ppl should lean into the video game aspects of tsp more

have the narrator complain about how crummy of an engine source is and wishing they were trapped in unreal or something.

2011-2013 tsp was in source (so was portal), while minecraft is java, 2022 tsp:ud and firewatch are in unity, and rocket league is in unreal. i think stanley would be able to feel the small differences between each.

like, source deals with lighting really badly and doesn’t do well with open areas, while (i think) unity and unreal are great at those. stanley would get a feeling of uncanny valley when he first leaves source.

physics objects are also treated differently, so the way stanley’s clothes lay on him would probably be different and cause some discomfort

i just wanted an excuse to talk about this head canon again. it adore it and it’s so cool to think about

I’m surprised people don’t often talk about this aspect of their dynamic (at least I haven’t seen anyone aside from mutuals talk about it in recent months) despite being one of the biggest stables about it imo. the way that despite the narrator’s claim of found companionship in stanley, he can so easily turn the other way in favor of his story. and Stanley’s constant need to move forward additionally affecting the story in ways the narrator does not want. It’s just such an interesting dynamic of two people, who can both affectively alter the course of a story, play an intense game of tug of war. it’s a constant spoken and unspoken argument of two people consistently butting heads. ITS WHAT MAKES THEIR DYNAMIC INTERESTING IN THE FIRST PLACE SHAKES SHAKES SHAKES. so people barely acknowledging it in recent times does make me a bit sad tbh. like it’s so good?? it makes me so unwell.

watching jse's tspud playthru videos again n since ive been in a dbh hyperfixation revisit, ive had the idea of narry being an android but sean got to the bucket and theres the idea of the bucket being a stand in character for the narrator to talk through to stanley (like in the bucket freedom ending its the narrator framing being trapped in the office forever as okay so long as they have each other) but in this android au idea whatever its called thing, imagine if a bucket is similar to what ppl consider androids, like a tool made of metal designed to fufill a task (coughs in "tin can"), with the narrator and the curator being androids, both made to fufil a task (narrating and being a museum curator) but in the museum bucket ending they frame buckets as tools that can be both dangerous yet beneficial to humanity, and the whole "the hanging bucket" instalation stating that its meant to show the 'needed' seperation of buckets and humanity yet its that instalation where sTANLEY GETS TO THE BUCKET REGARDLESS I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS MAKES SENSE AND THIS ISNT A FULLY PUT TOGETHER TJOUGHT BUT DOES SOMEONE UNDERSTAND MY VISION

My brain worms are at work again in so I wanna ramble a bit

Narrator also being an employee at the building Stanley works at is SUCH a cool theory I need more ppl to talk about it

ESPECIALLY because his apparent “office” which in show in a official video (where is The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe? by the way) is the office number 003 and a Stanley is inside office number 002 in a trailer for TSPUD (The game awards trailer) and that part of the building seems completely abandoned !

So abandoned in fact that it takes Narrator a while to get there ! I tried finding it while walking around but infortunaly I couldn’t and also i don’t have the ability to clip trough the game, but, going back to the game awards trailer, the place is dark, old (still has energy tho) and apparently there is no attention given to that part of the building which would make sense given it is not techincally imporant to the story, and I like to think that these parts of the place would never be taken care of.

But the place we see is not not like that at all, it's bright someone definitely was there recently, but also it's not where it's suppoosed to be? it's completely separated and I migh even say it's in the same place you would see the scape pod or the things we see when goin down the elevator

the things I see in the are definitely not something I would say "aha! this is why this belongs to Narrator and I'm right" it's mostly things I see and I go "Yep this is something I can see Narrator doing for sure" specially those doodles on the whiteboard. I just think it's so interesting to think about !

All TSP theories need special love and attention because this game is simply amazing for things like this

I know technically that you’ve put a pause on repeat this story au BUT…I just got hit with a particular delicious thought…soooo the latest Stanley that Narrator is helping along when Stanley and Co come to get Narrator (pending nickname is Stanford for now) is a particular brand of stubbornness that can rival the other Stanleys - he’s petty, full of spite, and quite fecking done with this shite. It doesn’t help that his own narrator (Narraford) is equally spiteful of his wayward protagonist. (1/???)

