fearless - "and I don't know how it gets better than this, you take my hand and drag me headfirst, fearless" (fearless)
speak now - "so I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep, and I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe" (last kiss)
red - "maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much, but maybe this thing was a masterpiece til you tore it all up" (all too well)
1989 - "heartbreak is the national anthem, we sing it proudly" (new romantics)
reputation - "I'm in a getaway car, I left you in a motel bar, put the money in a bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me" (getaway car)
lover - "I just think that you are what you love" (daylight)
folklore - "there goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen, she had a marvelous time ruining everything" (tlgad)
evermore - "I made you my temple, my mural, my sky, now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life" (tolerate it)
midnights - "make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it, you've got no reason to be afraid" (yoyok)
ttpd - "love left me like this and I don't want to exist so take me to florida" (florida!!!)

DEAD POETS SOCIETY - MODERN AU HEAD CANONS
Charlie Dalton and Knox Overstreet - The Secret Swiftie - And the most obvious
He definitely listens to Taylor Swift on a daily basis - Prolly lives and breathes the 1989 era - Now as for the question of how he expresses that? He is either that really quiet one until Knox walks in on on him screaming But Daddy I love Him - He will not let him forget it
Knox is the MOST obvious TS fan amongst the poets - Loves Lover and has cried with Todd over The Manuscript and loml and YOYOK and Back to December and All too Well (10min) - Neil has not forgiven him for that one night when Todd came into their dorm, crying about how The Black Dog is Wolfstar coded (The Poets are so into ATYD and like the Marauders lore)
Knox Overstreet is drunk and cries over Chris while listening to Laufey
Being the hopeless romantic he grabs a bottle of something and puts Laufey on loop on Spotify and cries about Chris - Charlie and Cameron in the dorm have to either stuff their ears or actually go and manually shut of Spotify to stop him from crying. Knox proceeds to cry without Laufey and mumbles the lyrics to himself until he falls asleep
Todd Anderson lives for Hozier analysis - Loves The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives
Todd Anderson is the biggest Hozier fan (DUH). He spent much of his free time sitting down and breaking apart Unreal/Unearth with his copy of the Inferno at his side. Neil and Todd go out to stargaze and they blast The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives on shuffle and Sufjan Stevens
Meeks has destroyed everyone while playing Monopoly and Among Us
People underestimate him too much - well the joke it on them! He has made Cameron storm off and Todd huddle in a corner during Monopoly. Monopoly Monday is not exactly a thing - but when it is everyone rallies to pin him and Charlie together (who wins occasionally due to dumb luck)
He trolled everyone while playing Among Us and is the last to die.
Pitts collects vinyl records and/or CDs
He is definitely into The Smiths and The Beatles and Queen and he loves to collect records and CDs sometimes for aesthetics - But he is in charge of bringing the playlist to the party cause he is not going to overplay any artist (Knox overplayed love ballads and got together with Todd and cried over glasses of cheap wine). Has the most unpredictable music recommendations, but never disappoints.
Cameron vibes with period dramas
Cameron loves the good period dramas, and has read Austen, Tolstoy and E.M.Forester. Wants to be loved but isn't Knoxious desperate. He loves Downton Abbey and relates too much to Thomas and Mary for obvious reasons. Had a crush on Mr. Darcy at some point but now will not shut up about Alec Scudder from Maurice. Charlie had the brilliant idea of scaring him with a massive paper cut out of Colin Firth's Darcy. What ensued was a two hour manhunt for Charlie Dalton. Cameron still has the paper cut out and the poets have grown to appreciate its presence.
Neil loves Hamilton and Les Mis
That's it - he just does - Loves Lafayette and screams the lyrics of Helpless at any given time - Tried to fancast the poets as the cast - And tries to get everyone to sing One Day More (Knox is almost always Marius and is hella dramatic - Todd and Neil make up the Enjoltaire dynamic - Cameron likes Javert)
The Poets Love the Marauders
Charlie flexes the Sirius James energy but he's such a Regulus to Knox's James, who sees Chris as the literal Lily Evans (they are the folklore love triangle change my mind) . Neil and Todd (Wolfstar in a different font). Pitts and Meeks stan GRANT CHAPMAN and Cameron lives for the Black family line drama. They've all written fanfics or literal poetry about them.
