Love Of The Divine Tree FINISHED THOUGHTS AHHHH

I LOVED THIS DRAMA GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL AMAZING YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WATCH IT. ( if you watched till the end of the moon and are in pain please watch this it will heal you)

Small review: Amazing drama where both ml and fl are very very likable. BOTH ARE AMAZING. This one does not raise your blood pressure heh both are perfect for each others stubbornness to save each other hahah.

About the ending: A great ending . Both come out of the final boss fight alive. no one person waiting in front of a reincarnation tree or whatever ( been there done that in the beginning of the drama instead ) A wedding scene ( fancy hair accessories yay) A proper happy ending they contributing to overpopoulation at this point lol was seeing him do all the work and was like NO? this can't be? the whole drama they were equal -but then they said they drew lots to see who was the shifu and who was the disciple for the day and I was like ah okay fair enough ( best would be alternate lmao but whats the fun in that for them ig)

I think it would be interesting for batman villains to display different responses to extreme trauma. Not just insanity, make them less insane insane as they are just making sense of what happened to them in the most reasonable way they feel works.

Ivy in my world is a politician until she's assaulted and dumped into bog to never be seen again. Reborn as a spirit of nature, not particularly human, and by the way she was gotten rid of; it's made clear that she's unwanted. She gets back at those who wronged her and slander her by eating them alive as a monster that may wear the face of a woman but is no longer human at all.

Riddler doesn't even conceptualise that his way of growing up isn't normal. Watching peers get trapped and killed in training trials isn't normal. Being ordered to regularly kill your friends isn't normal. Which is why he sees it to be acceptable to put other people in his killer escape rooms and sometimes the answer to getting out is to kill the other person trapped with you to get through.

Scarecrow is a guy that is scared of lashing out, under near constant stress of a demon that follows him around as a protector. He's afraid of it lashing out to a percieved threat and getting him into serious trouble. So he hides away absolutely terrified of the world and of the demon that will slaughter anybody who may threaten him.

Two-face is not split personality he's a man trying to reconcile the personality he puts out to the public, good and reliable Harvey and the absolute pain of having half of his face disfigured (cut off and burned) trying to play off the incident as nothing that can keep him down but knowing that getting into office and not complying with those who hurt him will result in him getting the other half agonisingly ripped off, if he makes THEM unhappy.

Joker...I prefer him as a plot device that other people have opinions on than an actual character. I like the idea of joker's son wanting to kill joker, to be ashamed of being related to him. Joker's son looking at batman and asking him what does blood mean when they've killed someone you care about, and saying that there's no amount of redemption or justification in the world that could make him forgive joker for killing his best friend (practically brother) so the guy needs to die.

I want insanity to come as a result of something, to have it be the most functional response to the most horrible incident. It's not one bad day, it's an upbringing that tried to wipe out a person to turn you into a tool, a purposeful attempt to dehumanize you erase you and everything you sought to build, it's a life time of terror and not being capable of asking for help for something that's beyond anyone's understanding, it's alienating the people you thought were your friend's because they don't have anything to offer when you're in the worst position of your life, it's being told to not be angry to be quiet and let it be and trust the adult who's already failed you in the one thing that's ever mattered to you and watching as they continue to to fail you and still ask you to not get mad.

I'd like a batman that asks what's more crazy? To keep pushing people and expecting nothing to ever give or to believe that people who have no basis of understanding of what proper kindness or mercy is to begin with because they've never received it in the acceptable means to know how to be good correctly.

but, like, more than just confronting a real-world traumatic event… it was also proof that the community had been outmoded. the psychic core of slender man simply did not exist within the circles of independent filmmakers and amateur writers that built it up, it existed within a dubious network of junk data, of the rumors of children in comment sections and iphone videos. adam rosner's slick editing work has nothing on the fact that slender man apparently owns a mansion now. obviously in any adult interpretation he doesn't, but in real life, he has to, because the people who think he has a mansion were the people who were actually being affected by him in real life. clearly their interpretation is the most potent one

