinks, and thinks. There’s a possibility of you running away with him. He can’t predict the future, god, he wishes he could and right now the only thing left is giving up.

He sits in his bed, taking a notebook from under his pillow. The first page has a drawing of his mom, he tugs it close to his heart and as soon as he rests his head in the pillow, a tiny piece of paper peeks from under the leather.

“I wanna be defined by the things that I love. Not the things I hate. Not the things that I'm afraid of. Not the things that haunt me in the middle of the night. I just think that you are what you love.”

He closes his eyes, letting all his feelings flutter inside his body. He misses his mom. He misses being happy. Being, feeling free.

It is time for things to change, he thinks.

It is time I change things.

With shaky hands and a pale face, terror conquers Eddie’s body at the sight of your parents. The king and queen.

“It's okay, you got this” he hears Wayne’s voice from their conversation before. Eddie got out of his room, told Wayne everything he felt, every little thing that was on his mind.

It was hard for Wayne to accept that the living reminder of his sister was telling him he was going to leave. He wanted to be mad, but he couldn't. It's what Eddie's mom would've wanted. It's what Eddie should do, fight for love.

Wayne was in love once, he understood completely. He hugged his nephew, he kissed his forehead. He wishes the best to him.

“So… what do you have for us? News?” The king, your father, speaks.

“I… i need to tell you something” Eddie's hands are no longer shaking. “I don't want to be your knight anymore, but don’t get me wrong it was an honor”

The kings, your parents, look at each other and for a moment they know. They know why, they know what’s coming, they've prayed for this.

“It is, it’s fine Eddie. But tell me, why the sudden change of mind?” your mother speaks, her voice is gentle. It surprises Eddie.

“I'm not– I'm not asking for permission. You can stop me, you can try to stop me. I need to go away, I need to get out of here. But I'm not doing it alone, I'm not going out empty handed.

For the first time in my life, I felt seen, I felt loved. Your daughter, I've been obsessed with her my whole life. She never treated me differently, no, how could she? She is the angel of my dreams, she is all I need. Her kindness. Her bravery. Her, she… she has a beautiful way of describing things, of seeing life.

I swallowed my heart for the sake of my kingdom but this is not what I want. I want her. She brought me back to life, I spent less than a lifetime with her and I need her. I need her like lungs need air. She fills me up, she… she makes me feel safe.

So I'm telling you… not asking. I need to go away, she needs to get out of here. I'm getting her out, to give her a happy, free and safe life. Im getting her away from you, and them, and this. To love her, to take care of her, and to make her the happiest girl that’s ever going to exist on this planet.”

His chest hurts, his throat is swollen. He is wondering why they aren’t throwing him in some dungeon.

The queen gets to him, away from her throne. The king follows her.

“Eddie. We are not going to stop you, you’d be doing us a favor” she says, taking Eddie’s hands in hers.

“We can’t stop this, but you can. Get away. Go away. Take care of our little girl” The king speaks, his eyes looking soft.

“We are not going to stop you, but we can’t help you either. You must have a plan by now, you are a smart boy” your mom speaks again, tears filling up her eyes.

“You can go now. Good luck, and thank you for caring about her” your dad speaks, Eddie nods.

This is the last time he is going to see them. He takes a deep breath and walks out.

It’s been a dreadful week, a nightmare of a lifetime. Jason’s mom keeps coming into your room, you’ve tried on thirty-seven dresses and still none of them is the right one. How could any dress be the right one, when the husband-to-be isn’t the one you love?

Every minute you spend in that castle, away from your family and waiting for Jason to come and talk to you when you know he is away with a girl somewhere. It feels like that’s all you are going to be. Always a girl trapped in some room, away from the wonders, the adventures.

From the moment Eddie let the other knights take you, your heart has been feeling heavy. The feeling of waking up to an empty bed after the best night of your life was something you couldn’t describe. It was painful.

Someone who is in love with you doesn’t betray you, he doesn’t get to do that to you. And you think, maybe this is what you deserve. To be here. Alone.

After getting some food for dinner you go back to your room. A room that’s too empty for your taste. There are no books lying around. No comfortable silk pillowcases. The sheets are rough, the blankets are too cold.

