Thanks to my reliably terrible timing, I didn't get into TBB hyperfixation/fandom until basically right as the show was ending. So I know I'm like 3.5 years late to this question, but how the heck did Crosshair survive 32 rotations on that Kaminoan platform?
At first I figured, maybe he stayed alive by collecting rainwater in his helmet and catching fish with the grappling attachment on his rifle, the same one he used to save Omega and AZI. Granted, I had no idea how he could cook the fish, but I guess if you're desperate enough you could eat them raw? (Not that that wouldn't open up a whole other host of potential problems.)
But then rewatching 1x15-16, I realized he doesn't even have his helmet with him--it got left behind when they all booked it out of the training room at the end of 1x15. And he doesn't have his rifle, either. He gives it to Wrecker in the previous scene, but then in this sequence it's just...missing entirely. There is a whole lot of nothing on that platform.

So maybe he used his boots to collect rainwater instead? That at least would keep him alive for a while. A cursory google search indicates a person can survive 3-4 weeks without food, if they have enough water. 32 days already puts him past the edge of that window. He must have been nothing but skin and bones when the Empire finally picked him up--to say nothing of the mental strain of spending a month completely alone, without shelter, on a planet where it rains almost constantly (the above scene is the only shot of Kamino I can recall where it's not pouring down hurricane levels of rain). I've watched enough episodes of Survivor to know that people's morale starts to deteriorate really quickly when they're out in the cold and rain without adequate shelter for even just a couple of days. (Granted, Crosshair being a soldier would have more mental fortitude and capacity to survive inhospitable conditions than your average reality show contestant, lol, but still. A solid month of rain pouring down on your head would wear anyone down, I imagine.)
Of course, it's possible, maybe even probable, that 32 Kaminoan rotations aren't equivalent to 32 Earth days. I don't recall Star Wars ever having addressed different planets having different rotational speeds, etc, but maybe 32 days on Kamino is more like a week on Earth, or something. Even that would still be an ordeal, but obviously easier to survive than a full month.
Anyway, I'm probably overthinking it, but I am curious if anyone involved with the show ever addressed this (I know many of them are/were active on social media). Yeah, this is a Disney cartoon with 23-minute episodes that have to stay (mostly) family-friendly, but I still wish they hadn't almost entirely glossed over how physically, mentally, and emotionally taxing that whole situation would have been.
Come to think of it, Glossing Over Really Traumatic Things could have been the name of this show, but I guess that's what fanfic is for.

