In any other situation, their power would rip through these bindings and they run.

Superspeed, but the doors locked. What now? Put them in a particle accelerator, good luck doing your stupid 'fazing through walls' trick now.

Ice powers? Their partners dying of hypothermia. Stuck in a too hot room. Stuck in an absolute zero room, no way to make it colder. Can't freeze the lock, its already as cold as its going to get.

Heat powers? Same thing, put that fucker in a volcano. Good luck finding your way through 8,000 feet of lava. Or an incinerator, yeah, just try and melt that lock off. Oh whumpee? They have a fever and your emotions are haywire, hope you can get that water to them without it evaporating.

Superstrength? Fighting a cotton powered villain. What are they gonna do, punch their way through pillows?

It's so fun.

It's funny if its for mundane things too.

Yeah, of course superstrength can move your entire apartment belongs in one trip. What's that? You want help building a bookshelf from Wal-Mart. They've never seen a screwdriver in their life.

You want a coffee run? Okay, but you better fine with no coffee left in the cup afterward. Just because they can run faster than light, doesn't mean liquid stops obeying physics.

Want the lights a different color? Just ask. You want them to fix the wiring in your remote? Why would they know anything about that?

Fun. The possibilities of powers being absolutely useless in everyday life is just good soup to me.

"Hector was a good man" "diomedes was an honorable man" BZZZT WRONG. Diomedes was there to steal, burn, and wage war same as the next person. In fact, he was pretty adamant about it. Hector had no issue with the greek's actions, merely that they were directed at him—I mean look at what he wanted to do with patroclus's body, only to then cite respect for funeral rites when it was his own turn to die. Hector also owned slaves within his own city walls—people that he likely took from their homes during troy's own conquests. All that seperated him and the greek warriors was which side they were on.

The Iliad isn't a story about morally upstanding men. Sure, it has men who have honor and perform honorable acts, but these are not good samaritans. It's is a story about war and grief and the real victims of fights between so-called-honorable men and gods. The urge to find a "good guy" in this story is wasted. Hector doesn't have to be morally good just because achilles isn't. Troy didn't lose because they were more or less evil than the greeks. It all just. Is. Because of fate? Because the gods said so? Because people will always make disastrous mistakes and it will always end up biting not only them, but everyone else around them? Who knows? In the end though, doesn't it all feel so pointless in the face of the endless amounts of grief and destruction that war leaves behind? Maybe that's the whole point

My favorite Arcane character is and forever shall be Ekko (best boy). Other faves are Viktor (chronic illness baby) and Jinx (trauma gremlin).

As for the S1 scene... Besides the finale and that breathtaking Guns for Hire sequence? The Ekko/Jinx fight from ep 7. It broke me. (And turned me into a Timebomb shipper. Which was arguably worse.)

When I was first playing though white palace, I had a glitch where in that room with a bench just above the first fly parkour section and below the big room with loads of sawblades, I was on the bench and still moving while in the charm menu? I don’t have footage cause it was deleted somehow

Sounds like bench storage! i.e., keeping the state of being on a bench while not actually on it. There are a lot of ways of getting it, mostly ones that involve messing with quick map, but you can get it with hazard early control too. It's hard to say how you got it without a video, but here's one way I could see someone getting it accidentally:

[Video ID: Gameplay footage of the player in White Palace. The player falls on top of a Wingmould to get double hit into thorns and immediately dashes to the bench and opens inventory. They begin moving around off of the bench, still in a sitting state with inventory open, and equip a few charms. Their inventory automatically closes as they enter the room above. They go through the first platforming section of the room, then begin charging Crystal Heart on one of the platforms but open inventory and let go of Crystal Heart before it's fully charged. They equip a few more charms and overcharm Hiveblood with their jump key, and can be seen jumping up and down behind the charm menu as they spam the button. /End ID]

If you closed inventory and left the sitting state before you entered another room, the effects of the glitch wouldn't persist. As you can see, leaving the room with inventory open would have let the state persist indefinitely (until you bench next that is).

The persistent version of bench storage has some funny effects like letting you equip charms while off of the bench, but you're also in a glitched state where you can softlock just by opening inventory. Opening inventory always takes away control, but with bench storage, the game doesn't know to give it back. That's why I charge cdash before opening inventory towards the end, and then release it to tell the game to give control back. Fun stuff!

Random theory for why in canon (not talking about the VA) Ras voice is different from DR part 1 to later.

In Part 1, while he was still in Imperium, he had to build up a menacing reputation for himself. Thus, the deeper and more growly voice.

But later, in Part 2 and onwards, he doesn't have to do that as much, as he doesn't have as much social power as he did then. And even when he's talking to Jordana, he doesn't have to be as threatening to her, but more generous, as he's offering her a chance to use what she extracted from the source dragon. Plus, that reputation he previously had, is still somewhat there.

after i beat norman and got surf, i backtracked and fought every trainer i could before route 119, picked up items, etc, and both cereal and muffin ended up at a clean level 40 from that endeavor so here’s an update!

cereal’s hidden power type is bug, which, while physical, hits dark types that he otherwise wouldn’t be able to hit. so that’s fun. these movesets might be tweaked in the future, but honestly they’re working out really well for me right now

the thing about azula is she's also a victim of abuse she bought into her father's ideology because she was rewarded for doing so (and she has some funny thoughts about divine right to rule) and explicitly gains power both in the context of her society and mentally by torturing her brother ("you can't treat me like this you can't treat me like zuko")

which is to say the show depicts azula and zuko has fundamentally different from a young age (and zuko's inherent goodness is his main source of conflict for most of the show) and i appreciate that the show doesn't go out of its way to show sympathy or explain its abusers, even when azula is given her moments, it's not to make her more sympathetic, and i think the show is aware that azula has benefited from being a natural prodigy who aligns herself with fire nation ideology, but it's clear by the end that ozai treats her as no less a tool or extension of himself than he does zuko

which is also to say her final battle between katara and zuko is my favorite part of the show hands down i find it beautiful and the music makes me tear up and when she is defeated and sobbing and completely undone, it's my favorite part of the show. azula has spent so much of her time and energy into currying favor with her abusive father, putting herself into a position of power, and to be undone by her brother who she views as inferior to her in every way and some waterbending peasant i think it must just break her worldview. everything she's done up to that moment, it was the wrong move, and zuko is now the one on top

anyway i think the show has a lot of interesting things to say about power and those who wield it, and i think azula's relationship with power, both under it and exerting it herself, is a really interesting one, and as a foil to zuko, she works really well in showing that even aligning oneself with power despite or because of circumstances is ultimately a fruitless task, and those in power will keep moving the goal posts as you try to get ahead