(2/??) Building on ur post from before that mentioned the escape pod only fitting 2 ppl at a time, Stan somehow convinces Narraford to comply taking Stanford and freeing them. How? Weeeelll the thing is they both loved pushing each other’s buttons (lol). Stanfords whole deal is that he wasn’t happy with the freedom ending bc he wants to find out WHY the facility is built, who trapped him there, were his co-workers/memories real? And Narraford is fecking upset that his protagonist keeps going off the irrelevant path to try and find more answers, why can’t he just be happy escaping and finding freedom??? He doesn’t NEED to find out the mystery of the office, that’s not the point of the story Stanford!! (3/??) then what was the point? Stan asks, gently. Why write this ending for the protagonist if he doesn’t want it? And that stumps Narraford for a moment. For all his blustering about how perfect his Parable was, what was the point if the audience he wrote it for wasn’t too happy with it? Granted this should be taken with a grain of salt BUT this moment of reflection is just enough for Stan to continue - Stanford just wanted to solve the mystery. He wanted to know what the Parable is. That didn’t sound like someone who isn’t following the story out of spite, doesn’t it? (4/??) in fact he sounds pretty invested in the story! Stan concludes. (Meanwhile Stanford is trying his very best to not strangle - or at least slap a hand over the other’s mouth - bc that was true but he didn’t have to say it/sign it godammit!!!) and Narraford would hate to admit it but they both shared a hunger to know. That was one thing binding them together, for all of their animosity (fun fact: their fav ending is Countdown. Don’t judge me). Like, he still thinks his protagonist is a brat and Stanford hates Narrafords guts but the curiosity of a new ending has Narraford hooked, so in the end he reluctantly agrees to come with Stanford on the first escape pod flight (5/5) i have some other brain worms about them but long story short I went ‘wouldn’t it be funny if they disliked each other but didn’t want anyone else bc they’re at least familiar with each other’ and turned it into a prompt thing (that being said it is by no means of trying to write ur story!! I thought it would be fun to submit a Stanley lol)

no no this is great! and it's a really good read on a narrator and stanley relationship, in that they still NEED each other and dont want anybody else, which is such a fixed thing in the Parable. like all the other narrators we've struggled with so far either tried to really push the idea they DONT need stanley or they just abuse their connection to the point where that need is.... like, not the healthy choice.

it's REALLY HARD to convince a narrator to consider his protagonist's own needs and thoughts but honestly if anyone could do it, it would be Stan. I love him SO much.

and honestly I have no issue with you making the "last" stanley and narrator in the iteration hell, I had some ideas but they were pretty vague at best, mostly a matter of "the Narrator is going to VERY MUCH BE A POWERHOUSE at the point just to make this iteration realize he uh. should probably give them half a second to talk".

I also think theres a hilarity in finally giving this one the name Stanford, since he's endlessly curious and picking fights with beings much more powerful with him because he needs to know all the things. Alright Stanford Pines. we're making all these stanleys watch Gravity Falls later to point and laugh

I only had one tsp au, which was the clown trials au. So I needed a new au, because I already had a drawing with the clown trials in mind. So I made this au, a sappy stupid au. Where Stanley and Narrator just live their lives and grow old together. Based off a will wood song, becoming the lastnames. I've never drawn Narrator as human, and this will be my last time doing so /hj. Incase you're wondering Narrator is actually just a man named William and he's 63. ( his name is super long, but that's his narrator self not this one ). Stanley is 42, and he is with William. I hope you guys enjoy this one, I enjoyed drawing it. Hah this is also the first and last time I'll ever actually put effort into the dreaded ship that is stannarrator /hj (i have to do this like 2 more times fucking kill me I HATE gay ppl /j )

This might sound weird to some ppl bc I was heavily associated with TSPcc

To be frank I wouldn’t be where I am right now, if not TSPcc: I would’ve never stuck with The Stanley Parable for as long as I did, never could’ve met so many wonderful creative people (many of whom are my friends right now)

+the server kick-started my recognition as a creator

For that I’m thankful and still look back at this part of my life with a warm smile

But nothing can last forever

(god I’m saying it like something horrible happened, which is not the case)

Basically

The reasons are mostly the same as why I left the TNP fic*: I’m not active on the server + most of my friends left from there

(*TNP - The Narrative Parable fanfic – a collaborative project involving many other creators and narrators)

So um yea, this might not be enough of a reason

But I will not do a whole comic on “The history of TSP fandom” right 📓🖋️

I totally understand people who just don’t want to be a part of the fandom, it’s reasonable and valid. I’ve heard some really messed up stuff, I don’t know the full extent of every situation and don’t want to discuss it. I don’t believe I have the right, nor the information to even mention it. Creeps are not a fandom’s problem, creeps are just a problem.

And if people don’t want to address those situations: do not harass them with questions. If people want to address their experience or thoughts, they will. If they don’t want to start drama/don’t feel comfortable/just simply don’t want to - you should respect their decision. No person is obligated to report anything to the crowd.

i’m new to the stanley parable fandom, can i have some explanation on who some of these people are? i’ve played the game alot i just have no idea who some of these ppl are besides the narrator and stanley

The only other canon characters are Mariella and The Curator. Mariella is a woman briefly mentioned by the Narrator. She finds Stanley dead on the sidewalk in one of the endings. The Curator, or “the female Narrator” as some people call her (I don’t because of a personal headcanon) is an unknown entity with the ability to Narrate the Narrator. They bring Stanley to the museum and talk about how meaningless the entire repeating cycle of the game is.

Now if you’re talking about the characters that are on my blog related to the Stanley Parable that’s another story. First of all, idk if this was something you were confused about, but I figure it’s worth clarifying if you’re new that I draw the Narrator in two separate ways. I felt my original design for him might not work in a more realistic setting and I think it’s neat to put him and Stanley in a setting like that.

There’s also Juliet! She’s not canon she’s a kid I made. She’s essentially Stanley’s “daughter” but also… she’s not. It’s intentionally confusing and vague lol. She’s a mystery.

If I completely missed the point and you meant some other characters um just message me again I’d be happy to clarify.
