Ever wondered how Bakugo and Deku's original prototypes are literally a mix of what they look like right now?

Like Bakugo(Gogo) was supposed to have GREEN eyes and Izuku was supposed to have RED eyes. But not just that, their personalities were literally supposed to be the opposite too.

Originally, Deku would have been more introverted and more edgy, broody than he is right now, who didn't really smile much and was definitely not the optimistic, friendly and cute version that we know right now. Even his freaking personality was similar to how Bakugo is right now, even the way he puts his hands in his pockets

Meanwhile Bakugo was supposed to be the friendly, outgoing one who is too innocent for his own good, talks without thinking and doesn't realize he's accidentally hurting the people around him cause he's too socially clueless to pick up on other's emotions and social cues, while also having a secret "sadistic" side that comes out during battle.

So if we think about it, it's not that their original prototypes switched, it's that they literally merged.

Bakugo is still pretty bad at social cues and he is honest to the point of being an ass to others, except it's not cause he's cluelessly innocent, he just somehow ended up with Deku prototype's original design...aka grumpy looking boy who barely ever smiles and also hates social interaction. Plus the red eyes.

And Deku is the one that looks like a ball of sunshine now, who's innocently optimistic and overly friendly, but still having that edge of badassery that his prototype did. And he got Gogo's green eyes now.

On top of that, Bakugo's prototype was supposed to have the nickname Yamikumo for Deku that symbolized his personality(because he's always so reckless), just like how Deku now calls Bakugo Kacchan, which is also symbolic to his personality (many people have pointed out that it can also be translated to Victory-chan).

So, basically, Hori had this idea first to have all these characters and make Uraraka Deku's love interest and have Bakugo have his own character development arc. And then he decided to change things up and throw away the Uraraka being the love interest thing, and make Izuku and Bakugo's storyline tied together instead. And the fact that their current characters are literally a mix of their original prototypes just proves how much Horikoshi meant their characters being tied together.

Their current designs are a mix of their original designs, the current Deku is both the original Deku AND the original Bakugo, and the current Bakugo is both the original Gogo AND the original Deku. Isn't this what soulmates are?One wouldn't exist without the other, they say. Well, I'm pretty sure this redesign was intentional on Hori's part.

why are ppl so negative on the ending for mha like yea they haven't spoke in a while but that's because they're all busy and their schedules don't line up... it's not that they're purposefully ignoring him or anything😭 plus they could've talked like idk a month or two ago, just maybe not in a while in their time since they have diff scheds, theyre all working adults anyway so they prolly dont got the chance to meet up or chat often😭

bakugo works his fucking ass off just to get a damn paycheck for the support gear, and the others also care enough to fund for the support gear too, ofc they care, they're just busy😭 support gear with a similar quirk design to Ofa could singlehandedly be crazily expensive and ofc since bakugo and allmight were the heart of the operation, theyd want it top notch quality and the best for izuku, so it mustve really took a long and hard time for things to work out in the end 🙁

I’m Declaring War Against “What If” Videos: Project Copy-Knight

What Are “What If” Videos?

These videos follow a common recipe: A narrator, given a fandom (usually anime ones like My Hero Academia and Naruto), explores an alternative timeline where something is different. Maybe the main character has extra powers, maybe a key plot point goes differently. They then go on and make up a whole new story, detailing the conflicts and romance between characters, much like an ordinary fanfic.

Except, they are fanfics. Actual fanfics, pulled off AO3, FFN and Wattpad, given a different title, with random thumbnail and background images added to them, narrated by computer text-to-speech synthesizers.

They are very easy to make: pick a fanfic, copy all the text into a text-to-speech generator, mix the resulting audio file with some generic art from the fandom as the background, give it a snappy title like “What if Deku had the Power of Ten Rings”, photoshop an attention-grabbing thumbnail, dump it onto YouTube and get thousands of views.

In fact, the process is so straightforward and requires so little effort, it’s pretty clear some of these channels have automated pipelines to pump these out en-masse. They don’t bother with asking the fic authors for permission. Sometimes they don’t even bother with putting the fic’s link in the description or crediting the author. These content-farms then monetise these videos, so they get a cut from YouTube’s ads.

In short, an industry has emerged from the systematic copyright theft of fanfiction, for profit.