and that's the only real way out, isn't it? as a child, i thought any sympathetic interpretations of the slender man were going to take away the anonymous unknowable menace of the simple potent image of "the childhood friend who wasn't quite human". i couldn't entertain them. he was a lovecraftian, absurdist horror - not "slenderman", but "the slender man". he was the upsetting memory you can't quite remember, the troubling presence in your childhood. i wanted to preserve this interpretation, tinged with an adult menace that i couldn't actually understand yet

but as time goes on, i've become more and more resistant to the idea that he kills anyone. he certainly doesn't directly kill anyone in marble hornets et al. other people do the killing in reaction to him, in proxymity to him, they are driven against eachother because they cannot understand the frightening situation they are in. video games like slender can simulate the part where you run away, but they give the wrong idea, as if these stories are at any point ABOUT that part - that they are about a guy Who Gets You. a boogeyman, a slasher villain. someone who might want you to sacrifice someone to him

no, in the end, the sympathetic interpretation is the proper one - that is to say, the ONLY possible one, the only way to ever end this story. (certainly injuring him didn't work, when the bloggers tried that.) the healing of the wound is to accept that the slender man never meant anyone harm. the healing of the wound is to let him go - not as a failed creepypasta, an embarrassing and regrettable part of internet history, but as our childhood imaginary friend who was vital to our growth. he was with us every step of the way - in our photos, our tapes. he really was always watching

I literally have over 12,000 words worth of just notes on Alpha Base, lots of it having to do with character development. There's so much that doesn't make it to Patreon because I don't have a drawing to pop up here with it and because I don't want to give away the whole story, of course. Just know that there's a lot behind the scenes at any given time.

One of the things I really like to do when I develop characters is to make sure that they're still well-rounded, nuanced people, and not just The Bad Guy and The Good Guy. I want to know where they came from, why they believe what they believe, what their relationships with those around them are really like and how those developed, what motivates them, what makes them happy, what pisses them right off, and what makes them scared? What makes them upset? What gives them nightmares? Even bad guys have nightmares. Everyone has nightmares.

One of the stories that's been important for me to know, even if I'm not sure if it's going to directly appear in the book much, is how Errick and Heinrich even met in the first place and how their friendship developed. They're from wildly different backgrounds, but neither one of them had an easy time when they were young.

Without going into too much detail, Heinrich - at the time going by his birth name, Henry - spent his early years abandoned, mistreated, and trapped in a very unpleasant situation, only got out of it by making a series of bad decisions, getting all the wrong kinds of attention, and then having someone he didn't expect stand up for him and earn him a second chance. He was so close to just falling right through the cracks.

Errick, on the other hand, comes from privilege, but that doesn't necessarily mean his life is easy street. He's the son of Alpha Base's commander, and he's next in line to take over command. The problem is that he's been constantly reminded that what he's inheriting is a sinking ship, and he's never really wanted it. His childhood was plagued by family deaths, mostly due to illness, but one was an accident that killed his big brother, Michael. His mother's death when he was twelve came just a few years later and that would have wrecked him if he hadn't had Henry around.

When they met, Henry was 14, still trying to figure out how to function after being given a new lease on life that he really didn't believe that he even deserved, and Errick was 9, missing his brother and worrying about losing his mom a lot sooner than he'd want. Errick was the one who initiated the friendship. Henry was about the same age that Michael had been, and Errick desperately needed a friend. Henry, who had never really had a proper friend, was a little awkward about it, but before long they were as close as family. Henry was there for Errick when he needed him to be, weathered tragedy with him, and got him through those rough childhood years when the only blood relation Errick had left was his dad, who was often too busy to pay much attention to his remaining kid. They've been close ever since.

Now, granted, Errick grew up to be a chronically irresponsible and violent dumbass, Heinrich's a spooky weirdo who terrorizes the populace just by walking down the street, and neither one of them is exactly good and safe to hang around with, but by golly, they're as close as brothers and I needed to know why.

Basically every episode has this moment:

- Speaking of Jack “shooting’s quicker” Robertson: now this is a guy I can relate to! You’ve spent all this time trying to show me that humans are smart and important, all you needed to do was gimme this one - he gets it!

