I really don't know what to do with the fact that my teeth have been toothpaste flavored for over 24 hours despite much eating and no additional toothpaste. Like what's even happening there. Perplexing.

I'm wondering if, as a society who cares about vulnerable people, we could stop saying "traumatize" when we truly mean "upset"?
I am sick of hearing sad books or movies "traumatize" their readers. I simply do not believe that happens. A traumatic experience might be adjacent to books (I have vivid memories of books I was reading around certain experiences and even how the contents of those books affected my processing of the experiences). But it's not caused by the book. And, y'know. The weather is Christofascist Censorship Attempts outside.
Meanwhile from the other side I continue to be surprised at just how badly people fail to understand trauma and traumatic experiences in general. Watering down the term isn't helping. Find other hyperbole to express that The Bridge to Terebithia gutted you, chewed on your heartstrings, and made you cry your first pair of contact lenses right out of your preteen eyes.
(ETA here although it's impossible to edit reblogs: over the months since this post really took off, there has been valuable discussion in the comments. I stand by the passion with which I wrote this post and with the general message, but not all the exact wording. I talk more about the way I'd re-write this post in a response here, replying to an addition that added a ton of useful context [other additions touched on similar themes, but that person had it all together in one reblog]. With that said, I am muting this post.)

hypothetical scenario for you all: the real king arthur returns. you meet him and you welcome him into your home. what is the first thing you do with him? keep in mind, this is a man from the 500s (he died in 542), and you are from the 21st century (2024).

reminder to myself and whoever else needs it to stop feeding the machine. I'm aware I'm yelling into the void but look at the past couple years of games. They're pushing $70, $80, $100!!! for games that are completely unfinished, unpolished, and sometimes completely unplayable. Yes the game showcases were cool. The doom game looks sick and I don't even go there, but they're shaking the shiny keys to distract you and get you swept up in the hype. They're going to push so much fomo marketing to get you to jump for it full price.
Wait for sales. Wait and buy a used copy. Hell, wait a couple days (even hours!!!) after launch and reviews and breakdowns will start coming out. Our game backlogs are already packed, and mr big AAA studio can deal with some of us waiting to see if they actually delivered what was promised.

Farcille is so interesting to me because at first it comes off as a very fluffy ship but the more you reread the series the more you realize they actually have some serious baggage to work through before they could believably be in a romantic relationship… but that baggage has nothing to do with the necromancy or the accidental transformation or the violations of the in-universe Geneva Convention or the (SPOILERS) cannibalism (/SPOILERS) and everything to do with Marcille treating Falin like she’s a Precious Moments figurine

I found an extremely dope disability survival guide for those who are homebound, bedbound, in need of disability accommodations, or would otherwise like resources for how to manage your life as a disabled person. (Link is safe)
It has some great articles and resources and while written by people with ME/CFS, it keeps all disabilities in mind. A lot of it is specific to the USA but even if you're from somewhere else, there are many guides that can still help you. Some really good ones are:
How to live a great disabled life- A guide full of resources to make your life easier and probably the best place to start (including links to some of the below resources). Everything from applying for good quality affordable housing to getting free transportation, affordable medication, how to get enough food stamps, how to get a free phone that doesn't suck, how to find housemates and caregivers, how to be homebound, support groups and Facebook pages (including for specific illnesses), how to help with social change from home, and so many more.
Turning a "no" into a "yes"- A guide on what to say when denied for disability aid/accommodations of many types, particularly over the phone. "Never take no for an answer over the phone. If you have not been turned down in writing, you have not been turned down. Period."
How to be poor in America- A very expansive and helpful guide including things from a directory to find your nearest food bank to resources for getting free home modifications, how to get cheap or free eye and dental care, extremely cheap internet, and financial assistance with vet bills
How to be homebound- This is pretty helpful even if you're not homebound. It includes guides on how to save spoons, getting free and low cost transportation, disability resources in your area, home meals, how to have fun/keep busy while in bed, and a severe bedbound activity master list which includes a link to an audio version of the list on Soundcloud
Master List of Disability Accommodation Letters For Housing- Guides on how to request accommodations and housing as well as your rights, laws, and prewritten sample letters to help you get whatever you need. Includes information on how to request additional bedrooms, stop evictions, request meetings via phone, mail, and email if you can't in person, what you can do if a request is denied, and many other helpful guides
Special Laws to Help Domestic Violence Survivors (Vouchers & Low Income Housing)- Protections, laws, and housing rights for survivors of DV (any gender), and how to get support and protection under the VAWA laws to help you and/or loved ones receive housing and assistance
Dealing With Debt & Disability- Information to assist with debt including student loans, medical debt, how to deal with debt collectors as well as an article with a step by step guide that helped the author cut her overwhelming medical bills by 80%!
There are so many more articles, guides, and tools here that have helped a lot of people. And there are a lot of rights, resources, and protections that people don't know they have and guides that can help you manage your life as a disabled person regardless of income, energy levels, and other factors.
Please boost!

