In the dining room the wall fabric, a French printed cotton in an Indian tree-of-life pattern, is the backdrop for a large French Provincial table and painted Portuguese chairs. The combination gives the room an islandy feel.

In 2021, archaeologists in Sbeitla, Tunisia , the ancient city of Sofitola, uncovered a 1,500 year-old Byzantine bathtub. Made from stone, this tub exemplifies region’s advanced craftsmanship and the luxurious lifestyle during the Byzantine period. The discovery provides insight into the wealth and sophistication of the city, revealing how even provincial towns like Sbeitla embraced high standards of architecture and infrastructure.

chapter two — chapter three — chapter four — chapter five — chapter six — chapter seven
CHAPTER ONE.
"Teenage dream - Stephen Dawes"
It was weird, not in a bad sense but it was weird. I was going to the city - somewhere so crowded and somewhere which is not as peaceful as damyang. I always wanted to study literature and i love the depth of words and poems. I got admission in Seoul university, One of the biggest universities of South Korea. My aunt lives in Seoul, and she's so nice. She and her husband are CEOs of multinational corporations. Wiping the sweaty palm from my jeans i stood up as soon as the train announced that we were reached.
As soon as I got out, and almost reached i was pulled in a bone crushing hug. She groaned softly and looked at her, min-ah. My cousin. She smiles softly, i patted her back softly feeling a little awkward by the sudden hug. Min-ah looked at me "God, i missed you. It's been years since i saw you. Was the journey okay?"
Well, that's new.
"Yeah, it was more than okay" I smiled softly and nodded. She grabbed the luggage i was about to decline but she already handed it over to her guards. She grabbed my hand and dragged me towards her black expensive ravishing Porsche. After a while, i was standing in front of a big huge mansion.
This striking house can be seen as the center piece of a bustling provincial town with regal splendor. Its monumental appearance decorated with complex mosaics and columns foreshadowed a lavishness that lay in store for guests inside.
You were welcomed by a strong aroma of herbal fragrances and flower scents that came from the guests that surrounded you just before getting to the huge arch through which you had to pass. The grand halls and luxurious chambers of the mansion showcased glorious architecture and dominance with each serving multiple utilizations.
Mythical dramas and charming rural scenes were embroidered onto the tapestries that were hung across the wall and marble floors could be seen reflecting the soft flicker of the oil lamps. It seemed the very walls of the mansion have a story to tell and every person present was in awe at that particular moment.
At the center of the mansion was a large atrium that was enclosed by columns and ideal from an architectural point of view to allow ventilation to the entire mansion.
That's basically nerve wrecking.
Min-ah went to call the aunt, i was fidgeting with my soft baby blue cardigan In the middle of the living room. I was looking around roaming my eyes, suddenly someone caught my wrist and pulled me inside the room. A squeal left my mouth. I looked up, a strong chest and a dark pair of eyes looking down at my hazel brown ones. I didn't know what was happening, who he was and there were another two men sitting behind him looking as scary as him.
"You were late, come on. Strip " the guy said who was holding me. What? Strip? My heart leaped in my chest, what is going on. Tears gathered in my eyes. "I-I'm not what you think I'm" i can't help but stammer.
"Taehyung, i don't think I'm in the mood to have sex anymore look at her and her outfit" one guy said looking at her in disgust and the style, he had a tattooed arm and silver chain around his neck. Dark eyes and raven hair styled. He was handsome but that thought didn't cross my mind in this situation. Morever that taehyung guy didn't leave me from his iron grip. Taehyung looked down at her.
❝L-let go of me.❞ she struggled in his grip, she pushed him harshly. He chuckles "oh, feisty little thing aren't you?" Soft pants leave my mouth back off slowly until the wall hits my back. His hands were either side of my face. "We said to strip didn't we?" He snarled. She flinched, she shook her head. Taehyung's hand was about to go her cardigan she sobbed softly wiggling.
"Come on Jungkook, let's have some fun." The blonde guy said chucking staring at her eyes - it was captivating for him. The Jungkook guy shakes his head and looks at her in a disapproving look. "No thank you, i have better taste and better style for women. Look at her she looks like a girl from the countryside."
Well i am from the countryside.
And taehyung was pushed away by min-ah.
I have never been this happier.
"Are you guys crazy?" She yelled at them, she put me behind her. I immediately held her back shirt not looking at either of them. "This isn't some of your prostitute, fuckers." She snarled at them, but none of them were affected by her outburst. Their eyes were on her and I shrunk under it. Especially from the taehyung guy. "The one you wanted is here " she pointed, a beautiful woman was standing in seductive clothes.
This is bad. I want to get out.
Min-ah held my hand and dragged me out of the hell hole room. She sighs softly and looked at my devastated state. She pulled me in a soft hug and apologizes to me "I'm sorry, they are just, god this is embarrassing." She sighs softly.
"Who are they?" I can't help but ask her, i wiped my cheeks softly from my back hand staring at her waiting for her response. "They are my brothers."
Brothers? Oh no.
"Jimin, taehyung and Jungkook, well they are completing their degree in Seoul university basically completing their bachelors." Min-ah said softly looking at her. "Cyra, no matter what. Stay away from them. I know you must be thinking why I'm saying this for my own brothers. But you - you're naive. And they love that."
I sighs softly and looked down, min-ah showed me my room. It was pretty, a big size bed with tied in a soft white sheets and a pretty desk perfect for my studies. Grey, skin light walls. It was comforting. I smiles softly and thank min-ah. "You will meet eomma in dinner, okay?" She said softly and i nodded.
As she left, i laid down for a while and stared into the ceiling. The incident wasn't leaving my mind. I shivered thinking about it again.
Maybe life is city of Seoul wouldn't be as easy as i thought. I closed my eyes and sleep consumed me.

