“Huh?” Steve asks, pushing Emily on the tire swing during recess. In seven more pushes, it will be his turn. He’s focused on counting so it takes a second for the question to sink in and for him to respond, "No?”

“Why’d you take so long to answer?” Tommy asks. “Carol said that if you take a long time to answer, it’s ’cause you’re lying.”

“I’m not lying!” Steve scoffed. “I never lie, Tommy. And I don’t steal.”

“Carol says that you’re trying to steal my mom from me and keep her all to yourself,” Tommy accuses. “She said you want to be my mom’s favorite little guy, and you want her to forget all about me so I get kicked out. You want me to be homeless!”

“I don’t want that!”

“Yes, you do ‘cause then you’ll have a mom that wants to be around you!”

Steve nearly gets swiped by the tire swing when he freezes. He balls his hands into fists. Tommy does too and he knows how to hit harder so Steve just tells him, “My mama wants to be with me all the time. She’s just busy.”

“Don’t mean you can steal my mom.”

“I don’t want your mom to be my mom,” Steve exclaims even if it is kinda a lie and they both know it. “I - I just like her ‘cause she’s nice to me. I don’t want your mom to forget about you.”

Steve’s lost count of how many times he’s pushed Emily and he doesn’t even want to play on the tire swing anymore.

He wipes at his eye even though he’s not a baby and he’s not crying. He just feels like he might when he says, “I won’t come to your house no more.”

“What? Why not?” Tommy asks. “You have to come over. We’re building a Lego fort.”

“You don’t want to be my friend anymore.”

“Yes, I do??” Tommy says confused at what Steve was saying. “You’re my best friend.”

“Really?”

“Yeah!”

“Okay,” Steve says, wiping at his dry eyes again. “Sorry, I was bein’ a bad friend.”

“That’s okay,” Tommy tells him. “Just don’t talk to my mom anymore.”

the dagger is a snake and wings, with a mechanism in the handle that allows for poison to be held in it and then dripped out the mouth of the snake into a divot in the blade (idk if that actually would work but it's fantasy lemme have this).

Trying to explain how I think about Fifth Doctor era relationships like: Yeah Five and Tegan are a married couple who argue all the time, both before and after getting married, but they would also kill anyone who hurt the other while also about to get divorced. Nyssa is Five’s PhD student and he’s her weird professor but she’s also his adopted daughter and his co-worker too. Adric is Five’s adopted son, but Five also treats Adric like some random kid who’s just wandered into his house and started eating his food while Adric sees Five as his False Impostor Step-Dad who has Killed and Taken the Place of his Cool Real Father. Nyssa and Tegan are both Adric’s sisters. Nyssa and Tegan are also in love but are not married. Tegan and Turlough are catty best friends. Turlough and Five are fucking but they’ve also never had sex and never will. Kamelion thinks of Five and Turlough as family and is in love with Tegan. Five and Turlough think of Kamelion as their weird dog and Tegan actively Hates him and wishes He Would Die. All of their dynamics are also all entirely platonic. Hope this helps.

Okay so I want to write my thoughts out.

This family was Twilight’s scheme. Well, Anya really got it together, but it was his plan. Anya knows the whole truth, but Yor is under the assumption that the only lie in the Forger family is their marriage. She believes Anya is really Loid’s kid and he’s just an average guy. Yor gets to realize her emotions first because she has always been able to recognize people’s hidden emotions. She always tells Loid that Anya adores him and that he’s doing a great job, always helps him realize things he didn’t even notice himself. She’s always encouraging Anya, being that mother figure, even when she doubts herself. Despite the lies, what Yor feels about her family is real.

Twilight is not allowing himself that same grace. This family is his construction, so therefore he needs to keep them at arm’s length so he doesn’t get attached. He is capable of those feelings, but his trauma and mission are all he knew up until the last 6 months. Every time he experiences an emotion that expresses the slightest bit of affection for his family, he sees it as a weakness. And can you blame him? He has so many enemies and he can’t trust anyone. Besides, loving his family for real will make it harder to let them go in the end. Remember, this is a long mission, but it is supposed to come to an expected end.

Anya has her age and innocence and is able to verbalize her feelings for her family much easier than her parents. Though the words “love” rarely appears between the three of them, it is clear that Anya likes her family and their dynamic. But she understands why Twilight adopted her and knows that she plays a role in his mission. She knows that it’ll come to an end some day, that’s why she could confide in Damian her secret, and not her parents. She feels they can send her away at any time and them knowing she’s psychic might accelerate that process. I’ve always wondered if Twilight not “loving” her ever bothers her, but she’s like 5. It just seems a little depressing that she is so fond of her father but he isn’t quite there yet. And maybe Anya does understand that, but she doesn’t quite mind.

All in all, yes Twilight/Loid is so dense but that’s only cause we have all the details. There’s no way he would be bringing down his walls yet, especially since he already thought Yor liked him and she shut that down. So he already has it in his mind that he and Yor see each other in the same way, a means to an end. But Yor is starting to see it differently. It’ll be a long while until Twilight catches up to that.

oh it’s okay, I know Pangur well enough by now to be able to predict the next few months. she’s always like this with new cats - there’s the intense fear period (which we’ve mostly passed through), then the raw seething hatred period (currently in), and then either acceptance and sociability or a reduced, livable amount of hatred.

it’s the “you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette” principle, except instead of eggs it’s Pangur’s sanity (temporarily), and instead of an omelette it’s an enriching social environment. I’m hoping that once we get through the bad, this will end up being a net good for her.

You know how in some ghost stories sometimes its not a person or a land that's haunted but the items?

Well what if, when looking for a mother's day gift for his mom, Danny is looking around a pawn shop and finds a necklace, it's missing some pearls but it's just enough to pass off as a decent gift. Danny humms but decides against it and goes to leave it....

That was until he gasped out blue frost and spots a ghostly woman appear out of the necklace with a somber smile. She isn't as seeable as the other ghosts in Amity though, meaning she doesn't have enough ectoplasm on her own (that might change the longer she's in Amity and around Danny though) and that right now only Danny can see her.

And Danny well... hes been doing his hero gig for a bit now, might go and ask if there was anything he can do to help.

And later Danny's good deed... bites him back. Oh boy. Because now he has the Bats looking into Amity Park... Wait what do you mean Martha is now strong enough to be seen?!

sometimes i think about toriel in that first run when flowey finds her in the RUINs, having her dead son return to her for comfort, broken and helpless, and being unable to provide for him in the one impossible way he desperately needed, "fixing him" "making it okay" the way only his mom should've been able to do.

flowey kills himself after she fails. you ever think about that? cause i think about that. you're gonna tell me she didn't notice? that she was cheerfully oblivious as things failed to get better and he grew more desperate and more hurt and more hopeless, as she failed him like she once did and always will fail him? you're gonna tell me that didn't eat her alive? didn't keep her up at night? didn't break her back into all those tiny little shards of herself she'd glued back together and swept under the carpet by sheer force of will?