Keating refuses to own a kindle
He loves physical copies of books too much - Cannot fathom the idea of owning a kindle
Charlie loves 80s coming of age films
It's his whole jazz - LOVES FERRIS BUELLER and can and will quote The Monologues in The Breakfast Club. Cried over Stand By Me, and has not recovered.
Neil and Pitts and Meeks love Fullmetal Alchemist
It was Christmas when they read volume 4 and none of them have physically recovered from it - IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW - Todd and Charlie had to make hot chocolate and listen to their ramblings and deal with Knox at the same time (who was crying over Chris yet again)
Chris and Ginny and Todd and Pitts and Charlie are in a band together
Knox wants frontline tickets, and Charlie has the time of his life selling the those tickets to literally everyone else. Todd doesn't sing and refuses to and is the lead songwriter - Ginny is the lead drummer and Pitts plays the keys. Chris is the lead singer and Charlie plays the sax and some random instruments on the side. Neil is the supportive boyfriend and Meeks buys them drinks after, and Knox drinks and pours his heart out to Todd.
Their Hogwarts house results
The Gryffindors - Neil and Todd
The Borderline Slytherin + Gryffindor - Charlie
Nowhere man - Knox Overstreet
Ravenclaw - Meeks
The one true Hufflepuss - Pitts
The mish mash one - Richard Cameron
I had fun with this one

hi 🄰 what are your favourite and least favourite songs from each Taylor’s album and why? ✨ <- i need you to do this too!
I haven’t seen that one coming, for real! šŸ˜‚ Thank you, Poppy ā¤ļøšŸ˜Œ
so, i’m a terribly awful Swiftie for saying this but I despise DEBUT šŸ’š I really am. I couldn’t decide which song is my least favourite in reverse of situation when trying to choose fave one, so i figured the track I tolerate is A Place in This World. And the rest of the album is on the other side, I’m sorry šŸ˜…
Fearless šŸ’› This album is much more likeable! I like: Fearless, Love Story, You Belong with Me, The Way I Love You, Untouchable, Don’t You, Mr. Perfectly Fine! Those are bops, sometimes sad nevertheless I like them a lot! See? I redeemed myself šŸ˜‚ Now to the next part! I’m not the biggest fan of Superstar and White Horse 🫢 These are not clicking with me šŸ™
Speak Now šŸ’œ I must say this album grew on me a loooot, A LOT! I look at it in a different way than I used to be, and now it’s one of my faves šŸ˜„ Speak Now the song defender ok? I like all of the songs beside… Last Kiss… I know, ok, I KNOW. May I choose the date of crucification? And Ours and Superman, I feel those two were fillers of the album Taylor needed at the time šŸ˜•
RED ā¤ļø Alright, this one will be super tough, because it is a really, really good album and it deserves the Grammy of course! šŸ„¹ā¤ļø State of Grace, Red, Treacherous, ATW (10min version), The Last Time, Holy Ground, Lucky One, Sad Beautiful Tragic, IBYTAM, Nothing New and Forever Winter are the most magical part of this album for me 🤧 The least… well, I’m not that much of a supporter of Ed Sheeran’s feat. on this album, so Everything Has Changed and Run duo is a no. Also that remix of Girl At Home, no, thank you. Stay Stay Stay it’s just meh I guess? šŸ˜…šŸ˜…
1989 🩵 IT’S "MYā€ ALBUM! and I absolutely love eeeverything about it! It’s a no skip one, I can’t choose the song I dislike. I love all of them! 🄹🩵
REPUTATION šŸ–¤ Aaaaahh! This one, I love memories occurring when I think of days when this one was released 🄹 I definitely like Ready For It, Delicate, Don’t Blame Me, LWYMMD, IDSB, Getaway Car, I would like KoMH more if it was more rock-ish? And CIWYWI šŸ–¤ The least: So It Goes, DWOHT, End Game, TIWWCHNT šŸ¤“ This album is legendary, right, but now I see some cringe about it?