How densely packed are the larger Wardin cities? Is there any notion of urban planning?
In general, there's a solid notion of urban planning in each city, but most of the major coastal cities have experienced tremendous growth of an urban commoner class in the past 200 years that has outstripped ability to adapt. These are pretty crowded places by and large and pack a lot of people into relatively small areas.
The best and worst simultaneously is Godsmouth. It actually has the most coordinated urban planning from the ground up, but the layout of the city makes Accommodation to growth very difficult. It's the only major city whose core area (which historically was The City Itself) is entirely walled, with its unwalled outskirts having grown rapidly to accommodate.
It also exhibits the polar opposite class-space stratification of most of the other cities. Wardi nobility has historically been defined upon landowning (in most cases physically occupying the land they own in defensible architecture), and as such most nobles live in the agricultural areas fringing the cities rather than in the core. Godsmouth follows the opposite pattern and is the hub for the recent (within the past two centuries) 'new money' nobility class (developed out of mercantile wealth rather than historical landowning). The architecture of the city itself is very distinctly stratified by class, with living within the innermost of two walls being a privilege reserved for the upper classes (as well as being where most major temples and governmental offices are housed). The outer walled area predominantly holds a sort of ambiguous 'middle class' (considered commoners but occupying positions of moderate material wealth) as well as most urban services/guilds, which is itself a fairly new feature and not something that has become fully stabilized within this society.
The urban poor have largely spilled out into newer developments surrounding the outer walls (built up from pre-existing farming towns/villages) that are now an extension of the city proper. These are very crowded, with the expansion of this population cutting into much of the arable land that provides for the city. This growth began as just 'squatters' building homes where they could, but has been taken over and managed by provincial officials that have directed this expansion into fairly coherent neighborhoods built into the infrastructure.
The urban takeover of significant swaths of farmland is a major concern. Godsmouth is increasingly reliant on imports of grain rather than its immediate farmlands to provide for its population (the province itself also has none of its own tributaries to supply grain locally). This has worked for most of its contemporary history (being THE center for sea trade in the region and receiving tremendous volumes of grain) but makes this place very, very vulnerable to famines.
The use of mass-housing is most prominent here, with most new constructions of homes being in the form of (small) 'apartment' buildings (usually with each being 2-3 stories and containing anywhere between 2-10 living areas). These apartments occur both in the first inner ring and the outer sprawl, though tend to be smaller and nicer on the inner side. These are usually built side by side with tiny alleys in between, and tend to be the dirtiest areas (waste is often dumped out alley windows, where built-in grooves at least Eventually wash it into sewers).
Godsmouth Does have some pretty damn good infrastructure. Imperial Bur left it with some very solid water/sewage systems, which has been expanded and further improved upon in the centuries since. It gets a bad rep in other parts as being claustrophobic, smelly, and dirty, (noted for having incense burnt 24/7 in its apartment neighborhoods, with the resulting effect being the aroma of human body smell and shit mixed with sweet musk and rosemary) but the infrastructure and planning that is keeping it from being Much Worse is underappreciated. It's also noted positively for its relative lack of street dogs (which is a mixed bag, as these animals Do help clean refuse) and the unique feature of urban hyenas living permanently and (mostly) peacefully in its unwalled sprawl.
Among the other provincial capitals, urban population levels from highest to lowest are Wardin > Ephennos > Erubinnos > Jaitse > Lobera > Erub.
All of these cities are spread over larger areas of land (having been built up around naturally defensible geography with small central fortress areas) and are a lot less tightly packed. All of them have developed water systems, but many of these cities' water infrastructure was built (or at least broadened) much more recently and varies in quality. Out of these cities, only the first three make large scale use of tightly packed apartment complexes for the urban poor. None of these have had the same issues with development severely encroaching on neighboring farmland. Most have intentionally followed strategies of building up nearby towns + expanding farm development to previously uncultivated land + intensifying/expanding livestock production on unarable grassland/scrub to accommodate population growth (severely restricting the growth of an urban commoner class by strongly maintaining and attempting to acquire land for its landed nobility + agricultural peasantry systems).

