aw yay! Here's a bunch more OC questions sent my way by @wulff20ko <3
promt description: Questions about two of your original characters about their relationship. Should work for friends/lovers/coworkers/enemies/etc, maybe not so much for family, but you're welcome to try!
Answering all of these for Margie and Raf again lmao
1) How did they meet?
Like this!
2) How long have these two characters known each other?
Since 2008..! I think the last piece of Hi-Note writing that currently exists takes place in 2014. So–six years over the span of their story so far.
3) What were their first impressions of each other? How does that compare to their impressions of each other now?
Raf thought Margie was a bit strange and ditzy, and she rubbed him as a pathological humble-bragger at first–which was…really unattractive to him lmfao. He initially kinda pulled at that thread in the interest of seeing the whole thing quickly unravel only to discover that she’s legitimately some manner of undiscovered genius who has absolutely no idea just how incredible she is.
Margie thought Raf was a charismatic player “says that to all the girls” sort–with some shade of mental illness that made it all feel a little too uncanny to be fully effective. She was technically right, but quite differently from what she initially thought lmao.
Nowadays, Raf knows Margie is his superior in several avenues; she’s a smarter, faster learner, an adaptable problem solver, a far more brilliant musician, and the most genuine, kindest, patient person he’s ever known.
And Margie knows now that the guy she met in the train station was a fictional character that Raf employed to stand between himself and the threat of forming meaningful relationships. The real Raf is a quiet, anxious, isolated pessimist buoyed by the hope that he isn’t the only person in the world who wants to do well by others.
3) How would they describe each other if asked? Physically? In personality?
Raf: “Margie? She’s brilliant, she’s sweet. You won’t meet a more incredible person.”
Margie: “Raf’s a huge dork with a dorkier smirk and you just kinda gotta treat him like a cat if you want to make a good impression on him. Y’know like–just sorta ignore him, let him come to you first.”
4) Do they get along? Why or why not?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
5) Do they have any shared interests/hobbies? Do they ever do these hobbies together?
Pretty much most things, these days. Music, walks, rock flipping at low tide… If Margie does anything, she prefers doing them with him. Good experiences are best shared!
6) How often do they see each other? Where do they usually meet?
Well, initially it was just every Thursday for jam sessions. And then Raf started inviting Margie to crash at his place. Now they live and work together.
7) How do they communicate with each other? Are there any recurring phrases or gestures unique to their relationship?
Their relationship only exists as it does because of how they communicate with each other. They’ve developed a lot of little shorthand gestures to indicate to one another that things are good and there’s nothing to worry about, such as here. But there are also clear signals they provide when one needs some space or time alone, or if hugs are in order, and other such things. They’ve established a baseline understanding that when they are mad, it is never at each other–and have agreed not to assume that just because one of them is upset, it’s because they’re upset at the other specifically. The person who is upset will always take the time to explain what upset them, once they are able to properly articulate it. Until then, the priority is making sure they get the space or whatever they need to calm down and process what they’re feeling and why.   If they were unable to establish free and easy modes of communication with one another, where they don’t put each other on trial, on the spot to immediately defend their behaviour in the heat of a moment, but give each other the space and grace to process and discuss things under calmer, less volatile circumstances, the wheels would fall off this relationship real quickly, real dramatically.
8) What is one quality they have in common?
They love music! They love playing music–together!
9) What is one major difference between them?
Margie is a very rosy optimist, and Raf is a very calculating pessimist.
10) Does one act as a narrative foil to the other? How so?
Yeah, It’s very puppy and cat. Raf’s long established career and jaded burnout vs Margie’s nascent/struggling career and bright-eyed, passionate energy. Margie’s willingness to trust and believe the best in people, vs Raf’s pathological mistrust/suspicion and the constant threats he sees hidden in the actions and words of all those around him. Margie’s ability to bounce back from failures and adapt to challenges–it’s all a learning process for her, vs Raf's stubborn rigidity and unwillingness to compromise–failure is devastating for him. Raf helps Margie keep her feet on her ground so that she can make more purposeful strides towards her goals. Margie helps drag Raf out of his paralyzing anxiety spirals, and keeps his creeping cynicism at bay.
11) Do they have any affection for each other? How do they show it?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
12) Do they have any disdain/contempt for each other? How do they show it?
oooh…Raf, at his worst, can feel quite overwhelmed with resentment towards Margie for how much sway she has over his feelings of worth and wellbeing. At times when he feels like she fails to understand how her actions can dictate his moods, and fails to behave in a manner sensitive to this [it’s very mercurial and unpredictable what exactly this entails–what sets him off], it’s really tempting–and it feels wholly just–to lash out just to make her feel a fraction of the discomfort/hurt he’s feeling, as way of some kind of punishment. Instead, he gets really quiet and withdrawn, sometimes for a week or two. Margie understands this as “mental health is happening at him” and takes care to stay well out of his way until he’s wrestled control of his narratives again.
Margie’s got nothing but love in her heart for Raf.
13) Do they share the same goals in life?
Yeah! They just wanna be comfy, and loved, and make good music together. Everything to do and build together is towards that shared goal.
14) Do they trust each other? Why or why not?
They do.   Margie’s a given, she trusts everyone.
