Raiden equated you to another strain of Johnny Cage. Without even trying you seemed to have charmed him into liking you, and now you’re seeing each other… Privately, of course.

That being said: The beautiful concept of privacy is near sacred to Raiden. There’s a hc with popstar!reader where it’s said that privacy is important to him, and that’s true. In most cases when it comes to mentioning what you do or did he’s overtly casual about it, uber humble if he doesn’t mention it at all. If you were to start to put yourself back out there, this feat would only strengthen.

As a fighter, Raiden is constantly doting on you. He doesn’t let up even when you prove to him you can defend yourself. You try to be just as much caring, but sometimes he can make you feel like it’s not enough. He makes sure to remind you that whatever you do, he’s grateful.

Raiden loves it when you sing to him, and he’s not shy about that at all. Serenade him. Please. He already feels like a hopeless romantic around you. Your status, to him, is the last thing on his mind [when it’s just you and him]. He falls further in love with you if you sing to or play an instrument for him.

Kung Lao watched in the distance a sight he would never let Raiden live down for the rest of his life.

Raiden looks so taken by you, but your face is scrunched in focus with a hint of frustration of messing up a few notes. He listens with a glimmer in his eyes and a quirk in his lips indiscriminately.

“Yeah, no. He’s definitely not going for lunch with us. Just look at ‘im…” Johnny starts, watching beside the other male with his hands on his hips. He goes quiet, and he looks around the perimeter.

“…Man…”

Suddenly, he raises his voice.

“Hey—hey Romeo!”

Johnny goes tumbling from a push just as he said it, and Kung Lao curses to himself as he attempts to catch the actor—and his square shades—before the floor hit him. Kung Lao up and hauls him far away, so very far away. The shove of all shoves to save Raiden’s life.

Kung Lao actually tried to set you up with Johnny Cage, but at the slightest hint of him starting to feeling funny/differently about it he stopped. He thought you two would hit it off because of your similar pasts, plus it’s some fun when the group is lying low. He started to show out for you in order to undo what he’s done (if it were even working), and when he got you to confess to him he totally wasn’t running laps around the academy.

Kung Lao starts to spar and/or train with you more than anyone else. Sure, he and Raiden still spar, but you are quickly becoming his ultimate partner. He tries to get you into some sort of weaponry if you’re not already. When it comes to physically fighting an enemy, he loves to beat them with you.

Even as a washed up star Kung Lao still would have a sense of pride from being with you. Not because you’re some washed up star but because he’s scored such an amazing, beautiful, good and talented person like you. He genuinely cherishes you. But if anyone asks, he’ll tell them what you do first, before your name. If you’re more orientated on fixing your career, he gives you advice (even if he’s not qualified).

“So,” Raiden nudged Kung Lao rather firmly. Either that, or Kung Lao was too deep in his head that he weren’t properly planted. “You and [Reader], huh?”

It took Kung Lao a moment.

“Yeah… Me and [Reader],” Kung Lao confirmed with a swell of his chest, the corner of his lip curling upwards. “And what about it, thunderboy? Jealous?”

“Oh, no. I’m alright,” Raiden shook his head somewhat, holding a hand up. “Just… Curious. They kind of appeared out of nowhere.”

“T��you.”

“To me? What do you mean to me?”

“Seriously, you never heard of [Reader]?” Kung Lao seemed offended, but couldn’t really hold the feeling. “They were like, the hottest thing… Years ago… But that doesn’t matter. They’re still cute, I’m their man. In fact, I’m the man.”

Johnny Cage immediately looked you up. Nevermind that he recognized you from afar, having already known a thing or two from when you were trending. If you have anything—a wiki, a loyal fanpage, an article, whatever—he’s going to find you. You also knew a thing or two about him. You two clicked a bit more easier than his peers. And, admittedly, his flirting worked.

Privacy is not Johnny Cage’s forte, so don’t think for a second that you’ll get any, if you don’t ask. You’ll get popular again for a hot minute when (not if) your relationship goes public, however if you really want privacy he’ll try to omit some details of your intimacy from the public. But it won’t stop him from wanting to post you two. He wants to show you off, and if it makes a bit of extra cash, why not?

