proship culture is feeling like you’ve genuinely grown as a person once you finally realize you’re not an anti anymore, but also feeling ashamed of your past. i was a wild renheng shipper and i hated any other ship because “renheng is canon”, “blade and dan heng can’t be shipped with women, they’re gay”, stuff like that. i especially hated danmarch, jingren, and bladeliu. then i was introduced to darkshipping and only after i stopped denying that the label fits me (which took a while) did i realize people are allowed to ship whatever and i shouldn’t wish death upon them for going against canon. now, aside from renheng, i like danmarch, jingren, and bladeliu. i want to go back and stop myself from arguing over harmless ships

RPF is one of the most normal, mainstream, overwhelmingly popular genres of fiction ever. It is incredibly common, extremely widespread, and is objectively a pillar of media genres.

Arguing over RPF in fanfic is incredibly stupid. If you have the stance that RPF is "bad" or shouldn't be allowed, not only are you exposing yourself as someone with absolutely zero awareness of actual film and literary culture, but you are proclaiming that some of the most famous and universally acclaimed works in modern history do not deserve to exist. It is such an ignorant and telling opinion for anyone to have.

Proship culture is… PROSHIPPERS STOP SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH ANTIS PLEASE. I know it can be so hard cutting off friends, especially if you’ve had them for a long time. But lying and constantly covering your tracks (by making separate accounts, faking art/writing styles, etc) is only going to stress you out more! And guess what!!! They will find out eventually. The truth ALWAYS gets out. And the fallout of that is always much, much worse than if you just distance yourself from them. Find new, cooler, more supportive friends. Do not attach yourself to hateful people who will inevitably turn on you. You’re worth so much more than that.
