Forgot to update yesterday, but first day of nano writing went well! I'm feeling out my limits - I stopped around 1,500 words, but I also stop writing when things feel right to me.

I worked on rewriting the first chapter of QBOB, which is basically like the different reactions the questers had to receiving their acceptance letters. I only wrote 2/7 scenes for this chapter so far, so I'm going to work on more of those tonight.

My base goal is to always just write, but that being said I'd love to get halfway through major edits on QBOB and then halfway through my longfic I've been working on. 😂

Whoa, a nanowrimo update after not writing for like, 12 days? Craaazy XD

That being said, I was possessed this morning to write the second chapter of QBOB, so I did! It ended up being 1,761 words long, which is comparably shorter to the new first chapter, which ended up being 6,000 words long. Will this bother me in the future? Who can say? That's for future me when I do third draft edits.

If you're American, I hope you've had a good and restful holiday. I spent my first two days recovering from work by watching YouTube and doing art. I hope to do some more writing the rest of this weekend, but we'll see. Luckily I have one more day before I have to go back to work, and hopefully I'll start getting the hang of things to the point where I'll be able to write on the weekdays again.

I'm working on editing my first draft, The Quest for the Book of Balance (QBOB)! I'm not super going for 50k, but I don't think it'll be super hard for me to reach, since a lot of my edits are actually rewriting. I think ideally I'd love to have it all edited at the end of the month, but that's a soft ideal goal- I'll be happy if i just get a decent chunk done.

After literally 2 years of me saying that I was close to finishing the first draft of QBOB, I HAVE FINISHED MY FIRST DRAFT OF QBOB AFTER WORKING ON IT FOR SEVEN YEARS!!

Over the next two weeks I'm jotting down the ideas I have for edits of the second draft, and I'll also be reading through and writing notes about major developmental stuff I want to work on. And then hopefully by the time November 1st rolls around, I'll be prepared to jump into completely rewriting editing QBOB!

I’m continuing my current WIP, The Quest for the Book of Balance! I “won” Nanowrimo in November by getting it up to 50,000 words, but it’s not finished yet.

Oh yeah btw I declared QBOB as my Nano project again. I'm going to force myself to finish drafting this month, and then I'm going to use Nano to track my editing progress. So yeah super cool! And hopefully I'll have new written snippets and stuff to share with you guys :D

Besides, he thought to himself as he started to pack up his camp. One school semester won’t hurt.

My Preptober Checklist

Finished my read-through of QBOB today! I'm really excited to get into editing in November, but I still have a little prep to do to make editing as smooth sailing as possible. Since a lot of my list has to do with fleshing out worldbuilding, I figured I would share some of my list to let you guys know what's coming in the QBOB edits!

Make Map of the World of QBOB

Write backstory scenes for key events that are referenced in the plot

Research and write notes on sword-fighting

Define quester roles and create course load based on each quester roles (yay fantasy lesson planning!)

Start writing "spellbook" of spells used in the book as well as for future reference

Determine overall timeline of book

This is just some of the things I have on my list, but this also covers the most major things I have to accomplish in the first round of QBOB edits. I'm so excited!