Lover 🩷 My fave is definitely the title track, Lover! It’s such a sweet pop ballad ✨ Next ones are: The Archer, Cruel Summer, DBTC, Paper Rings - silly cute song 😌 Cornelia Street, London Boy (shut up, Pops šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø), False God, the saxophone okaaay? And Daylight! The least fave are Afterglow 🫢, Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince šŸ˜… It’s a solid album, fun, important album in Taylor’s career and I will defend it forever ✨
FOLKLORE 🩶 I CAN’T! I DENY! I LOVE THIS ALBUM!
EVERMORE šŸ¤Ž SAME! NO SKIP! Closure defender!
Midnights šŸ’™ Well, there are songs I adore and adore a little bit less for sure. Let’s start with first ones: Lavender Haze (I remember listening to first beats for the first time ✨🄹) Anti-Hero, YOYOK (although it took time!), Midnight Rain (same…), Maroon, SOTB but with Lana’s verse 🄓, Vigilante Shit, Karma, Labyrinth, Sweet Nothing, Mastermind, GREAT WAR!! Paris is such a fun track! High Infidelity and Dear Reader ✨ When it comes to least: BTTWS 🄹 I don’t listen to this that much. The rest of songs are great but not my favourites.

I'm trying to think of what all my main blorbo's favourite Taylor Swift songs might be. Now the ones I most associate with them - that's a much easier exercise. But what ones would resonate the most with them.
I think that Matthew would really like a lot of the glitter-gel-pen songs because he likes (per CLS) modern and the good-humored. So it's just a matter of questioning which of the glitter-gel-pen songs he'd find the most resonance with. Yeah, Shake It Off is dancey, but would it resonate? Not sure. I'm definitely going with Gorgeous here because I think he'd view it as some kind of Ode to Beauty and he'd just like it, I don't know. He also might TIWWCHNT because it's petty and grudgey in addition to making a great party/dance song. Despite this, I maintain that 1989 is his favourite album for its pop-upbeat vibes. Still, when he's feeling emotional and reflective, Happiness or Dear Reader really does it for him.
Thomas feels like someone who would be a Fearless girlie (gender neutral) at heart because of the fairytaleeque romanticism and general hope that the album exudes. It's also just chock-full of emotions, which obviously is something Thomas would enjoy. I'm assigning him the favourite songs Love Story and Hey Stephen as well as vault tracks like Jump Than Fall and That's When. I also want to say I bet he adores the Lover album and vibes hard with I Think He Knows. For the, you know, absolutely madly-in-love crush vibes.
On the total opposite end of the spectrum, I think that while Alastair enjoys the glitter-gel-pen songs, some of Taylor's rawer, more emotional songs leave him reeling. Tolerate It is the low-hanging fruit because it reminds me of him a lot, but I'm pretty sure that all of Folklore and Evermore really gets to him. He could also sing the songs extremely well because he's a talented musician who sings with passion. I think he'd also like Closure, Seven, Hoax, and Tis the Damn Season a lot. Midnights is another favorite album, especially YOYOK. Probably has listened to WCS angrily, too.
As for Cordelia, I think she's a fun chameleon who loves songs dispersed across eras pretty equally. I think she vibes the honesty in Speak Now hard and would count Enchanted and The Story of Us as favorites. But I'm going to say that I think her absolute favourite Taylor songs are subsequent Reputation tracks Don't Blame Me and Delicate, because they give off the exact vibes that she does when she's in love. I also adore the idea of her and Secret Swiftie James coming up with an entire ballroom-dance variation of Don't Blame Me.

The bait and switch thing is very interesting and it something you do become accustomed to with her releases, I just think this specific promotional cycle and ā€œdark academiaā€ is something that’s hard to pivot than bubblegum hyperfemininity or ā€˜punk rock moment of female rage’ (sry lmao).