Raf, though, has vacillated pretty wildly between wanting to trust her by trying to brute force fake that trust until he believed it–and not trusting her at all. However, the morning she basically returned from the dead to come shambling back home to him in one piece–cemented his trust in her. He thought she had died and, in her concussed state, she was just sorry that she took so long to get back, and wanted to know if they can still play music together. He still has hiccups and moments of panic about the honesty of her relationship with him and such–but so long as he can recall the sheer relief he felt when he held her, and the absolute heartbreak she delivered to him thereafter by way of concussed murmerings–it’s irrefutable to him that she loves him very dearly and that she’ll always be there. Come hell or literal high-water.
15) Is one of them keeping secrets from the other? Why? How would they react if the secret was revealed?
Not anymore, no.   Initially, Raf had only explained to Margie that he had PTSD. All of his paranoid behaviours and such were swept under that as their explanation. Once things had become quite a bit more serious between the two of them, Raf’s Uncle asserted that Margie was eventually gonna have to know about and understand the challenges of his paranoid personality disorder. And after some gentle coaxing about that, Raf finally relented to ask his uncle to talk to Margie about it for him–because if it was left to Raf to do it himself, it wouldn’t…go well, if it ever happened at all.
Margie had dated a guy with schizophrenia during her time in Winnipeg, and so there wasn’t really a big scary stigma that needed to be dispelled. The schizophrenia of her previous relationship had been such a non-issue compared to what she otherwise might have expected, that it maybe gave her the idea that Raf’s PD would similarly pose no major challenges. Eehhhh…she was a little off base with that assumption, but she got up to speed on all of it eventually, and it’s mostly fine. At the very least, it didn’t change her opinion of Raf at all, and any drama that accompanied the reveal was hosted exclusively in Raf’s poor brain.
16) Are they keeping a secret together? How do they feel about that?
Yeah lmao Raf’s PD is no one’s business but their own. Of the people still alive, Margie, Nels, and his therapist (and Tess) are the only people who are aware of Raf’s PD. The rest of the guys at Hi-Note know he has PTSD, but that’s it.
17) Do they view their relationship as temporary or permanent?
Use to be temporary, until the temporary part of their relationship was almost exercised–and now it’s as permanent as a relationship can be lmao
18) Are they satisfied with their relationship? Do they wish they were closer/more distant?
There’s always things they are working towards together, but they’re both very happy with their relationship, generally.
19) What is their best memory together?
Oh nooo there’s so much lmfao. I think they both look back on their first year in Cortes Island very very fondly–as kind of a turning point where their lives together became a pretty ironclad thing. It was forged in fire the entire year prior, and they stuck it through–and suddenly things were easy and calm and nice again, and it just…strengthened everything quite beautifully.
20) What is their worst memory together?
That whooole year before they arrived in Cortes Island lmao. Uncle Bills death and dealing with his estate was the most difficult test their relationship will even endure, I think.
21) When were they the most vulnerable with each other?
Hm, this is hard, they’re vulnerable with each other pretty well all the time. Again though, the most vulnerable moments were probably during that year of grieving and dealing with Bill’s estate. Raf had basically hit a melting point and was largely incapacitated for much of the latter half, and it culminated with Margie admitting she couldn’t take care of things like he needed her to. I think they both thought the other was gonna leave, because things had stopped being fun and enjoyable, and they couldn’t carry each other out of it or provide what the other person obviously needed. Raf was just waiting for Margie to get sick and tired enough to walk, but Margie was wrecking herself on the terror that he would feel irreparably let down by her if she failed to adequately carry his burden for him when he needed her the most. In the end, Margie’s breakdown and her fear of not being and doing enough for him is what galvanized Raf to get his shit together just enough to put some real, physical distance between them and all the garbage that had piled up on them. A move that Margie had suggested months earlier, but Raf had been too stubborn/overwhelmed to properly consider at the time.
22) Do they have any mutual friends? Mutual enemies?
All of Raf’s friends are Margie’s friends (he only really has two aside from her and Tess)–but not all of Margie’s friends are Raf’s friends. No mutual enemies, either. Solely because Margie doesn’t have anyone she’d describe as an enemy haha. Maybe Raf’s mom…but Margie has never met her, so it feels weird. She greatly dislikes everything she’s heard about the woman, though.
23) How do these two interact with each other in public versus in private?
In public, you might think they’re just really close friends. Margie and Raf don’t engage in any explicitly romantic displays of affection in public–largely because Raf is very uncomfortable about it.
In private, they’re in each other’s space a lot of the time, and fill silences with the occasional sappy call-and-responses that are all some shade of “guess what?” “what?” “I love you.” “Woah, I love you too–weird!” Sometimes the words they string together to carry this sentiment between each other are absolute nonsense…but they know what it means. They’re also just very content to be in the same room together, quietly doing their own thing and otherwise ignoring each other in perfect comfort.
24) If a stranger saw them together, how would they describe their relationship?
“They seem like really good friends! They’re working together quite well!”
25) How would these characters react to being stuck in a small room with each other?
Stuck? Well…They’d try to figure out what the deal is. And if it’s like…a busted elevator situation or something, Raf wouldn’t pause for levity until the situation was under control. But once it’s just a matter of waiting for things to become unstuck again, He and Margie would sit in each other's space and pass the time musing and joking to one another. They just enjoy each other’s company, generally.
