Reminded me of the Venus Vampire Stan,

Now I can’t stop imagining Human Stan grimacing as he has to rebite a bunch of zombs to turn them back into humans.

Following the zombie apocalypse (Which is, as usual, Fords fault somehow) Stan's going around, trying to survive as the world falls apart around him. Life goes on, society collapses, hoards of undead are roaming the streets and Stan-

Well, he's actually doing pretty good, relatively. Sure his family's missing and Fords probably dead and he's alone and all his attempts at becoming rich were in vain but at least he's not in debt! All those guys are dead! Everyones dead! Its just him slowly going insane from isolation!

Then the worst happens. He gets cornered by a zombie, was a little too careless at the wrong time, its got him in its disgusting grasp, mouth open and- and-

And Stan bites back. Its awful and disgusting, all rotting flesh and ruined clothes but if he's gonna die he's gonna go down fighting. This walking corpse might eat him but not before he- ugh- eats some of him back.

Then he's gagging and heaving in confusion when the zombie stumbles back, rapidly undecaying? (Is that a word? it is now) and there's a whole guy with him now. A clueless guy, who was just about to eat him, and was also dead. Stan has no idea if it was a fluke or what, but now he's responsible for this random dude, he guesses? Teaches him the best he can, explains what happened, and now Stan's not alone! He's got a buddy!

A buddy who goes 'hey! Wanna see if you can do that again?'

The answer is Hell No That Was Disgusting and the texture still haunts his dreams but also. Yes.

Long story short I think Stan rises as a post apocalyptic god who can cure zombies if this is a Stan specific thing. Un zombies a bunch of people, they take back a small town or city, uncaring about being bitten because why? If they get bitten they've got ways to round up zombies without killing them, and Stan will just bite them at some point. Creates a safe haven as Stan slowly and really, really regrettably works on finding one (1! Just one! Anyone!) scientist who can make a cure out of his spit or teeth or whatever so he can stop biting dead people. Its so nasty, he's dry heaving constantly and god. They need to wash all these dead people before Stan gets to them because none of this is sanitary.

Unsure if he cures Ford or (to me, the funnier option) Ford and his post apocalypic team hear of a god who can cure any zombie, and the safe haven that thrives under his guiding hand (Stan does nothing here, he's barely in charge and mostly just gets what he wants out of gratefulness and pity at watching him bite dead people. Its a good set up for him really). Ford rolls up, ready to shake the hand of the scientist who found the cure or deck the sharleton leading people on to find Stan, in his makeshift sorta temple where, like classic gods, he gets offerings in exchange for curing zombies and basically does nothing to contribute except bite people.

Ford, outraged, tries to expose Stan as a fake only to get slapped in the face by everyone immediately jumping to Stan's smug defense. Everyone here was a zombie before Stan cured them! Or watched him cure someone when they came for protection! Ford demands to see it in person, internally grinning when Stan says he 'really doesn't have to, trust me' (Stan does not want his bro watch him bite a zombie. Its bad enough as it is). Unfortuantly Ford is Ford, and he's gonna see it one way or another. Gets slapped again with watching Stan bite a tied up zombie and then they regrow their skin and are now a human person.

Can Ford do that? Does he want to find out? Stan's heaving and gagging makes that a No but his curiosity points to yes.

Anyway thats all I got there.

Fords hunting down Whatever mystical white furred creature Bill was transporting that can cure vampires. All the guys in the warehouse Stan cured with his reverse vampire bite can remember is golden eyes and white fur, as their previously dead brains couldn't retain the memories post cure, and actually where are they? Def need therapy for either being down to murder or being so twisted they became down to murder.

Tracks Stan down the same way as in the fic, except here instead of staking the would be not-muggar he lunges and watches them transform back into a human, then just stares bug eyed at the mythical vampire curing Stan, who still doesn't think vampires are real and does not like being dragged around by his brother and... and

actually who is this guy? Whey are they bringing the mugger with them Ford? Whats happening? Ford?

Now instead of trying to convince Stan he's a vampire and vampires are real its them trying to swab his mouth, take his DNA, and getting him to bite people? Gross. Nasty. Please let him go to his car and leave.

To be honest, I was extremely anxious before all of this happened. However, I've been pleasantly surprised to discover the overwhelming amount of positive feedback pouring in from both my fans and people who have come across the news about me. It's heartwarming to see that my story is being acknowledged from all around the world, and this brings me immense joy. Although they may be baby steps, I sense that this world is gradually moving into the light. Yesterday, I made an announcement about resuming my career as an artist. I also released a new song titled “Into The Light”. The music video for the song is also on YouTube now. This song is packed with the emotions and thoughts leading up to this point, including my decision to come out. Living with anxieties and struggles is not limited to just LGBTQ+ individuals. I hope this song can be a source of encouragement for anyone carrying such emotions. I've aimed for it to become a song that can uplift those with similar feelings. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Pride House Tokyo, Japan’s first permanent LGBTQ+ center, and ReBit, an organization providing resources and support for LGBTQ+ youth. I hope this song will touch many hearts.🙏🌈

Fans of Shinjiro Atae, a J-pop idol who has been on a nearly two-year performance hiatus, had come to hear him talk about “the challenge of my life.” Standing onstage in a dark auditorium in front of 2,000 fans in central Tokyo on Wednesday night, he revealed something he has kept hidden for most of his life: He is gay.

