ok so now that we had lilac swapped with clover what if we swapped frisk and lilac's soul traits(and roles in the story),frisk deserves some narrative doom too

Ngl i have a lot less character notes this time because frisk is a big ball of enigma to me. I try to tackle these designs with a fun twist in mind for the characters but i think the twist for frisk is that they get to evade integrity canon by plugging their ears and going “la la la la u cant get me” and then they frolic away. Still an enigma. Silly child. THIS DEFEATS OF THE PURPOSE OF DOOMING THEM BY THE NARRATIVE SORRY FRISK CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT IN MY MIND LOL. lilac is also there

Undertale Spamtenna:

Neutral Endings

Expanding on my Undertale Spamtenna AU woohoo (told you I was insane lol.)

Note: The illustrations are meant to show each different ending and thus are not related nor a chain of events. I’ll go into detail for all 3 endings under the cut.

Also note: This AU may be different from most common Undertale Spamtenna AUs, as you never battle Spamton in the Neutral Route. Instead, you battle their daughter and possibly Tenna depending on your choices.

Neutral Ending 1: Betrayal/Missing Family

Requirements: Spare Bibiz in battle, but kill Tenna once he spares you.

Tenna will jump into the battle after a few rounds once he hears Bibiz’s crying, assuming you were only there to help keep her company. He’ll tell you that reason he wasn’t there to begin with was because he’d just got back from his appointment with Dr. Alphys later than he hoped & presumed Bibiz would stay asleep while he was away. Since Spamton is the only mailman in the Underground, he’s not around to watch her, either.

Aftermath:

As with any Betrayal kill, Tenna dies in one hit.

Bibiz will cry and run away, never to be seen again.

Spamton will never be encountered by Frisk/the player.

Sans’ Call:

Sans will tell you about the mailman being worried sick, running around desperately to find his family. No one really knew the family well since they kept to themselves in the garbage dump, as if they were banished or too afraid to reach out to anyone. Even Sans is surprised, saying he’d never even heard of the mailman’s family until now.

Neutral Ending 2: Lost Signal/No Signal

Note: I actually can’t decide which name to call this run so I use both ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Requirements: Fight Bibiz and Tenna.

Trying to kill Bibiz will trigger Tenna interrupting the fight and taking the final blow for her. Tenna yells for her to run and go find her other dad, thus you can never kill Bibiz. Instead, you must kill Tenna, as any attempt to Spare him will be ignored. While Tenna is a tough opponent, he’ll glitch and spazz out with every hit while having a coughing fit, saying he’d rather die by saving his family rather than “a little cold”.

Aftermath:

A trashcan and a yellow arm are the only remains of Tenna. If you try to grab the arm, it will shock you.

Again, Spamton will never be encountered by Frisk/the player. Bibiz will never be seen again, either.

Sans’ Call:

Sans will tell you about the mailman quitting his job unexpectedly, though he’s “too lazy” to take the new job opportunity for himself. Monsters living nearby took pity on the baby constantly crying in the dump, so they donate food and toys for the former mailman. Despite this, however, the mailman is cold and bitter, blaming you for his misery. At the very end, Sans will cheekily ask: “Now, why would that be? It’s not like you killed his husband…right?”

Neutral Ending 3: Final Episode/Canceled Episode

Note: While there are two different ways this route can go (hence the two different names), the ending is ultimately the same.

Requirements: Spare Bibiz and Tenna.

Again, Tenna jumps into Bibiz’s battle once he hears her crying. Once you Spare them both, Tenna will have a coughing fit. He dismisses it at first, saying that all the excitement must’ve jostled his wires a bit. After another coughing fit and a bit of glitching, however, he groans about his visit with Dr. Alphys and how she told him that he may not last another week. Realizing you’re still there to hear all this, he asks you to keep it a secret.

Aftermath:

If you say yes, Tenna will thank you, saying that he hopes to see his husband home soon as he plans to take the family out for dinner.

If you say no, Tenna will thank you for your honesty at least, telling you that he hopes nothing but the best for a good person like you.

After leaving the dump and saving Undyne from a heat stroke, you will find Spamton on his last round of delivering mail. You’ll have the opportunity to talk to him about his family or fighting, to which he’ll laugh at the latter and say that unlike most Monsters, he’s smart enough to know not to initiate a battle with a stranger.

If you said yes to keeping Tenna’s secret, Spamton will mention that he can’t wait to return home and be on his short-lived merry way in Hotland. Off to the side, he mentions a strange letter addressed to him with no sender address. This is considered the Canceled Episode route.