- the fam deciding to become proper companions like “the doctor’s fun, but it does mean we have to put up with that guy she insists on dragging along”, and deciding the wonders of the universe are… probably worth putting up with him

- absolutely zero knowledge and interest in human culture, so is the perfect target for historical info-dumping (Rosa, Partition, Witch Hunts), while also complaining that he doesn’t give a shit every single time. Yaz trying to relate to the other Asian guy like “my family are from Pakistan” and he just goes “what planet is that?” (Or let’s be honest probably something ruder)

- despite everything, weirdly defensive about the Doctor; threatens King James for not taking her seriously, “I’ll show you some fucking magic” [pulls out tissue compressor while 13 desperately tries to stop him assassinating an historical head of state]. And learns to get defensive over the humans, not because he genuinely cares for them (yet? 🤔), but because he knows 13 likes it when the humans are kept safe: “were you worried about me??” “No, but the Doctor would be if she knew you were running off on your own like an idiot, so here I am I guess!”

- also knows the gallifreyan fairy tales (because he met the Doctor’s Granny 5 when they were kids???) and holy shit the solitract is real!? A brief shining moment of joy over something freaky that shows the humans “oh my god he has a personality other than thinly-veiled psychopathy?”

- graham wanting to kill Tim Shaw, and the master having to battle between “yeah, yeah, we should definitely do it this time, kill the fucker” and “ugh, no, the Doctor wouldn’t like that. I’ll talk to Graham… I guess”

- NYE special, instead of the Dalek Scout, they discover the Timeless Child stuff TOGETHER, and you either get a heart-warming hug-it-out “neither of us knew this, but it doesn’t change that we care about each other”, OR he goes off the rails like in canon and now it’s all the more heartbreaking and the fam have to deal with the fact that they know this guy too now, and he’s fucking snapped and “yeah I know you were trying to rehabilitate him, but he’s gonna fucking kill us if we don’t do something about him”

Where MHA fails : stakes and tension

I know a lot of people have made similar posts about this topic but I wanted to give my two cents on this so here it is.

MHA's early arcs definitely had a lot of tension and stakes like just look at the usj arc or the shopping incident heck even the overhaul arc had some good tension and stakes when it came to the idea of izuku would actually survive his fight against overhaul with eri full on having a whole Quirk breakdown on his back. However, after the overhaul arc that tension and stakes all faded away into nothingness which is now the final war arc. In my opinion, there are a few reasons as to why this happend but the most prominent reason is:

Hori refuses to kill characters for the plot

Yeah, that's pretty much it. The lack of character deaths really doesn't help the tensions in the show and the characters that ACTUALLY DO DIE OR GET INJURED don't really affect the audience in any major way.

Midnight- horikoshi had to kill someone close to the hero kids so tensions could rise and students could actually truly realise how dangerous it is and really up the stakes that the villains are back and stronger then ever. However, we don't see midnight really bond or interact with the students so the whole having momo ,mina and Kiri crying over her doesn't hit big.

Twice - I get it the guy had to die and yeah if we are talking about it his death or him living created a bunch of tension and stakes for the hero's because his quirk is really deadly to be honest. However, I don't think his death was done well to be honest like it was probably one of the best deaths hori gave us but I can't help but think there could of been more when it came to him

Nighteye- honestly this is the same as twice like I know his death was there to serve a turning point in the story and show the darker side of heroics which worked but he was honestly an asshole so I was happy he was gone. I only felt bad cos of mirio crying so maybe try and make him a nicer person and then kill him off?

Magne- never really bothered with her death. Like sure it definitely amplified the tension between chisaki and the LOV but we could of probably seen more from her then he could of killed her off but the same with twice and nighteye her death did raise the stakes and tensions by a lot.

Shirakumo - his death was just there to make us sympathetic towards aizawa and him being revealed as kurogiri just ruined his character because even though it had potential you can definitely tell hori didn't think it through or expand with that plot point

Then there is the other deaths I don't remember or just don't care about like crust, whatever number of other pros who died during the war, native, the villains

And there are the villains who hori just done dirty in killing them like SPINNER ,TOGA AND DABI

Something like this can be easily fixed in MHA which is literally killing more characters that SHOULD of died in MHA like:

Gran Torino - how is that guy still alive?