He also hopes to comfort those who might be grappling with anxieties about their sexuality.

AAA debuted in 2005, with Mr. Atae, the youngest member, forgoing high school. He performed mostly as a dancer, and began appearing in TV series and movies.

His sexuality perplexed him. “It was a time when on TV, comedians would say two men kissing was gross,” he said. If anyone asked if he had a girlfriend, he just said he was too busy working.

Activists said they could not recall an instance when a Japanese pop star of his stature had publicly declared they were gay, because of anxieties about losing fans or sponsors.

“I think he has decided to come out in order to change Japan,” said Gon Matsunaka, a director and adviser to Pride House Tokyo, a support center for the gay and transgender community.

The decision to open up about his sexuality, he said, evolved over seven years of living in Los Angeles, where he saw how freely gay couples could show affection in public and built an extensive support network.

“Everyone was so open,” he said. “People would talk about their vulnerabilities. In Japan, people think it’s best not to talk about those things.”

Mr. Atae’s decision, he said, was not political.  All he wanted, he said, was to “normalize” being gay. Coming out, he knew, would likely draw criticism. “Whatever you do, there will be haters,” he said. “I can only focus on the people I might be helping.”

How do I write good morally grey characters? (Genuine question)

you give a character a morality that makes sense, and could be understood by most rational human beings on this earth, but then have it also be harmful to others, whether that's intensely or mildly.

most people in this world are morally gray, you know?

selfish and self centered, and likely to do bad things in their own self interest, if they think they won't get caught...but you know. most people are not raging psychopaths who will go out of their way to harm others....nor will they make much of an effort to help others who are not their friends or family.

gray morality is sort of hard to pin down, but it always comes back to...

black morality is This Bitch enjoys killing, and does it for funsies. they cause suffering to others just because they want to, and can, and this is morally wrong, because...uh, well. the basics of human interactions suggest hurting other people without any cause at all is the lowest of the low.

white morality is This Guy is a hero, who saves kittens and little old ladies and refuses to harm others (intentionally or unintentionally). most people can agree, someone who saves other people from death or injury is good.

gray morality, though, is that guy is a selfish piece of shit, but sometimes, occasionally, he does good things. only for his own self interests, of course, but it's a net positive for the world.

he threw a bunch of people down river, when it suited him, but was there when it counted, or maybe, accidentally does help the good guys with his selfish actions.

let me give you an example... Jack Sparrow.

Pirate. Thief. Murderer.

Not a hero. Will sell out other people to save his own skin. Kills wantonly, drinks too much, steals anything that isn't nailed down.

Doesn't really go out of his way to save people...except occasionally, he does.

Except in the end, he does save his friend, and he does save his fellow pirates...who are.

you know. pirates.

bad people.

he's an agent of chaos. he's whimsical, lawless, lives as he likes, and causes all kinds of trouble.

and that's a good morally gray character.

someone who both helps and harms.

and that's something to keep in mind, when you write your morally gray character, btw, whether you want them to be more helpful to your heroes, or more of a hindrance.

either one works for the morally gray.

and then we have a character like say, Dexter.

A serial killer who kills serial killers, right?

Yeah, killing is bad, especially serial killing, but if it's other serial killers...fun, right?

Weird.

Interesting to think of.

So.

To come back to it.

My advice for morally gray characters is to sit down and think of a character who has good traits and bad traits.

Mix them together, according to how you want this character to affect, say, our villains or our heroes.

Then decide, well, are they more inclined towards helping the evil side, the good side, or is it more pure chaos they exude?

I myself tend to write a lot of morally gray characters.

But that's only because I love writing murderous MCs, and most people do see murder as amoral, for some reason.

Anyway.

That's my advice on the morally gray.

Give them rules. Give them motives. Let them have good traits and bad traits.

Let them be rude to old women, but have a soft spot for kids...and also do awful things that affect both negatively.

the most important thing to avoid, as that post indicates, is just making a grumpy hero who just seems kinda mean sometimes.

that's not morally gray.

morally gray, to me at least, implies that that character does actual harm.

if they're only mean to bad people, only negatively affect the bad people, then newsflash, they're just heroes. they're white morality, just not disneyfied into sterility.

make sure your morally gray characters do harm!!!

Ok, I had a whole post about why it’s fucked up to start calling Stella a narcissist as soon as we had solid proof she’s abusing Octavia, but it’s lost in my drafts and I just saw someone call Cash a narcissist so…

Narcissist is not a synonym for abuser and narcissistic abuse is not real!

I say this as someone abused by someone with NPD. Because guess what? I was also abused by multiple other neurodivergent people without NPD, but if I called that “autistic abuse” or “obsessive compulsive abuse” you’d rightfully be down my throat about being ableist.

Please point to me where Stella and Cash show symptoms of NPD. I’ll wait.

And no, Cash’s scapegoat/golden/forgotten child family structure does not count. That’s just regular ol’ child abuse stuff. I was the scapegoat for my non-NPD grandmother, I would know.
