The estate sprawled out before her, and she couldn't see the house in the distance. This was where she transformed into the beast every full moon, and lost her mind into the woods. The moon was not up in the air yet, meaning she had a few moments of sanity to work with. It didn't really matter, but she lived for these peaceful moments. The one thing to be grateful for was that at least she was spared the inconvenience the monthly cramps her mother seemed to have. She wouldn't know what they were - they didn't speak of them, and Sherry LeBlanc wasn't going to be the one to breach that unspoken contract. Especially when her parents already tolerated her monstrosity and difference. She'd never be able to marry in this state since she never had her first bleed like all the other women had - whatever that meant.

All that she knows is they checked her white sheets frequently when she turned 13, and as she neared 19, they slowed checking before stopping altogether. Her first transformation came about at the same time she'd been expected to have her first bleed instead, and she woke up the next morning to her parents terrified and shocked. Next full moon, she was brought out to the edge of the estate and told she would be allowed to "play all night" out here. Instead, she passed out and woke up confused by how she ended up where she landed. The only reason she knew it was a beast she turned into was because of one of the servants daring to speak it with a level of terror. She was dismissed, and her parents comforted her by saying she was still their daughter, and to not worry her precious head with the fears of strangers.

Still, she knew if she wasn't their daughter, they would not have been so tolerant. Sherry had heard the name of her kind from behind closed doors with her father spatting the word like it was dirty, and she felt full of shame for who she was for the first time in her life. It wasn't her fault - she didn't know what happened to lead her to be a beast of the night. All she knew is that when she saw the silver moon rise on the horizon, she would lose her mind. And she welcomed it now like she hadn't when she was thirteen: a moment of escape from the day to day.

By contrast, they'd known about being a beast and it was all anyone talked about. Yusei and Jack cracked jokes about the monthly, and Crow joked about eating them if they pissed them off. Laughter and jokes was all they knew, really. While they were different from their sisters, they were like them in where it really mattered. As a group, they didn't know why Crow was so different from them but they didn't care. As far as Yusei and Jack were concerned, Crow was their sister who was sometimes a massive oversized beast. Another contrast between Crow and Sherry: Crow remembered being a wolf. It felt like freedom when they transformed, taking off into a night with vision designed for this. Food was theirs for the taking, and no one could stop them from destroying a cop car or two. They were sure to make sure before heading back home, they brought food for the kids.

This was an easy life as far as Crow was concerned. They just needed to ensure that everyone else could eat, and they were happy. From the day to day, most everyone knew that the beasts wandered among them, but only Yusei and Jack knew that Crow was one of them. Sure, they all were very aware what would happen to Crow if anyone found out that they were one of them. They'd heard the stories of the beasts being forcibly tracked, and that some of them were even put down. There was a lot of trust between the sisters - they would all go down for each other.

Everything, as far as Crow as concerned, was perfect. At least until they made the mistake of trespassing onto the Leblanc land in wolf form. They'd heard of wolves that were out of control - it was the whole reason people feared creatures like them - but they'd never seen it before. A beautiful golden wolf snarled at them, in a defensive position - defending her territory, Crow had to assume. They snarled in response, not wanting to rise to the challenge but not wanting to seem like a coward either. The golden wolf lunged forward, tearing through their defenses with a fervor that suggested there was no human mind behind the attacks: pure instinct was driving this beast. That was a surprise in itself: werewolves were supposed to have a level of humanity in their mind.

Crow didn't want to fight with another person, so most of their movements were to dodge the other wolf's attacks. They managed to escape the fight, sliding out under the fence they should've never gone past. Their mind was racing as they wondered what werewolf had carved out a segment of the Leblanc estate as her own, and they needed a chance to go back to see the human form.

The Leblanc Estate was well guarded, designed to keep trespassers off the land. It was why Crow wanted to meet the wolf that had dared to cross the boundaries to stake a claim. And yet when they returned to see who turned back into human form in the morning light, they were shocked to see none other than Sherry Leblanc, passed out under the very same tree she'd attacked them at. The sunlight filtered in from the tree, casting a halolike effect on her. Crow crouched down to rouse her awake, not caring that they still had the stink of nature all over them. "Hey, are you okay? You should probably head back to bed... unless you wanna attack me again."

Sherry's eyes fluttered open, consciousness slowly returning to her. Her cheeks turned pink, and she looked around wildly. "I'm so sorry if I hurt you," she said quickly, her words laced with a light French accent. "I just... who are you? Why are you here?"

Crow laughed. "Like I said - just a girl whose throat you tried to rip out last night," they said with a light wink. "But it's okay. You didn't cause any harm."

"You're also a wolf," Sherry said, hackles up again. She was glaring at Crow, acting as if she was a wounded animal trying to hide her bloody paw from someone who only wanted to help. Once again, her stance was defensive, and they could see the traces of the wolf in her. "Wait.. how do you remember what you did last night? That's not possible. No one remembers what they did as a beast."

