Rewatching the 2017 season for my own sick and twisted pleasure of seeing my goat suffer and noticing one thing….
If he was just a second faster… he would’ve had a chance to get 3rd in Singapore in a bum ass McHonda.
Hear me out…
He qualified 8th so the McTrashcan had some sort of pace that weekend. You can see Fernando doing what he does best as the best starter in history and already making moves going around the outside.
But Fernando’s luck is so bad that he gets swept up in the Kimi/Max crash just for being smart at the start and minding his own business (like 90% of the crashes he’s involved in).
Singapore is a hard track to overtake at and no matter what car Fernando is in he’s brilliant at defending (like Hungary 21, São Paulo 23, shit even Singapore 22 when he was defending against Verstappen for a lot of laps until his car blow up) so he would’ve had a chance to get that 3rd or at least a high finishing position.
The commenter was saying he was “at the right place, wrong time”… yeah… story of his career.
#i have an aneurysm everytime someone says that Charles is the most unluckiest driver..#um..#FERNANDO IS LITERALLY RIGHT THERE#recency bias is a disease..#anyway i just had to comment on this because his luck is nonexistent#fernando alonso#f1#formula 1

Honestly sooooooo fucked up that I thought my overwhelming daily fatigue and debilitating body pain was a product of the awful working conditions I was under for years and years... and yet, despite being out of work for half a year now, I'm still so fatigued and in pain all the time??? Like come on man that's not fair
Oh well maybe I have liver disease and they'll treat it and then I am magically so much more energized like I was as a kid. We can only hope !!!!
#speculation nation#negative/#um. not hoping i have liver disease but the blood tests blatantly state that it's not working entirely right.#not like major enough to be an immediate health emergency. or else my doctor probably wouldve called me#rather than referring me to radiology.#im just hoping that it's something easy to treat. it really would be so nice for my problems to be fixed like that.#and im mentioning it in conjunction with the fatigue just bc it can cause fatigue. ya kno.#probably is a good thing i caught it this early whatever it is.#like maybe it's Not fibromyalgia. but the fact that i pursued diagnosis for fibromyalgia spurred the blood tests#which alerted my doctor to the abnormal liver enyzmes.#if i hadnt pursued diagnosis who knows how much longer this wouldve gone on like this...#so! im still not happy to be doing a Fucking ultrasound for my liver. but. if it means catching whatever this is early#then like. it'll be worth it. doubly so if it does end up fixing my fatigue problems.#or even just some of them. i dont even need to be at 100% of what others can do#i just wanna be able to do half an hour of chores without feeling like im going to collapse 😭😭😭😭#it's really very troublesome. my life would be so much easier if i had the energy to do more than one thing per day.#(and if i do more than one thing i end up nearly bedridden the rest of the day. like today lol.)#im just trying to look on the bright sides so i dont start freaking out again about my liver not working right.#ultimately. even if i dont feel amazing. i dont feel all that different from how ive lived the past decade of my life.#or at least the most recent years. i kind of feel like my chronic pain has gotten worse. maybe fatigue too.#though i do know ive been dealing with both for however long. idk. might be recency bias. who knows.#ANYWAYS. im not actively dying. so i'll live to my appointments. and then i will hope it's smooth sailing from there.#(oh god i hope i wont need surgery. i dont want surgery. please im trying to graduate college i do not want surgery)#(god why is my luck always so bad)

