For the ao3 wrapped ask game: 3 and 18 please!
(from this ao3 wrapped post)
3) What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
i forgot until i looked at my stats page but i actually finished QAB this year!!! so, that. it only took me almost FOUR YEARS.
i put off finishing it for a long time (partially because i was hella busy but also) because i really wanted to do the ending justice, and i pulled it off to a degree that im happy with.
18) The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
honestly no one gave me too much trouble this year. i've developed a whole process for getting down characterization, and it makes me feel a little crazy but it works really well for me. takes out a lot of the suffering and guesswork.
the person for whom that process took the most time was probably svarog, from honkai star rail. (from this svarog/gepard fic.) his speech patterns aren't what you'd intuitively expect them to be, given that he's a robot. he's not overly formal and he uses contractions and he's not thrown off by figures of speech. he talks about his emotions and his emotional bonds, and getting his voice down to a level i was happy with just took more time and effort than it usually does.
#answered asks#ask meme#qab#hsr#writing#my writing#anyone who's interested feel free to ask other numbers i love talking about myself lol#if i don't answer right away it's because im in a constant state of death#don't worry about it#btw i am incredibly serious about the svarog x gepard agenda#someday ill go back and finish the next installment...#after the html event maybe

Hero Course Application Denial Reason: Mental Health
Summary: Being a hero is hard work, and to enter it you need to fit certain criteria. One of them is having no mental illness that could be triggered by the work you are entering to a degree deemed unsafe by the authorities.
Bakugou Katsuki doesn’t know this.
Note: I am aware IED is a spectrum even if I mostly only know the extreme cases. I am aware not all mental health is the same. The negative talk of mental health in this story is supposed to be targeted at people who use it as a crutch and don’t try to do anything in order to work with their conditions to be able to lessen the harm towards them or others. The people who just go: not my fault I have X.

When Bakugou Katsuki is six years old, he goes to a therapist who diagnoses him with intermittent explosive disorder. IED for short. It’s theorized his Quirk brings upon it.
Now, Katsuki grows up knowing this. Teachers use it to ignore his outbursts, screaming and attacking the Quirkless kid. It's just a disorder; it’s not his fault.
The doctor speaks about medication or therapy, but the Bakugou family ignores it. There isn't a reason to, given that his behaviour is due to his Quirk. His mother believes it won’t work. Katsuki proudly raises his head and smiles as his Quirk is praised, and they point at him as a perfect hero.
He applies for UA with his head held high.
He is sure to get in.
-
“Denied,” Watanabe Kasumi says as she stamps the words onto the application.
“Hmm?” her coworker and twin, Watanabe Hikaru, says.
“Kid with QAB-induced psychopathy due to being able to block all emotions,” Kasumi says as she puts the paper in the refusal pile. “He applied for heroics.”
“Sounds more like DQD.”
“Both probably,” Kasumi scoffs.
QAB or Quirk Affected Behaviour was when people were heavily affected by their Quirk. Usually, it was just mental and mutation Quirks affected, though there was a case a year or so before where Hadou Nejire was admitted while diagnosed with it due to her needing vitality for her Quirk. Her energized attitude came from that. Most of the time, though, it was just people whose Quirks already affected the brain or added in mutations like animal characteristics. It was not a reason for denying admittance into the hero course by itself. But psychopathy coming from it was.
DQD is a Quirk disorder with three levels: damaging, deliberating and devastating. These Quirks were ones where usage of them harmed the user. Damaging was the most common, and honestly, Kasumi was pretty sure there was a higher rate affected by it. Most didn't know that they had it since it made sense for their Quirks to affect them like that even when theoretically they shouldn't. Deliberating was the second level, which was much more apparent but not incredibly so. Devastating… Well, that was when it horrifically affected you or killed you.
A kid being a psychopath fits the latter.
The siblings continued through the stack of applications, their moves little more than blurs to anyone watching. While they were sitting perfectly normal for them, the reality was that the twins were moving faster than anyone else to go through the stack of papers. Their Quirk was the same: supersonic working speed—or, as their bitter mother called it, ‘Workaholic.’