If you said no to keeping Tenna’s secret, Frisk will automatically tell Spamton at the end of your conversation with him. He’ll laugh it off at first, then immediately run home. This is considered the Final Episode route.

Sans’ Call:

Sans will mention that between you and him, the mailman and him share notes for shortcuts and will always cross paths whenever he uses them. This time, however, he never saw him. Eventually, he found the mailman and his daughter weeping in the dump over a pile of dust. Sans hates to assume, but there’s a reason why Monsters don’t live in the dump, and he finds it strange that the mailman does. Normally, Sans hates taking favors, but he knew the mailman needed help, so he took the job for the mailman to take his time to mourn.

This is silly but I have only one point of confusion with there being only one fallen human: why is Chara white?

it's how they looked while alive, i'd assume. i don't know if i would call the choice to use yellowed skin to represent a sort of necrosis a good one, but it would at least make sense for the game's simpler art style. it would also explain choosing to use an off color like that at all rather than an actual skin tone, to keep it ambiguous what's implied with it. again, i would not call it the best choice of color, just given all of the baggage surrounding it, i'm just trying to quantify it from the way i see it

hibiscia!!! Sorry if youve explained before but is there something specific about reset-remember fics that you hate? I don't really like them either but for me it's just because I feel like a lot of authors type sans in very ooc ways

They're completely antithetical to Sans' character arc for the sake of cheap and easy angst. The nature of his brand of cosmic horror isn't in reliving his life again and again, that's Flowey's. Sans knows OF the anomaly, knows that it's manipulating time and knows it's a threat to the entire universe, but he doesn't know how or why, because he doesn't remember.

And that's crucial! him being mostly in the dark in spite of the MANY warning signs about us... because it's in that doubt that he remains hopeful. YES we could potentially end the world... but what if we don't? yes we have unimaginable power over everyone else and we can bring back time, but what if we're just.... sad? he needs that gap in his knowledge so he can take a leap of faith across it, it's his entire character arc in the pacifist run. sans THINKS he's given up, he wants to have given up, he chose to do it because there's a comfort in that. in contenting yourself with good food and bad laughs. there's peace. but he hasn't given up, not really. on himself? maybe. but not in us.

there's no way to have that arc if he remembers resets.

What if like. In Deltarune, after being separated from Kris and gaining your own voice with the Vessel, you could say something like

i indulge in imagining postcanon above-ground shenanigans for frisk/chara/flowey/etc as much as the next guy. but i think canon’s quieter, more somber closure for the kids will always be more impactful.

So I guess asgore is desperate to find clover or he doesn't know that clover is there, because there is an secret ending in the game that if you decide to kill Ceroba, clover and martlet go to meet asgore and he's shock to see clover there

That's correct! During Clover's time growing up in the Underground, Asgore and by extension the Royal Guard were not aware of the fact that another human child was secretly growing up in the Dunes. There were rumors of a human that had fallen down and simply disappeared since their soul was never captured, but Asgore had no way of knowing these rumors had any actual truth behind them.

Once the Royal Guard's investigation into these rumors turned up nothing (given that Clover spent most of their time in the Dunes area where the Royal Guard doesn't have easy access to) Asgore simply gave up hope and resumed waiting around in his castle, waiting for another human to enter the Underground.

This of course, doesn't mean Clover was entirely off the hook. Even as they aged, they still had to remain very vigilant and careful of where they went in the Underground and who they revealed themselves to, given that an unsavory Monster distrustful of humans could still very well report them to the king...

I love lovelove post pacifist.. it's so much fun I think its fun to explore the characters moving on from being underground and becoming friends. (Toriel befriending grillbys regulars and joining the human fan club for example) and also seeing and exploring the surface. Undyne and alphys online shopping arc.. asgore getting to plant new flowers.. papyrus and sans beach arc.. it's all so good and fun to imagine and fulfills My slice of life sitcom addiction.

Post pacifist if chara hasn't moved onto deltarune then I think they stay with flowey underground, silently keeping him company until frisk convinces him to go to the surface. its such a peak scenario to me. Also when it comes to frisk I think of them as a sort of communal kid where they go as they please when they please, jumping between every monsters house for funsies- normally staying with dogamy & dogaressa because the two old dogs remind frisk of their grandparents :) flowey would hang wherever and explores (and spies) alot, but sticks to frisk following them around- he'd never admit to being there friend though. Uuuhh I have more but their not very fleshed out like gerson and asgore moving in together as roommates or papyrus getting his drivers license..

I think I've made enough art for this "Clover lives, grows up, and marries while remaining Underground" series that I suppose it's now officially an AU of sorts.

Now I just need to find a clever name for it!