Which characters had run out of spoons?
So @iguessitsjustme inadvertently introduced me to Spoon Theory a few weeks ago. It may have flaws, but I've enjoyed my deep dive into learning about it 💖.
It's flaws are strongest for me when talking about it's initial purpose (chronic disease/disability), but I've enjoyed exploring its implications and how it's been used in a broader context. For the rest of this post, I am using the term "spoon" in the lens of that wider/broader application.
And as this week closes...I have so few spoons left.
The basic concept behind the theory helps me rationalize the actions of some characters. Those moments when I'm like why? Why are you being like that? Why did you do that?
Because there are definitely characters that just don't have any spoons left. Maybe they didn't have a lot to start with. Or maybe they just have so much on their plate, that there's none left to deal with the new problems. It definitely impacts their decision making. For many of these characters, it impacts their physical wellbeing too.
So here's me making that list today. Because I haven't had enough spoons left to write a meta or proper reaction post in days.
Recency bias is definitely in play. Digging deeper in my memory would require more effort.
#1 - Da-on (Secret Relationships)
Da-on has SO much on his plate. Between his family, his past and all of the crazy (people) in his life, is it any wonder than he often just doesn't have the energy to deal?
We see him experience a nosebleed and collapse multiple times both in the past and the present.
Which makes the fact that he gave this presentation after being kidnapped and seeing Sung-hyun seriously injured all the more significant. That had to be his last spoon.
#2 - Fadel (The Heart Killers)
Particularly in the early episodes, Fadel was just tired. The man was running an entire restaurant practically by himself. No, I don't think Bison was much of a help there. He was living a double life as a hitman while trying to protect himself and his brother.
He definitely didn't have the energy for Style's shenanigans at that point.
But eventually, Style gave him a place to rest.
#3 - Hiro (Perfect Propose)
Hiro is the definition of being so overworked that he can't function.
But as his relationship with Kai developed...
He realized he had to prioritize himself over work.
Which is good, because I honestly don't think Kai had a lot of spoons either. He just put every spoon he had into taking care of Hiro.
#4 - Wei Qian (Unknown)
The man has raised himself and his siblings using every means possible. He's helped them scrape by while always prioritizing their well-being and happiness.
He's running himself ragged to lead a business that could very easily fail in an effort to give them a more stable life.
Of course he didn't have the energy to process it when Yuan first kissed him.
It's no wonder it took time for him to realize both his own feelings and to understand that Yuan was able and more than willing to share his burdens.
Who would you add to the list?
Feel free to reply or reblog with your additions.
#one of these is not like the others#no spoons left#fadelstyle#the heart killers#secret relationships bl#secret relationships#unknown#unknown the series#perfect propose#korean bl#thai bl#japanese bl#taiwanese bl#nabi writes

to sit behind a screen and discredit daniel’s technical input is beyond insane to me. i can tell some of you are fresh out of the womb because anyone with a brain knows how vital he was to red bull during his first stint and also what he was able to do with renault. he’s been back in the red bull family for almost 10 months now and you think in that time he hasn’t influenced anything?? not even 1 thing?? you think they stuck him in the sim for funsies?? recency bias is a disease, get help <3
#that man has spent the majority of his life in and around racing#to claim he cannot push a team/influence an upgrade no matter how big or small is just ignorant#zak brown must get a hard on when he sees you pea brained people try and discredit daniel as a driver

I'm not usually on football Twitter but some takes feel like old kpop fan wars that's why i deleted the app too much headache i remember when people were trying to push Raphinha out of the club recency bias is a DISEASE fr and it happened with yamal gavi lewa frenkie
It's exactly like old K-pop fanwars down to the evil shit they say and how they throw away all their morals to "win" said fanwar. And I really don't think a single one of our players who didn't get that treatment but they take it up a notch with Gavi for some reason

Spoilers for One Piece 1102!
Things I liked last this week:
cover page good yes hotdog
I still really liked Bonney's pre-time skip fit even if the recent revelations have soured me on it a bit.
Its so surreal seeing early OP events happening from this alternative perspective, it feels like reading history...
"Rogue-town?" I wonder if this panel is Oda slyly acknowledging that one fan theory...
Yeah!! Stealing!! Not helping!! Big cool pirate shit!!
I love that a 10 yo's idea of lipstick application is accidentally a total look, trés chic young Bonners
I fucking knew that her piercing would be some sort of nod to her disease appearance but this is even sadder than I expected...
"Even I might pass out from this one" Zoro fans eating this acknowledgement, chewing it delicately, savouring it like a succulent Wagyu morsel
NOTHING HAPPENED BUT EVERYTHING HAPPENED
Kuma sneaking around!! like a silly bear searching for honey!
Pre-time skip Robin... thank you for the festive meal...
This part is genuinely hard to read... Kuma knowing what will be done to him for saving the Strawhats, Vegapunk trying desperately to bargain with Saturn, Kuma wanting to help one last time, believing in Luffy, grateful to the end...
Seeing this animated is going to kill me, calling it now. I can barely take it reading through it again. Reading this on Sunday was the second time EVER I've cried reading a comic.
So full of love and gratitude until his final moment of sapience... Kuma might be my favourite OP character now. Some of that might is definitely recency bias talking lmao, but I have a feeling that will still be true by the time this gets animated. AND that panel of Bonney right the end, the double whammy of her confirmed to have seen all those memories, and confirmed to be only 10 years old... Her basically being aged up to continue be sexualised still turns my stomach, but a tiny part of that still hits emotionally...
God lads, I'm glad we have next week off, I need some time to recover from that. But i'll see ye there in 2024 💪✖️