26) How far would they go for each other? Would they risk their own lives for each other?
Margie would crawl out of Davy Jones's coldest locker for Raf lmao
Raf would walk into oncoming traffic for Margie.
But more than that, both of them would endeavor to live their healthiest, happiest lives for each other.

Cracking the Code: Unveiling the Myths of Software Testing
Quality assurance (QA) and software testing are vital for a product's success. Yet, misunderstandings and myths about software testing frequently lead to confusion regarding its actual purpose and significance. To clarify this, we will explore some prevalent myths in software testing and reveal the facts that highlight the essential role of QA engineers in the development process, illustrated with examples from popular movies.
Myth 1: The only task of a tester is to find bugs.
Fact: QA engineers are more than just "bug hunters." They are proactive problem solvers who work to prevent issues. Imagine The Matrix (1999)—Neo isn’t just fighting Agent Smith, he’s understanding the software itself, learning its complexities, and finding ways to overcome its limitations. Likewise, QA engineers at XLNC Technologies immerse themselves in the software ecosystem, detecting flaws and ensuring the system performs seamlessly. Their goal is not just to find the bug but to optimize the entire user experience.
Myth 2: Software becomes bug-free after testing.
Fact: Perfection is a myth, much like the idea of a bug-free software. Even after extensive testing, flaws can emerge post-release. Think about Jurassic Park (1993)—despite thorough planning and development, unforeseen issues arose after the park was operational. Continuous testing and post-release support are crucial to keep things running smoothly, just as ongoing adjustments are necessary to control the dinosaurs. XLNC Technologies understands this reality, which is why continuous testing and monitoring are integral to every project.
Myth 3: Testing is too expensive.
Fact: Testing may seem costly, but skipping it leads to even bigger financial consequences. This mirrors Apollo 13 (1995), where the cost of cutting corners could have resulted in catastrophic failure. The engineers on the ground didn’t just fix the problem after it happened—they planned extensively to prevent disaster. Similarly, investing in quality testing early on is a safeguard, preventing much larger problems down the line. XLNC Technologies follows a proactive testing approach, ensuring cost-effective solutions that save businesses from expensive failures.
Myth 4: Testing is just about creating documentation.
Fact: Documentation is simply a tool for tracking progress—it’s not the heart of the process. Much like in The Social Network (2010), where the initial ideas for Facebook were documented, the real success came from continuously evolving, testing, and improving the platform. QA engineers do more than create reports; they apply real-world testing methodologies, interact with development teams, and make continuous improvements to ensure success, just as Facebook grew and adapted to its users’ needs.
Myth 5: Testing is just clicking random buttons.
Fact: Testing is a strategic, methodical process, not random clicking. Think of Inception (2010)—just as Cobb and his team meticulously build dream worlds, QA engineers carefully plan each step of their testing. Every interaction with the software is intentional, much like the layers of dreams in the movie, ensuring that all possible user actions are accounted for and tested with precision.
Myth 6: Testers are only involved after development is complete.
Fact: Late involvement of testers often leads to major issues, just like in The Avengers (2012), when the team was only brought together after Loki had already begun his invasion. The earlier the testers are involved, the better they can understand the system, identify potential risks, and collaborate to ensure a smoother project flow. Involving testers early in the development phase leads to fewer surprises and greater overall project success.
Myth 7: Test automation eliminates the need for manual testing.
Fact: Automation is a powerful tool but can’t replace the human touch in testing. In Iron Man (2008), Tony Stark’s suit represents high-level automation, but without Tony’s critical thinking and intuition, it wouldn’t be nearly as effective. Similarly, automated testing can handle repetitive tasks, but only human QA engineers can evaluate the user experience, design, and nuanced functionality. Automation is a helpful ally, but it’s the human insight that elevates the product.
The Real Purpose of Software Testing
At its core, software testing is not just about finding bugs—it’s about ensuring that the product delivers a seamless, positive experience for the end-user. Bugs can cause significant damage, like financial losses or security breaches, and QA engineers are the guardians against these risks. Think of them as the Ghostbusters (1984) of the tech world—protecting users from unseen dangers that could wreak havoc if left unchecked.
Just like in the movies, where heroes step in to save the day, QA professionals ensure that software functions smoothly, safeguarding businesses from potential disasters. Every test case, every examination is a step toward building a robust, reliable, and user-friendly product. And while no software is perfect, continuous testing and improvement are the keys to success. XLNC Technologies champions this approach, helping businesses build high-quality, failure-proof software.
So, don’t be misled by the myths—embrace the true value of testing, because every great product needs its heroes behind the scenes.

David Darmofal SM ’91, PhD ’93 named vice chancellor for undergraduate and graduate education
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/david-darmofal-sm-91-phd-93-named-vice-chancellor-for-undergraduate-and-graduate-education/
David Darmofal SM ’91, PhD ’93 named vice chancellor for undergraduate and graduate education
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David L. Darmofal SM ’91, PhD ’93 will serve as MIT’s next vice chancellor for undergraduate and graduate education, effective Feb. 17. Chancellor Melissa Nobles announced Darmofal’s appointment today in a letter to the MIT community.
Darmofal succeeds Ian A. Waitz, who stepped down in May to become MIT’s vice president for research, and Daniel E. Hastings, who has been serving in an interim capacity.