You’ll have to make one of your next projects about Johnny Cage. He’ll beg and plead on his knees if you don’t fold right away, even bothering you on Liu Kang’s missions. But even if you end up not doing so, he’ll commission or make a film/something for the both of you; probably includes some select of the truckloads of photos and videos he’s taken of you two, during some of your more intimate moments.

Other than doing realm business together, Johnny Cage makes a hobby out of trying to restart both of your careers. A first-time director like him could use someone in the industry like you. If you can’t act, he’ll offer to help you and/or pay for classes. If you don’t want to act, he’ll find you a manager (as if he wasn’t acting like one already). Just remember: he’s been your first fan regardless of who actually was. You’re attached at the hip with him.

Absolutely exhausted, is what you felt. You hadn’t had a chance to rest like this ever since Liu Kang had his dealings in Outworld.

You lie on top of Johnny, your arms curled around his torso underneath his arms and your face buried into the warm alley of his neck. Johnny could smell your shampoo, and made sure you knew that. He always tells you how much he loves it; how much he loves you.

You’ve been hearing yourself for at least an hour.

Johnny kept his eyes squinted from amusement trained on his phone, watching back old performances of yours with a small smile on his face. He could watch you for many more hours than just one, but he knows how exhausting it must be to constantly have to hear yourself.

“Pitch perfect, baby. That’s why I love you,” Johnny praised as the video ended, his head turning to give you a long kiss on the curve beside your nape. “You think your fans could ever guess you bash some guys’ head in on the regular? Mine do.”

Kenshi instantly might not have wanted anything to do with you at first, I think. He didn’t necessarily avoid you, but he kept it simple and classy with you. Yeah, you’re cute and you may not have been all that famous anymore, but there had to be someone who checked for you every then and again. To him, being seen with you made you both targets. But when he realized that you could fight, something changed.

You were sort of out of his league and Kenshi knew that. It took Johnny, of all people, to help him out. Johnny knew bits and pieces of you, but when he saw that Kenshi was dead serious, he straightened up. He even looked you up for him so that they could research together, that way Kenshi could have something to talk about with you the next time you saw each other.

He doesn’t say it, but Kenshi loves the sound of your voice. Pre and post-incident, but moreso post-incident. He lets it guide him anywhere; to the bedroom, to sleep, anywhere, to do anything. You seem to notice his reliance on your voice even with sento and it flatters you incredibly. You make sure to use it as much as possible.

And god forbid you get a sore throat or lose your voice around Kenshi. He’s not letting you out of reach, and any doubts of his ability to cook [post-incident] are disproven that same day. He manually heals you back to health. Even when you’re sure you can still be a competent fighter, Kenshi insists that you rest. He’ll be back before you know it.

This man would even pout if you didn't give him the same amount of kisses as before. Yes...he counted. It didn't take long for him to return the favor too. Random times of the day he'll walk up behind you and just copy what you did with his own touch. Oh, and believe me when I say he'll be expecting it every time he gets home. Literally every. Time.

Sub-Zero

...didn't like it at first. He thought you were being overbearing or maybe just teasing him, but after a good while he slowly warmed up to it. Don't do it so often cause he might get sick of it again. But when you time it just right? He melts. It was a long day at the Lin Kuei for the esteemed Grandmaster, and that familiar crinkle around his eyes when he's scowling and silently asking you to make him feel better has him getting attacked with kisses in seconds, and he smiles to himself every time.

Raiden

...also loves it, but it takes some getting used to. Zero issues with affection, it's just that at first he didn't really see why you were kissing him so much. Eventually he just stopped questioning it and would hug you tighter. Don't think he doesn't return the favor too, maybe not as intensely but he has his own way of letting you know just how he feels. And if Kung Lao asks why there's faint marks of redness on his skin, he just blushes and changes the subject.

