Is there a plot reason for this scene? Kind of... Not really... Is there a reason for this scene in the fact that it underlines the interwoven bonds that exist within the growing NYC superhero community in a way that feels grounded and real? Abso-goddamn-lutely.

He submitted the above screenshot to ChatGPT because violence was not yet done. It replied:

It should be noted that Roommate Cryptid has been intermittently cackling to himself all evening and repeating "please reconsider" under his breath. I let him read this before posting, and I'm a little concerned about the wheezing now.

Apart from Nathan, Eva is the most recent person that has been cursed. As a scientist and researcher, she started studying the curse, making a lot of progress surrounding the knowledge about the curse as she is one of the only people who actually studied it. She is the one who actually knows the most about it (instead of Beatrix) and writes down her notes in the ancient book that spreads the curse.

Eva and Beatrix despise each other. She frequently calls out Beatrix‘ bullshit she makes up about “ascension“, but Beatrix‘ followers are loyal enough to defend her no matter the facts Eva presents. They prefer the comforting lies Beatrix makes up over the harsh reality that the curse doesn’t come from a higher being that wants to reward them with power. As a result, Eva is ostracized from the others, making her banishment to the void after her death very lonely. She tries to occupy herself by further research, but she knows that her memories of her previous life will start fading at some point (meaning she won't be able to research anymore), and she fears the moments where she doesn’t have anything to distract herself.

When Nathan is cursed, she tries to contact him, as the spirits of those who have been cursed can communicate with each other in their mind. Nathan tries to get to know more about his curse through the ancient book, as everyone who has been cursed has access to editing it and spreading their knowledge to him. But this includes Beatrix and her followers too, and he doesn’t know which pages are reliable.

Even though Eva tried to minimize her usage of her powers as much as possible to keep her body stable, the curse made it impossible for her (as a puenymph) to transform, so she has permanent scales and a snake tail. Slithering around on her tail is difficult and exhausting for her, so most of the time, she uses a wheelchair. She is based on a ball python, specifically one with a “coral glow“ morph!

See the way I write Raven is she’s someone who rarely gives in to anger, part of it is the training she’s got and the tolerance she built up for things that would piss most people off (ya standard operative/soldier stuff). It’s not that she doesn’t feel the anger though, she does, often in full force, but she’s better at compartmentalized it, shoving it into a box and slamming it into the back of her head where it can’t interfere with her focus.

But the thing about that kind of control is that it doesn’t make the anger go away. It builds and builds, and when the right (or unfortunate) situation or person pushes her too far, that box will break.

It starts small, changes in her body language that is almost hard to describe but not impossible to miss, like her eyes turning sharper and cold. There’s no shouting, no dramatic screaming, just this….heavy, ice-cold intensity that kinda makes you go “ah shit I fucked up”

The next is if she gives a verbal warning, you’re basically 80% fucked. It’s quiet but it’s packed with weight. A few words, just baaaarely restrained, enough to put the fear of God into anyone who was stupid enough to cross her.

When she’s fully snapped, her anger isn’t chaotic, it’s quite the opposite. Somehow it’s precise and sharp, because when she was brooding before she breaks she was already calculating “a few” ways to “deal” with the unfortunate dickhead. She was just waiting for an excuse to do it. She’ll aim for damage, not ending, she’ll make sure they regret everything with whatever pain she inflicted which will carry on for days, depending on how fucked the person is.

yeah, I can picture her spewing that in a way like she’s smacking a mosquito away like a nuisance.

Can’t really blame Price for going bonkers since this is Raven that is well, Raven, and it’s as feral as it is controlled. A primal instinct? To be proud and mesmerized by the sheer display of force that is usually contained. There’s just this glint in her eyes that really makes Price goes “damn that’s my wife” XD