A creative innovator in research-based teaching and learning, Darmofal is the Jerome C. Hunsaker Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Since 2017, he and his wife Claudia have served as heads of house at The Warehouse, an MIT graduate residence.
“Dave knows the ins and outs of education and student life at MIT in a way that few do,” Nobles says. “He’s a head of house, an alum, and the parent of a graduate. Dave will bring decades of first-hand experience to the role.”
“An MIT education is incredibly special, combining passionate students, staff, and faculty striving to use knowledge and discovery to drive positive change for the world,” says Darmofal. “I am grateful for this opportunity to play a part in supporting MIT’s academic mission.”
Darmofal’s leadership experience includes service from 2008 to 2011 as associate and interim department head in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, overseeing undergraduate and graduate programs. He was the AeroAstro director of digital education from 2020 to 2022, including leading the department’s response to remote learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. He currently serves as director of the MIT Aerospace Computational Science and Engineering Laboratory and is a member of the Center for Computational Science and Engineering (CCSE) in the MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing.
As an MIT faculty member and administrator, Darmofal has been involved in designing more flexible degree programs, developing open digital-learning opportunities, creating first-year advising seminars, and enhancing professional and personal development opportunities for students. He also contributed his expertise in engineering pedagogy to the development of the Schwarzman College of Computing’s Common Ground efforts, to address the need for computing education across many disciplines.
“MIT students, staff, and faculty share a common bond as problem solvers. Talk to any of us about an MIT education, and you will get an earful on not only what we need to do better, but also how we can actually do it. The Office of the Vice Chancellor can help bring our community of problem solvers together to enable improvements in our academics,” says Darmofal.
Overseeing the academic arm of the Chancellor’s Office, the vice chancellor’s portfolio is extensive. Darmofal will lead professionals across more than a dozen units, covering areas such as recruitment and admissions, financial aid, student systems, advising, professional and career development, pedagogy, experiential learning, and support for MIT’s more than 100 graduate programs. He will also work collaboratively with many of MIT’s student organizations and groups, including with the leaders of the Undergraduate Association and the Graduate Student Council, and administer the relationship with the graduate student union.
“Dave will be a critical part of my office’s efforts to strengthen and expand critical connections across all areas of student life and learning,” Nobles says. She credits the search advisory group, co-chaired by professors Laurie Boyer and Will Tisdale, in setting the right tenor for such an important role and leading a thorough, inclusive process.
Darmofal’s research is focused on computational methods for partial differential equations, especially fluid dynamics. He earned his SM and PhD degrees in aeronautics and astronautics in 1991 and 1993, respectively, from MIT, and his BS in aerospace engineering in 1989 from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining MIT in 1998, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University from 1995 to 1998. Currently, he is the chair of AeroAstro’s Undergraduate Committee and the graduate officer for the CCSE PhD program.
“I want to echo something that Dan Hastings said recently,” Darmofal says. “We have a lot to be proud of when it comes to an MIT education. It’s more accessible than it has ever been. It’s innovative, with unmatched learning opportunities here and around the world. It’s home to academic research labs that attract the most talented scholars, creators, experimenters, and engineers. And ultimately, it prepares graduates who do good.”

Home Come a Person Have Problems That They Can’t Solve?
This is an essay that ask a very important question.  How come a person have problems that they are not able to solve?  The reason why I ask this question is because I have a mental illness for going on 22 years now.  My primary diagnosis is Schizoid Affective Disorder Bipolar Type.  I will admit that earlier in my life, I did not have a mental illness.
Next, I want to inform everyone that mental illness does not run in my family.  How come people have problems that they cannot solve is because of pride.

Further, I will also admit that I have always wanted to solve my own problems; at least try.  I know that God is the ultimate problem solver.  It is God that is doing for me more than I am doing for myself.
I also will say that I have to allow God to solve my problems for me.  I will say that I am not perfect.  How come I am hearing voices that normal people do not hear?  The answer is I really do not know.  According to 2nd Corinthians 12: 8-10 says: (8.) for this thing I besought the Lord thrice; meaning 3 times: that it may depart from me.  (9.) And He said unto me.  My Grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  (10.) Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. I say that to say this, what makes me weak physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically makes me strong.
In Addition, I will have to admit that I have experience a great deal of physical and mental trauma throughout my life.  When it comes to these voices that I hear every single day of the week, I have to admit that I was involved in a car accident on April 18, 1984.  I was riding inside of a car with someone that I did not know, and we crashed the car into a trussle.

I also experienced whiplash during the accident.  The next thing that happened to me is that I had a stroke on November 8, 2008.  I was not able to use my right side of my body for 3 days.  This occurred during the time that I was living in Charlotte, NC.
Moreover, I also suffered from grandmal seizures from July 25, 1982, April 5, 1985, October 8, 2009, January 24, 2010, and on February 6, 2010.  My very first seizure occurred during the time I was playing an arcade game at my grandmother’s house.  My life was completely messed up.  I also endured sports injuries as well as concussions.  I would like for everyone to please keep me in your prayers.