As long as the twins worked, they were faster than anyone else. As kids, if their mother wasn't forcing them to ignore it, the two could get through homework in seconds, remembering everything as school was their job.
When they got older, they learned their father, never seen by them, was the same. His issue was that he also had QAB. He loved work so much that he was utterly addicted to it. Before the twins were born, he was able to avoid giving in to his condition entirely, but when the twins came and their mother ended up in the hospital for a year due to complications, he had to work harder. He fell into his addiction; no one bothered to stop it, given it wasn't ‘dangerous.’
The twins weren't surprised their mother hated their Quirk when they figured it out. Instead, they made a promise never to let work take over. They got jobs at the same place to focus on each other and remind themselves.
That was when the trouble started. The twins worked fast enough to do the work of hundreds of people, but they also knew how unfair it would be to take all the jobs. So, instead, they accepted positions promising to pay them the same as six people to do the jobs of six people each.
The first place didn't uphold their promise during their first month. They got paid only enough for one person each.
The second place also didn't.
The third place snuck in enough work for ten people each. They only found out thanks to a friend tipping them off.
The fourth place outright demanded the work of thirty the first time they showed up on site, trying to use a new contract they made the night before, attempting to claim the twins signed an agreement they could amend at will.
The idiots didn't remember how both twins got a lawyer to remove that when they first tried it and tried to insist no such thing happened.
That was when Nezu stepped in. The twins did all his administration jobs, which was safer than having many people do them. They also worked as his secretaries for hero work and his secretaries for school. They did the work of hundreds at a much safer rate. Nezu admitted he'd be doing most of it without them anyway, making it easier for them to accept.
“Explosive Quirk kid diagnosed with IED,” Hikaru announces, holding up the paper when he gets it, startling Kasumi from her musing.
“Actual IED or ‘this kid is aggressive but has a Quirk based on explosions?” Kasumi asks.
“The latter,” Hikaru says. “Properly diagnosed and everything. But…”
“Could still be a doctor shrugging his shoulders. Well…”
“Denied,” Hikaru shrugs.
Certain mental illnesses deny you entrance to the hero course. IED was one. If you exploded into violent rages randomly, no one could trust you using your Quirk to save people. What if you got set off and hurt others?
Hikaru pages through the applicant to see what is being done, rolling his eyes when he sees that the kid isn't in therapy. No medication or anything, either.
Figures.
Hope the kid isn’t to upset.
-
“Thank you for your interest in rolling into the UA Hero Course. However we have to deny you on reasons of mental health. IED is on the list of deniable conditions-”
Katsuki stared at the letter, unable to look away. The hag is busy on the phone yelling about suing the school as the old man talks.
Katsuki can't hear a thing.
It's not fair. He can't help his condition. It's not FAIR!
Katsuki screams and stomps off to light his Quirk outside, raging. It's not his fault!
They couldn't do this!
But they could.
“IED is a serious condition for a hero to have. No medication or therapy is foolproof,” the lawyer says. “We will not win this case. It's not even just UA- the Commission itself will not allow anyone with IED to the level Katsuki is diagnosed with, particularly if they are not in therapy or medication, into the hero ranks.”
“What if he goes on medication?”
“UA still doesn't allow it. They have the right as a hero school to do so. Others may do so, but the chances are low.”
Katsuki sits there and feels his dreams vanish.

Notes:
A pet peeve of mine is when people quickly go ‘Bakugou has a condition that makes him angry thus he is completely fine the way he is and also it’s not his fault’. That's not how it works, and claiming it is severely insulting to people with conditions who have put time into overcoming difficulties so they can function in society without hurting themselves or others. Saying Bakugou doesn't need to change if he did have a condition is just excusing his actions.
Plus there are a lot of mental health conditions and physical conditions that can prevent you from being in the army or police force. I can't see how being a hero in MHA is any different. IED is not something to play around with, and I highly doubt they'd be allowed to be heroes even if they are receiving proper treatment.
So I think in a world where Bakugou has it, he’d be forbidden. So boom here it is. I'm not going to confirm if he does or doesn't have it, because I'm also jabbing at the idea that it is because of his Quirk.
