In the music business it is said that Gaffa Tape (whic is used for every purpose imaginable!) is like the "Force" ...it has a light and a dark side and binds the universe together.

The Gaffa tape on this light switch is the result of a strange tale. Before this building was a museum it was a Bar for some years. It was said that the basement was haunted by a sailor ghost with a penchant for the ladies! When the museum moved in, I guess the sailor ghost wasn't that bothered by another bearded bloke in the building ...I never saw, heard or felt his presence but I did have trouble with him turning the lights on at night. This was happening on a regular basis until I placed Gaffa tape over the light switch. The nocturnal switching on of the lights stopped immediately. Amongst its other properties, Gaffa tape appears to be "Ghost proof"!

my neverending quest to draw one single Idia that I don't immediately hate

While I have Many Thoughts on the plan to convince the gods to go mortal, most of which others have already addressed at length (mainly how the fuck is this going to work in practice in both the long and short run, and also really cool idea but could’ve been set up better), I haven’t seen anyone bring up how this particular solution may actually bring a chance at change and growth for the gods that has so far been withheld from them.

Because, until now, the pantheon as a whole has been sort of - stuck. They went from beings of endless possibility in Tengar to being distillied and calcified through trauma into a single trait, the domains of which they became gods. The primes and betrayers aren't different sides of a war but a family locked in a struggle that will never be resolved because neither side will ever relent, nor are they either truly willing or capable of (being immortal) killing each other. They seem incapable of truly changing, and several of them (notably the Arch Heart and the Raven Queen) have expressed simply being tired. They don’t necessarily want to die, but they recognize a need for change, just that they themselves can't be the instigators of it.

The god debate hasn’t really taken this into account, though the overhanging shadow of it has been growing heavier since downfall. The kill-all-gods side obviously has no reason to care whether the gods are locked in endless misery (other than using it as an additional excuse for murder), but the save-all-gods side isn't any more helpful when it comes to this particular issue. Saving the gods won’t heal them.

Maybe becoming mortal (however many, many issues that brings with it) could actually allow them to become whole as people the way mortals are, no longer as strictly tied to their domains. Now that the entirety of Exandria no longer rests on them playing nice, maybe they can find a way to resolve their family feud (through blood or reconciliation). Perhaps, as mortals, they can even eventually even find a way to live a full, final life and find rest at the end of it.

Then Vaugarde turns on the Saviors for harboring the one half responsible for the curse.

And then imagine Siffrin spends a lot of time learning more Wish Craft and finds a way to go back in time to stop himself from helping the king in the first place.

Buuuut of course he has a crisis because that means he'll lose his family as they are now but also he kinda did kill a bunch of people and mess up an entire country sooOoooOOoo

But theennn Isa or Odile catches wind of what Sif is trying to do and the fam manages to secretly tweak his wish so their memories are transported back with them too.

and idk they go back looking like loop or another star creature and hunt themself down to stop them from meeting/helping the king. The fam has to find him before he spirals too far.

its very late and my brain is going all over the place with this. Maybe he finds the king and is about to kill him but his past self walks in and is like uhhh and then they fight and stops him from killing their other self.

Loop is there too maybe idk and the king gets redemption too i guess?

There are tons of tools and techniques to help people like us! Knitting can be done with little plastic loops called markers that help you keep count row by row. With embroidery, you can sew guidelines right into the fabric and just pick them out when the piece is finished.

genuinely insane how if you don't know you're autistic sometimes you go like 25 years of your life just thinking you're evil because you randomly get mad you have to speak out loud to other human beings. and you think you're lazy for having to lie on the couch alone like one day per week. the accommodations can be so simple and yet you do not think you're allowed and in fact don't even realize it's what you need so you go to like therapists and try to push through and be better and the Entire fucking time it would have solved half your problems just to like. lie down and be quiet.

This emerged in the middle of writing up thoughts on Ciri and Avallac'h based on the books alone.

The Witcher’s theme of choice and destiny is complicated by psychological barriers – one must be emotionally ready to accept the way the dice can fall.

Interestingly, Avallac’h’s rejection mirrors how Lara rejected the plans for her destiny. His rejection of Ciri's offer ironically puts him in the position of resisting destiny – the very 'crime' he condemned Lara for committing.

Elves had plans for Lara – to stay and have special children. She rejected this. Elven goals were upended.

For Ciri, Avallac’h has orchestrated a destiny, but when Ciri gets sick of the official programme not working out and offers herself to him directly – effectively suggesting getting the goal they want faster – she gets rebuked. She’s creating an unexpected path to achieving the elves’ goals; one where she shows agency in choosing the father.

In poetic justice, Avallac’h is mirroring Lara’s rejection of the elves’ plans: the man who spent centuries judging Lara for prioritizing personal choice over racial destiny ends up making essentially the same choice, but from the opposite side of the equation. In rejecting Ciri's offer at that point, he implicitly asserts that the manner in which destiny unfolds matters, not just the outcome.

Avallac’h, however, seems blind to this parallel between himself and Lara.

This suggests though, that perhaps Avallac'h's centuries of resentment toward Lara concealed a deeper, unacknowledged understanding of her choice – one that surfaces in his own moment of revelation. You cannot force it if you are not ready for it, but avoiding it will bring consequences. The sword of destiny is double-edged.

Sapkowski often structures his narrative so as to force characters to confront their own contradictions, often without them fully recognizing the pattern they’re repeating or inverting.