James 5:16 says confess your faults to one another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.  I also admitted to telling the doctor to prescribe me Risperdal for 4 years.  I was not hearing voices during that time.  I had visual hallucinations from contracting the scabies.  I suffered from the scabies for a total of 49 days.  If I did not receive Quell Shampoo treatments, I would have died from dementia.
Currently, I am hearing voices from the same people who scammed me out of $16,977 dollars in western union funds.  Obviously, these individuals did something bad to hurt me.  I have been hearing voices since November 5, 2009.  I have asked God to remove these voices over and over again, but nothing has not happened yet.  Therefore, this is not a laughing matter this kind of things exist online.  I have not erred from the truth because this really happened to me.

Also, I recently had a total of 5 consecutive abnormal EEGs.  During the past 10 years, I have had an abnormal EEG and it is simply because there is something wrong with my left frontotemporal lobe of my brain.  I have problems with my left side of my brain.  I have been trying to request for a MRI of the brain to find out what is really going on.  My neurologist called it a dysfunction of my left frontotemporal lobe of my brain.  I am trying to resolve this before I die.
According to 1st Peter 4:16 says: Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.  How come people have problems that they cannot solve?  There are times that current sins tend to get in the way.  I might be suffering physically and mentally as well as emotionally, but spiritually I am intact.  I am trying to find out where these voices are coming from.

BLoG: A Brand Ambassadors Life
So as I complete event after event. I grow more and more to LooVe what I do. The importance of Brand Ambassadors is key to a successful event. The roles we take on, the tasks we are assigned to are super important to the client as well as the attendees that are at said event. No matter how small your role may seem it is vital that you fulfill it to the best of your ability. As a Brand Ambassador we must reinforce the weakest points of the clients armor so that their brand shines even in the toughest and most complicated situations.
Representing a Brand demands a lot of responsibility. Arriving on time, communicating clearly and being professional at all times are factors that cannot be overlooked. The client is depending on you, a stranger for the most part, to do whatever it is they need done. Whether it's registration, directionals, interacting with attendees or scanning badges the list is long. It's imperative that you are focused, present and ready for whatever comes at you. There are times when you must be a problem solver or resolution finder. Inevitably, you are the face of the brand itself so you must act as such. Again, professionalism is your main responsibility and your ability to be flexible and versatile is monumental. These abilities are imperative to selling yourself as a capable individual, or brand ambassador. As the idea is to have the client call you back for future events. You must sell yourself as an effective and reliable source.
I have been working as a Brand Ambassador on and off for many years (since 2008). I have been of service to a variety of companies in need of branding and or  marketing. I LooVe what I do and allow it to show through my actions and abilities. Key elements of being a brand ambassador are that one is well spoken, educated and that one can remain composed in front of any kind of adversity or confusion. No matter the situation you must always remain on your toes and on your game. I always put my best foot forward and excel in conditions and situations that demand 100% of my attention.
Working as a Brand Ambassador offers many benefits such as great pay, a wide range of diverse events, the opportunity to work with many people, a high level of teamwork, the opportunity to both challenge yourself and to craft your abilities. The main challenge that exists as a Brand Ambassador is the ability to seek out and find said events on your own time and to fill your schedule accordingly. One must always remain working of course to pay your bills. So it is best to sign up with as many marketing companies as possible in order to build and create a funnel of work that is constantly turning or coming through your doors.

Critical analysis of your internship applications
The Internship applications process included a deep understanding of my skills and experience. It was a clean step by step process to create a profile before applying for internship. The process starts from creating resumes, Cover letter and portfolio which are the key requirements to apply for internship.
Even though resume and cover letter were already prepared during past sessions, it was a challenging task to match it up with the internship job requirements. We were supposed to apply for three different internships consisting of different skills requirements and selection criteria. Different jobs have different requirements. Some ask for academic or technical qualifications, some call for specific personal qualities, while others demand a track record of achievement (Williams, 2008).
To overcome this challenging task the key process was to organize resume and cover letter inputs according to the internship requirements that match my skill set and memorize the skills and experience which was left behind. Great way to critically analyze the journey till. Considering how my skills and experience will benefit the organization where I wish to apply.
These internship programs not only improve students personal skills but also polish their professional growth and experience. Today, educational institutes, students and business recruiters are aware of the importance of internship programs (Sadia Anjum, 2020) Sadia Anjum. 2020. Future Business Journal. Impact of internship programs on professional and personal development of business students: a case study from Pakistan. (https://fbj.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s43093-019-0007-3

MonJostMon, your analysis of the finger gun gesture is fantastic. I love how you pointed out its transformation from a tool of violence with Yusei Kondo to a tool of salvation with Akira Takizawa. It’s a striking shift, and it makes me think of the generational themes tied to this. Younger characters reimagine technology and power for noble purposes rather than destruction. In the series, the general difference isn’t universal – some of the younger characters are indeed evil. While some in the new generation can’t break free from the pessimistic outlook, the ones that do are the problem solvers and heroes of the story.
I also appreciate your point about the NEETs being intrinsically valuable for their humanity rather than their productivity. Our culture often equates economic success with happiness, but Eden of the East challenges that narrative. Personally, I can relate to this idea from my own experience. Starting my first job during the aftermath of the 2008 economic downturn wasn’t easy, but my happiness came from simple pleasures, like spending time with friends, rather than what I earned or bought. Finding alternatives to expectations like slaving away at a corporate job is both brave and inspiring. Eden of the East drives this home showing the potential value of seeking a different path, and I think that’s an important message.