When thinking of Prussian architecture most likely images of Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s Classicism or Wilhelminian Historicism come to mind. What is often forgotten is the fact that Prussia continued to exist after the First World War and the overturn of emperor Wilhelm II. as one of 18 states of the Weimar Republic.
Under these circumstances Prussia modernized and quite radically changed its architectural appearance: out with the old, in with new might have been the motto of the state administration since new buildings were predominantly designed in the spirit of the Neues Bauen.
This transition and its built manifestations are the topic of the present book, published late last year by Duncker & Humblot: „Preußische Moderne: Vom Ende der Pracht und einer neuen Baukunst 1918–1933“ by Ingo Sommer explores the paths and developments of Prussian state architecture in its 13 provinces and provides the first comprehensive overview of this strand of Prussian architecture.
But before venturing out into the different provinces, Sommer recounts the Prussian architectural development before and after the First World War and clarifies the lines of development: modern architecture in Germany originated from plural sources of which the Bauhaus was one among many. Of equal importance for the shift towards modernism were the Prussian building authorities whose personnel and mindset the author also analyzes. But in the main part of the book the author explores the modern architecture in the 13 provinces and shows how widely modernist architecture was proliferated: from Berlin to Königsberg and from Husum to Duisburg Sommer documents Prussian modern architecture and also names the local actors responsible for it. In passing the reader encounters big names like Erich Mendelsohn, Hans Poelzig or Ernst May but the most interesting buildings actually are those by local building officials who brought modern architecture to the provinces and provincial cities.
In painstaking accuracy Ingo Sommer has compiled buildings and architects in the Prussian provinces, a meritorious effort that sheds new light on interwar modernism in Germany. A highly recommended book!