"Well then. Looks like I have a lot of explaining to do, then."

I think it says a lot about Crow that his deepest desire isn't actually to experience what life would have been like with his own parents, but that the orphans he used to look after had had the luxury of being with theirs.

Any headcanons about Martha talking to the girls about her three boys (you know, just like a mother would do)? And of how she took the news about them finally having a gf (though in the anime she foresaw the obvious couple YuAki)?

OOF- She’d be overjoyed to know they’ve found a gf, slightly surprised about Jack, but she’d be really happy! I mean, she knows that their upbringing + the fact that 2 of 3 had their faces marked might have caused a lot of prejudice and that it might have been an obstacle with finding a partner for life, but Martha knows her kids have got character. She had no doubts they were going to be successful. She’s a proud mom (but in truth, she’s proud of all her children!!! she raised them well!!!), and she’s enthusiast by the fact that not only they saved the world, they also found their place in the world with respectable careers!

Getting back to your first question, she’s got only praise when it comes to Yusei. She’d tell Aki stories of when Yusei used to live at the orphanage (when he isn’t around, clearly)!!! She’d tell her about how he had always been a genius for his age with machines. She used to ask him for help when appliances would break down! His help was often enough to avoid calling the technician. He would also hide under his bed a lot of the devices he would find around the dump, to build small devices. He liked to experiment. Aki secretly loves all of these stories and she doesn’t tell Yusei bc she knows he gets embarrassed lol

Martha would also be happy for her delivery man! She knows her boi is a reliable boi, and she tells Sherry about his qualities all the time :U he’s a funny type but he’s also got a golden heart. He’s a hard worker. He cares about the people he loves, and sometimes, even those that he doesn’t know. But underneath the small talks with Sherry, the vibe Martha radiates is “don’t u dare break his heart or I’m gonna break your bones” bc Crow’s the fave boi, nobody is gonna touch him

Martha is also happy for Jack but she knows Carly has a rough type to deal with! Martha can see that Carly is a good person, anyway. She gives her a LOT of advice. She would tell her how many great qualities Jack has, even if sometimes it’s hard to see past his walls. Especially when Carly has things to complain about Jack (or her life in general lol). Martha would tell her about the child that Jack used to be, and these stories change Carly’s perspective completely. These stories are important for her. Martha and Carly develop a beautiful friendship and that’s something that I love. Carly loves how Martha can take care of all those children as her main job. She feels a lot of sympathy for all of those children, and she admires Martha a lot, too. I’m getting off-topic but you get the idea

Unnecessary rant

So I know this is kinda unnecessary right now and there are worse problems in this world. But there is this thing that kinda pisses me off everytime I read fanfiction - and with that I mean it pisses me off alot. 

So I read a lot of fanfiction lately, mostly 5D’s since I’m 5D’s trash. And I came across some Ravenknight (Crow x Sherry) fanfictions. And every single time it’s Crow who is taller than Sherry.

And.

He.

F*cking.

90% of my brain: Gosh, what a lovely scene with three wonderful characters. Thank you Ark Cradle for rekindling my faith in this show and reminding me why I fell in love with it, this was such a great duel.

to ME crow does not become a cop at the end of 5ds. no. here's what actually happened:

with his brothers', martha's, and aki's help (actually her dad pulling strings within the government), he buys a mansion that he converts into an orphanage. it is now a nonprofit orphanage, and he has small dedicated staff for the operations & a larger volunteer to help watch the kids.

sherry becomes one of those volunteers, and visits daily. she avoids crow at first, merely hanging out with the kids and teaching them french and helping them with their homework. at first she's uncomfortable bc these were the kids she was willing to sacrifice to see her parents again, and she has a lot of guilt about that. she's trying to work past that.

one day, she accidentally runs into crow trying to leave and he's so fuckin happy to see her. like, more happy than a guy she tried to kill should be. he's talking to her about how the kids love her, and how he's pleased to know someone's able to em with their homework since he barely knows how to read. asks to catch up with her some time, tells her he'll see her around.

and yknow. from there is a whole 100k slowburn that i can't get into right now but DOES live rent free in my head. just so you know.

Hello! I love your work so much! A question I've been wondering as I've read your stories is if you would write something for Sherry. Is that something you're planning on doing? Would you do anything for ravenshipping (Crow x Sherry) to give them both development since they kinda worked in the show?

Sorry for not answering this sooner, but I hope this response will make up for it! Thank you so much for the compliment, first things first! I’m glad you enjoy my stories.