Kung Lao

... can't get enough. Speaking of the charming, cocky, dimpled man, he immediately got used to it. Knowing him he probably joked about coming home to that and you were like BET. It fuels him. Fuels his ego but most of all his love. He's like damn, my s/o loves me so much, who's getting treatment like this before leaving the house? Coming back from missions? Training? Johnny Cage

✦ headcanons w/ liu kang, kung lao, raiden, lin kuei brothers, johnny cage, kenshi takahashi, shang tsung, havik, & syzoth

a/n: My brain was thinking really hard on how they'd actually be in a haunted maze and this is the best I came up for the first half! Part 2 will include the mk women too!!!

Liu Kang ➤ He finds the attraction somewhat amusing. However he does not find it scary. Being a god has trained him to become wise and undeterred to such things, but he does enjoy your company and how you push him from behind so he could lead. It even boost his ego a little, feeling your hands cling to him with a small smile on his face.

Kung Lao ➤ He talked a big game, claiming that he'd protect you and that you can cling to him. However, deep down inside he is actually afraid. Will he show it or admit it? Probably not, but his hand does clench whenever a scare actor jumps out. When you guys reach the end, he puffs out his chest. "See babe? Wasn't scary at all."

Liar.

Raiden ➤ He was pushed to the front and admitted he was a bit nervous. He does get scared, but is extremely nice about it. Saying things like "Woah, you really got me there!" or "That costume is really. . .realistic." And he's okay with people clinging to him, he feels better knowing that you can be safe around him. Raiden is a sweet boy so he really enjoys the concept of Halloween, he finds it very fun and a great way to hang out with others.

Bi-Han ➤ He is. . . unamused. His face is grumpy throughout the whole thing and when people try to scare him, he just kind of stares with a raised brow. He charges through the maze without an ounce of fear, dragging you behind him because he wants to get this whole thing over with.

"Did you have fun?" You ask him.

"No."

Kuai Liang ➤ Like a father who finds it fun, but isn't really scared by it. He'd laugh in amusement every time someone jumps out and he has an arm protectively around you. He's heard of Halloween before, but never really experienced it in his younger days, so truthfully, he liked it when you dragged him along to the event. Of course, you did it only to use him as a shield, but Kuai Liang was okay with it.

"Are these truly supposed to scare people?" He'd ask, grinning at you.

Tomas Vrbada ➤ Took some convincing to get him to even go in. He tried his best to make excuses because yes, he was afraid, but more of Bi-Han's opinion. However, Kuai Liang told him it was okay and to have fun. So it resulted in the two of you both clinging to each other throughout the whole thing, screams leaving your throats every time something happened. Even though Tomas was scared shitless, he enjoyed the absolute thrill it gave him. He never got the chance to enjoy the simple pleasures of just being scared and having fun so he loved it in the end.

Johnny Cage ➤ "You go in first." He says.

"No, you go in first."

"You're being a pussy."

"Says you."

You and him ended up going in at the same time faking confidence and ended up clinging to each other in fear. You guys screamed the loudest screams you've ever scrumpt (Ik this is not a real word) and even ended up trying to push open a pull door. The scare actors were very entertained by you two to say the least.

Kenshi Takahashi ➤ He can't see, but was happy to be there as you helped him walk through the maze. He did get spooked by the random sound effects and louds screams they did so being blind didn't make him miss out on the maze entirely.

In the beginning though, he thought it was childish, saying "Really? You want me of all people to go in with you?" But he had fun nonetheless. He didn't outright say it though because he did not want to seem soft.

Shang Tsung ➤ He thought it was a waste of time, childish, and stupid. Did he go in though? Reluctantly, he did. He would get scared, but would be irritated by it. Huffing like the sassy man he is and rolling his eyes every time they managed to spook him.

"That was ridiculous, but the contraptions in there did give me some great inspiration."

. . .yeah, please don't ever show him the "Saw" films.

Havik ➤ An absolute menace. He laughs every time they try and scare him and sometimes he screams back just to see if he can spook them too. Most of the time he does because he not only screams, but tears off his limbs to terrify them even more.

