He has created an impact in many movies and who can forget his performances in Andha 7 Natkal, Makkal En Pakkam, Achammillai Achammillai, to mention a few. He was someone who could pull both the good guy and bad guy with consumate ease. In his yesteryears, I remember his strong performances in Arai Enn 305 il Kadavul and Dharmadhurai. His voice was always an asset and it helped give a strong image to Malayalam actor Murali in his pivotal Tamil roles. His common stage name, his original name and him being related to director Mahendran helped us throw trivia in film quizzes. I was also amazed by his parallel foray into business. More than a decade ago, I heard about his trysts with business and real estate eavesdropping a conversation at his Ulundurpet hotel. The strangers in conversation appreciated his acumen and that people in cinema shouldnt be dependent on cinema alone. May his soul rest in peace.