Something that struck me about Eden of the East is how it sneaks up on you with its social criticism. It feels parts thriller, social drama, and romance, and then it hits you in the face with "individual concerns are collective concerns and vice versa" like a metal hammer. As a viewer, I found myself captivated by fear for Akira’s survival in a way that distracted from the environmentally presented themes. Even at this moment, series ended, I find myself instead replaying the scene where Yusei gestures quasi-casually, makes the typical childish finger guns, and the gesture directs three deaths in quick succession. I need to try to see what the series expresses with scenes like that, and globally, because the series very much leads towards its themes, more and more insistently and evidently as the series advances.
Tumblr media
Yusui is a detective, which means he had a public serving profession before ever becoming a Seleção. One would think this would make him uniquely suited to understand underlying structural issues and seeking to solve them, but the responsibility seems to make him collapse internally. He is, despite being given means, entirely hopeless and careless in regard to the mission to save Japan, or indeed in regards to his previous profession, or his marriage. All objectives are simply too much. The scene where he kills three men, therefore, is a conclusion and a presentation of everything we really need to know about him. Utter and careless disregard for life, born of hopelessness.
This is the thematic enemy of the series, and the reason we are dealt with Yusui's plotline so quickly. The series wants us to keep this in the back of our minds as the story advances.
Tumblr media
Contrasting this, we are presented with another character, who is also murdered, but dies entirely at peace and entirely expecting it. This is also the character who orients our protagonist, which is thematically resonant, because he orients the themes of the series as well. Hajime Hiura has also given up on saving "Japan" as a whole, has given up in being a savior, but his regard for human life is unending. He uses all the resources he is granted to provide treatment and a better quality of life to a section of the population that some would dare dismiss as useless and perhaps unimportant for general societal wellness: the elderly. He values their lives simply because they have lives to value.
The other Seleção are willing to conduct murder or terrorist attacks with the intention to reorient Japanese society in such a way that it becomes fairer and priorities change, from industry and capital to the well being of people, but at the core of what they are willing to sacrifice lies their folly. Japan and Japanese society is made up of its people, and sacrificing its people is missing the point of wishing to save it. This is why our protagonist, and indeed the main cast we follow through the story, is concerned with saving the lives that these Seleção put at risk.
This is why the NEETs (literally the not employed, not in education, and not in training) that went missing are a central focus of concern in the series, because they are valuable beyond their productivity, simply for being. It is why they are shown to have been, indeed, saviors all along, to contradict any perception of their lack of contribution to society. This is the reason they are the ones who are consulted for a solution when the day needs saving. Their value is in themselves, in their very being, and this is true even when they are presented as literally stripped naked. (Symbolically, as themselves, not as what they bring.)
This is how we come full circle, how we return to this gesture of the finger gun, and how, this time, it represents communal effort, directed, into saving lives. The antithesis of the antithesis of the series, and therefore its thesis.
Tumblr media
The series ends in a way where nobody is shown to have "saved Japan," or even truly what that would mean or look like. Akira makes himself prince (or king??), but we are not shown how this will turn out for him. This is because the core of the series is this: None of the Seleção alone can save Japan or Japanese society, everything anyone can do is their best to help people, to listen to people, and to value people. And when that effort is communal, it can bring about change.
And this is probably true everywhere, beyond Japan and beyond the series. This is what everyone learns living and watching the news and seeing the world pass by, that the problems of the world are not solvable for any one single individual. That one needs to focus within what is manageable for oneself, and be kind and help those around to the best of one's ability, find structure.

Astro Observations with Claude ❤️🌻✨
NOTE: WHILE I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL ASTROLOGER, I LIKE ASTROLOGY AND IT’S ASPECTS! PLEASE DO NOT STEAL OR REPOST MY WORK! THANKS! ❤️
-Hey y’all!
-Your local tarot lady/astrology student is back with some more astrology observations!! I love growing an learning this so you know how we do it over here!
- Retrogrades don’t necessarily mean the opposite of the planet’s effects. It can manifest that way, yet the point of retrograde astrologically means going within and reflecting before acting. 🧐🔎 That’s how you can think of rx planets whether in transit or in your natal chart! ✨ I’ve also noticed people with natal rx planets tend to be better problem solvers than natal direct people.
-I’ve noticed two things from Saturn dominants vs. Pluto dominants: Saturn prepares for the world externally 🌎. Pluto prepares for the world internally 😶‍🌫️. One prepares by establishing external order and enforcing discipline (whether to themselves or to the things around them). The other prepares by purging the remnants of one environment to morph with the next environment.
-Leo’s aren’t as shallow as y’all portray them. While yes they may hold onto their ego, they understand relationships are transactional (which they are). They understand that no one is going to make them feel less than. Nope! 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
-To have a Moon-NN aspect (esp a harsher aspect like square, opposition, and even conjunction) means that in this lifetime you are supposed to understand the importance of your own emotions, comfort, and nurturing ❤️. I point out the harsher aspects because they give more challenges, and it may be harder to recognize that you need this. Also, in this lifetime you are meant to understand what home is like to you and where you feel safest. 🏠
-Don’t necessarily resonate with your natal chart and also don’t resonate with the transits going through your chart at the moment? Look at your progressed chart. It’s like the transits for your life in this moment in time. It actually helped me a lot 😂😂🧐.