Aizawa shota ( Iam 50/50 on this)

Bakugo Katsuki - the guy had a full complete character arc his character went full circle so he was just there also his revival made no sense you could of revived him differently

Someone from 1A or 1B (raise the tension)

Enji todoroki - his death would of made more sense then him living for multiple reasons

Miriko - idk how she is alive

Lady nagant - same as miriko

GIVE VILLAINS LIKE TOGA, DABI AND SPINNER PROPER DEATHS.

Horikoshi's 2nd biggest problems when it comes to stakes and tensions is THE LACK OF CONSEQUENCES!!!!!

The hero's and villains should of had more consequences overall to raise the stakes in the show. Hawks and tokoyami losing their QUIRKS IS A GOOD Consequence BUT THEM GETTING IT BACK DIFFUSES THE TENSION. This is the same for what happend to mirio. Unpopular opinion, but AFO should of had his own consequences with taking a living powerful sentient soul taking or absorbing quirk like dark shadow.

There are so many consequences that hori could of gave as a result to WHAT ALREADY HAPPEND BUT HE CHOOSES TO IGNORE IT AND GIVE CONSEQUENCES THAT CONTRADICT HIS WHOLE PLOT.

What I mean by that is the whole izuku somehow losing danger sense. That stuff makes ZERO SENSE how and why would that happen? Isn't danger sense and the other QUIRKS all merged within OFA because that's exactly why AFO couldn't take OFA from a OFA user because yochi's quirk is merged withing OFA and so are the other QUIRKS so how is it that danger sense is stolen by shigaraki?!?! Does this mean that izuku is someone that somehow has the capacity to carry 8 DIFFERENT POWERFUL AND DANGEROUS QUIRKS. That makes no sense because if it isn't that he is somehow related to AFO then how isn't he a nomu with the amount of quirks he has.

In conclusion, the problem of stakes and tension is literally caused by two major factors:

Horikoshi's inability to kill off some characters

Horikoshi's lack of consequences and if consequences are given they tend to CONTRADICT the plot

Shari is the protagonist she's the princess of the Kingdom of Sun, when a weird cult started to kill her people and her father decided to not intervene she decides to take action and investigate the matter herself ending up to undercovering a dangerous conspiracy. After a series of events she finds herself as "sacrifice" for a ritual that if completed would bring ruin to the flux(the story's world system) after being rescued by her friends and comrades they manage to stop the ritual halfway through and she'll have to find and attune with an ancient relic( together with the other two who were with her in the ritual) to close back the rift that was left half open. After the victory against the big bad boss and closing the rift she yeets away the palace life leaving the kingdom in her sister's hands ( time to retire old man) and becomes a travelling protector of the relics.

Ajmal's Shari's childhood friend and her personal guard, he insisted on accompanying her on her journey, mom friend.

Nakir, a mercenary, met shari when they were teens, they had a nice time together in secret but soon had to part ways... he was her only contact out of the palace so she seeked for him once she started her journey, yes he's the love interest, himbo boy

Taru's Nakir's best friend(also a mercenary), she ended up tagging along the group as extra help, Nakir's single braincell other half,witty tomboy she's the only one of the main 4 with proper field experience

Uri's Nakir's twin brother he will be completely irrelevant to the plot until he gets kidnapped for the ritual, he died when retrieving his relic but was reborn as a big chicken(Uri'el) which will lead to bigger responsibilities that he can imagine

Ameera is also a princess but unlike Shari she is all about court life and politics , she surrenders herself to the cult that wanted to use her child for the ritual instead, if ajmal was the mom frien she is THE mom

Pravaal(i don't have him in the same format) is another mercenary that will join the team to save the kidnapped ones, he doesn't care much about rules, chaotic shark boy... will also teach swordmanship to Uri'el( his ex lover/future husband)

Mukhtar is thefirst villainous face the characters will meet, he's an high rank member of the sect/cult and handled the kidnappings, he cowardly fled the ritual place and later shook hands with the big bad guy ( ending up physically and mentally warped)

Vali was formerly a sun noble named Suneel...too bad he had to die to leave his body as vessel for the spirit of a super bad emperor, was the body frail was the eperor reputation overhyped? who knows but he will surprisigly go down pretty soon, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't a dangerous threat

Rashida's an exile from the sand fortress, she's moven by spite and revenge and will join the big bad guy with no hesitation, she is....a little unhinged (will also get phisically and mentally warped...well she already kinda is a bit on the psycho side)