You look out, the tiny window in the room is enough for you to see a part of the woods. The sun is going down, it will disappear in an hour, maybe less.

“Since you don’t want any dress, I will have to give you my own” the queen enters the room, making you jump.

“I can’t. No i can’t take that from you” you shake your head.

“It is settled” she lets the modiste come in to fix the dress, it’s the less you can now.

“I have this. It’s for you… but please don’t tell anyone i gave it to you”

On her hands rest a letter, with a pink wax seal that you would recognize everywhere. Your mom’s.

“My dear, our tulip.

We have been thinking, we have been convinced. This life is not for you, it never was.

Since you were born, we have been the happiest pair. My little girl.

It is time for you to be your own person. To make your own choices. To make good things. To make mistakes.

He is going to take care of you. He is going to do what we couldn’t… He is going to make you happy.

Me, dad. We love you, cherry pie. We will miss you. You are our thoughts.

Love you. Mom.”

Tears pool on your eyes, and you blink twice and look at the paper. Hope gets over you, you spin in your feet with a smile on your face.

Him? Eddie? All of this is too good to be true.

“How did you get this?” you ask the modiste.

“Princess, i'm not a modiste. I'm some sort of a… messenger? Tonight at midnight you need to go down the stairs, through the kitchen and wait on the opposite side of the barn. You know what’s waiting, I won't tell you.”

“Midnight. Got it, thank you” you say.

“Have a safe travel, it was an honor to meet you”

A wave of happiness hits you. You rest in bed and tug the letter close to your chest.

The moment you’ve been dreaming for is finally here. Freedom. Love. Him.

You wonder why this couldn’t come sooner, but maybe this was the right time. The right time to be anything you want to be, to start again in a new place. Meet people. Travel. Learn.

And most importantly… be with him. Kiss him. Hug him. You miss his touch. His smell. His fingers over and inside you.

The door opens in a rush, you hide the letter under your pillow. It’s Jason, drunk, filthy, dumb Jason.

“Hello future wife, i am exhausted from just… kissing so many girls” he closes the door and gets in bed with you, pulling you to him. You try to fight back but he doesn’t let you. His arms are heavy on you. “Fuck-fuck night gowns and fuck-fuck-fuck me” he falls asleep quickly, like some sort of miracle.

You look at him, it’s the most peaceful you’ve ever seen him. You wonder why a sweet kid like him could grow up to be a nightmare of a person.

Is this what happens? When greed, money, fame and a high status gets over your head? And you wonder. Is he going to look for you? With violent knights and hundreds of weapons. If he is selfish, dumb and evil. Would you ever be safe?

The clock hits midnight. It’s time to go.

You press your fingers on his arm, delicately breaking free of his grip so he won’t wake up. His arm fell hard on the mattress, your fingers slipped but he didn’t wake up.

He is lost. Dozing.

You run to the door, quietly. Once it’s been open you close it and run towards the kitchen.

A loud sneeze comes from the hallway, you hide in a closet next to the back door. You take a peek from what it looks like to be a keyhole and realize it’s the queen. Jason’s mom.

She makes herself tea. Surprisingly, she is making a tea by herself. The clock above her head marks five minutes past midnight, you cross your fingers hoping she doesn’t take too much time.

Eddie’s plan has been working perfectly. Since packing his stuff, some of your stuff he got back from the cabin in the woods. He got a horse ready, fruit and bread for the ride. A map.

He gets close to the back of the barn, leaving the horse a few minutes back so he won’t get caught.

Eddie hears steps coming to the barn. The king, Jason’s dad. He is pacing around looking at the animals, maybe he can’t sleep.

After a few minutes the queen joins the king, Jason’s parents look like villains out of a book. They look old, tired and their faces always have a frown on it.

Eddie starts to play with the rings in his hands. He is anxious. They won’t go away and if you come out the door and find them they will catch you and lock you forever. He has to stop you from coming out.

His steps are fast, but quiet. He looks for another entrance to the castle and runs through the hallway. He looks at the wedding decorations.

The wedding was supposed to happen today, in the morning.

He runs through the castle, hoping no one will see him and after catching a glimpse of your figure he runs towards you. You managed to escape the queen a few seconds ago, making your way to find another exit.