I would absolutely write something for Sherry! As a matter of fact, I may have a story or two with her as the focus in my 5Ds idea doc already! I think she’s a very interesting character and could be really fun to explore. I just have some other stuff I need to get out of my head first, haha. As for Ravenknightshipping, not sure yet! I generally like their dynamic and feel like it had potential, so writing that could be fun. (And maybe giving them actual setup and development so it feels like they’re not complete strangers and a potential relationship feels earned.) Let’s put it this way: Right now, I’d absolutely like to write these two as a dynamic, but I don’t know if I’ll go into shippy stuff yet. We’ll see how it goes once I get my hands on them, I guess! That said, I do like Ravenknightshipping, so it’s in the cards, I’d say. ^^

i have a question that i need answer for: Why do you ship Crow with Sherry. Don't mind me, just curiosity (and maybe a reason to sail that ship too)

The idea came after I saw their duel. I thought “wait, why not?” and I basically ended up accepting that idea passively

(a ship that I used to like was Bruno and Sherry, but we all know that Bruno uhm disappears at some point, so it wasn’t valid anymore...)

but you know what. After all the running, after all the chaos, Crow would be a good man for Sherry. He’s reliable. He’s protective. He’s good

Crow would be an amazing father. If I were Sherry and saw him taking care of the kids at the orphanage, I would melt

Filling the Emptiness with Dance

YGO Rare Pair Week Day 2

Prompt: Dancing

Pair: Crow Hogan/Sherry Le Blanc

Word Count: 686

Summary: Sherry teaches Crow how to dance in her family’s old ballroom.

“And this…”

Sherry held Crow’s hand as she led him into the next room in their tour: a wide room with a chandelier in the centre of the ceiling and rows of windows on every extravagant wall. Crow had seen entire homes back in Satellite that were smaller than this single room was.

“…Is the ballroom,” Sherry explained, keeping their fingers entwined when they stopped in the doorway.

“Tch.” Crow rolled his eyes. “A ballroom? Seriously? What did you even use this for?”

He stiffened. Was that question too… insensitive? Thankfully, Sherry didn’t seem fazed by Crow’s slight rudeness, as she simply smiled and answered.

“For dancing, of course.” Her smile seemed almost sad as she added, “I used to step on Papa’s toes all the time when he would teach me.”

Crow stared at her. “Oh… I see.”

Sherry paused to take a deep breath, her fingers tightening around Crow’s hand.

“I haven’t danced in many years… So…” She turned to Crow with a more genuine smile. “May I… have this dance, Crow Hogan?”

Crow’s jaw dropped. “What?! You’ve gotta be jokin’! I can’t dance!”

“Oh, don’t worry,” Sherry slid her hand onto Crow’s hip as she spoke, making him let out a startled squeak. “Since I am the taller one of us two, I will be the one leading. All you have to do is try not to step on my feet.”

Crow audibly gulped, his face red at both the proximity and the idea of doing something so… Well, ‘fancy’ for lack of a better term. This felt way out of his league. Sherry herself at times like these felt way out of his league.

“I’ll uh… do my best… m-ma chérie?” The French was… well, incredibly stilted and accented, even though it was only two words. Still, Sherry smiled at the attempt.

“Merci… now…” Sherry guided Crow’s hand to her shoulder, keeping tight hold of his other hand. “You hold my shoulder, I hold your hip, we both hold hands… and then we just sort of… sway.”

Sherry was taking slow steps around the ballroom floor, keeping hold of Crow the entire time, making sure he was able to keep up and that she didn’t make any sudden movements.

“It… feels a bit silly,” Crow admitted, his smile visibly embarrassed.

Sherry smiled too. “That is because you did not grow up doing it.”

Crow shrugged. “Didn’t really get much of a chance. Not many ballrooms in the Satellite,” he replied, looking away.

“Right…” Sherry let go of Crow’s hip, holding his other hand up in preparation to twirl him.

Crow flinched, eyes wide as they met Sherry’s again. “Hey, what are ya doin?”

“Twirling you. Of course,” Sherry answered, as casually as if she were ordering tea.

The taller blonde twirled Crow around, making him squeak in surprise. He rested his hand on Sherry’s shoulder again the moment he was forwards again, nearly tripping over his own feet as he straightened out again.

“Isn’t that supposed to be the other way around?” The nervous question slipped past Crow’s lips.

“You are too short to twirl me.” There was a slight teasing in Sherry’s tone.

“I can try!” Crow insisted, his eyes narrowed.

“You can.” Sherry stopped swaying, taking hold of both of Crow’s hands as she gazed down at him. “But that does not necessarily mean you will succeed.”

Crow frowned at that. He lifted their hands the way he’d seen Sherry do, barely able to get his hand above Sherry’s head. Then had to jump to execute the twirl. Sherry chuckled as she did so, visibly dizzy when she turned to face Crow again.

“See?” Crow couldn’t help but feel smug. “Piece of cake.”

Sherry smiled and rolled her eyes. “Mhm, sure, Crow… you’re cute, you know.”

Crow’s cheeks reddened at that. “Y-yeah… you too, Sherry…”

Sherry twirled Crow around again, the two then swaying in tandem together throughout the otherwise empty ballroom. It was empty but also… peaceful. Crow had to admit, not aloud but to himself, that it was rather nice. Even if he still felt a bit silly.