"Earthrealmers are scared so easily." He chuckles in the most villain way possible.

Loves it because all he can hear are the screams of people and the decorations were pure chaos. Although he is a little upset that they aren't real. Why can't you just use real human corpses and skeletons? They're easy to get. . . to him at least.

Syzoth ➤ He was always very aware of his surroundings so don't blame him if he's a bit defensive the entire time. You had to reassure him that they wouldn't actually attack him and even if did understand, he'd still remained cautious. Even so, the maze did manage to spook him several times. Eventually, he eased into the concept of the holiday and began to enjoy himself. It was also a perfect place for him to be in his natural form, everyone complimenting him on his "costume". It made the zaterran happy as he gazed at the decorations in curiosity and awe.

When he sees you crying, he is instantly concerned.

And then, when you run up and hug him, he's even more concerned as he hugs back, gently placing his hand on your head and rubbing your back comfortingly.

"My love? What is the matter, dear?

He gently moves his hand from the back of your head to cup your cheek when you look at him with them big ol wet eyes.

"I just love you so muuuuccch!"

He looks taken aback for a moment, surprised by that response.

Then he chuckles warmly and looks at you with all the love and adoration in the world

"My beloved, you and your love mean the world to me. Your brilliant radiance is more than enough to light up even the darkest corners of my mind. I cannot dream of spending my days without you, but if such a day were to ever occur, I would carry your memory with me at all times with all the warmth and love in my soul."

This makes you cry even more

"Aaaaaa I love you so much...."

He gently presses his forehead to yours.

"I love you too, my dearest."

And then he kisses you softly.

Afterward, he sits down with you, holding you gently.

Furina

When you come up to her crying, she's instantly panicking.

Oh no did she do something wrong? Did she say something that upset you??? Has she been neglecting you??? Did she forget something important? Oh no oh no oh no-

And then you hug her and she's like. Okay. Did someone else do something to upset you? She's not sure what she can do now that she's no long on the archon throne, but she'll try whatever she has to! Or maybe something else happened, maybe something that has nothing to do with other people, maybe some horrible thing happened to you like what happened to her.

"S-S/O? Are you okay?? What happened, what's wrong?"

Then you look at her with those big ol wet eyes and she turns to mush inside.

"I just love you muuuuuccccchhh..."

For several moments she just stares at you, not knowing how to respond.

And then she also starts getting emotional

"Oh."

She hugs you back really tightly, burying her face against you.

"I... I love you tooooo...."

And now you're both crying and telling each other how much you love each other.

Neuvillette

The moment he sees you crying, the beginning of rain can be heard outside.

He absolutely hates seeing you upset in any way and he immediately wants to just hold you in his arms and take all your stress and pain.

He immediately walks over and sits next to you.

"S/O? Are you alright? What's happened?"

He is a little surprised when you hug him, but not entirely, and he hugs back, gently rubbing your back.

"It's alright, dear, take your time."

"I just- I just- I love you so muuuuuuuucccchhhh..."

Well he certainly was not expecting that.

It starts raining outside even heavier.

"Ah... Is that... Not a good thing...? I am uncertain as to why this would make you sad..."

You uh... You'll have to explain to him that crying doesn't necessarily only happen when you're sad, but just when you're overwhelmed by An Emotion. Any emotion. Even positive ones.

He won't really understand all that well but he's trying 🥺 He'll definitely be thinking about it for the rest of the week and might even do some research about it if he manages to find the time.

In the moment, though, he just holds you and tells you how much he loves you as well. He is a little confused when this makes you cry more, but he doesn't say anything.

Kaveh

Like Furina, he also panics instantly the moment he sees you crying.

He's much more frantic and open about it though.

"Oh no, darling, sweetheart, are you okay?! What's wrong?! Did I do something wrong, what happened?!"

Then you hug him and he's surprised.

"S/O...?"

"I just- I love you so muuuuccchh!"