working irl to counter issues such as racism and queerphobia gives you the secret super power of giving significantly less fucks about online discourse and fandom wank. i don’t care about the problematic age gap incest ship you think is ruining your life there’s no affordable housing in my city and they’re cutting the funding for volunteer anti discrimination projects

so when i was little, my dad would put on records any time we had to deep-clean the house. it's how i was introduced to the song roxanne.
i was like, maybe 5. "why is she putting on a red light?" i thought perhaps it was about the game "red light green light", which i enjoyed quite a bit because i was quick and small, and also i was prone to violence. maybe sting and the police wanted to run very fast and roxanne kept calling "red light" like the one kid in my kindergarten class who played the game wrong.
this is not what the song is about. add to this a fact that will become a problem later in my life (lesbian, nonbinary, etc) - my family is deeply catholic. my father (deacon, conservative, staring at a 5 year old) i guess sort of panicked because he said: "you know bug lights? and how they're blue?"
i was aware of this. some lights kill bugs but all lights were married to bugs, in my estimation of things. some marriages just end in killing, which i had learned from sneakily watching murder, she wrote.
he tried to explain that the red light is a bug-light, but just a different type. as an adult, i think he was mostly joking.
as a child, i immediately accepted this. this explained the pain in the man's voice. critically, reader, the understanding i had? they had written a song about roxanne, who is a bug. i would sing along and feel great empathy for this terribly suicidal roxanne bug, RIP.
anyway the answer to your question (how long) is: like a lot longer than you'd think. i watched moulin rougue for the first time and thought to myself: now hang on a second.

I need people to stop calling all trans men transmasc. First of all, not all trans men are masc, some of us actually like to keep our femininity. Secondly, it feels completely degrading! You're not a "man" you're just... "masculine". So we dont have to think about you being a man, because it's gross. "Masculine" is less scary type shit. Fuck off. I'm a man. Im not "masc". I'm a trans man. If one more person calls me transmasc instead of saying Im a trans man I'm going to lose it.
Edit: this post is about trans men. If I get another comment going on about how "transmasc is an umbrella term" I KNOW. THIS ISN'T ABOUT THAT. THIS IS ABOUT TRANS MEN. Istg I'll turn off reblogs
Edit 2: Yall need to grow tf up. Just because I said something about how I feel about my identity doesn't mean I hate transmascs or I'm transphobic, are you serious?
Yes, transmasc is an umbrella term.
No, I don't identify with it and I'm allowed to be upset when people don't respect that.
These statements can and do fucking coexist. Jesus fucking christ.
If you think think it's "explicitly transphobic" to be upset that people are refusing to use the terms you prefer, just fucking block me.

@staff @humans
You know, as another user said, even 4chan is at least able to tell people why they were banned/ had their accounts deleted. No one can possibly appeal if you don’t tell them why. But maybe thats why you don’t list a reason.
Many trans women have been banned with no official answer given. Idk if I were running a website that the community hates the moderation and team for constantly banning and deleting the blogs of trans women I would , at minimum, be a little more transparent about why they were banned.
It’s very clear that trans woman are held to an impossible standard that the rest of the website isn’t. Trans woman are our fellow bloggers, friends, lovers and family. You’re actively alienating the few people who actually use this website anymore. This is a pattern of behavior and targeted attacks.
Trans women get banned for no reason but you can’t do anything about @nyancrimew getting rape threats? It is on its own there???????
There is a double standard where trans women are held to an impossible standard you’re able to shut their blogs down for no reason but apparently you’re powerless to do anything about actual hate crimes on this website.
Date posted: June 13th, 2024. For reference in case I get banned like I’ve seen other people instantly banned for speaking out.
