#read in bed

i had a conversation with my friend about books the other day, i just remembered, they had this brilliant question, we were talking about this one book (not important) and i was talking about the main character and about the shit that went down in the book and yada yada and they asked me if the main character is going to die.

and i was like well, no, every book is told from her pov and she’s said to not die in the end, it’s not that type of a book. so then we went on a talk about books that end with the main character dying at the end and that led to me ranting about how much i hate when the author kills my favourite side character in the middle of the book and that then led to my friend asking the brilliant question.

did you ever read a book where the main character dies in the middle of the book, and the pov changes then? because that’s not usual right, either the main character survives or dies at the end.

and that got me thinking because oh wow, such a cool concept right? we’re talking single pov here, main character, who is the only narrator.

so like, i’ve been carrying this in my head for a few days now and i’ve already came to conclusion that i’ve never read a book like that, nor do i know one. and i so want to read something like that.

because, hear me out, you get into a book or series and there’s the main character, the only narrator through whose eyes we see the story and then, right in the middle when you least expect it, they die. and the pov shifts. and like imagine, let’s say there was the side character and they suddenly become the main protagonist, and the narrative shitfs, and they now have to carry the burden of telling the story.

i need to read something, anything like that, if only for the reason that i never did. like that has such a potential to me, and it’s so unusual and it can go so many ways. i need to open this conversation with my friend again too, because they put such a bug in my head like fuck them so much, they barely read.

so yeah. damn, what do i do.
