Hollow Knight OC tournament round 1

Hopper & Hank (he/him) from @raddest-laddest

Hopper: born to be a banjo man, forced to be a bounty hunter. He and his ragtag team used to go around the wild wastes looking for their next paycheck

Hank: used to be a bandit until he was ditched by his gang… he won’t forgive or forget.

One night Hopper and his crew happened upon a recently abandoned Hank, and recognizing him almost instantly, they decided to take him prisoner. Sand storm happened, Hopper (now separated from the rest of his crew) is left alone with Hank, and they end up having to work together to meet their changing goals :]

Just a regular guy who likes to hang out in the City :)

...is what he wants you to think. Really, he's a clever serial killer who enjoys stalking his prey and killing them. It's good fun! There's quite the thrill in a successful kill. And the fear of getting caught adds some extra spice to his days. He does spend time doing regular activities too, such as visiting food stands, going out with bugs, sharpening his blade prosthetic, etc. He can be quite charming when he wants to be, a useful benefit of charisma, but he generally only turns that on for manipulation purposes.

When he's not being an awful person in the City, he's being a slightly more tolerably awful person in the Crystal Mines where he works as a supervisor for exploratory mining excursions to find crystal veins with unique properties. Over the past few years, his crew has experienced some injury and a few accidental deaths which is, of course, regrettable but entirely within reason for the dangers of the job.

Charon gets his comeuppance when a group of miners have had enough and kill him. They throw his corpse into a crystal chasm. Unfortunately, the crystals down there were special, and they bonded to his body as he bleed out, causing him to come back as a crystallized corpse with autonomy and no regard for self-preservation. Such is life!

@cosmic-chat Gonna be honest, I saw the art around and that's it, lmao. Never talked to them, never interacted, never ANYTHING! I know about them because tumblr used to recommend their blog a lot. But honestly?? Whoever draws fat, fluffy Kuki has my heart. Like, c'mon, she can be kawaii-chan princess hime-sama UWU AND fluffy at the same time! So that's a Y E A H!!! Also, the style is really nice to look at, like how they do lines! Colors are nice as well!! They seem to be off tumblr, hope they're ok!

@choco-limmy-100 The Seal artist!!! Love how they draw everyone as a seal, and they seem to be really into them!!! I demand more kids as seal with FUR tho!! Young seals have furrrrr!!! I love how their art style is similar to the KND one, even when everyone is seal-fied, which means they have a good grasp of mimicry and catching enough details to keep things similar! That's good!

Her OCs actually scream 2000s a lot, that's the kind of kids you'd see in TV! Probably more late 1990s/early 2000s! I love how she uses a lot of colors and how everyone looks energetic and happy!

I like the idea that Hank quite literally has a battle theme (absolutely intimidating for any bug who dare crosses his path) and it's just Hop absolutely going to town on the banjo behind a rock somewhere conveniently out of view.

Do you have any formal published work for your OC's? Like is there a comic somewhere or some fics? I'd really love to learn more about the narrative, the characters are gorgeous 🎀

but I've tried! i've honest to god written all the issues of a would-be transient comic and thumbnailed/storyboarded several of them out, but when i went to actually make them proper, it was too much to do on top of my job/other interests. plus I just...didnt like them. i couldnt settle on a consistent style and the rendering type i chose both looked overwhelming and took too much time.

for an example of what i meant, heres two example pages from my last attempt.

The thing is if i never actually make the comic, then in my head it can be the coolest, raddest, thing ever, but once pen meets paper the hypothetical has to clash with the reality that its not going to be as funny or polished as i dreamt it'd be. but ive been building up more illustrative art confidence and solved some of the problems i had on that above attempt (not understanding the style i want, rendering woes) so ??? ?????? who knows.

of all the OCverses, transient is the most actionable since 1) its fully written. like im literally looking at the full script right now. i just need to do it. and 2) its inherently episodic so i could publish issue-by-issue without having to commit to some ~50 cohesive, continuous chapters that would be needed for something like stitch in the ditch.

but thank you!!!! i would like to make it someday but its a matter of getting the mind and body to be fully willing lol.

She uses her soul magic to create fake illusions, which she uses to put on "magic shows", while traveling through all sorts of lands. Through the story telling of her illusions, she tries keeping the history of the Radiance alive (she was a dear follower of her)

She's very egocentric and loves attention, but not a bad person. Shes very loyal and can be very sweet if you complement her.