The place looks like a labyrinth, everything is dark. Eddie feels himself running in circles, getting to the same place over and over. He stops to ease his breath, trying to get rid of the fog that clouds his eyes. A body bumps into him, he opens his eyes and takes in your face.

The softness of your lips. The pretty tip of your nose. And when he finally locks his gaze with yours he allows himself to breathe again.

“It’s you” you say, quiet.

“Hi, i’m here to rescue you,” he says, with a grin on his lips.

“That is… very accurate. I was going to make fun of you for that”

“What can I say? call me knight charming”

You push your body towards him, his hands fit right in your waist and pull you to his chest. Your lips met his in a short kiss, it lasts seconds but it takes you to heaven.

“I’m sorry. I have so many things I need to say to you but we have to go. Now” you nod, taking his words in, his hand reaches yours and together you run to find an exit.

After what felt like hours of running, you finally make it to Eddie’s horse. He gets “Peanut” ready to leave but panics as he hears footsteps, not too close so you can escape in time but close enough to make him anxious.

“Hurry” he says to you.

“I see them, c’mon!” A drunk Jason walks slowly to you. He is still far away, his steps are clumsy and it’s taking him years to reach you.

“Let’s go, sweetheart” Eddie’s voice sounds muffled, a ring in your ears starts to increase its pitch.

Your heart is beating in your heart so fast, your body is completely frozen.

“I can’t” you look at Eddie, his lips trembling.

“What?”

“I- I didn't say goodbye to my parents. I didn’t hug them one last time i-” you pause, tears run down your cheeks “This, this kingdom. The people, they need me Eddie”

“No! no they don’t. Your mom is, she is going to take care of them. Your dad said they are going to think about you all the time… sweetheart, please. It’s time to go” he reaches for your hands, taking them with a soft touch and squeezing them.

“And the cabin, I need my stuff. My books and my clothes” you look at him, he is worried but he knows you are scared.

“I have some stuff, I have the clothes and blankets you made. The mug and plates you made. Your box of jewelry” he drops your hands by your sides, his soft palms travel to your cheeks and he takes a deep breath. “There’s books everywhere, we can buy more and we can look in every place for them. Please…” he kisses your forehead, hoping it would ground you and assuring you it’s going to be okay. “Please come with me”

You nod, you take his hands away from your face and your heart skips a beat. You get on the horse with him, hugging him from behind and squeezing his body as tears fall down your cheeks again.

As you get far away from the kingdoms, the castles slowly start to disappear. Eddie manages to lose the ones that were following you and starts to focus on the road.

It was hard. Sad.

The two of you were heartbroken.

Leaving people you loved. The place you grew up in. All the memories you’ve left behind.

Eddie told you he managed to sell the cabin to a couple in the kingdom that were tired of the stupid rules and wanted to be free. It was enough to get a tiny house, your jewelry was going to help.

You were going to find jobs and live a happy life. Together.

After traveling around for months, you finally found a place to stay. It was a big town, without a kingdom.

There was a mayor, a woman with a strong character but she looked nice.

A sheriff, he looked serious and he was strong.

The two of them welcomed you after buying your house. It was much better than the cabin, nicer than Eddie’s house. You loved it, it was tiny and felt cozy. It felt like a home.

Hours after settling, showering together and sharing some kisses. Your now boyfriend and you walked through town, at the very center of it there was a market.

You bought books, fruit, and some ingredients to cook. Pieces of fabric, silk, old drapes.

In the corner some kids close to a carpet full of miscellaneous stuff.

“How much for the guitar?” Eddie says, taking the guitar in his hands and starting to play a melody. You watch him, his smile looks so good and his eyes are less puffy.

“I will give you a good deal if you teach us how to play the new one we got” A boy with curly hair speaks, as the others watch your boyfriend.

“Deal” Eddie reaches for the boy’s hand and he takes it smiling. “I’m Eddie, this is my princess Y/N”

“I’m Dustin” he shakes his hand “These are my friends, Mike, Lucas, Will, Max and El”

“Nice to meet to guys” you smile, they all look so friendly.

“Are you really a princess?” Max says, getting close to you with El by her side.

“Let’s say… we all are princesses” you smile at them “Right?”

“I love that!” El says, smiling.

