vote in another establishment darling who'll do the same as the last three democratic presidents we've had? or Trump? because those are our options, unless we change something. But, I'm...not really sure what *we* can change.

That's not what "paratext" means.

But it raises the question of whether there is a term for fiction-within-fiction like OP describes? Other than fiction-within-fiction, I mean. I'm not sure I know of a term for it off the top of my head--paratext, metatext, pseudotext, and hypertext all seem like reasonable options but all already have other meanings of their own.

Anybody seen a term, or have a good suggestion for one?

Man I love paratexts. Yessss tell me more about a piece of media that doesn’t exist and that I will never be able to consume in the ways the characters can.