I am also now in love with the Watanabe twins.

just reread q.a.b and i was wondering if ur ever gonna release the outline ? <33
sorry,,, i never intend to release the outline.
the outline i referenced in the last chapter is incomplete and based on an old version of qab2 that went very differently from the way actual qab2 played out, and writing a decent readable outline now would be about as much work as just writing a sequel.
i was considering writing a short followup oneshot filled with sections ive already written that didn't fit into the main story, but life has been incredibly busy and i haven't had the time or concentration for it.
if you have any questions about how i planned to continue a specific plot line in qab, im happy to try an answer that. (tho not every plot line had a solid trajectory, and a lot of the future points were "ok now somehow get them to location X so shenanigans tm can happen")

“Camaat nə deyər” qınağına onu sipər edir. Başqalarının gözündə nüfuz qazanmaq, təkəbbür göstərmək üçün uşaqdan barrikada düzəldir. Araq məclisində, qadın salonunda öyünmək üçün uşağı ilə qeyri-insani rəftar edir, onu pisikdirir. Uşağın nə istədiyi soruşmadan, onun imkanlarının fərqinə varmadan, arzularını bilmədən, istedadının, qabiliyyətinin istiqamətini axtarmadan, uşağın insan olduğunu, şüura, ruha, ürəyə və diləyə sahib olduğunu unudaraq qab-qacaq dükanına girən fil kimi uşağın mənəvi aləmini darmadağın edirlər. Halbuki insan öz arzularını reallaşdıranda xoşbəxt olur. İnsan özü olanda ucalır, öz istəklərini gerçəkləşdirdikcə bütövləşir, möhkəmlənir... İnsan özünü dərk etdikcə insan olur, şəxsiyyət olur. Ancaq bu cür valideynlər uşaqlarının arzularını ürəklərində boğurlar. Bu şəxsiyyətə qarşı törədilən cinayətdir, insanın qətlidir, repressiyadır.

Racoon and Swan: Author's note
This is basically just explaining R&S
Alright, so the basics: Izumi is the niece of Aizawa on her mother’s side. Hisashi has been hiding her connection to heroes for years, and Inko is actually estranged from her brother due to her QAB, which has her latching onto ideals and beliefs. As her Quirk is Attraction, she latches onto things and does not let go.
One such belief was that Shouta had a bad Quirk. Now, logically, Inko knew this wasn’t right, but her condition made her unable to really understand it. She was fully aware that this was a toxic idea and chose to estrange herself.
When she got diagnosed, she wrote a letter but chickened out of sending it. Then she died because she was too hopeful her abusive ex had changed. And Izumi was beaten so badly that her jaw broke in 2 places. Around this time, Hisashi began trying to sell Izumi off to the highest bidder, which included the Commission, the MLA, the Bakugous and more. As a quirkless woman, she can give birth to strong children, and they want it.
Dabi is a bastard, but he sees Endeavour in Hisashi when he stumbles upon the man threatening her with his Quirk, so he deals with it. This drew Hawks's attention, and Izumi was taken to the hospital. Aizawa was contacted then.
The letter was found, which was a huge apology and explanation. Inko actually had been updating her will when she died, and Hisashi used his illegal connections to hide it because Shouta would get custody.
Inko was updating her will because she’d been informed she had like an 80% chance of Huntingtons or early onset dementia due to the damage the use of her Quirk caused. She wanted Shouta to have custody.
When he took Izumi in, he uncovered the Commission's corruption and handed it over to Nezu. Izumi recovered with his help, along with Hizashi, who is non-binary and Shouta’s spouse.
Izumi’s jaw had to be rebroken to be correctly set, but while it made her voice clearer, it does cause more pain on bad days. She tends to go nonverbal then.
Now, while Shouta was taking in Izumi, Tensei had also discovered through the whole Commission being investigated by Nezu stuff that his parents were abusing Tenya. The reason was that Tenya was an unplanned child they didn’t want but had to keep since the pregnancy got leaked to the media, and it would look bad if they had an abortion. Tensei really struggled during this period because he couldn’t reconcile the image of his doting parents to the callous ones Tenya had. So Tenya was around a lot for Izumi.