Halvor aka the big bad guy, he's a general from the gruesome war that took place in the flux 3000 years ago, he got sealed away from space and time together with his kingdom world (that Vali ruled over) with the original ritual but once the rift got half open he managed to wake up and squeeze through menacing to turn all the marked (the people with the black sclera) into the new army of padra (the sealed bad place)

the marked are people who have 1 of their scleras black, that is an hereditary trait and is badly seen by the common folk, Shari herself is one of them and that's why she covers her right eye (her father publicly gauged his eye out during the coronation ceremony)

BnHA Chapter 305: Worst Intervention Ever

Previously on BnHA: Shinomori, whose name took me an entire week to memorize, was all, “nice to meet you Deku, I’m ten feet tall, do you want to know how I died?” and without waiting for an answer explained that he kicked it from old age at forty thanks to good ol’ OFA. Deku was all “wait a minute, then how come All Might, who’s fifty-five and is definitely dyeing his gray hair, is still alive?” First and Shino were all, “we really have no fucking clue but we think it’s cuz he’s quirkless, JUST LIKE YOU!” So basically, since quirkless people don’t exactly grow on trees these days, Deku is probably going to be the last user of OFA. The chapter ended with Nana being all, “psst, Deku, about my grandson. Uh, can you kill him?” which is sure to lead to a very interesting conversation this week.

Today on BnHA: Nana And The Gang are all “so, Deku, how can we put this delicately. The thing is, we’re pretty sure that AFO really fucked my grandson up, so on the off chance you can’t save him, how would you feel about, you know... [throat slitting gesture].” Deku is all “idk you guys, I kinda feel like he’s really just a traumatized child at heart and he’s in a lot of pain and stuff and so I should try to help him.” The Vestiges are all “BUT WHAT IF YOU CAN’T” and Deku is all “BUT I WANT TO TRY, DAMMIT” and the Vestiges are all “well when you put it that way, we, uh, were just testing you, so congrats, you passed!” The chapter ends with First being all, “ANYWAY SO WHY DON’T YOU TWO SHY BOYS STANDING OVER THERE IN THE SHADOWS COME SAY HELLO” before we CUT AWAY FOR ANOTHER WEEK, goddammit.

(Well with 20+ notes--at the time of reblogging this--it looks like I got your attention so I'll go ahead and share!)

It started with one weird sleep and a lack of pre-bedtime journaling.

The dream was that instead of Po having to find a new dragon warrior so he can become the valley's new spiritual leader, the inciting incident was that the Furious Five were going to retire.

They all felt that having failed to stop every major threat to the valley while Po saved the day and became the most powerful kung fu master ever, nobody needed them any more so they were going their separate ways.

Naturally Po--having looked up to them even before he joined their ranks/friend group--is devastated at the thought of making his friends feel useless.

(My brain immediately went to bonding road trip movie here for some reason but thankfully it doesn't end there. Altho I would use that as a joke anyways.)

Before she goes to take a graceful exit, Tigress tries to tell Po something important and possibly shippy, but Tai Lung (The Real One) shows up before she can say and my brain gave me this funny exchange:

Tigress: Po, before I leave I just wanted to say that I… (sees Tai glaring at her from the Jade Palace walls) T-Tai. Tai… Tai…

Po: (confused, turns around) Oh hey, Tai Lung. Could you just give us a minute Tigress is… uh, just trying to tell me something.

Po: (immediately does a goofy double take)

And the rest was just the Five and Po running around doing cool stuff while infiltrating the bad guys' hideout. This time it's the Five who get to take the lead showing their different talents while Po compliments them.

After that I woke up and my brain started filling in the details just for fun.

First of all--as my bud @iamthekaijuking pointed out via DM--the Five love kung-fu too much to retire, so they'd just be bummed out. Po would still try to come up with a way to help them feel better. I might have Shifu retire instead but only if it could make sense.

In regards to Tai-Lung being there and who's the villain, it's still the Chameleon but I'm doing it a bit differently.

I'm not bringing back all the past villains just for cameos and having her steal their chi or whatever at the beginning. Tai-Lung shows up because (unless this was a retcon or just BS) he was only banished to the Spirit Realm, not killed. So he's still technically alive.