I'm sincerely always so shocked to hear how much people didn't like shadowlands. Like i had assumed it was recency bias like when everyone says the newest thing is bad bc it's New and Scary but that really doesn't seem to be the case now that dragonflight is out
I mean it though when I say that I think I had some of the most fun I've ever had in an expack in shadowlands, and also was more engaged with the plot start to finish than I have been with literally any other expansion EVEN THOUGH I boycotted the game for like. A year or more or whatever bc of their terrible staffing decisions ( letting kotick continue to be alive).
Idk what disease I have that made sl so fun for me and not for anyone else but man. Man.

Op Ed - Recency Bias

By: Greg Rector There's a pandemic going on in the sports social media sphere. The disease in question? That only the athletes of today are the best ever, what I call recency bias.

Michael Jordan was the unquestioned face of the Bulls, even today. Lebron made the Cavs famous and popular. Soon the time will come for a new star to take command of the league from Golden State, in a way command the respect, if not the jubilation, of all fans. Credit: Sports Illustrated You have this not just from the younger generation of fans but also we're seeing from the current player's claims that they would beat someone 1 on 1 who was playing before the game before they were even born. Still, others seem to feel they need to proclaim their Hall of Fame credentials. Guess what? There's a system in place to determine being worthy of enshrinement in all the Halls of Fame. Touting yourself as Hall of Fame worthy is not classy at all. Other than gaining clicks I sure don't see the point to this and I find it repugnant that both fans and these players think it's an okay exercise. It truly denigrates previous generations of athletes and what they did in their eras. Even less fun? Being an older fan who has watched several eras of these sports and the players we saw and enjoyed so much. I want to write about this because I was involved in a recent exercise with a bunch of folks on Twitter. I and NBS' own Bill Carroll (NBS Draft Central) recently participated in what was called "The All-Time NFL Mock Draft." We had a snake draft with all 32 current NFL teams represented. Of course, I represented the Dallas Cowboys while Bill represented the Philadelphia Eagles. For me, the keywords in this draft are "All-Time." so yes you could if you wanted to draft a player from 1920 onward. Here's where Bill and I diverged from the rest save for one choice by Bill (His placekicker) we didn't select any active players at all. I vowed to myself to not use a single current player and stuck to it. Yes, there are current players who certainly could qualify for an "All-Time," roster. But when you see Justin Herbert and Josh Allen being drafted in an "All-Time," mock draft you kinda shake your head and go say what? Justin Jefferson? Seriously folks do those limited careers belong in any "All Time," list in a sport with 102 years of history? So for next year, it will be a 5 season minimum of a career before you can be selected. Many of the teams were built in this century only, hence the "recency bias," I spoke of. We had to draft One QB, One RB, Two Wr's, a flex player, each OL position, and a tight end. Every defensive position, a placekicker, a punter, and Kick returner along with a head coach, offensive and defensive coordinator. Here's the roster I built: QB Terry Bradshaw RB Eric Dickerson WR Bob Hayes WR Isaac Curtis* Flex Raymond Berry TE Russ Francis LT Gary Zimmerman LG John Niland C Mark Stepnoski RG Kevin Gogan RT Mike McCormack* Defense: You had to decide what scheme to use 3-4 or 4-3 I went 4-3 Edge Charles Haley Edge Kevin Carter DT Joe Klecko* DT Jethro Pugh Jr LB Isiah Robertson MLB Sam Huff LB Larry Grantham Corner Everson Walls Corner Hanford Dixon* Safety Darren Woodson Safety Cliff Harris PK Eddie Murray P Mitch Berger KR Billy "White Shoes" Johnson* HC George Siefert OC Kevin Gilbride DC Ernie Stautner* I denoted a few with the * for a reason. Joe Klecko was a Pro Bowl player at 3 different positions, bet you didn't know he had 20.5 sacks as a defensive