According to the description, this 1987 manor style home in Mcmurray, PA is newly remodeled to meet a Medieval Aesthetic. 6bds, 7ba, $999,900. Medieval? You tell me.
I do not recall the Medieval style having gold floral wallpaper.
Matching powder room.
I'm gonna say Italian Provincial, especially the gold angel above the fireplace.
Where the hell are they getting Medieval from?
Maybe the light fixture can loosely be called Medieval. I like the color of the double sink.
The cabinets and flooring are lovely. I like the black counters, also. Not sure about the wallpapered ceiling, though.
Wow, this is some fancy everyday dining area off the kitchen. When I saw the picture on the table, I thought it was an office.
This may be the fanciest laundry room I've ever seen.
Youch! Look at this dining room. Carved beams. There's a knight and stuff. I guess you could call this Medieval on Steroids.
Look at the bar. Wow, fancy Medieval style. They even have what looks like a church window from an architectural salvage yard. I'm disappointed that the rest of the house isn't like this.
Stunning wood in the office, plus a fireplace. Look at the ceiling. I imagine that this could be a library or den if you don't need an office.
The primary bedroom takes us back to the castles of Italy with the cherub mural on the ceiling.
Roman en-suite.
The bedrooms are very large. I wonder if this is the primary. It's very big and has a fireplace.
The en-suite has a vanity table and a marble tub surround.
Or, maybe this is the primary. I can't tell. The carpet needs to be stretched, there's an office in the corner and doors to the patio.
Look at the Zen statue in the niche and the and the etched mirrors. This is a serene retreat. This home's decor is all over the place, but that's okay.
A child's bedroom. Very sophisticated.
Interesting. An architectural salvage church pew and what looks like a confessional simulation.
Looks like we're in an attic family room.
Cool enclosed patio has a pool, hot tub, shrine, statues, sitting area, and a mural. Looks like a castle back here.
Very interesting home. I'd buy it. Looks like there's a tower- I wonder if there's a turret room.
.54 acre lot on a cul-de-sac.

tell to me about the info
Really??? 👉👈
Okkk soooooo this is our project up in Calgary. Recently there's been a lot of drama about it as the provincial Cons attempted to cancel the project due to them being owned by Oil lobbies, but due to the accumulated $200million in fines for not honoring contracts made with construction companies had to go back and build at least half of the train line.
Now out of the 8 stops on the new line, there are really only 4 I'm mega invested in.
Ogden-

This is the one closest to my house. There's a few extra pieces of info that can't be seen by the maps, mainly that the reason for all this Plaza space in the front is due to the fact that they are also building a skate park about 2 blocks away and when I asked about the potential hostile architecture being added to the station they actually pointed out they wanted skaters to go to the Plaza and have ppl use bikes/skates/boards/etc.. within the space!!also that events could be held there in the summer.
The second thing is that this is across the street from our local pub/petstore/chruch/playgroup in a kinda strip mall type thing. Meaning people will have access to these things from the other side of the community without driving which is great particularly in the winter when we have -60c temps sometimes. Also as a result of the higher traffic they are completely redoing the crosswalk/adding bus stops within this area which is well over due as it's a super big hazard!
Additionally the heated bus stops as well as a noise barrier for the Canadian Rail line that is sooo noisey on our street.
Lynn/Millican-

This one is a little less exciting, but basically there's this stretch of land that's primarily for baseball diamonds meaning its barren come winter. Within the corner of said park, they're adding this station with a bus hub, better crosswalks, and is the other end of my community.
There's also fruit trees and a "park and go" parking lot - which was apart of a program by city originally came up with in the 80s basically allowing free parking at a train station to encourage people to park at the station then take the train into the cities center (which at the time was primarily offices but nows a lot of residential and retail spaces). This was basically to avoid traffic jams and over parking in the core of the city. Given that we have over 200 parking lots (which cost between 19-25$/hr when our minimum wage is $15/hr) this is exciting to see them invest in this style again!
26th Ave-

Now this one I'm so jazzed for!!! This location is in a spot where basically 1 bus goes by regularly and half the community is still unaccessable except by foot without sidewalks. Now, as we can see they are adding extra crosswalks and its also right next door to a farmers market!! Our oldest one in the city and is so popular people are constantly fighting over the parking and this will make it sooo much safer. Attached to the market is also a theater which is great for ease of access to arts!
Ramsay/Inglewood