You watch the kids laugh and dance as Eddie plays a song on the guitar and sings. Your heart flutters.

You look at each other, words aren’t needed when you know you feel the same. Finally you are free, happy. In a place where you feel like you belong. In a place when you can make your own choices and as your mom said, your own mistakes. But by Eddie’s side it will always be great, things will always be great.

hey! what a ride. this was my first time doing a long fic. i have to apologize for the ending, i tried to wrap up everything and i still feel like i missed some things but i will write them in the future, separately from this long story but in the same universe.

i dropped this story for a long time and i had a lot of plans, unfortunately i didn’t have time to do it and i just keep being unmotivated by the whole thing but i tried my best to come up with an ending instead of abandoning it.

DCUO Cosplays 46: Zak Storm

Zak Storm is the titular protagonist of the french-american 2016 show "Zak Storm: Super Pirate", co-produced by Zagtoon and Man of Action.   Good (reason should be obvious) Mentor:  Wonder Woman (since his foes are magic-based) Movement: Skimming (since he often uses a sky board to surf the sky) Power: Mental (due to the variety in elemental abilities it offers) Weapon: One-Handed (reason should be obvious)   Power Loadout: 1 Cryokinesis (because Eye of Sino) 2 Pyrokinesis (because Eye of Blazz) 3 Psychic Shock (because Eye of Aeria) 4 Telekenteic Shield (since the Eye of Dezer gives him a shield) 5  Mass Hysteria (Since it allows him to became a ghost and summon ghost to help him, it checks the boxes on both thr Eye of Zite as well as him having a crew to support him (one of them even being a ghost)) 6 Robot Sidekick (since he is part of a team) Server: EU   Quote: "Calabrass! Some background info: He's actually one of 3 characters from his show I re-created in DCUO (the other two being Cece and Crogar). However, since the other two are only based design-wise on the originals with powers based on the Eye of Beru and Dezer respectively, I'm not counting them as "cosplays".   Creative liberties have been taken due to a 1:1 re-creation in all aspects not being possible. Appearance may change in the future due to new styles being unlocked. If it happens, an updated version will be uploaded.

Now that Loki season two has closed the TVA Handbook on Loki’s story, the question remains as to whether Tom Hiddleston has bid adieu to the MCU. It’s hard to imagine a better ending for the former God of Mischief, and since Loki‘s potential series finale aired last week, Hiddleston even referred to the episode as the “conclusion” of his 14-year journey with Loki. However, when pressed further on the subject this week, he then created a little bit of wiggle room for himself to return someday. 

For Loki executive producer Kevin R. Wright, Hiddleston’s finale performance felt like a goodbye of sorts.

“I think his approach to that performance certainly was [a send-off], and I think we all felt that on set,” Wright tells The Hollywood Reporter.

But similar to his lead actor, Wright is quick to issue his own caveats.

“We wanted this to feel like a proper ending for our show, but that does not mean that there won’t be more Loki or stories within this world,” Wright adds. “We just wanted to give this a proper ending in a way that we often don’t get to do in the MCU.”

Wright, who originated much of the series’ foundational elements through his own pitch years ago, says that he’s still making the case for more TVA stories in the MCU.

“I would love to keep telling TVA stories. Internally, people pitch everything, and I’m actively like, ‘I want to do more TVA!’” Wright shares. “It will just end up being about where it makes sense for them to come in, in the future, but we all look at that corner of the MCU and go, ‘God, we’re just scratching the surface.’”

Below, during a recent spoiler conversation with THR, Wright also addresses a couple Mobius fan theories and how he’s looking forward to developing future TV series in a more traditional fashion.

So, in the end, instead of killing Sylvie to save time itself, Loki makes the ultimate sacrifice for the good of everyone else, and in doing so, he tasks himself with literally holding the fabric of existence together. And to me, that’s both a tragic and triumphant end. Why was this the right note to end the series on?

I’m glad those are the two feelings, because that’s what we were going for. (Laughs.) I don’t know if I can answer that beyond what you just said; it’s just the right ending to the story. We always knew the show was going to end with Loki on a throne, even in season one, and it was never about where he was going. It was always about the feeling we wanted audiences to feel when he got there, and it was about building the story that led to that feeling. Ultimately, because I don’t want to get too into the weeds on the last ten minutes of the show, we all feel like the answers and the intentions are there on screen. 