tackle. Mike McCormack may be better known as a general manager, yet Browns owner/coach Paul Brown also called him the best offensive lineman he ever coached. Isaac Curtis, many might not know the name at all. You should because the "Curtis Rule," changed the way defenses had to play. Hanford Dixon was half of what many football historians call the second-best pair of cornerbacks to play together along with Frank Minnifield, oh and you can thank him for instigating a beloved Cleveland institution we all know now as the "Dawg Pound." Finally, Ernie Stautner in addition to coaching both the original "Doomsday and Doomsday II," defenses in Dallas was as a player the very first Pittsburgh Steeler to ever get his number retired. Go and read how tough a player he was. Do you love the celebrations after a TD? Thank Billy Johnson. Let's not forget some of the older players played both sides of the football as well. Not just for one play or a series but for all 60 minutes. Sure the size of players eras ago was smaller than we have today, obviously, they didn't train year-round either. It was a far different era of the game. just as selecting Bradshaw as my QB, which I defend with 4 Super Bowls, 2 Super Bowl MVPs who called his own plays, a regular-season MVP, and even though it was a far heavier rushing era led the league in passing TDs twice. I'll take that over guys who have been in the league for just 2 or 3 years. That roster has players spanning the 50s through to the early 00s. Oh and just as an added bonus the team that had the most players drafted and it wasn't close, the Dallas Cowboys, tough luck haters. Here's another example of the recency bias that bothers me. I see people claiming this NFL team or that team had the best season ever anyone from the Patriots team that fell one game short of an undefeated season, the undefeated Dolphins, or the 85 Bears, one of the Ravens teams, and yes some will claim the 95 Cowboys as well. Sorry folks but as much as it pains me to say but if you use real numbers such as yardage for vs against, points for vs against, do you know what franchise actually had the most dominant team in the Super Bowl era? The 1991 Washington team had the most dominant season of any Super Bowl-winning franchise. Oh, how it pains this Cowboys fan having to say that. We all know the numerous examples going on with NBA players, those are being done to death. So I will go back to a different sport. Baseball's biggest change in the last 25 years? Five-man rotations versus the previous eras of four-man rotations. Now in the "olden days," pitchers up until the 1969 season also had the advantage of pitching from a higher mound. Go look at how awful batting averages were in the 1960s for the most part, almost as awful as today but for different reasons. Today it's because everyone swings the fences way more. The more important point is the context involved. There are changes in every sport that changes the parameters of how the games are played. I have used this example before but Shohei Ohtani is not the first guy to play a position and pitch either, just some guy named Babe Ruth did it over 100 years ago. I really don't know how you can compare guys who amassed over 300 innings and over 300 strikeouts to today's specialized pitchers fairly. What I really think is so different is that we have generations now of players and fans who really haven't been taught the history of the sports they follow. Unless they haven't seen it on the internet or live, they dismiss the games as they were once played along with the players. That really is sad. I don't claim that the older players were better, I don't claim today's are either. It's simply that people say this stuff without having any context. I will say there is one recent hypothetical match-up on Twitter that did intrigue me. Aaron Donald versus Larry "The Landlord, "Allen. Now that would have been a battle to witness. That's where it should be kept though as a fun type of hypothetical instead of this instant dismissal of those from the past. In closing please take a few minutes out and look up that "All-Time," roster. You might learn something. As always you can find me on Twitter @GregCowboys Read the full article