Wet Gets Wetter, Dry Gets Drier in the Amazon Rainforest https://ift.tt/Q6NKGof Cintra and colleagues have found that changes in climate aren’t making the Amazon wetter or drier, but both, according to whether it’s the wet or dry season. Their study is based on 30 years of natural climate records locked in tree rings of Cedrela odorata and Macrolobium acaciifolium. The findings have relevance beyond weather patterns across South America. In a press release the authors state: “The Amazon rainforest plays a critical role in global climate regulation… Observed changes in the rainfall cycle could have far-reaching effects on global climate stability.” The research was based on studying oxygen isotope ratios in cores extracted from trees. The rings grow with oxygen from that year’s rainwater locked in the ring. From the tree’s point of view, the isotopes in the water don’t matter, but these isotopes reveal how the rain travelled there. Oxygen-16 and Oxygen-18 get picked up as water evaporates from the ocean to make clouds. Rain falls, gets processed through trees and rises again, to form new clouds to rain further inland. But each time water passes through the process, it’s the lighter Oxygen-16 that’s favoured. So if there are more rainfall events on the way inland, meaning wetter weather, the ratio of Oxygen-16 to Oxygen-18 increases. If there are fewer rainfall events, then the rain is richer in Oxygen-18. Changes in this ratio told Cintra and colleagues how climate had changed since 1980. Cedrela odorata grows in the wet season, while Macrolobium acaciifolium, in the floodplains, grows in the dry season. So their isotopes in their tree rings will relate to rainfall in different seasons. The authors write that, in the wet season, the ratio of Oxygen-18 fell by 0.90‰, almost one part in a thousand, indicating an increase in rainfall of 15%-22%. But in the dry season Oxygen-18 ratio increased by 1.14‰, meaning the dry season was 8%-13% drier. The botanists believe that a warming Atlantic is changing how and when rainfall arrives in the Amazon basin. This increasing variability will lead to increased flooding and droughts for for the Amazon and beyond, as far south as Buenos Aires. Preparations for the future appear urgent. The final Junimo bid Beep farewell, and departed with a flash of magic. Friends of Chicken, who had seen Beep gathering wood and moving from the farm house to the tunnel leading to Calico Desert multiple times within an hour, even with Robin hammering away at the siding. The first day the shortcut had been opened, Beep noticed a faint breeze against his ear where no breeze made sense. He ignored it as a particularly strong gust from the farm's side and moved on. However, on his way back, he felt it again around the same spot. He paused and looked around, seeing nothing in the shadows of the tunnel. It was barely two Beep's across, a Beep-and-a-half in some places, and there were no visible branching. Still, there was wind where there shouldn't be. After dropping off the bundle of forage and shedding the blanket and boots, Beep flew back to the tunnel. (Mostly to minimise his time outside in the cold.) Once back inside, he ruffled his feathers and thick winter coat, trotting back and forth until he narrowed down the smallest area where he could still feel the breeze. It still took him several more passes before he located the source; A small crevice within the tunnel, hidden within a shadow. The natural vegetation hid it even further, and without Beep being a species specialised to be sensitive to wind currents, he never would've found it. He nudged his head through the leaves, seeing the faintest gleam of light ahead. Mindful of the sides of the crevice, as well as anything below him, he found the path generous and level. Deep within the tunnel, untouched for who knows how long, was a cave. Three openings in the ceiling, the gaps woven over and shielded with roots from the trees above, coincided with the divots in the sand caused by rainwater dripping in. While the centre was soft sand covering packed dirt, the rim of the cave was solid and ungiving. The air was fresh thanks to the natural skylights, but this natural formation hadn't been touched outside of plants for decades. Maybe even centuries. This was perfect. The cave easily accessible on the farm wasn't safe. The bloodstain beneath the snow was proof of that. The farm house was easily entered or broken into, and the new nest (while lovely for the moment Beep saw it) was further indication the building wasn't private. This, however, was just what he needed. Secluded. Hidden. The entrance just barely Beep-sized even after squeezing through the knots of vines and roots. When Beep went back to the farmhouse, he paused long enough to investigate the new nest. It looked sturdy, though smelled unfamiliar and of many humans. The details on the side were familiar shapes, and clearly done with care. Beep would love to curl up in it, but he had things to do. Tonight would be a good sleep.

As climate change intensifies, extreme weather events, including heavy rainfall, are becoming more severe.
A raging flood pulled a family's home of more than 50 years into the Blue Earth River in southern Minnesota this week, as a community watched in horror.
The river’s water flow tripled in three days after 11 to 18 inches of rain fell in just over a week. The swollen river carved a new pathway around the Rapidan Dam, threatening to collapse the dam and the nearby store where the Bruska family had served pies and shakes for decades.
Similar intense rains have pummeled much of the north-central U.S. in June, causing devastating floods across the region, with major flooding underway on the Big and Little Sioux rivers, the Des Moines River, and the Minnesota River.
Such events are occurring with increasing frequency across the nation. Rain isn’t just falling; it’s breaking records, cascading at intense rates due to the warming climate.
While flooding has always occurred along rivers and streams, today’s warmer air allows the atmosphere to hold more water, with storms often supercharged by moisture from warming oceans. As communities experience more frequent flooding, the pressure to prepare for and adapt to these events is growing.
That pressure is evident in two recent developments: a groundbreaking climate action law in Vermont and a federally commissioned report finding that the government's calculations for maximum potential rainfall are no longer valid due to more intense rainfall driven by climate change.
On June 21 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the National Weather Service reported rain rates of 3-5 inches per hour. The next day, a deluge in South Florida brought rain rates of 4-5 inches, flooding areas of Miami-Dade, where higher sea levels are exacerbating the situation by making it harder for rainwater to drain.
"As demonstrated repeatedly, event after event, climate change is causing wetter and more extreme precipitation," stated Kevin Reed, an associate provost for climate and sustainability programming at Stony Brook University, who specializes in the effects of climate warming on rainfall.
On Friday, U.S. Geological Survey data indicated that over 200 stream gauges across the North Central U.S., including those along the Blue Earth River, were experiencing various stages of flooding, with water levels finally beginning to recede.
Vermont's "great flood" last July, which brought a deluge of 9 inches and caused an estimated $1 billion in damages, prompted state legislators in May to pass new legislation known as the "climate superfund act."