I’m going out now so maybe I’ll refine my thoughts more later but DA is an aesthetic that’s very specifically rooted in its subject matter and intellectualism and she did promote based on the apparent ā€œtorturous poetryā€ which created specific expectations for the subject matter and quality of the album. It’s easier to make a bubblegum album and have it actually be about how you’re falling apart or depressed because that’s more of a subversion of expectations that still works in the framework of the original idea? It’s oxymoronic from what people expect but the subject matter isn’t as important as the look and sound of the album for Lover.
Dark academia is also just difficult because when you pick something and promote it based on an aesthetic that’s rooted in intellectualism or the perception of high quality art and then underdeliver people will judge more harshly. Similarly with midnights the promotion was based on sleepless nights and toil and a lot of the negative thoughts were based on the not only the lower quality of the album but also the quality in contrast to the promotion.
lmao no i think the same thing about that particular description of rep because it's inaccurate lol. there's more moments of that on ttpd than rep lol. i mean, yes, and she was leaning into that aesthetic but not necessarily marketing it with those words idk. it definitely wasn't folklore or evermore in terms of quality and also to be clear -- i enjoy the album and have been a fan of taylor since love story in 2008 -- but not all poetry is good? i think hers is but idk. it's also named around a song and again the bait and switch thing. i can see why you're disappointed that it didn't fully deliver to you on the dark academia vibes but i didn't expect that really, so i don't have the exct same feelings around it. i think the aesthetic lets people read into it what they want to see, whether it's sad girl on the moors or da or whatever. but i agree about lover.
and i mean, i don't think she was lying about what inspired midnights. i definitely had hoped for a 70s sound akin to promotion (unlike ttpd where i really didn't think dark academic was part of it at all, especially once we got the tracklist, i figured it'd be more of a coping mechanism album and heartbreak and manic episode, which she literally described it as) but like it definitely did seem like being haunted by exes and her own decisions and depression and fame, as well as deciding whether or not to end her long-term relationship. midnights isn't specifically a breakup album, but it's an anticipatory breakup album and recognizing patterns really. which is fun to analyze as a fan who loveeees patterns. but it also isn't my fav album to listen to, i def skip around while listening to that one too. (my favs off midnights include hits different, maroon, bejeweled, yoyok, labyrinth, dear reader, would've could've should've, anti-hero)

my favorite taylor swift songs over the years / me as a swiftie over the years
~2015: literally never listened to music LMAO didnt even know about the existence of taylor swift
2016: my dad had the red album on apple music so i knew ā€œi knew you were troubleā€ ā€œ22ā€ ā€œwe are never ever getting back togetherā€ yk. the popular ones.
2017: not knowing wtf was going on with taylor, blasting ā€œshake it offā€ in the car and singing along because it was on a ā€œthats what i call musicā€ cd
2018: went to the rep tour literally glendale night 1… i basically only knew her popular songs then and i was in the nosebleeds but i wish i had known the songs.. ā€œgorgeousā€ became my fav. got a spotify account around this time and watched the rep mvs
2019: listened to some of taylors music on spotify (back when u didnt need premium) ā€œwelcome to new yorkā€ was my fav. i did see that lover came out and i saw part of the man mv on tv
2020: ashamed to admit but this was my gacha phase peak. ā€œi knew u were troubleā€ is back on the charts but ā€œwtnyā€ stays on top. saw part of the cardigan mv on tv but other than that I HAD NO IDEA FOLKLORE AND EVERMORE EXISTED
2021: FEARLESS TV CAME OUT ON MY BDAY AND I HAD NO IDEA. BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE

2022: ive had her on my radar since red tv so i was excited for midnights! i started listening to her music little by little. i listened to midnights the moment i got home from school that day (i had exams or sm) and i immediately fell in love (especially yoyok, the great war, and dear reader/ literally the holy trio) then i started listening to a bunch of taylor songs and her music was all i listened to LOL yoyok was my fav! (honorable mentions: yail and wildest dreams)
2023: spent 70% of my time listening to music on taylor and the other 30% on gracie abrams… yoyok still remains my fav but i listened to all her albums front to back, loved all of them. and in the summer i got tickets to the eras tour! (listened to speak now tv and 1989 tv the day it came out obvi)

What Taylor swift album do you think each of the ninja are? I feel like Jay could be Lover. Maybe 1989 for Skylor. What do you think?