Kaveh.exe has stopped working

"Wha- You- I-"

My poor boy instantly melts into a puddle, becoming a complete emotional wreck.

This man is so fragile he just shatters like glass and the dam breaks and out come the tears, and now he's crying harder than you.

He somewhat incoherently babbles about how much he loves you and hugs you so tightly, just completely falling apart.

... He may have also been drinking a bit before this.

Okay, not a bit. A lot.

And now, even though you were the one who was crying initially, you're gonna have to sit down with him and try to calm him down

Also one of the panickers. Except he's stupid about it.

He actually has absolutely no idea how to deal with someone who's sad. He doesn't get sad often himself and his gang aren't the type to get sad often either.

So the MOMENT you hug him crying, he is freaking the fuck out

"Oh, nononono, baby, don't cry, don't cry! Hey it's okay, it's alright, don't cry!"

When he can't get you to calm down right away, he's immediately thinking of other solutions.

"Hey, ya wanna go see Granny Oni? She always knows exactly what to do to cheer me up when I'm sad!"

You have to stop him from picking you up and running off with you to take you to Granny Oni.

"No- Itto. I'm not sad, it's just.... I love you so muuuuch..."

He blinks a couple times.

For once, the man is speechless.

But only for a couple moments.

You'll have to explain it like with Neuvillette, except Itto's dumb so it'll take a lot longer for him to pick it up.

You end up spending so long trying to explain it that you end up not crying anymore and just laughing at him

When she sees you crying she is surprisingly sweet about it.

She walks over and gently cups your cheeks, tilting your head to look up at her.

Her voice is so soft and gentle.

Raiden isn’t opposed to your personal choice of style. It compliments his youthful self/personality. But it wasn’t really what drew him towards you

For a few outings, you teach Raiden how to skate. He’s clumsy at first, earning a few scrapes and bruises, but you being there to help him makes them painless and it’s a lot less humiliating when you’re not judging or teasing him (at least not as often as Kung Lao).

Why you carry a baseball bat, Raiden found out. He’d catch you in the act. If it’s before the Madam Bo and Lin Kuei scene, he would be shocked, but if it’s after the fact, he would find it brutal but wouldn’t bother you about it. A baseball bat is a mouse in comparison to the amulet he has.

It’s what drew Kung Lao to you at first. Your style was just a bonus. When you fight with a bat, he can’t seem to care how you carry yourself as a punk. With his prowess as a fighter who mainly uses his fists and a bladed hat for support, he likes someone who enjoys using blunt force as well.

If you let Kung Lao, he’ll teach you how to fight with your fists as well. Just so you both can be matching, in a way. Sparring also helps show off, and if it impresses you at all he’d give you that one cheeky smile that shows off his dimple; he’s the most empowered when you praise him. It’s a shame he’s already mastered skating (if you ever taught him), he loved the constant praise you gave him.

On days where you’d both be rotting inside, Kung Lao likes those languid moments when you both are laid up together and listening to your music. His taste in music is nothing like yours really, but he doesn’t mind it. As long as he could enjoy these lazy moments. You’re his type, if not one of them.

Kenshi isn’t as moved as his peer, unfortunately. He sees (and has saw) people harnessing bats all the time. Your personal style, however, is newer to him. He overlooks it and doesn’t too much care as you both get along too well. Nothing would really be out of the ordinary or have changed because of your style, but he’d make subtle to small gestures to accommodate it.

Like Kung Lao, Kenshi enjoys the paced times between you two. Whether it be pre-incident or post-incident it doesn’t really matter. The only thing different is that regardless of weather, he would settle down with you if you wanted to. If you wanted to go out, at least one or both of you have to be carrying [a weapon].

The park is Kenshi’s favorite spot now that he’s met you. You get to skate, he gets to watch/feel you, it’s a win-win. He carries your bat for you. If you leave it at home on purpose, he takes his sword with him. If you have music playing out loud, he manages it while you skate up and down the rink. Kenshi has a lot of fun with you (because no stranger really tries anything with the both of you).