But what I can say, generally, is that we are all really bored by the binary of hero-villain, good guy-bad guy, good choice-bad choice. In the real world, choices are really complicated. Real heroism often goes completely unrewarded. It often involves people who are making really tough decisions and will never benefit from the sacrifices that they’re having to make. And if you can build a superhero comic-book story that dives into the weeds of a more complicated heroism, then that was a challenge that was worth it to us to try. And Loki is the best character to do that with in many ways.

Technically, did Loki become the God of Stories, or a personified version of Yggdrasil, the Norse Tree of Life?

Are those mutually exclusive? It all comes back to questions of free will. Is he writing stories, or is he allowing stories to continue to be told? Is he weaving them together? It’s an interpretation of what exactly he did there at the end, but I think both can potentially be true.

Of course, anything is possible within the comic book genre, but this finale feels like a send-off for Tom Hiddleston as this character. Do you think we’ve seen the last of Tom’s Loki for at least a long while?

We just wanted to give this a proper ending in a way that we often don’t get to do in the MCU. But also, in Marvel comics and the history of comics, the end of a comic run doesn’t mean the end of that character or those stories. And if there’s another story to be told or further stories to be told with what we’re doing here — and it’s with the right filmmakers and the right writers and the right team — then we would love to continue to see Tom. I also said this in season one, but I honestly think Tom will play Loki until he’s Richard E. Grant’s Classic Loki. It’s about the right thing and when we’re doing it, and being really careful about how we build those stories. 

The TVA still has some unfinished business, as they have to track Kang variants. So will the TVA appear in the MCU again at some point?

I would love to keep telling TVA stories. Internally, people pitch everything, and I’m actively like, “I want to do more TVA!” It will just end up being about where it makes sense for them to come in, in the future, but we all look at that corner of the MCU and go, “God, we’re just scratching the surface.”

360 sets. You begged and pleaded for them, and they were worth their weight in gold. Kasra Farahani also sounded optimistic that this approach might become more common on other MCU projects. So do you think you’ve successfully made your case to the crested blazers of the Marvel Studios Parliament? 

We’ll see. It comes down to the speed at which we make streaming shows, and that’s natural for TV. That’s not a Marvel speed. You’re shooting a lot in small schedules, and it’s benefited by having sets and not having to do a ton of VFX in every shot. It makes good practical sense, and there’s a reason why people did it for a hundred years of moviemaking. It’s about when it makes sense for our stories, certainly, but we’re also telling comic book stories, and sometimes, things have to be more fantastical than what you can build. So it’s about being smart and how you do it. I love it, and I know our team loves it. When we were shooting Loki, we had a number of filmmakers who visited set, and their reactions were like, “They let you build all this?” And it’s like, “Yeah! Wait, you’re not? You should be doing this, too.” (Laughs.)  So, long answer short, yeah, I think people have seen what we did and they see that it’s an option now, and will hopefully embrace it.

Fan theories can be both a blessing and a curse, as your friends on WandaVision know, but have you lost any sleep over not making the McDonald’s kid a young Mobius (Owen Wilson)?

No, but I love that theory. I also saw that maybe Mobius is an Odin variant, and that was really imaginative and cool, too. So it was never discussed and I never lost sleep over it, although I read all that stuff and I love it. Partially why Loki feels more densely layered than some other projects is we know that people are looking at it in that way and are digging into everything. So everybody on the team really embraces that and goes, “If it’s in frame, it has to hold up the scrutiny.” We’re either subliminally hiding things in there, or we’re putting things in there to misdirect so that we can better impact people with something more surprising. But I love that people engage with it that way, and I hope that they see that we are engaging back with them in how we build the show.

And what about a medium shot of Loki and Mobius on the tandem bicycle? Do you regret that you won’t see that meme for the rest of your life?

No, because I can go online and I can see it in all of the amazing fan art. It’s out there. We knew you just had to handle that with a very light touch, and the audience will fill in the blanks. And they beautifully have.

Marvel made a bunch of release date moves recently, and we’re not going to see much of you in 2024. Are you a bit relieved since Marvel Studios’ own temporal loom won’t be overloaded? 