For the Chameleon, rather than a boring blend of Shen and Kai, I was thinking she could be a dedicated sorcerer villain who wants to replace kung fu with her chi powers--in exchange for being paid tribute. Essentially being a sort of scam hero/faith healer type villain.

Zhen is still there but instead of being Po's new sidekick she's working for the Chameleon from the start. (Whoops spoilers, better remember to tag that.) She's just a petty thief working for her, but she thinks that if she does everything her master wants, she'll take her on as her apprentice proper. Maybe even adopt her!

The Chameleon brings back Tai-Lung so he can fight Po and the Five to keep them busy while: 1) She impersonates Po to frame him for an attack on another village and ruin his reputation, basically replacing the way the Tai-Lung bit was done originally. 2) Zhang steals the Staff of Wisdom from the Jade Palace

Her master plan is to bait Po into fighting her in a staged fight so she can defeat the dragon warrior after making him look like a villain with the Staff of Wisdom, and declares herself the new master of the Valley of Peace.

She gets Tai-Lung on board by promising to make him the next Dragon Warrior using her new authority, but she is ofc lying so she could use him as muscle then throw him back to the spirit realm.

The big hook would come in during the first Tai-Lung rematch. Once Zhen steals the Staff, she or Tai-Lung use it to take Po's chi and his kung fu skills away. And maybe Tai kidnaps Shifu to take him hostage, either as part of his revenge or just extra incentive to draw out Po.

With his powers gone and his reputation outside the Valley in tatters thanks to the Chameleon's tricks, Po needs the Five more than ever. So there's your excuse for your big feel good road trip where the Five get the spotlight, plus Po getting to use his heart as his main strength for change while he helps his friends get their mojo back.

The rest is murky but I know I'd like to have a subplot about Tai-Lung and Zhen (who'd be less… Awkafina-ish, I guess) where he becomes a father figure and ends up having to put himself in Shifu's shoes in a sense the more he got to know her while they were both stuck working under the Chameleon. Plus Shifu trying to apologize to Tai-Lung and get through to him one more time while everyone's favorite angry snow leopard debates forgiveness and redemption and all that.

As for a finale, everybody teams up against the Chameleon, she gets her tail handed to her. Po with his chi back offers Tai-Lung--assuming I don't let him pass onto the Spirit World properly--one more fair fight for the title of Dragon Warrior, but he's decided he's over it. Tai has accepted that Oogway was right to choose Po after all. Instead, Tai decides to use his second chance at life to look after Zhen and travel the land looking for new purpose.

Plus Po and the Five stick together with Po as the Dragon Warrior still as well as the new leader of the valley of peace probably. Oh and Po and Tigress endgame. Obviously.

Would you guys believe me if I said I literally came up with a better plot for Kung Fu Panda 4 in my sleep?

Alien: So the moral of the story is okay to use drugs? Human: What? NO!  Human: How did you get that?! Alien: No one would let the little human join their war let alone notice him until after he took drugs. Alien: After that he became so popular and everyone loved him and let him do what he wanted. Alien: Even the female he wished to mate with finale noticed him. Alien: Are all female super heroes rear exteriors so full? Human: Only when they’re made by Pixar. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alien: I can sympathize with the news man about the hero being a menace. Human: The kid saves people from gang violence and car crashes; how is that menacing? Alien: They web up the criminals hundreds of feet in the air to buildings and then swings away without telling anyone.  Alien: Will anyone come for them? Alien: Will they starve? Alien: Will the webs break loose and plunge them to their deaths?  Alien: Is the city now not littered with strands of web catching animals and air vehicles as the webs flow in the breeze?  Human: They tend to give him a free pass depending how good his quips are.  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alien: He should call himself something else.  Human: You should have seen what he looked like before.  Alien: I have, and they also did not wear a hood but a glass dome.   Alien: THEIR LACK OF PROPER IDENTIFICATION OF HEAD WEAR UPSETS AND CONFUSES ME!!!!!!!  Human: I think you’re taking the name too literally. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Alien: Do any of these people have super powers? Schummer is something of an interesting villain to me because she's very much in the wrong for everything she did but it's also a case of "so what, she was supposed to accept her weakness and die?". A lot of Alchemy Stars villains have this distinction in common: They were all disenfranchised people who were looking for a better path and were then targeted to become Eclipsites. It’s always pointed out too that it’s institutionalized inequality that pushes people to this point, where Sinsa himself lamphades it with “hey how come Luminopolis is the one always producing people who choose to become monsters when you guys are by far the least at threat from them?”.  With Schummer, she was the weakest of an already weak race and constantly told that she had to accept it. The adults around her were always dismissive to her plight, her bullies tried to get her killed, and then when she’s the only survivor of that incident they try to frame her for murder and lock her up to starve to death. It’s not really all that much of a surprise she would want every Caelestite fucking dead after that. Every other character and faction always has reverent words for the Caelestites, but we only ever properly see them in Schummers POV. Schummer herself even questioned it as a child, stating that the only reason Caelestites are a peaceful race is specifically because they don’t have any proper combat ability unlike Aurorians that can use Luminatics (magic), and if they could, then Caelestities would easily wage war and conquer others (which seems to be the case in a weird way, since apparently they had a council of elders and these elders were apparently doing some shady shit). Even when Schummer returned fully transformed and tried to save the few people who were at least kind to her, they treated her as a monster and locked her away. 