As someone who has been casually listening to Taylor since before Ninjago came out thanks to my oldest sister and became an actual Swiftie in 2017 with the release of Reputation (not being able to use that verified ticketmaster fan slip that came with my cd because Christmas was a month after it expired and my mom had no idea it was in there is my ACTUAL roman empire), I have thought about this a lot.
A couple of these ARE interchangeable (Lloyd, you are an enigma to me) but this is USUALLY what I end up falling on.
The Tortured Poet's Department: I know it's not out yet, but based on the vibes, the few lyrics we've seen, the fact that it's probably going to be in the vein of folklore and evermore and the whole message of the album (finally being free after years and years trapped and unhappy), I really think it's going to fit Misako. POSSIBLY Garmadon, but that's my prediction and I'm fully prepared to eat my words.
Midnights: This is one of my top 3 albums (it and Speak Now are constantly fighting for that number 3 spot) and because of how it encapsulates all of the eras/it being about things that she wanted to elaborate on from her past, I feel like it fits all of the characters to an extent. That being said, it feels very Wu coded to me (even if YOYOK is THE Cole song at the end of the day)
evermore/folklore: because evermore are the songs that kept coming from Taylor after folklore, I consider them very similar in tone/vibe and therefore are grouping them as one. folklore is my favorite Taylor album to date and it means so much to me as both a person and as a writer (I can only hope to write something as meaningful as My Tears Ricochet) and these albums are the Nya albums. I know that's unpopular, people tend to see her as Reputation or Speak Now and I fully understand those comparisons but these albums not only have the infamous love triangle saga between Betty and August fighting over James, as well as Mad Woman, The Last Great American Dynasty and No Body, No Crime which are some of my favorite songs about female rage but those albums are so vulnerable in a way that the others aren't.
Lover; oh Lover, the album that people see as the silly, happy, fun album but if they scratch under the surface find the deeper meaning about being scared of losing the one person that is your true love in The Archer, Afterglow and Cornelia Street. This is the first album that I managed to decide what character from Ninjago it fit and that is Jay Walker, my beloved.
Reputation: This album has the baddest bitch anthem in I Did Something Bad but this album also has some of the sweetest love songs I've ever heard in my life. It's so Skylor, everybody. You cannot tell me "I want to wear his initial on a chain around my neck/not because he owns me but because he really knows me" is not Kailor coded.
1989: this album is the Cole album, I take no notes on that one.
Red: NO, I'M NOT MAKING THAT COMPARISON. Red is NOT the Kai album, this is arguably the SADDEST album in Taylor's discography and despite his color being Red, that doesn't mean Kai fits Red! Now that I have THAT out of the way (sorry, TikTok pisses me off with that comparison), Red is the Lloyd album. Yes, it has those few happy moments (Starlight, State of Grace, Treacherous) but most of the album is CLOUDED by this heartbreak from All Too Well, Forever Winter, The Moment I Knew. And The Lucky One is so, so, so Lloyd & Arin coded.
Speak Now: *throws Harumi at you and runs away to grab Garmadon as well before sprinting out of the room to avoid getting asked questions while yelling* I can't pick, sorry!
Fearless; this album is so Kai coded, you cannot tell me otherwise. I can't tell you WHY it is that way, but it is (despite my anger about the "Kai is Red coded" meme, I am willing to switch Lloyd and Kai if someone can prove it to me.)
And finally, Taylor Swift/Debut: I will admit, I HARDLY listen to this album. I'll probably grow a deeper love/understanding for it when the rerecording comes out but as of now, it's my LEAST listened to album of hers but from the songs I do listen to (Our Song, Tied Together With a Smile and A Place In This World) It really does give me Zane vibes (although I also think it gives PIXAL vibes because those two are really parallels of each other) but, I don't listen to the full album so I'm willing to change my mind.
Anyway, this got very long but I have a lot of opinions on both Ninjago and Taylor's music so you DID kinda ask for it, anon.