What’s exciting to me — and this is something [head of streaming at Marvel] Brad Winderbaum has talked about — is what I personally will get to be making next. We’ll really be able to have the time to slowly build it, find the right team for it, find the right people to develop it, build a pilot and build things on a more traditional schedule. It’s a little bit like the sets. It’s good, it’s practical, it’s smart, and when things are done right with the right team, these projects can be really, really good. And I think Loki is really, really good. So, if we give the development and production cycle the right amount of attention and build a calendar in a way that allows us to really do this correctly, you will get to see more projects that are of this caliber. It’s just about giving the creatives the space and the resources to do things properly. So, ultimately, this is a really good thing. I know people want more, but I also know that if we take time with it, they will appreciate what they get.

Well, the ultimate compliment I can pay all of you is that I didn’t care much for Loki prior to this series, and not because he was a bad guy or anything like that. This show fulfilled the original promise of these Marvel Disney+ series by deepening this character in a way that the movies don’t have time for, and I have nothing but fondness for Loki now. So Loki should be the case study for how valuable Disney+ can be for Marvel.

One, thank you. Two, I agree. I know that our writers, Justin [Benson], Aaron [Moorhead], Kate [Herron] and everybody would also agree, and that was the most appealing part of this. You can slowly take your time and build a really fulfilling story. We have very little action this season. (Laughs.) There’s a lot of thrills and there’s a lot of big stuff, but it was about really taking our time to build a character story that can feel truly fulfilling. So I look forward to being able to do more stories this way.

Callum never got why his mother was always trying to compromised to negotiate to use words to bring peace more than anything. He stares at a mural of his mother in a suit of metal and leather armor. She sat on a stone hunch over as she leans on her spear which was planted blade first into a fallen soldier's chest. Her fave was completely silhouetted the exception of her eyes which were completely red and had bags underneath them and her brows looked Furious they scrunched together enough making her look terrifying.

She just stares forward unmoving but foreboding. Her cloak was torn and the remnants lay around her and the rock. The landscape around her was torn up ground Boulders haphazardly shoved all over the place is it been thrown there the dirt making trails where they had plowed through the ground they were bodies littered everywhere armor pieces strewn across the battlefield covered in blood and viscera.

Her hemtal was halfway off her head. Her hair was messy and stick out in multiple directions she looked beaten she looked bloody she looked exhausted yet she stood she sat there unmoving and imposing. She seemed but she was content with her decision she decided what she was doing and she was doing this and there were a few bodies around her that looked vaguely familiar one had featured similar to Lord veren but younger and the person she had the spirit to look like Claudia.

this was sitting in the basement and covered up. He looks for a title on thr back and he sees something the defiant who stands up and lives- Boudicca.

Boudicca must be the artist who painted this. He gulps as he studied the sky, where was black birds flying and there was feathers around them too.

A hound sits down beside the rock. It looked tired but also at peace with a human leg in its mouth.

The whole painting invoked certain emotions inside of him he looked well done and looked well crafted but it made him uneasy to see his mother painted in such a vision but it seemed raw and truthful his mother was a soldier after all so what if it was more on the more gruesome side if his mother had commissioned this painting she must know what she was doing with the artist was stealing each breath stroke was wild unpredictable but made sense.

She looked so strong here. The colors were of their home. The blood was gold and red giving it almost a gaudy but gruesome appearance making it beautiful yet terrifying.

Runaan stands in the door way and spoke "that artist who made that for your mother had future sight she was a Morrigan daughter so she foretold their fates in the art."

"What?" Callum didn't believe that for a second. How could that be possible?" runaan snorts and then callum answred "she did the touch-ups for the painting between my stepfather and Lord viren?"

Runaan stops and thinks. He sees how the painting is style and smiles "Yeah," he responded like he just membered "if you put black light under the painting between your stepdad and his royal advisor Viren you'll see under the black light the actual painting itself it's has the same impact and is like when Julius Caesar getting killed by Brutus. A friend being betrayed by a friend in the most terrifying way possible." Runaan confirm and callum felt fear down his back and then runaan walked closer "that woman who paints like this is a warrior poet. She is a bard who fights with more than her voice and her harp."

