December 6 Holiday Prompt fic: Quicktaser

Darcy was doing a little window shopping, admiring the festive displays when she was unceremoniously tackled to the ground, landing in an awkward heap on the snowy sidewalk. She spluttered as she sat up.

“Hey! What was THAT?” she angrily barked, checking for her purse and taser. “Watch where you’re going!”

“Are you okay ma’am?” an older man asked. “That giant wreath fell down and barely missed you. Some really fast kid zoomed up, knocked you out of the way, then disappeared.”

“I’m fine, just embarrassed.” Darcy said as she clambered to her feet, jaw dropping at the sight of the eight foot wreath that had nearly taken her out.

“Wow! You weren’t kidding!” she muttered. “That was close.”

She wondered why her mysterious savior hadn’t bothered to check on her before he vanished, but decided it wasn’t worth stewing over. Some people liked to be anonymous and science was beckoning her.

“Are you excited for your blind date tonight?” Jane asked slyly as they pored over their data.

“Ugh. Don’t remind me,” Darcy groaned. “I should never have taken that stupid bet and now I have to be Nat and Yelena’s latest victim.”

“On the bright side, you know he’s been very thoroughly vetted and probably threatened with dismemberment should he misbehave.”

“True,” Darcy admitted. “Those two are SCARY. I’m lucky they like me.”

“Who wouldn’t like you?” Jane responded.

“Well…..you don’t like me when I have to use tough love to get you to eat and sleep when you’re on a science bender.”

“Maybe not, but I do know you have my best interests at heart, so the annoyance is only temporary,” Jane replied. “Also, you should wear the royal blue dress tonight. It makes your eyes pop.”

Jane forced Darcy out of the lab at five so she could go get dressed and though Darcy grumbled a good amount during the process, she smiled with satisfaction at the result.

She made it to the restaurant in good time, glad that Nat had picked a place she frequented and was known to the employees.

“Welcome, Darcy,” Emily the hostess greeted her. “Your table is waiting. Let me just say, he’s quite the gentlemen. The servers are vying for who gets to wait on you two.”

Darcy chuckled. She was used to the super suave types, but she’d learned to withhold judgment.

Emily led her to a booth and a very attractive man rose to greet her.

“Dr. Lewis?”

Wow, that was a beautiful smile.

“Yes, I am. Nice to meet you…..”

“Pietro. Pietro Maximoff. It is an honor to meet you, Darcy. You helped my sister last year and she speaks highly of you.”

Darcy was speechless for a moment as her brain whirled. When he started to look worried, she sat down and tried to gather her wits.

“Sorry about that. I should be used to the whole “not actually dead” surprise after all this time of hanging around superhumans and spies, but wow! Wanda kept that close to the vest.”

“She did,” Pietro confirmed. “I came out of hiding just before the snap.”

“Oh, man.” Darcy winced sympathetically. “Ouch.”

They went silent for a moment and then suddenly a few pieces fell into place.

“Wait a minute…….you’re Quicksilver, so you were probably the speedy dude who knocked me over this morning before The Giant Wreath could concuss me..

It was Pietro’s turn to gape before a sheepish grin appeared on his handsome face.

“I thought I recognized you. Such a stunning woman like you is impossible to forget.”

His accent did things to her, Darcy admitted.

“I definitely would have remembered you, but you’re too damn fast. Thank you, by the way. I didn’t survive Dark Elves, Evil Robots, and the Hex to get taken out by a wreath. Nice suit, by the way.”

“Thank you,” Pietro replied warmly. “You look exquisite in blue. Very, very lovely.”

Darcy felt herself blushing at the way he looked at her. He was a smooth one, alright. She would have to be very, very, careful.

“This very much makes up for getting knocked on my ass this morning,” she declared, as he walked her to her car afterwards. The conversation had been fun and lively, but she’d also been able to see a glimpse of Pietro’s genuine passion for justice and human rights. There was much more than met the eye with him, though what DID meet the eye was exceedingly fine.