Project Copy-Knight

Since the adversaries almost certainly have automated systems set up for this, the only realistic countermeasure is with another automated system. Identifying fanfics manually by listening to the videos and searching them up with tags is just too slow and impractical.

And so, I came up with a simple automated pipeline to identify the original authors of “What If” videos.

It would go download these videos, run speech recognition on it, search the text through a database full of AO3 fics, and identify which work it came from. After manual confirmation, the original authors will be notified that their works have been subject to copyright theft, and instructions provided on how to DMCA-strike the channel out of existence.

I built a prototype over the weekend, and it works surprisingly well:

On a randomly-selected YouTube channel (in this case Infinite Paradox Fanfic), the toolchain was able to identify the origin of half of the content. The raw output, after manual verification, turned out to be extremely accurate. The time taken to identify the source of a video was about 5 minutes, most of those were spent running Whisper, and the actual full-text-search query and Levenshtein analysis was less than 5 seconds.

The other videos probably came from fanfiction websites other than AO3, like fanfiction.net or Wattpad. As I do not have access to archives of those websites, I cannot identify the other ones, but they are almost certainly not original.

Armed with this fantastic proof-of-concept, I’m officially declaring war against “What If” videos. The mission statement of Project Copy-Knight will be the elimination of “What If” videos based on the theft of AO3 content on YouTube.

I am acutely aware that I cannot accomplish this on my own. There are many moving parts in this system that simply cannot be completely automated – like the selection of YouTube channels to feed into the toolchain, the manual verification step to prevent false-positives being sent to authors, the reaching-out to authors who have comments disabled, etc, etc.

Can't stop thinking about a BakuDeku au where even as he funds his suit Kaachan is like, hell no I'm not gonna let Izuku not do hero work, and so proposes that they start an agency together and be hero partners.

Izuku, for the most part, helps with training and is also the "man in the chair" who coordinates raids, cause as Kacchan puts it "Like hell I'd take orders from anyone else. you're the one I want to have watching my back".

Eventually, Izuku gets little camera drone "Deku bots" (yes they have the little ears) he can use for recon and also prototype pieces for the suit he doesn't know is being made, such as cable gauntlets and smoke screens, so he can be out in the field.

And anytime they get interviewed and the reporter treats Izuku as his sidekick or a dispatcher or second, Dynamight will very forcefully call Deku a Hero and his "Partner".

He does not specify what kind of partner. this does exactly what you think it will.

How long does this go on before they actually get together?

“Izuku,” you mutter from behind him, bracing one of your arms with your opposite hand as you try again to help zip him into the prototype for his newest and “safest suit ever” (as Hatsune claimed via phone call with the two of you last night) but the fabric simply has zero give where it stretches over his chest. “Baby, I think she must have sized this incorrectly.”

Your husband shakes his head, the slightly overgrown curls at the base of his neck swaying gently with the motion. You loosen your grip on the zipper pull, indentations left in your fingers from the grip you just had on the small piece of metal and reach up toward his neck and gently scratch at the hairs with your nails. He sighs contentedly in response.

“No, I sent her the measurements myself. I know they were correct.”

You hum, still gently stroking the base of his neck and resting your cheek against the defined and still exposed muscle of his back. Turning your face slightly, you place a kiss just below the center of his shoulder blades and he reaches around his back to rub your back.

“How does it look from the front?” You ask smoothly, the dulcet sound of your voice drawing your husband to pull away from you for a moment so brief you barely have time to miss him. You’re met with the front view of his suit, the fabric buckling across his now eye-level chest.

You sigh dreamily and he chuckles from above you, bringing his hands to your hips to press your body against his.

“You like it?”

A hum is your response, wrapping your arms around his waist and reaching for the zipper at the back to tug it down from its stuck position. Heat rises inside of you, your fingers gracing every divot, scar, and defined muscle as you tug it down lower and lower.

“I think we should re-take your measurements.”

The zipper finally reaches the bottom and you nearly sigh at the sight of Izuku stretching his arms above his head, the rest of the suit riding up and sinking into the definition of his stomach, his thighs, his bulge…

Izuku notices the little glimmer in your eyes as you look over him, every piece of him more essential to you than the last. He dips at the waist and finds your face easily, pressing his lips to yours and working his arms out of the suit and letting it rest halfway off around his waist.

“We can worry about that later, right?”

You hum against his lips and kiss him again, the promise of later something far from your mind.
