Are there any NND #COMPASS fans on tumblr? If so I'm curious on what people think about the illness that Reiya has (I'm assuming he has some kind of illness or disease since he has difficulty walking and can be seen coughing and in pain). What do you guys think he has? I personally think Reiya suffers from pulmonary hypertension.

#COMPASS2.0 ANIMATION PROJECT episode 10

Okay, at this point it has been firmly established that COMPASS is a centralised space for real people from physical other worlds and it's not that everyone has been lifted from a selection of video games à la Wreck-It Ralph.

Even if the multiple worlds situation is something already established in Jin's world, I'm still astounded that there's so little reaction to 13 being a literal afterlife angel. Further that Jin didn't seem at all intimidated by First, even if he did turn out to be surprisingly reasonable and kind to them.

I did like how the story of how 13 fell as an angel and entered COMPASS entwined with the story of Jin's brother and also provided a bit of drama and strain of the partnership for this episode. It's satisfying when things slot neatly together.

I am torn by Reiya's position in all of this. It is implied at the end that he is in fact behind Loki's motives and is an enemy. But, there were several points throughout of him leaving tasks to Jeanne and to Morita that were unexplained and so could turn out to be part of a wider plan. Will have to wait and see.

First Impression: #COMPASS2.0 ANIMATION PROJECT

As we float in the sky, a robot resembling a metallic magical girl gives us (first-person perspective!) a warm welcome to #COMPASS. We fly among clouds, blue pyramids, a floating white tower, a great cube, gardens, stone alleys, and green labyrinths: #COMPASS seems to be a virtual reality where heroes from different worlds can hang out, have a pizza, enjoy a concert, or polish their skills in mock battles while interacting with…their human partners? What are these “heroes” then? They look human enough, while, paradoxically, the “humans” look like little genies or dolls. Enter 13, whom the robot describes as their “problem child,” and who, judging by his costume, has watched Ergo Proxy (or The Crow) too many times. He is a slacker who might even be expelled from Compass if he keeps refusing to train. This would be bad, as he apparently doesn’t have a world to return to. A Captain America/Buzz Lightyear patriotic hero scolds him to no avail. We get a glimpse of other characters: Jeanne D’Arc is going through a losing streak and doesn’t rest enough (is that St. Jeanne? I need to do an article about her numberless anime appearances). Reiya is a stoic hero who seems to suspect a possible attack. And Jin is a human who is intrigued by 13, and is playing #COMPASS as a mobile game while in class, the rascal!

Compass 2.0 anime episode 11 thoughts/spoilers:

Thirteen ends being reckless trying to face Loki alone

Also, that first interaction between real world!Jin and Jeanne was funny:

real world!Jin: *sees Jeanne hiding behind a destroyed restaurant counter* Jeanne! :D Jeanne: Jeanne: Who are you?

Pretty much the same reaction Thirteen had when he met real world!Jin XD (since they only knew him by his VR avatar appearance)

New emotional (melancholic?) soundtrack! The Vocaloid producers that are composing the OST for this anime are amazing. I hope it gets an official release as well as being available globally as in not region-locked

I was right that all of the heroes would be working together and following Jeanne's lead (+ it being Reiya's plan). Also, Bugdoll is helping them all out too!

So, Jin confronts Loki and is letting him learn the truth through his late older brother's voice message about Loki. When I think about it, Loki's behaviour is like that of a newborn child, trying to understand the world around him…

Voidoll still opposing the others since she's the observer of the Compass world system, but perhaps in the next episode she'll fight alongside all of the heroes.

Seems like Loki evolved into some sort of final boss monster (against his own will; as well as Jin being trapped inside the core) in which all the heroes must defeat to save their (second) home/world. Is that what secrectly happens behind all the maintenance? /j

The final episode is going to be broadcasted next week… I'd be very surprised if they end up announcing a second season; perhaps having all the remaining heroes from the game have their official anime debut for that? Again, the Japanese voice cast is very stacked. (Pretty much an all-stars cast)

I fell in love with Reiya's theme "Parallel Layer" back in 2022 after randomly finding it on youtube and was gutted to find almost no info on the game it was from, nor info about Reiya himself.

Reiya/Compass has been plaguing the back of my mind ever since so seeing him on an anime promo art gave me so much whiplash lol