That’s when they got so close and why they’re so touchy with each other. Two abused kids find solace in each other.
Also, around this time, Nemuri and Hizashi were having some addiction issues. They got involved in the party lifestyle of heroics. Hizashi quit cold turkey due to having more responsibilities (a terrible idea, they would admit. They nearly died), but Nemuri struggled. She had a lot of past issues that were heavily triggered by how Izumi was raised. While they all tried to help, they cut contact for about a year because Nemuri was throwing any excuse that she could not get help from them.
She realized what she was doing and got help, though! So, it's all good.
Hawks was given more freedom around this time and began hanging out with Izumi because he felt she freed him. Dabi was shoved into the rehabilitation program to keep him from jail after nearly murdering Hisashi. Here, he was diagnosed with antisocial personality and borderline personality disorder. He takes meds for the stuff and is much more level.
It would take him years to let go of his petty desires to fuck over the Todoroki family. And he doesn’t like them at all. (Okay, maybe Natsuo)
Z came along later. The threesome they’re in is weird and is really just: four parts dangerous horny, two parts forbidden love, and six parts wtf because Z is mean as fuck.
(A side note: Z is only loyal to those who pay her. She is happily a sugar baby for Hawks, who likes it too. Dabi is also a sugar baby. Izumi did not need to know that)
Anyway, all that happened was that Izumi began being trained to be a hero.
This is where the deal with the Commission comes in. A good chunk was removed, but they’re still an organization oozing corruption, and they decided to make a deal. If Izumi agreed to be a broodmare for at least one child, they would hinder people who tried to stop her and provide extra training. Izumi had been scared of what her father planned, but this was… a good deal. She isn’t dumb and knows many people would try to fight her to be a hero. Politicians could be swayed to make laws and prevent her rise, while others could be assholes. So she took the deal. Hawks is the prime candidate, and frankly, the Commission approves of the friendship in hopes of more babies. (It will not happen. Hawks only agrees so no creep can mess with Izumi, and he has Z, who wants kids anyway)
But while the Commission (what’s left of it) agreed, the UA board refused to change the rules and is really angry that the Commission allowed it. This Izumi graduated early to become an apprentice to Aizawa.
The Board hated this, so they overruled Nezu and put Bakugou with Aizawa cause they’re dicks. And wanted to prove that might make right. This is primarily due to them losing a lot of power with a lot of the Commission gone and realizing they are at an extreme disadvantage compared to Nezu now, where before they did have more control. Of course, with Bakugou proving to be… not great, they eat a lot of crow. And many are fired.
So we have this and then: All Might.
Izumi met All Might like canon, but as an apprentice, she could take down the sludge villain herself. All Might was impressed and then stunned she was Quirkless. He had a crisis over it (a bit of jealousy she managed to), and then they slowly began talking. He eventually told her about OFA, but she wouldn’t take it. But she agreed to help him find a suitable successor, who turned out to be Tenya. Who then had a crisis over needing to be perfect, and it was a mess. He got over it, though, as he is already in therapy for the issues his parents caused him.
While this went on, Dabi found Toga. Izumi had called her cute when they briefly met (they had just run into each other on the train; Toga overheard her tell Shouta that and got attached), and Dabi caught the blond stalking Izumi. He’d been finishing the rehab program (even if he ended up being an info broker) and decided to try to help her upon seeing this kid. He’s an asshole, but like he is inspired by the kindness Izumi and Hawks show him.
Toga, though, is complicated. She has a psychosis but is completely aware what she does is wrong. She believes it doesn’t matter because she wants to do it, so she will. She ignores anyone saying otherwise, But she plays along to get to Izumi. I did this because I wanted to explore the idea that you can try your best, but some people don’t want to be helped.
But that’s the background for the story. Other than Momo’s own story, it’s explained in it: her mother was heavily abusive to her by restricting her food intake, undermining her self-confidence, tormenting Momo mentally and more.