-Mars in the water houses (4H, 8H, 12H) anger can be a lot more terrifying than other houses. That anger is coming from a deeper place. Esp if this Mars happens to aspect Pluto. Remember these houses all have one theme in common: the subconscious mind. These placements may not always be the first to be confrontational, but when they do don’t be surprised if you’re sliding down a wall for three days rethinking every decision you made up to that point. 🤣🤣💀.
-Knowing your chart ruler helps you understand your outlook on life, but also your dominant planet! This planet may also have alot of influence on your life and how you go about it. 🪐
-The Pluto in Sagittarius ♐️ generation (1995-2008) will not let you slide if you got fucked up beliefs! Jupiter (philosophy, belief systems) is very hard on the beliefs and morality. I think we’re also the generation that created cancel culture over what someone says. We do it because if you say certain goofy stuff it’s probably because you believe in said goofy stuff. Because why are you still putting that out in the ether? And that’s one of our powers (Pluto). We are gonna make you think twice before you say something crazy. 😂😂😂😂😂
-I’ve mentioned this on Twitter but I’ll mention it again here. I’ve noticed inconjunct pairings (Pisces x Leo; Cancer x Sagittarius; Aries x Virgo) get along well to my surprise! Inconjuncts usually are an aspect that speak of irritation, awkwardness, or just not having common ground. Yet, when these pairs get together and get to know each other, it’s a newfound adoration for each other. I really love it 🥰.
-If you have the ruler of your 11H in your 2H you may not only be able to make money well (11H: gains), but also save it for awhile. While 2H is famously known for how we make money, I’ve noticed it can also reveal how we are with saving money, as the 2H also talks about what brings us stability (it’s an Earth house after all). If your 11H and 2H aren’t afflicted in general or with one another, this is material gworl energy!! 💸💰🤑🤑
-I’ve noticed people with stelliums (esp if you have more than one stellium) in their chart can find it very difficult to focus their attention on more than one thing. For example if they start something, they may focus just on that project before they move on to the next one. Balance can also be an issue for them too, as a stellium is concentrated in one area of a chart. I feel y’all 🤣😭.
-Y’all when I tell y’all 8H or 12H folks don’t need to tell folks nothing if they are planning to do something!!!!! I’ve had a client say this to me (they had 8H placements) and this happens to me as well with my 12H placements! And other peers have come and said this with said placements. These two houses are synonymous in hidden forces. Because the minute we speak on something (before it’s set and stone) it goes awry. Just something I’ve observed and experienced time and time again 😅😂😂😩.
-That’s all for this one! Hope you enjoyed it!
-Tips made to: $DellyRelly
-See ya later!!

Hey Doll.
I really really need your help, please.
I keep falling to be the same person. Everything is bad.
I hate how I treat people, i tried changing several times but I keep falling.
I hate the constant need to feel validated. I started doing some hobbies to enhance my self esteem, but when performing these, I am like “are they looking? They are probably laughing at me” and I turn these thoughts away with “they are no one to me, I don’t need their opinion…” but I keep failing again. It’s so hard.
Excuse the following length of my reply, as I feel passionately about this because I understand exactly what this is like. Something in your life is causing you to ruminate more than usual.
Rumination, also called repetitive negative thinking, is a thought pattern that involves repeatedly and passively focusing on the causes, consequences, and meaning of negative feelings and circumstances.
Humans are natural problem solvers, but sometimes in that we look for solutions to confirm our biases. This is where ruminative thinking begins. This is where dissonance begins. I learned in therapy and my own studies in social cognition that repetitive negative patterns are often created in our childhood out of survival, not a lack of character.
This is why it's helpful to ask:
Why am I having these thoughts?
How do I avoid this, and what is going on currently to create this thought process?
What are my triggers?
You are correct in saying that hobbies will distract from ruminating and compulsively overthinking. However, your constant judgment regarding these positive coping mechanisms will do more harm than good.
You are also correct in identifying how you treat others. It's time to ask yourself why you are so critical of yourself and others. It is also time to accept that, yes, someone else's opinion is their own and you can't control that. It is also time to ask if you project onto others because of your own self criticism or fragile ego.
Remember: Multiple things can be true at once, it's not so black or white that you are automatically an irredeemable person who can't be better. Dust yourself off and try again lol.
Your candor to admit you are falling short and wish to do better is already a sign of improvement. If you're able to admit this to me, an objective stranger, then you are already starting the process.
Try focusing on what you can control. You can only control your self concept. Sometimes, people have to be in the background... (exception: close friends and family *who are healthy in themselves* holding you accountable!)
I highly recommend identifying your triggers, and if this type of introspection proves to be more challenging than you anticipated, therapy is a solution if you have the resources. I also highly recommend journaling, as studies have proved it reduces repetitive thinking because it helps you see your thought process.
Thank you for sharing this with me. I hope this helps, and I'm rooting for you! ❤️

Artificial Intelligence: A Brief History
Ancient Greek mythology included intelligent robots and artificial entities for the first time. The creation of syllogism and its application of deductive reasoning by Aristotle was a watershed point in humanity's search to comprehend its own intelligence. Despite its long and deep roots, artificial intelligence as we know it today has only been around for a century. The following is a quick rundown of some of the most significant AI events.