Navigators revenge becoming slightly different after learning some of this is a smart move, honestly. They don’t hate Schummer for doing what she had to do in order to survive and become powerful, but they can’t excuse the wanton destruction she caused as part of her revenge. So instead of taking the chance to actually kill her themselves, they just choose to ignore her and let her die from her own power. Schummer wanted so badly to be important, and the Navigator will not give her even their revenge.

Aaaaa this was so lovely to listen to :D And oh no, you have hit the Old Favourites button so now I'm going to babble about my first love :D

Funny story: Star Wars is the first fandom I ever wrote fic for, before I knew what the internet was. I had a binder and it was nearly 30 years ago. I also managed to get the special edition DVDs that were very briefly available and had the full and original edit of the film. None of this Head is Pasted on nonsense :D

But yes! This fic! This fic I'd wanted to do for ages! I even have another one that was a much, much larger version of the same concept, where - after the battle of Endor - Luke and Leia realise they have unanswered questions about where they both come from and go on a search.

I wish I'd had the brain to finish that story but it got so caught up in the planning, right down to the point of designing costumes for the clusters of rebel fighters on Naboo, that I never actually managed to pull all the threads together and I drifted away into other fandoms.

But then the sequels came out (and my feelings for them are... hm. I can safely say this was very much a case of returning to my roots and hugging them close for a reason) and I remembered this was a story I'd wanted to tell for an age, so behold, I did it :D

Regarding my knowledge of canon, I'm old guard. I had almost every one of the extended universe books up until the point they killed Anakin Solo and Chewbacca. After that I stopped reading any of the books (until they gave Timothy Zahn official canon Thrawn novels! Best villain of my heart! :D :D :D) , but I did indulge in The Clone Wars and Rebels around the same time as TFA.

Everything in this fic is informed by those things :D I still have no idea what the actual force-ghost lore is so I was fully hand-waving that bit because I like the juicy angst :)

As for Leia, I adore her not being Jedi-proper - trying and going "nah, not my thing", but still having very strong intuition. She also has the same kind of charisma and leadership that had people following Anakin so loyally. Not to mention the impulsiveness of grabbing a gun out a guy's hand and blowing a hole in a wall to who knows where because gdi, someone has to do something.

In this particular story, my headcanon is that force-sensitive people are the ones who can see force-ghosts, but it's not necessarily something she can control. I loved the idea of her having to work so hard to even make that connection because part of her really didn't want to. The conflict of facing the man but also the monster.

But once the connection was there, it's the same as it was with Luke in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Once she knows why she could sense Luke's presence, she can reach out to him much more easily in Return of the Jedi. "He's alive. I can feel him."

I just - I wanted my angry, grieving, victorious rebel Princess to get a chance to have even a speck of the character stuff that Luke got. He lost his aunt and uncle and ten-minute-mentor, sure. She saw her entire home planet obliterated before her eyes and was tortured immediately afterwards and was sentenced to death, but she wrapped Luke in a blanket and comforted him?

Nah, George. Nah. My girl needed some processing and closure herself.