He then left callum with that and the painting which shows the horror of his mother.

A warrior of battle. He looked like the most like her. Which was unsettling because of this she had chosen to me a soldier she was a soldier before she was killed and he was a poet so why did this unnerve him so much.

it was just her doing her job and that was the aftermath of doing her job but something else irked him like a whisper in the back of his head it was familiar it was his darker side but it didn't make much sense. She wasn't just a soldier he had to tell him so remind himself that just because he did something but he didn't fully agree with didn't make her evil.

that dang Hound beside her off about that dog seemed too much at ease for something that looks injured and mangled.

The dog was uncomfortable to look at too long like the dog knew something. It seemed to say come on face me know the truth it's like a challenge

Sky should be high from guilty gear is actually about being trans and I didn't completely make that up!

The beginning of this song is the closest to having outright trans themes, with it talking about taking the path to be free, which could be seen as the process of transitioning. What I find more interesting is how it talks about being binded by the past, referring to it as filth. There is a clear disgust towards it, comparing it to a part of a cell trapping the person going through this.

A common feeling after transitioning is a certain disliking of our past, and thinking we are trapped by what we were. This idea that we are somehow not being true to the person we were before can develop, leading to us feeling trapped by our own identity.

The song sets up our main issue within this first section, that being the hardships of transitioning.

"Fades away

Fades away like footsteps on the shoreline

why? They try to bring me down.

Sky should be high... Backflow"

The song brings up the idea of the past slowly fading away, and while calling the past a filth, it still has a somber tone while talking about it disappearing. The next line, about others trying to bring the person down, without any understandable reason, is quite obvious in it's correlation to the trans experience.

The last sentence is a repeating line throughout the song, and it's the most important idea this song has to offer... a rejection of death. The sky it refers to could be seen as an afterlife, a place we go to so we may rest, and this song states that such a place should be far away from us. We shouldn't give up on life, on our choices, and as such our sky should be high.

The backflow part doesn't have much to be interpreted. If i had to draw some kind of conclusion, I'd say it's the idea of changing gender, changing the flow... (It's a stretch, but so is everything)

"HERE we go again CON-tradiction

Should I stay or should I die

TRIED to pave a path

DUG a huge hole

had no clue that was my GRAVE"

Sometimes, after transitioning, we can feel like we are contradicting our own body, this whole verse of the song is an almost rageful rant about the hardships experienced throughout the process of figuring it all out.

The idea of staying or dying is a dark concept many trans people have to face, having to choose between gender dysphoria or possible social shunning.

The song again mentions the idea of paving a path and this time it results in almost giving up. It should be mentioned that it does something interesting vocally here, with the word DUG being pronounced so that the D sound is emphasised, making it sound like the word DIE before the UG sound and further context is added. This is used to show the descent of the song, going from doubt to almost completely giving up.

The last two lines further reinforce this, with it now representing the transition as a grave which will lead to death, a death of one's own creation.

"Fades away

Hands and feet are bound, Can't even see

why? They try to bring me down.

Sky should be high... Backflow"

This verse is mostly the same as the one before it, with the important distinction of the second line. The past is now almost completely faded, and that can be scary, feeling like we can't change anything about our future or see what we were like can be a scary idea.

"Backflow

Backflow... As dark shades are made by the sun

Backflow... Good booze is just making it just worse

Backflow... The more words, the less I get

This world is built in brimstone"

The constant repeating of the word backflow is meant to be an attempt to forcefully get through this, continuing with the transition despite the contradictions consistently being brought up within the person.

Dark shades made by the sun can be seen as the negative effects of the transition, with the sun representing the transition itself, while the shades are meant to show how this, at its core healthy and good process, has negative effects due to the way trans people are treated.

Addictions can be developed because of these internal (and tbh in huge part societal) issues. The booze is used as an example of a furthering spiral downward, making everything worse.

The idea that the more words are used to express this feeling, the less the very person explaining it understands themselves is also quite powerful.

It ends by stating that the world is built in brimstone, which could be taken as society being unwilling to change and co-exist with the idea of trans people. This is the lowest point of the song, having it feel like the whole world is against the very idea of being trans.

"Can't you see?