We then have the other bits:
The IED stuff: this is based on my knowledge of the disorder and the annoyance I feel when people give it to Bakugou. This kind of disorder is NOT something easily medicated and dealt with. It’s something you constantly fight with, and many severe cases have the patients in the hospital for the rest of their lives because they can’t control themselves. So, in a high-stress environment like heroics, I 100% think it disqualifies you. That was the whole point of this, me going: hey, there are probably a LOT of things other than just an exam to qualify you for heroics.
So, this AU has medical tests, mental health tests and a physical. Bakugou did pass, but he also got a Quirkist to sign off on his mental health report, who did believe his Quirk caused his attitude.
The Vlad King stuff: this was me poking at the fact he does not reign in any of his students. I love Monoma, but god, he should have his ass in so much trouble for his antics. And Kendo! I’ve ranted before, but her entire thing is so abusive and just… she would not be liked in heroics if she kept smacking people like that. So I thought, what if Vlad King has a long history of issues, but Aizawa’s Aizawaness UNTIL overshadowed it? He got his ass in gear to be a better teacher. Cause the guy sucks at it in canon.
So, with him going to therapy and getting help, his classes are better, which draws attention to Vlad King being a lousy teacher. Encouraging competition to an unhealthy degree and letting his students run wild has him in a lot of shit. The issue is he does not accept he’s wrong, more so when he did feel some annoyance that 1A got more limelight.
Of course, he fucked up badly and now lost his job as a teacher, letting my OC ID in. They’re engaged to Tensei but worked in Canada for a long time until their contract ended, so they are happy where they are now.
Class 1C: This is for the students who just failed by a point or failed the physical portion of the entrance exam checklist. Hitoshi is both. They get waitlisted to be able to enter the hero course IF someone is dropped out like Mineta is. Gas Attack is a hero with a highly dangerous Quirk who works for the military. Her Quirk is deadly, and she’s a last resort, but due to this, she has a long history of training and psychological assessment, so she is in charge of ensuring these students are ready. I explored this more in another fic for those who want to look.
The Bakugous: Okay, so this was fun. I usually had them not participate in Bakugou’s nonsense, but here they did. They put a lot of effort into their relationship to cement Bakugou’s stance as a hero. They work full-on with his hero story and want him to be one. Hence, they are trying to cheat for him since they know the kid wouldn’t be good at teamwork. There is also the fact Mitsuki, in this story, is much like her son and drives away most of her friends except Inko, who was too scared to tell her off. Masaru is a Quirkist and thinks Inko is a failure for having a Quirkless daughter, even if he considers Izumi a suitable wife for his son.
And yes- the parents knew Hisashi was abusive. They did think Bakugou saving Izumi was a nice touch. They did not know how bad or that he killed Inko. They thought it was a car accident (the lie he told anyway) that had taken Inko and broken Izumi’s jaw.
Their attempts at a complaint will end with them losing custody though no charges except the damage to their image.
Todoroki: I didn’t expect his plotline. But as I wrote him, I realized that without Izuku in canon, he would have never used his fireside. So I explored that more and had this. His refusal to change leads to his losing the exam and then indirectly causing the kidnapping of Izumi. It’s not great.
Toga: Toga became a mole when Aoyama found out about the rehab program and reported it. AFO made him ask her, and she jumped at the chance to get what she wanted. Aoyama is still a spy, though.
Z as a Spy: Z would have sold out the heroes to the LOV if they hadn’t pissed her off, and if she didn’t get a lot of cash from Hawks (and maybe she’s in love with the two men, she isn’t saying shit). She didn’t know about Toga, but she’d have alerted someone if she had. Z’s shitty morals aside, she does not like how people assume she’s broken for her lack of Quirk and that they thought she or Izumi would jump at the chance to get one.
Shinsou: Shinsou, as said, liked to blame the exam for his loss and not admit he also failed the physical exam. He’s in therapy for his own QAB (yeah, he has it, too), which causes a low level of empathy and a struggle to sympathize or understand the concept of others having feelings. His therapist sucked, though, and pandered too much to the idea that ‘yes, you are a special snowflake’ sort of thing.
This got a bit worse when his dream of being a personal student to Aizawa didn’t happen. If Izumi wasn’t already an apprentice, he would have handled not getting the special training better, but sadly we know what happened. He would have a hard time with ANYONE being the apprentice, though.