1940s * "A Logical Calculus of Ideas Immanent in Nervous Activity," by Warren McCullough and Walter Pitts, is published in 1943. The first mathematical model for developing a neural network was proposed in this publication. (1949) Donald Hebb offers the hypothesis that brain pathways are formed by experiences and that connections between neurons become stronger the more they are used in his book The Organization of Behavior: A Neuropsychological Theory. In AI, Hebbian learning remains an essential model.
1950s Alan Turing publishes "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" in 1950, suggesting the Turing Test, a method for detecting whether or not a machine is intelligent. Marvin Minsky and Dean Edmonds, Harvard undergraduates, create SNARC, the first neural network computer, in 1950. Claude Shannon publishes "Programming a Computer for Playing Chess" in 1950.
*
The "Three Laws of Robotics" are published by Isaac Asimov in 1950.
*
Arthur Samuel creates a checkers self-learning software in 1952.
(1954) In the Georgetown-IBM machine translation experiment, 60 carefully selected Russian sentences are mechanically translated into English.
At the "Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence" in 1956, the term "artificial intelligence" is developed. The conference, which established the scope and goals of AI and was led by John McCarthy, is largely regarded as the genesis of artificial intelligence as we know it today.
*
Allen Newell and Herbert Simon exhibit the first reasoning program, Logic Theorist (LT), in 1956.
John McCarthy creates Lisp, an AI programming language, and publishes his article "Programs with Common Sense" in 1958. The paper proposed the Advice Taker, a complete AI system capable of learning from experience in the same way as humans do.
* In 1959, Allen Newell, Herbert Simon, and J.C. Shaw created the General Problem Solver (GPS), a computer program that mimics human problem-solving.
*
Herbert Gelernter created the Geometry Theorem Prover program in 1959.
*
While working at IBM in 1959, Arthur Samuel coined the phrase "machine learning."
The MIT Artificial Intelligence Project was started by John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky in 1959.
1960s
*
John McCarthy establishes the Stanford AI Lab in 1963.
* 1966) The Automatic Language Processing Advisory Committee (ALPAC) report by the U.S. government details the lack of progress in machine translations research, a major Cold War initiative with the promise of automatic and instantaneous translation of Russian. The ALPAC report leads to the cancellation of all government-funded MT projects.
* (1969) The first successful expert systems are developed in DENDRAL, a XX program, and MYCIN, designed to diagnose blood infections, are created at Stanford.
1970s
* (1972) The logic programming language PROLOG is created.
* 1973) The British government releases the "Lighthill Report," which details AI research failures and results in significant funding cuts for AI initiatives. (1974-1980) Dissatisfaction with AI progress leads to significant DARPA reductions in research grants. Artificial intelligence funding is drying up, and research is stagnating, according to the ALPAC study and the previous year's "Lighthill Report." The "First AI Winter" occurs during this time.
1980s
R1 (also known as XCON), the first successful commercial expert system, is developed by Digital Equipment Corporations in 1980. R1, which is designed to configure orders for new computer systems, kicks off a decade-long investment boom in expert systems, essentially ending the first "AI Winter."
*
The ambitious Fifth Generation Computer Systems project is launched by Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1982. The purpose of FGCS is to create a platform for AI development and supercomputer-like performance.
1983) In response to Japan's FGCS, the US government develops the Strategic Computing Initiative, which will fund advanced computing and artificial intelligence research through DARPA. (1985) Companies invest over a billion dollars a year on expert systems, and an entire sector called the Lisp machine market emerges to support them. Symbolics and Lisp Machines Inc. are two companies that make customized computers that run on the AI programming language Lisp.
1987-1993) As computing technology advanced, cheaper alternatives arose, and the Lisp machine market crashed in 1987, kicking off the "Second AI Winter." Expert systems became too expensive to operate and update during this time, and they finally fell out of favor.
1990s
During the Gulf War in 1991, US forces used DART, an automated logistical planning and scheduling program.
(1992) Japan cancels the FGCS project in 1992, alleging failing to reach the grandiose targets set a decade before.
DARPA terminated the Strategic Computing Initiative in 1993, after spending over $1 billion and falling short of expectations. (1997) World chess champion Gary Kasparov is defeated by IBM's Deep Blue in the 2000s
*
(2005) The DARPA Grand Challenge is won by STANLEY, a self-driving automobile.
2005: The United States military began to invest in self-driving robots such as Boston Dynamics' "Big Dog" and iRobot's "PackBot."
*
(2008) Google develops advancements in speech recognition and makes the feature available via its iPhone app.
2010-2014
*
On Jeopardy!, IBM's Watson beats out the competition.
(2011) Apple's iOS operating system introduces Siri, an AI-powered virtual assistant.
* In 2012, Andrew Ng, the inventor of the Google Brain Deep Learning project, fed 10 million YouTube videos as a training set to a neural network using deep learning methods. The neural network learns to recognize a cat without being informed what a cat is, ushering in a new era of deep learning funding and neural networks. (2014) Google's self-driving car passes a state driving test for the first time. From 2015 through 2021, Amazon's Alexa, a virtual home, will be available.