He grinned at her.

“Good, because I would very much like a second date.

I decided that 2019 was the year of me doing Bingo Challenges. Well to do that I would appreciate a little help from Darcyland. Don't let the fact that I only list four pairings for her stop you there's an other option to put in your Darcy pairing of choice. Please note I am not the greatest with writing threesomes and moresomes so it may create a bit of an extra delay in getting out a fic. Ratings will likely range from General Audience to Mature. Minimum word count will be 100 words. I want to set a max but I'm not sure what would be fair. I'm aiming to post one fill every two weeks beginning February 1st, 2019. So get those prompts suggestions in. If I have multiples of a specific set of variables I will pick one at random to include as part of the bingo, but I will still write the other as extras later. Just saw over on @fuckyeahdarcylewis a fic called "Queen of Sokovia" (a darcy/zemo fic). The title immediately made me think of a QuickTaser fic idea, basically a The Prince & Me AU with Pietro as the trouble making playboy son of the King and Queen of Sokovia, a small European country no ones ever heard of.

After one too many clashes with the local paparazzi, and one too many lectures from his family, including his much more serious twin sister, about his responsibilities as Crown Prince he cons them in to letting him enrol in an American university where he says he'll study political science and do some growing up away from the all the attention he gets at home. In reality he just wants to enjoy frat parties and spring break with all the beautiful college girls he sees on social media.

Through some misinformation or perhaps some sneakiness on Wanda's part Pietro winds up enrolled at Culver University, who have done away with frat row etc and has a strong feminist culture.

Cue meet ugly with Darcy, a poli sci study buddy. Slowish burn enemies to friends to lovers as Pietro does a lot of growing up after watching Darcy get into a debate with a classmate about Sokovia's tense/complicated political situation, something he's been wilfully ignorant about.

And just as he and Darcy get together/fall in love paparazzi flood the campus and catch them in an intimate moment and start referring to him as the new King of Sokovia, which is a really shitty way to learn his parents have been killed by rebels/political rivals (or something a touch less dramatic).

Pietro has to return home, mourns with his sister, and prepares for his parents funeral / his coronation.

Cut back to Darcy moping around campus. She and Pietro haven't technically broken up but they haven't exactly talked since he left either. She goes to class one day to find everyone in a tizzy over what happened in Sokovia overnight. Fearing the worst she looks it up to find a video making the rounds of Pietro abdicating the throne to his sister (in dramatic fashion).

Cue Pietro's return/their reunion.

And they lived happily ever after, perhaps flashing forward to a royal wedding so that Darcy can have her princess makeover moment.

Darcy rolled her eyes and groaned. Why had she been so stupid to make a bet against Sharon Carter, of all people? The consequences of losing had been forced to attend her halloween party/hayride with a blind date of Sharon’s choosing. Natasha had refused to help, saying Darcy should have known better.

Traitors! she thought furiously, trying to get any hint of Spider-Man’s identity. He was wearing the mask so his face was concealed, but she could see He was tall and lean, but in a filled out grown man way, not a teenager at least. Sharon wouldn’t do that to her.

Spider Man must have recognized her elf costume, because he abruptly left his conversation with Steve and Clint (Superman and Robin Hood, respectively) to approach her.

“Darcy Lewis?” he asked. She didn’t recognize the voice, but it had an accent she thought she’d heard before…..

“Yes, I am. Nice costume, Spidey. May I ask who you are?”

He ripped off the mask, revealing silvery blonde hair and a very attractive, if slightly arrogant smirk.

“Pietro Maximoff, at your service.” He answered, giving a dramatic bow. “I must say, you make a magnificent elf.”

“Thank you,” she answered, slightly puzzled. “I honestly thought you were dead. I’ve heard stories……”

Pietro nodded.

“Yes, well…….it didn’t stick. Unfortunately for Wanda, I am still around to annoy her.”

