the general concept for this was: it belongs to an oracle deck (non existent, this came out of a dream I had awhile back) where the illustrations are all romans and they all straight up tell you that everything is doomed to failure no matter what you pull lol

I love it. Reimu made all these fortune telling slips because she didn't want the youkai of Gensokyo to change, let alone vanish from existence. And she has extended this kindness as far out as forgettable beings like Daiyosei and Koakuma, to beings as horrible as Yachie, Jo'on, or Seija, to even beings actively harming Gensokyo with their very existence like Mizuchi and Chimata.

And Zanmu has so much respect for Reimu that she calls her the Ruler of Gensokyo. While the fanon idea of Gensokyo destroying itself upon Reimu's death is inaccurate, it can truly be said that Gensokyo would fall into chaos and despair without Reimu being the person she is.

Not an all-destroying malice, but an all-accepting kindness. That is what Reimu is. Gensokyo accepts everything because Reimu accepts everything.

I love the hc that Legend is a picky apple connoisseur and I desperately need him to go on a Brennan Lee Mulligan level rant about it. I need a whole minute alone dedicated to Red Delicious and how the decision to tack the misnomer word "Red" onto Delicious instead of "Pink" or some other word was mankind's greatest error, as it marked the beginning of the end of what could have continued to be the most delicious apple in existence had the desire for name-matching visuals over flavor not influenced people to try and get the apples more and more red, demolishing the good flavor because, apparently, a color mattered more than taste, despite the taste being the entire point of food, and honestly if that was what they cared most about, they should have just dunked each apple in some red paint and called it a day, because at least the inside would still be tasty, and if the paint killed you, it would have been a sweet sweet death instead of being forced to trudge through life with the miserable knowledge that what was once holy and good became a flavorless husk due to the arrogant desire of the eyes.

DOC MCSTUFF 'EM

I know Jason Todd would get a PhD or a medical degree just so he could have a Dr. attached to his name and refuse to listen unless you call him 'Dr. Todd' or 'Dr. Jason' or even plain 'Doc" ( I know that because he's the same kinda asshole as me),,,, like yes obviously Jason wants to go into academics but life does not let him "live laugh and learn" in his conditions, and also very small, tiny miniscule even insecure - died at 15- part of him really hates not even having a high school degree, but he's all beggars can't be choosers and all that shit - and carries onto his life: *enter* training montage, pseudo villain/ revenge era and then his sorta redemption arc (anti hero - batman's version ft. Rubber bullets and hissy cat cuddles).

However a small remark, which barely registered in his mind at the moment, has him reeling 1:49 a.m. with spite, and hence leads onto a quest for degrees at the ripe age of 20.

Being the overachiever, who's revenge plot involved a 157 steps with 48 backups and 27 pseudo- ups( dont even ask), gets his GEDs sorted and somehow managed to complete his bachelors, and MBBS together ( for shit and giggles(there was no giggles and only tears during end sems) ), proceeds onto masters and then into a good doctoral fellowship.

Alfred has a wall of fame ( read: shrine) for the degrees from Jason, Barbara and Dick, Bruce once tried to place his fake degree which he bought from a no name college as his alibi for his bat training, but one look from Alfred has him scampering.

Side note: He loves comics( what a nerd<3), really really really needs to beat Bruce Banner's record of 11 PhDs. ( He attempted 2 PhDs at once, dude was less traumatized than digging himself out of his grave by the end of it).

Ok so I'm still thinking about the new stuff the fortune slip book revealed about Zanmu, and I was just casually thinking about it today when I thought of something. Zanmu's overconfidence is often unfounded, but how many of the characters in Touhou 19 thought that in their encounters with her? In the world of Touhou, the human's perception about any given Youkai, if widely accepted, can change who that Youkai even is. I remember seeing a post talking about how what Zanmu says in the little manga section of this book kinda addresses this, and that made me wonder.

She probably knows this fact and this is probably the reason she is so comfortable with bluffing and having unfounded confidence. She knows she can get away with it because she knows how people's perception can shape her own nature. Her apathy is also kind of scary as well because it shows that she has nothing to lose. In a way, this kinda makes her more untouchable because you literally can't hurt her in a way that matters.

A lot of the stuff in her fortune slip also comes across as just straight up nihilistic, especially the comment of "Doing anything at all by now is pointless. Soon everything will be covered by nothingness." I remember mentioning in a reblog how Zanmu literally doesn't care when people find out about her plans because she knows everything that person tries will be pointless. Back then I kinda saw this as a supervillain thing, but now it's recontextualized as Zanmu just straight up not caring. Like, not even in a "haha you're so below me I don't care" kinda way but in a "ok so what? I'm still gonna do it, nothing matters to me at this point that you figuring out isn't gonna stop me."

Also, this opens up a whole new avenue for writing any ship with her because I have a feeling that once she does start genuinely caring about a person she is with them until the day they fucking die. Like, it probably takes a lot for her to break out of her nihilistic apathy and start genuinely caring about people (it's probably why she likes Reimu so much) so that opens up a whole new range of dynamics to explore.