I think that’s the bare bones.
Future stuff:
Katsuki- he gets help, and while he never renters the U.A. heroics course, he does end up going into a UA university and becoming a hero. He gets diagnosed with narcissistic behaviours and some low-level anti-social stuff. Being away from his parents helps him, though, really get where he fucked up.
Shouto- Endeavour is exposed, and Shouto is placed into the UA wardship. Gas Attack takes him in, and he goes to therapy. He’s been removed from the hero course for one month due to the training camp, but his willingness to do better helps get him back in.
The LOV—With Shigaraki in jail and the others also arrested, AFO doesn’t get out at all. The doctor eventually gets caught because he gets sloppy without a plan.
MLA—I don’t know if anyone caught it, but they were in cahoots with AFO because instead of getting Dabi, they needed other firepower. Losing Geten put them off-kilter, and later, the heroes took them down.
And… I think that’s it. Hoped you enjoyed it!

The Life of The Prophet Muhammad(pbuh): First Migration, the Year of Sorrow, the Splitting of the Moon
Isra and the Miracle of Miraj (Ascension): Part 1
The Isra and Miraj, one of our Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) greatest miracles, occurred on the 27th night of the month of Rajab, a year and a half before the migration (hijra.)
Jibril came that night and took our Holy Prophet (PBUH) from the Masjid-al-Haram to the Masjid-al-Aqsa on Buraq. Then, he was ascended to the skies so that he would be shown the wonderful activities and the signs that indicate the power of God Almighty one by one. He was allowed to meet all of the prophets in the layers of the sky. Then, the Messenger of Allah was taken to the station of Sidra al-Muntaha (Lote Tree). Then, he went up to the station of Two Bows’ Length (Qab Qawsayn) in the middle of possibility and obligation. He was shown many weird and bizarre things. He heard the speech of God Almighty, who is free from time and place, in a form that we cannot know or understand; and he saw His face. On the same night, he returned home.
God Almighty narrates this miracle, which is related to the personality of His beloved Messenger, as follows in the Quran:
“Glory to (Allah) Who did take His Servant for Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose precincts We did bless― in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He is the one Who heareth and seeth (all things)”
This verse also declares the wisdom behind the miracle Isra and Miraj.
The section regarding the Miraj in Badiuzzaman Said Nursi’s work entitled “The Words” states: “The Ascension is a question that results from the essentials and pillars of belief, and follows on after them, a light that draws strength from the lights of the pillars of belief. For sure, the Ascension cannot be proved independently to irreligious atheists who do not accept the pillars of belief, because it cannot be discussed with those who neither know God, nor recognize the Prophet, nor accept the angels, and who deny the existence of the heavens. Firstly those pillars must be proved.” Then, he answers the question, “What is the wisdom behind Miraj?” as follows, explaining the wisdom behind that great event:
“The wisdom of the Ascension is so exalted that human thought cannot comprehend it. It is so profound that human thought cannot reach it, and so subtle and fine that the intellect cannot see it by itself. But even if the reality of the instances of wisdom in the Ascension cannot be comprehended, their existence may be made known through certain indications. For example, as follows:
“In order to demonstrate the light of His Unity and the manifestation of His Oneness in these levels of multiplicity, the Creator of the universe took an eminent individual as representing all creatures from the furthest levels of multiplicity to the source of Unity by means of an Ascension that was like a link. And there, addressing him as representing all conscious beings, He explained to him the Divine purposes and made them known through him, and observed through his gaze the beauty of His art and perfection of His Dominicality in the mirrors of His creatures, and caused him to observe them.