"After experiencing one of the most catastrophic climate disasters in its history," remarked Elena Mihaly, vice president of the Conservation Law Foundation Vermont, which advocated for the bill, "Vermonters felt acutely vulnerable during that frightening time."
The legislation aims to recover costs from climate disasters by seeking payments from large fossil fuel companies for their extraction and refining activities that have contributed to climate impacts in Vermont since 1995.
According to Mihaly, the state intends to conduct a cost analysis to assess present and future expenses incurred from greenhouse gas emissions produced during extraction and refinement. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden currently borne solely by taxpayers.
Governor Phil Scott, a Republican, permitted the climate action bill to become law on May 31 without signing it. The funds collected under this legislation will be designated for climate change adaptation projects.
'Historical Changes in Extreme Rainfall'
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recently published a study on rainfall patterns. Sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and mandated by Congress, the study aimed to update the nation's "probable maximum precipitation" estimates in response to climate change.
These estimates, used to determine the maximum possible depth of precipitation within a specific timeframe and location, are crucial for engineering critical infrastructure like dams and nuclear power plants. They help mitigate the risk of severe flooding and ensure that structures can withstand extreme rainfall events.

The Academies assembled a committee comprising some of the nation's foremost experts on extreme rainfall. These experts, including Reed, collaborated in workshops to discuss the findings.
The committee concluded that "climate change has already led to significant historical shifts in extreme rainfall patterns, with expectations for further substantial changes in the coming decades." Their report includes a comprehensive set of recommendations aimed at enhancing accuracy in precipitation estimates through improved modeling, refined formulas, and integration of additional scientific research.
Climate change is reshaping the calculation of maximum rainfall potential. By integrating advanced observations and a deeper understanding of extreme storms through high-resolution modeling, there is an opportunity to revolutionize traditional methods of estimating rainfall, according to the report. Updated estimates could better reflect the extremes expected in a warming climate and provide critical insights into the associated hazards of extreme rainfall, such as coastal storm surge and compound flooding.
John Nielsen-Gammon, Texas State Climatologist and regents professor at Texas A&M University, noted, "While the original goal of precipitation estimates was to design structures with an almost zero risk of failure, we may have been designing them to have a very low risk of failure but not an impossible one." He added, "A very low risk of failure is less reassuring than no risk at all."
"If you don’t account for climate change, you’re underestimating the risk, not just in the future but even in the present day, because the likelihood of extreme rainfall is increasing almost everywhere," Nielsen-Gammon emphasized. He highlighted that evidence suggests the probability of such events is rising most significantly for the less common occurrences.

"On a global scale, average annual precipitation is projected to increase by about 2% per degree of warming," Nielsen-Gammon explained. "However, the frequency of extreme precipitation events in a given year is rising by 7% or more per degree of warming."
Reed noted that the study recommended integrating future climate change impacts into calculations of extreme precipitation. This approach aims to enhance the resilience of our infrastructure and society against these evolving weather patterns.
According to NOAA's website, the agency anticipates issuing the first updated estimates by 2030, contingent on full funding for the program. Subsequently, the legislation mandates updates to these estimates at least every decade.