He shot a fond look at his twin, who was busy dispensing drinks and joking with Bucky.

Darcy chuckled.

“I mean, what are siblings for, anyway?” she agreed, deciding to go with the flow. She’d heard rumors that he was a bit of a flirt, but, hey, might as well have a little fun, right?

“It’s really too bad she didn’t tell me how cute you were,” she went on, adding a touch of flirting as. “I might not have dreaded this so much.”

Pietro grinned at her.

“She did tell me you were very pretty, which is a gross underestimate, but she also told me if I misbehaved, I could expect to experience great pain in the lower regions.”

“Very true,” Darcy admitted gleefully, glad to hear her reputation preceded her. “I keep my trusty taser with me at all times. I really hope I won’t have to use it.”

“So do I,”Pietro agreed, favoring her with a heart-stoppingly beautiful smile. “So do I.”

Sharon and Natasha observed their interaction with decided satisfaction.

“She’s flirting right back. This is going better than I’d expected,” Sharon observed.

“Yes, our plan is off to a great start,” Natasha agreed, sharing a conspiratorial look with Sharon. “If we’d tried a couple years ago, he would probably be on the ground right now.”

“Timing is everything,” Sharon sighed, shooting a wistful look at a certain tall Avenger.

When Darcy gets home from work, with four reusable bags of groceries on her arms and pinched feet, she isn’t expecting to hear an ear piercing scream from the living room. The groceries are abandoned in her mad grab for the gun they keep in the tale by the front door. She toes off her heels and creeps on quiet feet towards the living room, breathing deeply in relief when another scream pierces the ear - one of laughter. Clicking the safety back on, Darcy drops the gun back in its drawer and takes the groceries to the kitchen before making her way towards the living room. Darcy steps into the living room and pauses at the sight before her. Mia is in her play pen, cackling wildly as she watches the chaos before her. Cassie is standing on the armchair with one foot propped up on the arm, grinning at Pietro, who has Leo on his back. The man has one foot on the couch, the other on another armchair and his head jerks up when she clears her throat.

“The floor is lava!” He warns, fake panic in his voice as his eyes widen dramatically. Darcy’s eyes widen and she yelps as she leaps and lands on one of the pillows on the floor. “Save yourselves, forget about me!” she wailed, jumping to another pillow and eyeing the loveseat. “Think I can make it?” she asks him across the living room, watching Cassie leap to the armchair’s footrest cautiously. “With your athletic abilities? Not a chance,” he teases back as Leo directs him further onto the couch. “Oh really? We’ll see about that,” she scoffs, tossing her hair over her shoulder as she eyes the distance between her cushion and the loveseat again. Without second-guessing herself too much, the brunette sprang across the space, landing in an ungraceful heap on the squishy cushions.

“Hah!” she crows victoriously as she sits up on her knees, mindful of her skirt as she does. He beams at her as Cassie laughs wildly, Leo cheering her on from his place on Pietro’s back. “Every man for himself, traitor,” he tells the little boy, carefully flipping the boy over his shoulder to stand on couch next to him. “Oh really?” Leo asks, and Darcy can see the telltale glint of mischief in his face the instant before he gives Pietro a shove and the man topples backwards, barely saving himself from rolling off the couch.

“Oh you’re gonna pay for that!” Leo cackles and leaps to the pillows on the floor, crossing the living room to his sister with the grace only a five year old on a mission could achieve. “Your just mad Mom is better at this than you,” he teases as he leaps for the armchair and Cassie pulls him in assistance. “Leo’s right,” she agrees, sassily cocking her head at Pietro.

“Traitors! All of you, traitors!” he squawkes back in disbelief as Darcy, in all her agile glory, jumps to the couch. “Don’t be mad,” she croons with faux compassion, batting her eyes at man in front of her. Neither pretended to have seen the way her face went soft when Leo called her mom, and neither pretended to notice how Cassie didn’t react in the slightest.