Moreover, according to the testimony of His works, the Maker of the world possesses infinite beauty and perfection. The two of them, both beauty and perfection, are loved for themselves. Since this is so, the Possessor of that beauty and perfection has an infinite love for His beauty and perfection. That infinite love of His is manifest in many different ways in His works of art. He loves His works of art because He sees His beauty and perfection within them. The most lovable and elevated among the works of art are animate beings. And the most lovable and elevated among animate beings are conscious beings. And by reason of their comprehensiveness, the most lovable among conscious beings are to be found among human beings. The most lovable individual among human beings is the one who has most fully developed his potentiality and displayed the samples within it of the perfections manifested in all creatures, and spread among them. Thus, in order to see at one point and in one mirror all the varieties of His love spread through all creatures and to display, through the mystery of His Oneness, all the varieties of His beauty, the Maker of beings will take a person who is at the degree of being a luminous fruit of the tree of creation and whose heart is like a seed containing the essential truths of that tree, and will demonstrate the belovedness of that individual, who represents the universe, through an Ascension that is like a thread linking the seed, which is the origin, with the fruit, which is the end. He will draw him to His presence and honor him with the beauty of the vision of Himself. And, in order to cause him to spread that sacred state to others, He will favor him with His Word and entrust him with His Decree.
“In order to look at this exalted wisdom, we shall observe it through the telescope of two comparisons.
First Comparison:
As is explained in detail in the story-comparison in the Eleventh Word, there was an illustrious king who had vast treasuries and in those treasuries many varieties of jewels were to be found. He had much skill in strange crafts, comprehensive knowledge of innumerable curious arts, and erudition and learning in numberless wondrous sciences. And, in accordance with the mystery that every possessor of beauty and perfection wants both to see and display his beauty and perfection, of course, that skilful king, too, wished to open an exhibition and to set up displays within it in order to reveal to the people’s gazes the majesty of his sovereignty, and to manifest both the glitter of his wealth and the wonders of his art and the marvels of his knowledge. He wished to do this so that he might observe his own transcendent beauty and perfection in two respects. The first was so that he himself might see with his own eyes, which were cognizant of reality, while the other was so that he might look through the gaze of others.
“As a consequence of this wisdom, he began to build a huge, splendid, extensive palace. It was magnificently divided into apartments and mansions. He adorned it with every sort of bejeweled treasure from his coffers, and decorated it with the finest and most gorgeous arts of his own handiwork. He ordered it with the greatest refinements of his knowledge and science, and decked it out and completed it with the miraculous works of his learning. Next, he spread tables with varieties of bounties and the most delicious of foods worthy for each group and prepared a general banquet. Then, in order to display his perfections to his subjects, he invited them to the banquet and to behold the perfections. Then he appointed one of them as the highest ranking general, invited him up from the lower levels and mansions to tour sphere after sphere in the levels rising one after the other. And, showing him the successive machinery and workshops of his wonderful art and the storehouses for the produce coming from below, he brought him to his own particular sphere and private apartment. There, he honored him through showing him the blessed person that was the source of all those perfections and taking him into his presence. He informed him of the true nature of the palace and of his own perfections. He appointed him as guide to the other spectators and sent him back to describe to the people the palace’s Maker by means of its contents, inscriptions, and wonders, so that he should inform those who entered the palace of the allusive meanings of the inscriptions within it, what the works of art signified, and what the harmonious and well-proportioned inscriptions and works of art in its interior were, and how they pointed to the perfections and skills of the palace’s owner. And so that he should teach them the correct behaviour and formalities in seeing the exhibition and describe the protocol and ceremonies which were in accordance with the pleasure and desires of the learned and skilful king, who did not appear.
“And in exactly the same way, and God’s is the highest similitude, the All-Glorious Maker, Who is the Monarch of Pre-Eternity and Post-Eternity, desired to behold and display His infinite perfections and boundless beauty.