This one i have the BIGGEST crush on. So we see this 2 tier station here? This is because this station is going to be adjacent to an overpass. They've done a lot of work to add murals to this spaces

So spaces like this ^^ but in place of those ANNOYING stairs to get up to this second road there will be a station with an elevator and heated seating and bike parking. Basically letting 2 separated communities having much easier access to each other and exteneral transit as well as the bike paths (seen in the lower photo as well)
Based on estimations they should be done the stations by the end of the summer and then additionally the train should be up and running by 2026 at latest!! Aaaah!!

Wari Civilization
The Wari Civilization flourished in the coastal and highland areas of ancient Peru between c. 450 and c. 1000 CE. Based at their capital Huari, the Wari successfully exploited the diverse landscapes they controlled to construct an empire administered by provincial capitals connected by a large road network. Their methods of maintaining an empire and artistic style would have a significant influence on the later Inca civilization.
The Wari were contemporary with those other great Middle Horizon (c. 600 - 1000 CE) cultures centred at Tiwanaku and Pukara. The more militaristic Wari were also gifted agriculturalists and they constructed canals to irrigate terraced fields. The economic stability and prosperity this brought allowed the Wari to implement a combined strategy of military might, economic benefits, and distinct artistic imagery to forge an empire across ancient Peru. Their superior management of the land also helped them resist the 30-year drought period which during the end of the 6th century CE contributed to the decline of the neighbouring Nazca and Moche civilizations.
The Wari were undoubtedly influenced by contemporary cultures, for example, appropriating the Chavin Staff deity — a god closely associated with the sun, rain, and maize, all so vital to cultures dependent on agriculture and the whims of an unreliable climate. They transformed it into a ritual icon present on textiles and pottery, spreading their own branded iconography and leaving a lasting legacy in Andean art.
Huari
The capital at Huari (25 km north of modern Ayacucho) is located at an altitude of 2,800 m and is spread over 15 square kilometres. It was first settled around 250 CE and eventually had a population possibly as high as 70,000 at its peak. Huari shows typical features of Andean architecture: densely packed wall-enclosed rectangular structures which can be further divided into a maze of compartments. The city's walls are massive (up to 10 metres high and 4 metres thick) and built using largely unworked stones set with a mud mortar. Buildings had two or three stories, courtyards were lined with stone benches set in the walls, and drains were stone-lined. The floors and walls of buildings were generally covered with plaster and painted white.
There is little distinction in Wari architecture between public and private buildings and little evidence of town planning. A royal palace has, however, been identified in the northwest section of the city, its oldest area of habitation and called Vegachayoq Moqo. A now ruined temple was located in the Moraduchayuq compound in the southeast of the city. It was built in the 6th century CE and had subterranean parts with the whole structure once painted red. Like other buildings at the site it was deliberately destroyed and ritually buried. The city seems to have been abandoned c. 800 CE for reasons unknown.
Tombs have been excavated at Huari which contained fine examples of Wari textiles. Ceramics are also amongst finds at the site. A royal tomb was discovered in the Monjachayoq zone which consists of 25 chambers on two different levels, all lined with finely cut stone slabs. In addition, a shaft descends to a third level chamber which has the shape of a llama. Finally, a circle chamber was cut out at a fourth level down. The llama-shaped tomb, looted in antiquity, was the royal resting place and dates to 750-800 CE.
Huari was once surrounded by irrigated fields and fresh water ran through the city via underground conduits. Further indicators of prosperity are the presence of areas dedicated to the production of specific goods such as ceramics and jewellery. Precious materials for these workshops and imported goods indicate trade with far-flung places: shells from the coast and Spondylus from Ecuador, for example. The presence of buildings used for storage at Huari and other Wari cities also indicates a centrally controlled trade network spread across ancient Peru.