The innocent may find the way

Wise men lose track of the single path

No one knows tomorrow"

A change in perspective. The first line suggests this is a different person completely, as with an almost rhetorical tone it asks the question we thought we knew the answer to. This idea that the answer is obvious, but we've been blind to it, is the major theme of this verse.

Firstly, it claims that as long as we stay innocent, as long as we stay good and moral people, we may find the way.

Secondly, it says that even the wisest of us can lose track of said path, and that there is no shame in that.

Third, it presents the idea that no one knows tomorrow, that no one is certain what the future may bring.

These words contrast the verse before, claiming that no matter the hardships we face, this world isn't built in brimstone, it can change, we can find our own path, and we may get lost along the way, but even the best get lost occasionally.

"I'll never ever kneel down"

This might be my favorite sentence in a song ever, a complete rejection of giving up, refusing to not live because of hardships. Something not innate to the trans experience, but one of the things that defy it. The song has presented the hardships, and the answers, but this, this is the conclusion.

"Stairway

Stay away... not going there

Sky should be high"

The town of god is another synonym for the afterlife, with the song, now with certainty, proclaiming it wishes to stay away. Rejecting death, giving up and this fake peace, it repeats the idea of how the sky should be high.

"Oh Fades away

Fades away like footsteps on the shoreline

(Yeah) Fades away just one moment left

Sky should be high Backflow"

The past is fading away for the final time, but this time, due to the certainty gained, the song doesn't have a regretful and somber sound. As the last moment finishes, we repeat the ideas we mentioned, and the ending lyric of backflow signifies the completion of the transition, finally accepting ourselves and finding our path. The sky should indeed be high.

Yesterday, Maple had a consult with an orthopedic surgeon in Chattanooga. It went very well! We were very happy with the vet hospital--their facility was excellent, and everyone we talked to there was kind, respectful, professional, and helpful. Maple, of course, was a very good girl and did wonderfully at the hospital! Ultimately I feel we received good news, and I left feeling encouraged and more confident in both medical management and surgical options for her hip dysplasia.

We mostly went there to discuss total hip replacement (THR) surgery for Maple. According to the surgeon, she is a good candidate for THR surgery, and it would be a reasonable choice for her, with the goal of eliminating pain and returning normal function to her hip(s) for the rest of her life. There is even a good chance she would regain function well enough and be pain free with only one hip being replaced.

We were also told that it is perfectly reasonable to wait and possibly get the surgery done in the future if we want to continue to try medical management first for now; the surgeon assured us that Maple’s age is not a factor that should prevent her from getting this surgery, not now nor when she is older. As he put it, “[dogs] don’t come with an expiration date.” He regularly does THR on older dogs and told us there is no reason that they cannot get and benefit from the surgery; just the other week he performed a THR on a giant schnauzer who was around Maple’s age, as well as another dog recently who was 14 years old. With Maple turning 12 later this year, it was a big relief to hear that there isn’t this big looming time limit on her being able to be helped with surgery.

(The surgeon did not particularly recommend FHO surgery for Maple, which is already in-line with how we felt about it, which is that it’s not the right choice for her case.)

That said, we also talked about medical management. In the surgeon’s opinion, at Maple’s current age and progression of arthritis in her hips, there is no reason for us to limit her activities at all—he does not think that she will really be able to do further damage/make her arthritis any worse than it already is. In his opinion, we should let Maple choose how she wants to limit herself and how much she wants to do. I am a little skeptical on that simply because Maple is a high drive dog who has a tendency to push through pain...however I feel like I can try to make informed judgment calls based on her pain levels (especially now that I know her issue is there,) and continue to do what I’ve always done throughout her life—be her sense of self-preservation for her. I am going to try to compromise with Maple—she can do what she wants as long as I don't see her struggling with pain. If she is noticeably having a hard time, she's gotta stop, and at least take a break.

So, especially since there is no reason we cannot choose surgery for her in the future if we decide that's best, our plan for now is to see if medical management (pain meds + supplements + physical therapy) can help Maple be pain-free and mobile enough to have good quality of life and continue to do the things she loves. We’re gonna see how it goes. I already see some improvement since starting her on gabapentin and omega 3s, and hopefully that trend continues. I hope she will be ok and continue to be able to be Maple to the fullest capacity. 🧡