“So He made this world in such a fashion that each being utters His perfections with numerous tongues and points to His beauty with many signs. The universe shows through all its beings how many hidden immaterial treasures there are in each of His Most Beautiful Names and how many veiled subtleties in each of His sacred titles. And it shows this in such a way that, since the time of Adam, all sciences together with all of their laws have studied this Book of the Universe. But of that book only a tiny proportion of the meanings and signs which state and point to the Divine Names and perfections have been read. Thus, the wisdom of the All-Glorious One of Beauty, the All-Beauteous One of Glory, the Maker Possessing Perfection, Who opens the palace of the world as though it was an exhibition in order to see and display His own transcendent beauty and perfections, requires that He should inform someone of the meaning of the palace’s signs so that they do not remain vain and without benefit for conscious beings on the earth. His wisdom requires that He should cause one of them to travel in the higher worlds, which are the sources of the wonders in the palace and are the treasuries of their results; that He should elevate him above all others, honor him with His close presence and cause him to tour the worlds of the hereafter, and entrust him with numerous duties, such as teacher to all His servants, herald of the sovereignty of His Dominicality, announcer of those things pleasing to Himself, and expounder of the signs of creation in the palace of the world; that He should mark out his pre-eminence by conferring on him the decorations of miracles, and should make known through a decree like the Qur'an that that person is the truthful personal interpreter of the All-Glorious One.
“And so, by way of example, we have demonstrated through the telescope of this comparison one or two of the many instances of wisdom in the Ascension. Others may be thought of in the same way.
Second Comparison:
“If a knowledgeable and skilful person was to compose and write a miraculous book, and on each page of the book were as many truths as would fill a hundred books, and in each of its lines as many subtle meanings as would fill a hundred pages, and in each of its words as many truths as would fill a hundred lines, and in each of its letters as many meanings as would fill a hundred words, and if each of the meanings and truths of the book were to look to and point to the transcendent perfections of its miracle-displaying writer, he most certainly would not leave such an inexhaustible treasury closed and thus worthless. He would surely teach it to some others so that such a valuable book would not remain meaningless and vain; and so that his own hidden perfections become apparent and find their perfection, and his transcendent beauty be seen; and so that he too should be pleased, and that he should make himself loved. Moreover, he would cause someone to go through that wonderful book from the first page to the last and teach him all its meanings and truths so that the person would then teach them to others.
“And in exactly the same way, in order to display His perfections, His beauty, and the truths of His Names, the Pre-Eternal Inscriber has written the universe in such a way that all beings set forth and state His infinite perfections, Names, and attributes together with their innumerable facets and aspects. Of course, if a book’s meaning remains unknown, its value is reduced to nothing. But a book such as the universe each word of which contains thousands of meanings cannot lose its value or be made to do so. Since this so, the book’s Writer will certainly make it known and explain a part of it to each group according to their capacity. And He will instruct in all the contents of the book the individual who has the broadest and most comprehensive view, the most universal consciousness, and the greatest ability. Wisdom requires that He should take the individual on a most elevated journey in order to teach him all the contents of such a book and its universal truths. That is, He should cause him to travel from the furthest extreme of the levels of multiplicity, which is the first page, to the sphere of Divine Oneness, which is the final page. Thus, through this comparison, to a degree you can look at the exalted instances of wisdom in the Ascension.”
Our Beloved Prophet’s (PBUH) Explanation of the Isra and Miraj:
The distinguished Sahaba recounted this miracle, which expanded beyond the bounds of time and space: One night when our Holy Prophet (PBUH) was sleeping at the Hatim section of the Kaaba, Hazrat Jibril came and slit his chest. After washing our Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) chest with zamzam water, Hazrat Jibril filled his chest with wisdom and restored it to its previous state. Afterwards he brought a white mount, Buraq, had our Holy Prophet (PBUH) climb upon it, and escorted the Master of the Universe (PBUH) on the journey. Buraq’s leaps went beyond what the eye could see. Along with Hazrat Jibriil by his side, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) went to the Bayt-al-Maqdis. He saw all the prophets gathered there. He led them in prayer as they all prayed in congregation.
By leading them in prayer, it showed that our Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the inheritor of the origin of their Sharia (divine law.)
Three Cups That Were Offered
Three cups, one full of milk, the second full of sherbet, and the third full of water, were presented to our Holy Prophet (PBUH.) During this offering, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) heard a voice saying, “If he chooses the cup filled with water, then both he and his ummah will be free of any needs and will be content. If he takes the cup filled with sherbet, then he and his nation will fall into deprivation. If chooses the cup filled with milk then he and his nation will be given guidance.”
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) took the cup containing milk and drank from it. Upon this Hazrat Jibril said, “O Muhammad, you have chosen the true and natural way. You have been given guidance, and so has your nation.”
